Audio Slideshow The Election Express rolls into Nashville for the second presidential debate…and finds that the election isn't the biggest game in town.
Both candidates are good on their feet. It just comes down to whether or not McCain dances around the issues like he has done since he cinched the Republican nomination. He wasted weeks while Hillary and Barack campaigned down to the last primary. Obama has continued since Primary election days to campaign on the issues. McCain wasted time and now has no answers. He didn't even see the looming crisis on the horizon. Will see if he can even converse about solutions. America is waiting.

You know, you McCain supporters who disrespect the American legacy by shouting, fear mongering, and lying are only trying to run the same ole tactics from decades ago. If you haven't noticed, America is not listening to you this time. We've been lead down this road before. It is evident in the polls, that no one is listening to you. Try getting NEW and POSITIVE ideas to make the case that your man or your party deserves to be in power. How about trying to recruit young people, diverse people, forward thinking people before your party becomes extinct!

McCain keeps telling us " we're in trouble, I know how to fix it". Well, how do you expect to fix it Sen. McCain ? All we hear from you and your pit bull every time you open your mouths is smears and lies. But I guess when you don't have a plan about the economy or anything else that is affecting the American people all you have left is to attack your opponents in the hopes that Americans will fall for it. Guess what McCain we are smarter than that. Can't wait till early voting opens Oct 20Th. I will be at the polls first thing in the morning to vote for the next President and VP. Obama/Biden.

My first question to McCain would be–Why is Sarah Palin breaking the law by not answering her subpoena? My next question would be about his wife's absent tax returns.
What do you think would happen if other Americans ignored subpoenas. Sarah should respond and Karl Rove, but I guess they're above the people.

When all is said and done, Obama goes down in November because of two issues that won’t go away:
1. Jeremiah Wright
2. Michelle Obama
While speaking in tongues for nearly two years now — and since voters REALLY don’t know much about Obama –or what he REALLY stands for — these two issues will stick!
Obama operates on love of America

I would like to ask who chose the debate venues.. hardly fair. You send Barack first time to Klan country , now red neck Nashville.. how fair is that? It is okay though because Obama has the goods..he operates on his love of America and his belief in change and hope. Goodness will reign in America again. McCain and Palin have so much hate, anger and bitterness they make no room for change. New life and hope cannot grow where there is so much negative energy. I cannot wait for November 4th. Palin is married to a secessionist who hates America and thinks Alaska should secede from the US. Todd Palin has been a member of the Alaska Independence Party, whose motto is "Alaska First, Alaska Always". If Barack or Michelle Obama had been in a group that had a motto "Chicago First, Chicago Always", you can bet you'd hear about it. Palin and her husband are anti-American. Notice how whenever she isn't wearing her big gaudy flag pin, she's wearing a big gaudy pin that says "ALASKA". And McCain doesn't wear any pin at all.
Who is putting Country First? Not McCain-Palin.

I hope both candidates will try to stick to the subject tonight. We want to hear about the economy, and other topics that effect us on Main street and our side streets, We don't want to be lumped together as Hockey Moms and Joe Sixpacks (a term I find offensive) We are people with real struggles with high gas prices, lost jobs, higher grocery prices, poor or no health care benefits in the face of rising health care costs. To refer to us as Joe Sixpack makes us all sound like a bunch of rednecks who have nothing better to do than sit around and drink beer and talk about how great everything in America is. Oh Carole for the love of God, think before you speak. First, start making the diffrence between hating America and attacking some of its positions. Wright does not hate America (hint hint, he served in the military), he hates its foreign policy. Ayers does not hate America, he hated the Vietnam war and his bombings were always done while preventing people first to make sure to do no harm. You can disagree with his actions or Wright's positions, but there is not an ounce of hate in these. Now, compare this to Palin's preacher who drove countless women to insanity by attacking them and calling them witches. Or Haggee who thinks NO flooding was because of gays and sexual activities. That is pure hatred. So start drawing the difference and stop spreading you own hatred in blogs like this one.

McCain sat on the board of the U.S. Council for World Freedom with John Singlaub, who was affilated with a group that were extremists, racists and anti-semites.

Sarah Palin's speeches are indeed insighting racial hate. She comes out with the most totally disgusting things. I have never witnessed such hate. She is a Christian?? To his credit McCain has been open about his role in the Keating 5. He admits that he took money to fight against regulations that prevented Keating from running scams to steal the life savings of elderly investors. He also admits that he helped to cover Keating when he defrauded his investors to the tune of over 3 BILLION dollars. He was not exonerated, he was simply not severely punished. This is relevant because even after this life lesson, McCain continued to champion AGAINT banking regulations and the results of his efforts can now be seen on the front page of every newspaper in the nation.

Which McCain are we going to see Tuesday night? The Liberal anti- Bush, anti-lobbyist, anti-earmark, anti-Wall St., maverick reformer who represents Main St. or the angry lying conservative right- wing, war-mongering Bush loyalist that we've all learned to dispise.
After eight long years of the Bush administration, America can no longer be held hostage to the values of conservative extremism to which John McCain and Sara Pelin cling. McCain still wants to invest Social Security funds in the stock market, he still supports deregulation of the banking industry, he still supports the Iraq War, he still wants to spend trillions of dollars there, he still supports corporate welfare, he still supports tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

"Obama you make me sick. You and your dark past. How anyone can vote for you is beyond me. If the African Americans wanted to have a black President for the first time in history you would think they would pick one that did not have ties to people that hate America."
So Sarah Palin's ties as recently as this year, when she supportively addressed the Anti-American, Secessionist group her husband openly belonged to until 2002, doesn't bother you?
John McCain's documented former ties to the U.S. Council for World Freesom, a group that openly supported and supplied right-wing Death Squads and former Nazis and Nazi sympathizers during Iran-Contra - that doesn't bother you?
I'll take a guy who served on the board for a charitable trust and once entered the home of a former Wetherman who is now all grown up, over a woman with ties a hair's breadth from treason and a man who sided with nazis and death squads any day. Dark histories, indeed!

What is amazing with american journalism, which is among the worst among the world, is the idea of neutrality. I do respect Campbell Brown for pointing it out clearly recently. This is the idea that reporters should only report the news without commenting it or putting it in a broader context. The end result is truly pathetic. As an example, you end up hearing Crowley saying both campaigns attack their rival's character. Of course it is totally b.s. analysis. You have one campaign where supporters scream "kill him", following hatred being stirred by Palin and McCain themselves, and then you have Obama attacking McCain's policies now and before (Keating five for example).
The two campaigns are completly different but because journalists completly miss the difference between being objective (not taking a partisan point of view) and being stupidly neutral, you end up with statements from journalists that bear no ressemblance to reality.

Thought everyone might like this……..
Throughout the campaign this year, McCain has tried to make the contest about honor and character. His own writing gives us the standard by which he should be judged. "Always telling the truth in a political campaign," he writes in Worth the Fighting For, "is a great test of character." He adds: "Patriotism that only serves and never risks one's self-interest isn't patriotism at all. It's selfishness. That's a lesson worth relearning from time to time." It's a lesson, it would appear, that the candidate himself could stand to relearn.
"I'm sure John McCain loves his country," says Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism czar under Bush. "But loving your country and lying to the American people are apparently not inconsistent in his view."

The same with our vehicles, either pay as agreed or lose them. No, I guess we could have said we were mislead and too stupid to read the contracts and maybe this would have qualified us for Governmant bailout but we are too proud to pull those shananigans. Good points…W.Ayers was not convicted of anything but McCain's friend, Keating, was convicted. Palin appears to be using the same tactics that most radical, communistic groups do…spread fear, feed hate and enhance ignorance. Way to go Paliin. This is really who you want leading your country when "Putin rears his head over there". Try giving the 'real' American people a break and lay off the pork barrel requests and use your own drill and kill money in Alaska to pay for your children's travel. Oh by the way, who is nurturing your infant son while you run all over the country claiming to be an advocate of special needs children?

McCain is an idiot. He gives stump answers such as "I will take care of you, I love you". Give me a break. Americans can take care of themselves, we just want good leaders to work for us. We don't need a daddy.
And speaking of daddy, how much did he "love" the kids that he abandoned?
My vote goes to Barack Obama who doesn't treat Americans like children.

How can anyone take Obama seriously? Just look at who he cavorts with — hollywood, domestic terrorists, extreme librals. When he talks you can tell he doesn't have a clue about how health care works, the economy, business, or national security. The only thing he leads is the "blame America" crowd. It will be worse than Clinton if he is elected.

This is very creepy and just goes to show you Palin's appear to men.
Richard A. Lowry is editor of National Review and a syndicated columnist. He regularly appears on the Fox News Channel. He has guest-hosted on Hannity and Colmes and Fox & Friends, and is a guest panelist on PBS's The McLaughlin Group and Fox News Watch.
This is what this creep said about the Sarah Palin debate with Joe Biden…
A very wise TV executive once told me that the key to TV is projecting through the screen. It's one of the keys to the success of, say, a Bill O'Reilly, who comes through the screen and grabs you by the throat. Palin too projects through the screen like crazy.I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it

I agree polls mean nothing Kerry was ahead of Bush right till election day. Bottom line if people want to be taxed to death on top of the bailout vote Obama. If you don't want your taxes rasied and even get a little incentive back vote McCain. Investors on Wall Street are laying low because they don't want to be taxed on their capital gains if by chance Obama gets in. Obama can tout the big companies making money, but they employ thousands of people and if they are going to see higer payroll, capital gains because Obama wants to give these tax cuts, there will be more and more layoffs after the election he gets in.

pumpkin eater: The current crisis has its cause in the climate of deregulation that goes back to Gramm Rudman in 1999 which John McCAin co sponsored. The Bush years saw that climate of deregulation only get worse. With decent oversight and regulatory enforcement, this may have been avoided. There is blame on both sides, but the budget that appropriates dollars to the enforcement agencies has been in Bush hands since 2000.

I still don't understand why the economic crisis is being blamed on the Republicans. The Democrats control the congress, and have for the last 2 years. Has anybody told them? They didn't even seem to know there was a crisis until President Bush went on the air to tell the nation. They didn't even want to take any action unless they could get the majority of Republicans to go along, and the Democrats are in the majority. How can John McCain be blamed for wanting to do something about a financial crisis that is now affecting the entire world? How can Obama and his party be praised for not even acknowledging a crisis, and then not wanting to actively take charge even though they are in the majority?

To "Truckers for McCain" and other fearful Republicans.
You have been swept up in the Republicans' campaign of fear and hate. Is this how you want to be thought of: a fear and hate monger?
All politicians have skeletons in the closet. They all have to compromise their personal values sometimes in order to "work" with other politicians that they may not agree with, morally.
Such is the case of Barck Obama working with Bill Ayers.
This is an example of talking with everyone, even your enemies, in an effort to solve a problem.
And, please, don't give me the other Republican message of "experience". I won't mention all the Presidents with no real federal politial experienc, except one: Abraham Lincoln.

Who puts our troops in danger more: the maverick who votes to attack, attack, attack even if the Math is Fuzzy or the leader who says we should concentrate our troops more efficiently elsewhere to have greater gains and success?

I am neither Republican nor Democrat and voted for Bush and in my home state of Texas, Rick Perry.
However, what has distressed me about the Republican party recently is their inability to listen to what the PEOPLE want rather than what THEY (Republican party) wants. A majority of people in Texas want VLT's at racetracks but the republicans have blocked attempts to put that issue to a vote in Texas. One republican legislator stated that "the people did not know what was best for them."
Also, in my own hometown in Texas, the republicans ignored the citizens of that town on an issue and instead of putting it to a vote on the issue, they found a loop hole in the law to be able to go ahead with that project without a vote.
That is my concern about the Republican party…..They force their morals or ideas on Americans whether you like it or not.

Dear CNN, why don't you guys do a story about John McCain's involvement with a terrorist group that employed death squads in Latin America? John McCain sat on the board of…the U.S. Council for World Freedom," said Begala, "The Anti-Defamation League, in 1981 when McCain was on the board, said this about this organization. It was affiliated with the World Anti-Communist League - the parent organization - which ADL said 'has increasingly become a gathering place, a forum, a point of contact for extremists, racists and anti-Semites. The USCWF was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in November 1981 as an offshoot of the World Anti-Communist League. The group was, from the onset, saddled with the disreputable reputation of its parent group. The WACL had ties to ultra-right figures and Latin American death squads. Roger Pearson, the chairman of the WACL, was expelled from the group in 1980 under allegations that he was a member of a neo-Nazi organization

Questioning Obama's patriotism is another form of racism. Which Palin played the race card in her comments about "him not seeing America like the rest of us". That is a racist statement that has been perpetrated on black people for centuries. In some ways, it is true because America has been very different for blacks as it has for whites. Blacks have not enjoyed all the privileges that whites have. Think about it, if someone treated you with disdain as America has treated black people, would you like them or not?

MY TAKE ON TONIGHT
McCain will be mostly character bashing, we can see from many of his erratic decisions that he has no strategy e.g. his views on the economy, his acceptance speech, his VP pick, his VP's view on the economy. His decisions are erratic as we'll see in the debate tonight as he tries to reiterrate the information crammed into his head by his team. How can people support McCain on the basis of war victory when he's having a hard time gaining a victory as President due to lack of strategy.
As for Obama, if he doesn't get too caught up in clearing up every accusation McCain throws, and stick to his views and his strategy for fixing the economy. Then he should be fine.

Republican supporters of Palin/McCain are rabid. Their lack of moral judgment when it comes to their actions is uncomprehensible. Shouting to "kill him" is rather out there to say the least. This is nothing new, I heard the same at the restaurant I was at on Saturday. The lies are out of control and the people who believe them shouldn't have the opportunity to vote.

I want to comment on the article at the top of the Political Ticker, about an Obama ad saying that McCain is lying.
I am glad that Sen. Obama has an ad telling Americans about the LIES that McCain & Palin are spewing!
Its disturbing that a man (McCain) who wants to be president finds it SO EASY to LIE! Wasn't this what BUSH did to enter into war with Iraq?
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES, THE RECORD & FAILURES OF THE REPUBLICANS. LET'S MAKE SURE THAT AMERICA WILL NOT BE FOOLED AGAIN!

Three events yesterday:
McCain has begun to try to cast doubts regarding Obama's motives - after tearing into Obama's character and saying "who is the Barack Obama" and audience member shouted "Terrorist!"
A uniformed officer introduced Sarah Palin saying that "Barack HUSSEIN Obama had something coming on Nov. 4″.
Then Palin who has now brought up Wright and Ayers and said of an Obama Presidency "I am just so fearful", brought up Obama's tie to Ayers and an audience member shouted "Kill him!".
The McCain camp has disgustingly descended even further in the tone of their rhetoric. They are now openly and deliberately stoking hate and fear and praying on deep-seeded biases. I understand the Presidency is a big prize, but is it really worth descending into such an abyss? They should be ashamed of themselves, and at this point, so SHOULD ANYONE WHO VOTES FOR THIS SLIMEY PAIR !!!!!!!

I saw McCain and Obama excerpts from their stump peech and press meeting respectivly this morning.
Once again, McCain said " we're in trouble, I know how to fix it"
Obama on the other hand, gave 4 points of a plan to actually do something.
That's why he will get my vote.
Substance over rhetoric.

Educated people aren't swayed by the lies of an elderly, sickly old man and his attack dog of no bite but of endless unintelligible bark.
Burn, McCain, and you know where.

McCain/Palin what are you two smoking????? Come up and take a fresh breath of air. Do either of you realize the US has/is gone to hell. McCain spend your money trying to help someone instead of digging up old dirt……Oh! but you are old. Sorry I forgot.
Senator Obama / Biden wipe they both out!!!!

John McCain has been open and honest about the Keating matter, and even the Democratic special counsel in charge recommended that Senator McCain be completely exonerated. By contrast, Barack Obama has been fundamentally dishonest about his friendship and work with the unrepentant terrorist William Ayers, whose radical group bombed the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol. Nor has Barack Obama come clean on his close friendship with Tony Rezko, a felon convicted on bribery charges who subsidized the purchase of Barack Obama’s home. It's obvious that Barack Obama is frantically attacking because he knows that most voters find these kinds of friendships, and the failed judgment they expose, to be unacceptable for our next president.

Mr "I'll pray for you all" where do you get your facts about Obama's ties to Saudis??? That is just plain dumb. Accusing without listing your source. I really would like to see some campaign reform when this election is over. Ms Palin claims to be Christian but acts like a demon with all her accusations. I am a Christian too and I "betcha" that there are alot of democratic Christians. Repuglicans should remember that while they demand that the world adhere to their views, that Christians are not suppose to judge anyone. GO OBAMA!!

Polls are meaningless, they had both Gore and Kerry ahead right before the 2000 and 2004 elections.
As we've learned over and over, NEVER rely on polls to predict an election's outcome.
When Americans actually vote, the results might not be what everyone's expecting.

Obama could come out on the debate stage with hair curlers and a bathrobe, and he's still getting my family's votes. The McCain-Palin ticket is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.
