In their negative deep dive, the McCain-Palin campaign hammered Obama for supposedly saying our troops in Afghanistan are just "air raiding villages and killing civilians."

The Washington Times reports that John McCain himself once said something remarkably similar in 2000. McCain called the Clinton strategy and tactics "...the most obscene chapter in recent American history is the conduct of the Kosovo conflict when the president of the United States refused to prepare for ground operations, refused to have air power used effectively because he wanted them flying — he had them flying at 15,000 feet where they killed innocent civilians because they were dropping bombs from such — in high altitude."

Palin said Obama should be "disqualified" for his remark about Afghanistan. Should she hold her running mate to the same standard for his remark about Kosovo?

Nowhere have I seen McCain and his supporters (sorry, fanatics) do something other than attack Obama, but I have seen Obama and his supporters (not the fanatic ones) actually give information on his plans while attacking McCain. Yes, McCain has experience after 26 yrs in the senate, but it is the wrong kind of experience.

For president of United States, in these critical moments, McCain is the least prepared and the least qualified. Together with choosing Sarah Palin, someone that knows nothing of national and international issues, makes the McCain/Palin ticket really troublesome to swallow.

In that context McCain represents a riskier choice than Obama.

McCain lost the election when he decided to listen to the old Bush operatives and go negative. He lost a lot of trust from people like me who loved and admired him, and thought of him as a man of principles. Now he just comes across as someone who is willing to "sell his soul to gain the world".

And Palin is downright scary!
She comes across as a female Bush who is running on personality and likability – but no substance. People are not willing to take that chance again. McCain can talk character all he wants, but I have one very simple question for him. McCain how has the current “economic crisis” affected you and your family personally and directly? My single home investment value went down because my neighbor across the yard is foreclosing, my neighbor across the street filed Chapter 11 on his small business. My 401K and small IRA are now worthless, my 6 months old son is oblivious of what’s going on but he’s inherited a debt.

Well, at least I know one thing, if Obama is elected as the president and Congress stays in the Dems control, I won't have to worry about the poor judgement the Dems used during the Clinton administration that played a large role in getting us into the economic situation we are today.

CNN poll...now that's funny! Take a look at the bulk of the democrat/liberal traffic on the site, and the liberal nature of CNN. That would be like taking a poll on Fox News and expecting liberals to believe the results. As a conservative independent, I'm not too sure what to believe. Both parties have been caught in a series of verifiable lies. Obama is far from strong in moral character or leadership ability. Ironically, I would vote for a Biden/Palin ticket if it existed. Palin owes her political career to superficial voters. Early on, it seems, she realized her looks were her ticket to success: starting as a cheerleader in high school, proceeding to beauty pagent contestant, then to TV sportscaster. Using her TV recognition, she successfully ran for governor of a city of 6,000, which she left in debt after 6 years (no debt before her tenure) with a multimillion dollar lawsuit over ownership of the land of a sports arena she supported and on which gave the ok to start construction before the land entanglements had been resolved. The debate for governor that I watched on the Intranet showed her to be as superficial as she was on the VP debate–canned answers and cutesy distractions when she didn't know the answers.

And let's not overlook the sheer audacity and ambition in Palin's accepting the VP nomination, knowing she had Troopergate going on to probe whether she had misused power with regard to her former brother in law–never mind that she would be exposing her pregnant teenage daugher to national publicity and had just given birth to a special needs child (yet she holds herself up as a "hockey mom" in the campaign, as if THAT had anything to do with running a country). For years we've been hearing about how cold and caluculating Hillary Clinton's ambition is...compared to Sarah Palin Clinton's "Mother of the Century."

For all the Republicans and haters: Get used to it. This gentleman will be the 44th President of the United States of America! May God have mercy on America, may God bless our next President, Mr. Obama with wisdom, knowledge and understanding. I pray that America will once again be a country to be emulated for the good and may America learn lessons from the bad and evil. Never again should this country be hi-jacked by the likes of what/who we have seen this past two terms. If people would simply shed their personal biases, open up, and actually listen to his message, then there is no doubt in my mind that Barack Obama would win every state in the union.

Gaining on the issues AND on personal qualities is no mean feat considering the constant barrage of lies and spin being told about Obama by the McCain/Palin stooges. This proves more than anything that you can't always BS the American people and get away with it. We know genuine character, quality, and substance when we see it. So the Palin/McCain goons may as well hang it up!

I'm outraged by the tone and behavior of the Mccain/Palin campaign the last few days and the medias lack of coverage. The comments from especially Palin recently are hateful, untrue and most disturbing in that they could be inciting violence reactions from some of their supporters. Comments like 'terrorist', 'kill him' and 'traitor' from the people attending the rallys recently should be sounding alarm bells for everyone. It's a frightening and disturbing direction that Mccain is taking and the fact that the media is not bringing this up is outrageous!

Its nice to see other Americans feeling the connection to Obama we've had all along.

And could the McCain supporters please tell him to stop the 'scortched earth policy' he and Palin are doing now. By preaching hate, they are in fact telling us they would rather see us turn against each other in order for them to win the election.

Good thing is that Americans are FED UP and we have left all that hatred to the GOP. They can have rallies and preach hatred all they want but we have moved on.

You can tell just by look at McCain and Palin that they've all but given up. It's almost sad to watch; I am looking forward to Nov 4 aqnd hearing what Obama will say in his victory speech.

Why does CNN show so many clips of McCain and Palin? Why so much commentary on either of them? I don't see near as much when it comes to Obama. Is that fair? Showing Palin clips on the news only serves to stir up rabble and seems to slant CNN's position to pro McCain. I've seen enough of McCain and his tired ideas. As for Palin, her remarks are intended to shock her listeners; she has no business trying to run for VP of the US! She is a tackless hick and her speeches are illadvised, dishonest, and criminal. Neither McCain nor Palin have the qualifications for the office of the president. McCain owes the country a Alzheimer's test. Palin owes the country her resignation.

Generally speaking, the way a candidate campaigns for election to office indicates how he or she will govern if they win the election. That is what I look for in an election campaign... who is most likely to govern well, govern responsibly. Let's see which candidate will give us voters

Can anyone tell me why the town hall is supposed to be McCain's best arena for debates. I have watched him in town halls and his performance to me is atrocious. Not only does he not answer questions directly but he appears stiff and insincere. His attempt at humor is forced and he offwers those attending the town halls very little i nth way of specific plans and proposals. The idea he is able to connect with voters in a town hall setting may be related to the respect people have for him due to his service in the military and his POW status, but it in no way has anything to do McCain truly being able to connect with the audience as a serious and well prepared Presidential candidate.

McCain's belief that town halls are his forte comes from believing the press and media pundits constructing this false view. This will hurt McCain tonight because he is unaware due to these false impressions that when sitting next to Obama and having to ANSWER questions directly, Obama will teach him what it means to truly be able to connect with the voters in such a meeting.

From what I have seen, McCain's town halls have been primarily made up of his supporters, even when they were previously announced to be random. Depending on the mix tonight, he may not find the adoring crowds he is used to greeting and lying to.

Sen. Obama has shown steady leadership qualities, unlike Sen. McCain who has been quite volatile and erratic. McCain's knee-jerk reaction to the financial crisis revealed a great deal about him and how he would lead. Sen. Tax Issues for Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin released her 2006 and 2007 tax returns on October 3, 2008. She received reimbursements totaling $43,500 for travel and lodging for her family in connection with state business. Of that total, $25,000 was for her children's travel and $18,500 was for her husband's travel.

Bryan Camp, a tax professor at Texas Tech University School of Law and a former Internal Revenue Service lawyer in Washington, said the IRS would ask several questions to determine whether the travel reimbursements were reported properly. Those questions include whether Mr. Palin and the children were employees of the state of Alaska, whether they traveling for bona fide business purposes, and whether they would have been able to deduct those travel expenses on their own tax returns for business purposes. Because the answer to at least one and possibly more of those questions is no, "The Palins should have reported the $43,500 in family travel allowances received in 2007 as income," Mr. Camp wrote in an analysis.

Also, Sarah Palin accepted $17,000 in per-diem meal payments for nights spent at her home in Wasilla, 40 miles from the governor's office she used in Anchorage, Alaska. She used that office rather than traveling to the state capital of Juneau. Several tax experts have argued this should be counted as taxable income, too.

My opinion as to the 'experience' question is this:

Just because you've been in office for 26 years does not mean that your ideas are better. All it means is that you have seniority, which, as many union workers can attest, doesn't mean all that much.

I find Obama to have better ideas and a better plan for America's future. You can see his rather comprehensive plan on his site. I can not say the same for McCain's plan or his site.

And, quite frankly, I have a bunch of 'Joe Sixpack' friends, and would not trust a single one of them as President or Vice President. I want someone much more tuned in than me to lead the nation.

It's Obama / Biden for me.

CNN is going to have to start posting more information with their polls... it's getting harder and harder to take them seriously when there are numerous (just as recent) polls out there showing different (and in some cases, vastly different) results.

I don't doubt Obama has gained, but when CNN says he opened an 8% lead in national polls, and then 5 other polls come out showing it to be closer to 3-4% (with sample margin errors of 1.2-2.6) it raises a few questions...

I see CNN is still out there trying to win the election for Pelosi and Reid's chosen one.

What a mockery of reporting CNN has become.

Obama needs to stick to the issues, stay calm and focused and just not respond to McCain's smear tactics tonight beyonf telling him – and the voters – that he has already addressed all ofthese attacks (he has, in the primaries when Clinton rolled them out) and that he is there to talk to the American people about the issues. Period. Let McCain chew on the curtains a while without getting a response, might be therapeutic for him.

Over the weekend, John McCain's top adviser announced their plan to stop engaging in a debate over the economy and "turn the page" to more direct, personal attacks on Barack Obama.

In the middle of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, they want to change the subject from the central question of this election. Perhaps because the policies McCain supported these past eight years and wants to continue are pretty hard to defend.

But it's not just McCain's role in the current crisis that they're avoiding. The backward economic philosophy and culture of corruption that helped create the current crisis are looking more and more like the other major financial crisis of our time.

During the savings and loan crisis of the late '80s and early '90s, McCain's political favors and aggressive support for deregulation put him at the center of the fall of Lincoln Savings and Loan, one of the largest in the country. More than 23,000 investors lost their savings. Overall, the savings and loan crisis required the federal government to bail out the savings of hundreds of thousands of families and ultimately cost American taxpayers $124 billion.

Why are we even talking about McCain? He has become totally irrelevant to this election. This election is completely now been relegated to those who are comfortable with Obama as the new President and those who are not. You could stick a pig with lipstick in place of McCain and the GOP poll numbers would not change. That's because he has shown absolutely no leadership, no ideas, and no solutions.

I'm an ex-Republican voting Obama. It amazes me that the GOP represents themselves as the ticket of God, but I have seen nothing coming from the McCain-Palin ticket, their ads, or their rallies that reflect anything that my God would be proud of.

This Poll states the Obvious, Obama cares about people because he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, McCain has never had to work hard at anything in his life, everything has been handed to him on a silver platter.

As an indepent voter, these numbers are not surprising. McCain behavior over the last couple of weeks has shown someone who panics under pressure. Obama's remained cool under pressure. You need someone to have a calm, cool personality in order to deal what we are going through at this time.

At 39 years old, I am happily married with 3 kids (4, 9 and 12), work full-time as a licensed and skilled engineer, live in a nice community where I own my own home, and I go to my Baptist church a few times less than I probably should.

I coach a youth sports team, volunteer for toys-for-tots with the local Marine Corps, donate to the Republican National Committee and to Cancer research, and finally quit smoking over a year ago.

I have pre-paid for all my kids college education, have never been late on a payment for our home, cars or credit cards, and I have a spotless drivers license and am registered to vote.

Sounds like the American Dream? I think so... and I am very content.

I am also a convicted felon.

I am happy tell you what happened 20 years ago as a teenager... but I just want to tell you people that blindly and blanketly think felons should not vote and are brainless, that you are a bunch of hypocritical, self-righteous, bigots that should think before you speak... or better off, keep quiet and go away.

What ever happened to the Republican people I once knew who were warm, courteous, forgiving, and charitable. This leader McCain, whom I voted for in the primaries, has become an arrogant, evil force that is brainwashing the innocent fools that you are.
