From

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (CNN) — Obama just said that Health care should be a right. How do we get there? Obama's answers are far to abstract.

he was answering the question asked, unlike mccain

Subject: Referring to Senator Obama as "That One"

It was absolutely rude, disrespectful and deplorable for Senator McCain to refer to Senator Obama as "That One"!!!

saint paul mn   October 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

OK Schnider we know two things from your weak postings:

1) you are for mccain
2) you want these two different individuals name Obama and McCain to be clinton

let it go, this is 2008 and most of the voter population is not stuck (like mccain and you) back on the 70s, 80, 90s,

it is 2008 let it go…………………. NEW TIMES NEW GENERATIONS '

Lynne   October 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

I got it…sorry that you were unable to get it.

SM   October 7th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

McCain: "Just take your 5k to another state for your healthcare".
Not everyone has a private plane as he does .

Obama's Pitbull   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Bill Is in the Tank for McCain, you're wrong Bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

john ippolito   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

come on schneider- obama gave the answer. are you bias? old like mcbush or "out of it" like palen!?

Pay Attention   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Were you not listening? Obama was perfectly clear.

tphil   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Obama is not being "too abstract". He's not given the opportunity to rebut McCain as McCain is able to rebut Obama.

James1961   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Is it me or is Ted working on or has friends working for John McCain. John McCanin keeps saying he knows how to fix everything why dont he tell someone what his plan is

Greg in Oshkosh   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

He certainly wasn't abstract on his military/humanitarian doctrine.

Concerned Democrat   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

What is with this Schneider character…Obama this…Obama that. McCain is doing a horrible job.

forrealtho   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

He's not being abstract he's being realistic. They only get a darn minute!

Ashley   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

How is Obama being abstract? He is providing more plans of action unlike McCain who is constantly pointing fingers and bordering on being disrespectful.

voter   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

How is Obama being abstract when he said that people can keep their healthcare. Obama will work with employees to decrease the price of healthcare. If people don't have healthcare, the goverment will subsidise it. How much more specifics do you need? Meanwhile McCain had no plan?

leeva   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

neither one is really answering the question, however obama is being more specific.

i just want to know how in the world republicans plan to pay for anything or reduce the deficit and at the same time will not raise taxes. who will pay for this???

Jen from IN   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Again, as soon as he mentions his plans McCain and all the right will yell out "Socialism"

Carrie Pa   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I guess that I am hearing something different then you.

Cindy   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Bill are you sure you are a Political analyst? You are skewing your response to McCain, so maybe you are just a Republican supporter and not an analyst.

Diane Dagenais Turbide   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

One minute to answer is a joke in a debate! And yes, healthcare is a birth right!

Jessica, DE   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

STOP WITH THE "MY FRIENDS," GOOD LORD.

J. Edward   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

At least he doesn't talk down to the people. No winks or gosh gollys

EBC, Boyds, MD   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

SEN. OBAMA IS 150% RIGHT. HEALTHCARE FOR OUR CHILDREN SHOULD BE A "RIGHT", FROM DAY ONE!!

WE ARE THE RICHES COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, WE SHOULD HAVE THE BEST HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE!!!

GO OBAMA!!!!

GO OBAMA!!!

GO OBAMA!!!

GO OBAMA!!!

GO OBAMA!!!

GO OBAMA!!!

matt   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I'm wondering who Bob Schneider connects to? His reporting usually has very little to do with the issues that affect me.

Auburn Fan   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Tell me how…people who work and have the opportunity to get health care policies and choose not too because it would cut into the beer budget..have a RIGHT to healthcare paid for by the taxpayers. Because that's what Obama wants, to give it to everyone so that if they are NOT working, they get to go to the doc and send all those illigitimate babies to.

Lori from CT   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I don't agree- Obama was very clear why healthcare should be a right for every American. It's the little goblin under the stairs whose answers are completely ridiculous. McCain is useless.

Kevin   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I don't think you're watching the same debate as we are; and certainly not the same debate the focus group is watching. They, especially the women, are eating Obama's answers up.

CLS in VT   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Man why don't you just admit you are in the tank for McCain?
And don't keeo me in moderation.

OBAMA/BIDEN '08   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Who are you, Schneider? A McShame staffer? I haven't seen one blog from you giving Obama any positive views. I'd respect your "unbiased" opinion more if had just ONE good thing to say about Obama…. by the way there are plenty to pick from.

louise   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Hey - look up here in Canada. Ask my nephew who had the heart transplant when he needed it - without having to pay astronomical hospital or surgery bills. I think it's pretty clear when you say what you believe a right is… What's too abstract about that, Bill?

Roger   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

this is the worst debate in american history, without a doubt

RobK   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I feel like Schneider is trying for a job at Fox News tonight.

Flora   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

changing times   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Really Schneider what's the problem with you? He only has 2 minutes!!!!???? Get over yourself.

To the moon   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

IT IS A RIGHT. I have a right to it. Americans have a right to it.

You are right, Obama.

Phillip   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

How's it abstract that citizens who are unable to get insurance for themselves can join a federal program similar to those in Congress? I have no health insurance. I'm fighting tooth and nail to get some. And what he said makes sense to me.

leshell   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

they only thinng these two want is to be president. sad to say i have to pick the lesser of the 2 evils

phorse   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

i think you got confused. McCain did not answer//

OBAMA/BIDEN '08   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Who are you, Schneider? A McShame staffer? I haven't seen one blog from you giving Obama any positive views. I'd respect your "unbiased" opinion more if had just ONE good thing to say about Obama…. by the way there are plenty to pick form.

Diana   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Are you watching the debate?

Cody   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

almost just like this comment. Please, being abstract is the definition of McCain. Just looks at his answers to anything outside tax policies, in which Obama owns him at.

Jason Madison Kings Bay GA   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

McCain is the one not asking the questions

Duop Chak, Colorado Springs, Colorado   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

The townhall set-up debate seems to be too little for their political agendas (at least for tonight).

Christine El Paso   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

First you tell the American people why you don't think we have the right to health care!

Chan   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

He playing it safe today. He does not need to hit it the ballpark tonight.

scoot   October 7th, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Most answers have been long winded nothing

Mary, Dublin, Ireland   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Obama can never seem to get his point across in the time available and McCain's lame jokes are falling flat. This "town hall" format does not work very well.

frank   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

what is abstract about my child having a right to decent health care without putting the family in BK? thats pretty clear to me

Jessica, DE   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

He answered the question, as it was asked. Are you paying attention, Bill?

Sonam- GA   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

unbelievable bill.

listen for once.
He spent several minutes over his time limit going over health care, and the little line at the bottom was sky high.

stop typing and thinking up new headlines for your next anti-obama article and LISTEN.

chris   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Obama is right. His plan is sound. As a future doctor I believe his policy is right for americans.

No Hillary = No Obama   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

HELLOOOOOOO - HE'S A CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER, HE LIVES IN HIS BRAIN, HE LECTURES ALL THE TIME. WHERE'S HILLARY?????

Independent but Leaning   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

No teleprompter = no answers = babble

wes   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

to? Or too?

Dee   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I AM SO SICK OF YOUR BIAS. ARE WE WATCHING THE SAME DEBATE. AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A JOURNALIST. SHAME ON YOU

concern   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Do you have your Mccain buttons on?

Stacy from Leesburg VA   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Bill, if Obama is being abstract, McCain is being incomplete.

Erin   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

What do you mean how do we get there? He answered the question he was asked and I think answered it well. And by the way, it's too, not to. Not TOO obvious that you are supporting McCain!

Joe   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I usually agree with you Bill, but wasn't the question "Is healthcare a right, priviledge, or responsibility?" Seems he was just answering the question.

Accountant Guy   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

At lease Obama is giving answers, instead of babbling like McBush!!

Obama/Biden '08

Thed Weller   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

For who? Average voter is more informed now.

ines   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

He can't lay out the details of such an involved plan in 1-2 minutes. Nobody can. What are you getting at?

martie   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Bill! Are you NOT paying attention??? He's going to lower the high premiums we are now paying so that people don't go bankrupt because their healthcare bill is too expensive to pay!

Marylou   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

well, we DON'T get there by giveing a 5,000 CREDIT..decent healthcare costs at least twice that and MCCAIN will tax the credit like income, thus raising taxes. Obama has the better plan

Q Glenn   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

We are about to have 8 years to see how he will get us there!

Obama '08

Tracy   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I supporting Obama, but I have to agree with you on this one. McCain is not much better.

Dave in Illinois   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Onama is abstract as he doesn't have specific's, all smoke and mirrors and "change".

Darren   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Health care should be a right. It's rediculous how insurance companies have been allowed to act they way they do.

J. Edward   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Interesting…I am not having any problem with his answers.

MaryJane   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Schneider….can you please be objective tonight? Is that why you're there tonight?

Robert   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Schneider being far too attacky.

I didn't think you were one of the shills. They never list you as a Republican strategist or something.

Are you watching the dials on your own network? They are loving Obama's answers, and repusled by many of McCain's

Pamela   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

What the hell? They are given 2 minutes to respond. Are you SERIOUS????

LT for Obama   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I thought his explanation was quite clear. How did you get abstract?

LITTLE JOHN   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

Obama has no knowledge of why they are in Iraq , then he has no business even trying to be president.

Manny   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

problem is…he only has a minute or two to elaborate

Becky   October 7th, 2008 10:05 pm ET

He's trying but they are ham stringed by the time contraints

dustin   October 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Is there anyone else at cnn beside schneider, i'd swear it's tucker bounds on the other end

JD in NC   October 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Go to his website. Full details there.

All McCain has on his is a bunch of "shoulds".

Betsy in Minneapolis   October 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Shove it, Bill. He answered it beautifully and you know it. You're just anti-Obama.

RS-Texas   October 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

NO MORE WAR-MONGERING!(especially for profit)….
AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS for a better life FOR AMERICANS IN AMERICA….
IF WE HAVE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND ON KILLING PEOPLE HALF WAY ACROSS THE GLOBE, on the suspicion that there is a possibility that they MAY be strong enough some day down the line to be able to attack us, then i think it is safe to say that…
WE NEED AND HAVE MONEY FOR STRONGER AND SMARTER AMERICANS….
!!FREE HEALTHCARE AND FREE FULL EDUCATION (incl.college) FOR ALL AMERICANS!! :)

Linda31   October 7th, 2008 10:04 pm ET

But he answered the question……..
