I will be a first time voter this year as I just became a naturalized citizen. As a former Hillary Clinton supporter, I got disgusted with her negative attacks and nasty campaign during the primaries. After getting to know Obama through debates, I was amazed with his intelligence and his very civilized campaign. I became an Obama supporter, although I could not vote. The little experience is not a negative aspect for me at all as I believe he knows the issues well and he is brilliant. McCain has experience but for what? For making bad judgements, for going to Iraq for oil causing so many American soldiers and hundreds or thousands of Iraqi women and children to die. All those years of experience means nothing to me with this kind of politics. It's a waste and he hasn't learned much from it.

McCain and his incompetent VP choice have been running a very nasty campaign. Just for the sake of winning. They dream, because Obama will win this election. Plus, I do not believe McCain knows foreign policy well. He has made some major mistakes; i.e. he could not tell the difference between the sunnis and shiites. I really do not think he has any clue about the culture or the people in Iraq.

He is 72 years old and I cannot put my future in this country in the hand of a 72 year old who has had cancer numerous times. Especially now after his VP choice. His VP candidate selection showed us how selfish he is. This woman has no clue about anything. Regular people know more than she does! She keeps blaming the media, but no one in the right mind will believe what she's trying to pull after seeing her interviews. For those brainwashed people who keep praising her, I feel sorry for you for not being able to see the truth and the reality.

I am a service member of this country's fine military and have been for the last eight years coincidentally. Anyway, I have been watching these elections very close. I feel the slanderous and cut throat tactics of the McCain campaign appalling and desperate. When will he or his advisors realize that this is a campaign of policies and truly American lives are at stake at home and abroad. A failing economy and a demotivating war effort. I have spent some time in the Middle East, we as service members fight for our country, but more importantly we fight for each other, our brothers and sisters on our left and right. All this we do to get home to our families and so they can get home to theirs in one piece. I was fortunate enough to finally get home to mine but I know there are many more who want the same. Obama seems to have touch with all of us as service members and regular families, John "Maverick" McCain seems to lose himself in the amounting dollars wasted and rising death toll of our service men and women. His running mate as well needs to come down from her enchanted tower and really take a look around. America needs change, a new face, and a fresh start. This Republican ticket doesn't represent that. Any true patriot can see that, war hero, average man, the young and old. America and the world are ready for a new era.

Never select someone for VP that you only met once and didn't thoroughly vet. I would be willing to bet the farm McSame didn't know Palin had a pregnant teenage daughter or son who was constantly in trouble, or that Palin couldn't give an interview and speak good English, or was under investigation. The reason we are not reading about Biden in the paper is because he was thoroughly vetted. All we have is that he used someone elses words once and did't footnote it. I bet many doctoral candidates have done the same. That is not interesting enough to read in the National Enquirer.

This is my first presidential election, because I just turned 20 this year.

I was born and raised in North Carolina and I'm currently a student at uncc. I can honestly say that the new, young voter turnout is gong to be amazing. There's a sense of excitement among my campus, and also many other NC colleges I've visited recently. While I can't speak for all in my age group, I truly believe Obama/Biden is what the country needs and I think everyone is going to be surprised at the turnout of young voters here in NC (and across the u.s.!).

I think NC is still considered a "red" state here, but if all the new voters turn out like I think they will, Obama/Biden definitely have a shot at taking NC. Not only young voters are turning toward Obama either. I've spoken to a lot North Carolinians who normally vote Republican, who are starting to lean obama.

North Carolina (and America) is starting to see what ticket is truly the best for us right now–Obama/Biden.

This weekend while doing household chores my little gr dtr was listening to music.she started to chant her own lyrics singing "Barack Obama, Barack Obama, Barack Obama". This went on for at least 5 mins. You have to wonder. Then when I ask who is going to win the presidential race, between McCain and Obama, my other gr son said McCain won't win because he is too old and his back hurt so he can't run fast to win. I just died with laughter, kids say and do the darnest thing. They learn a lot of visual perception in school nowadays.

I am a registered Democrat and I have long been a supporter and fan of John McCain. If anyone has followed his political career, they would know without a doubt that McCain's Presidency would be nowhere near that of President Bush in philosophy, approach, style and results. John McCain is exactly what this country needs. We need a leader we can trust and who has a proven record of integrity and good decisions. Obama may be a good President someday, but now is not that day.

I do not understand why anyone would not vote for McCain saying his VP choice is not experienced enough, only to vote for his opponent for President who has even less experience than his VP choice!

I hope that what I'm seeing in the blogs and commentary are true; people seem to be seeing through our Beauty Queen of a Governor. I can only hope for all of our sakes that it is true. She's empty-headed, hate-filled, overly-ambitious and downright clueless with regard to life outside of Alaska. She will do anything to push her agenda with little to no regard for those who don't agree with her. It is truly one of the scariest things I've ever seen in the political arena and I hope for all of our sakes that people are truly paying attention. If you are at all concerned about our safety, our economy, our civil liberties, and our country you can not, in good conscience, vote McCain/Palin. A campaign should be about more than reciting lines (lies) that are rehearsed and vicious rhetoric. Let's focus on the issues.

Palin has a lot to answer for in Alaska and despite her platform of openness and transparency during the gubernatorial election, she continues to resist efforts to investigate the ethics violation for which she owes the people of Alaska (and America) an answer. She and McCain should be required to respond to the allegations and cooperate without delay rather than employ a diversionary tactic of blaming the probe on Obama lawyers (this mess started over the summer, months ahead of the McCain political stunt...er announcement). If McCain had done his homework, I'm sure he could have found someone (anyone) better to be his running mate. To say that this woman is qualified to be the next Vice President (and possibly the next President) of the United States is an insult to the collective intelligence of the citizens of this country.

The world is watching, and waiting with baited breath to see what Americans choose for the future. Let's show them that we're sick of the BS and do what's best for the nation.

Friday night on MSNBC Countdown I saw a nice clip of portions of the Palin/Biden debate, showing how Palin claimed to be a reformer, an outsider, having executive experience, talking about global warming and, of course, winking.

Then they displayed portions of the old Bush/Gore debates, with Bush saying exactly the same things Palin said, and – guess what – even winking!

I hope the Obama campaign will soon do an ad of this.

Everyone that I know here in NC is voting for McCain/Palin. I spoke to a lady who was running a booth for democrats at a local town festival over the weekend. She told me that the 6 people running the booth were only voting democrat at the state and local level but were voting for McCain/Palin for President. She also told me that other democrats that she knew were also voting for McCain.
That seems to be a trend here in NC and Virginia by comments that I am hearing.

I would love to see the American people all over the country send a message that the games McCain is playing with our future are unacceptable. As a Utah Republican, I cannot bring myself to vote for McCain/Palin. I'm sure the redest of all states won't turn, but I for one would like to see it.
