Cindy McCain is getting tough on Obama.
Cindy McCain is getting tough on Obama.

(CNN) – Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, appears to have sharpened her attacks against Barack Obama on the campaign trail in the final stretch of the race for the White House.

One day after she told a Tennessee newspaper Obama is running the "dirtiest campaign in American history," Mrs. McCain criticized the Illinois senator for voting against a bill to fund troops in Iraq, a regular line of attack from her husband’s campaign.

“The day that Senator Obama cast a vote not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body, let me tell you,” she told a Pennsylvania crowd before introducing her husband and Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin.

“I would suggest Senator Obama change shoes with me for just one day. I suggest he take a day and go watch our men and women deploying," she also said, to boisterous cheers from the campaign.

The vote Mrs. McCain is referencing came in May of 2007, when Obama was one of 14 senators who voted against a war-spending plan that would have provided emergency funds for American troops overseas. He, like many Democrats, was pushing for an end to the war in Iraq, and the legislation included no provisions for that. Before that vote, Obama did support and vote for a funding proposal that included a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq — a troop funding bill McCain opposed.

A CNN fact check deemed the charge that Obama voted against troop funding "misleading."

Cindy a bit of advice….
Stay out of this before Michelle Obama puts the smack down on you for talking about her man!!!

The woman stoops to stealing other people's recipies — RECIPIES?!? — and publishes them as her own, REPEATEDLY! Why?? Was she trying to pretend she actually cooked?? Trivial? No — It speaks to a deep-seated and pervasive contempt for honesty and honor. The woman is not credible on ANY subject.

Poor John McSame, now he has to hide between 2 "Barbie Doll / Stepford Wives" . This is what happens when you are LOOSING and you have NOTHING better to do or say to defend your cause. UNFORTUNATELY for the McSame's the American people do not care what they have to say. They apparently think by taking another page out of the GWB handbook and scaring the people we will jump ship and join them, but you know the old saying "Fool me once same on you, fool me twice shame on me" . You cannot fool the American people again with those tactics. Bye – Bye McSames and Sarah you on November 5th you will be home just in time to hunt for your Thanksgiving MOOSE.

FLDem   October 8th, 2008 3:41 pm ET

Cindy, I think you forget which campaign you are supporting. John McCain has been running the dirtiest campaign in history, NOT Barack. McCain uses false fear tactics against Obama instead of talking about the economy crisis. McCain's own crowds were chanting hateful remarks against Obama and he did nothing about it. Referring to Obama as "THAT ONE," is so condescending, refusing to look at him in the eye in the first debate is rude.
Stop the hypocritical complaints, you're not the victim, John McCain.
Your slogan says "Country First," but I guess that's right after "Me first." Right John?

Vegas Barbie for Obama   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

OMG, spare me the grief! Probably not too tough to send a chill through THAT bag of bones. Stick to the medicated grins in the background, Cindy! Leave the parrot act to Puppet Palin. I can't wait to watch Larry King tonight and see the REAL future First Lady, Michele Obama, dealing with all of these topics with grace and dignity.

Desparate People   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Does anyone remember how people couldn't stand the fact that when Bill was running for office everybody wanted Hillary to shut-up, why is ok for the wife of a Republican to get involved in a presidential campaign but not the wife of a Democrat. It is time for a change; McCain/Palin ticket is erradict and desparate; we don't need these people representing this country. Country First vote against McCain/Palin

Ever notice how the crowd at these Republican rallies chants 'USA USA' at jingoistic melodramatic statements, and boos and hisses when mud is slung? So juvenile and immature.

These are the same idiots who think the world is black and white, "good guys" vs "bad guys". No wonder thats exactly what Palin says.

I think "Beer Barbie" should go back to one of her 7 mansions and study up on the facts since this statement has been tried over and over by John and has been proven false and John voted agains the very same bill. Of course, I'm sure Beer Barbie's son didn't have to go without anything while he was deployed. Some parents didn't have the option of being rich and before there was even a vote on additional funding, the republicans were making the troops buy their own protective vests (if their parents could afford it), and gerry rig armor to put on tanks that were not sufficient. All this while paying the Blackwater crew 100 times what they paid our troops. Nice try Barbie, or errr, Cindie (hard to tell the difference)!

Your son volunteered and is getting paid for it no one asked him to join the forces so don't patronize. Do not keep telling us about your history of navy because he is doing his dad a favor so he can get elected.

This woman is about as credible as McCain's other woman. What a threesome that is.

Lucy   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Americans honor those who have served their country. The are courageous soliders who have faught valiantly. Americans now have to make sure that our soliders are taken care of after the war, that they a healthcare system that can heal their wounds and that they have jobs to come home to that will support their families.

John McCain and Cindy "Barbie Doll" McCain can sit in their 14 Barbie Dreamhomes and fly around in their Barbie Jet, but they "really don't get it". It isn't about them. I still am hearing "me" and "I" in their sentences. American has to move forward as "we". We have to do what ever it takes to pull us out of this crisis and join the world's leaders to maintain peace around the globe.

Lynn in CT   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Just when you think they cannot top themselves, they go and do it.

Sad, but impressive. I had no idea the McCains, who are so high and mighty, could stoop so very, very low.

Perhaps we should invite them to a limbo contest! Oh, wait, John can hardly get up from a seated position. I take that back.

Nan   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

It seems the only way Republicans know how to campaign is by destructive rhetoric . They offer nothing positive – no solutions, no respect for either their Democratic opponent – or the voters. Nothing but mean-spirited clap-trap! I'm fed up with the Neo-Con "Trust Me – I know how to (whatever)".

And as for Sarah Palin – can't you just see her winking at and saying "Ya shur got a pretty place, I betcha" to the Queen of England?! God, please help us, if McBush and The Bubblehead get elected???

Jan   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Great,

being active on the campaign trail, does that mean that Cindy is now fair game? Well then, let's talk about her drug abuse, her illegal activities and the money she makes from the war in Iraq.

Albert Rolls   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Cindy McCain is a joke. She is so high and mighty why dosen't she release her income taxes. That junk about separate taxes is a joke. They live in a joint property state which means that what is his is hers and vice versa. Maybe she dosen't want us to know about all those foreign investments she has in shady countries.

AL voter   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

It is amazing to me that Cindy McCain has the audacity to state that Obama is running the dirtiest campaign ever, when her husband's advertising has been the disgraceful. He also, called Obama "that one" last night. As a African American women that can be taken alot of ways and it is defininitely not positive. If was if he was addressing an animal.

Josh   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

How is the Stepford wife going to understand most Americans?

Coherent1   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Cindy, is this your call for Michelle speak against John, so his campaign could have a reason to go after her???? Cindy, you think Obama is running the "dirtiest" campaign in American history? Or, is it that you don't know much history? Cindy, I take it you believe that John is running an honorable campaign???? Cindy, why are you speaking? Cindy, did John threaten to hurt you if you didn't utter those comments. If not, you've got to be stupidest, yes I said stupidest, potential first lady in American History. How about that for our children's history books.

Wendy in NC   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Ummm, Cindy…the day your husband voted AGAINST the GI-Veteran's bill it made our blood run cold. How can you say you are for your military and then vote against them, saying in a town hall meeting that the bill was "too generous".

Republican Supporters in the Dark   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

I have been so repulsed by John McCain's campaign for the past 3 weeks or so. What makes it really hard for me is that I wholeheartedly supported the Republican party for their conservative 'ideals' during the past two election runs. Now I feel so dirty, like I would just want to shower everytime I think about my past support for them. It's like waking up out of a nightmare and seeing the light. They are a bunch of hypocrites, they are sleazy and would basically do anything to get elected. John McCain is doing to Barack Obama what was done to him by Republican operatives like Karl Rove, in 2000. You Sir, have you no shame left. You have lost your integrity as a so-called straight talker. Your actions have been dishonourable and for that you are going to lose this election and fade into oblivion. The political wilderness awaits you Senator. I even felt sorry for you at one point, because I know that becoming President is a long-held ambition. Now all I feel is disgust. And by the way Mrs. Cindy McCain your character does not hold up, so please thread lightly. The Hindus call it Karma, I say you will reap, bitterly, what you sow because the American public are going to reject you come Nov. 4, and overwhelmingly.

Dan   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

The McCain campaign will go down both on election day and in history as America's referendum on the end to old school politics and the cultural wedging of America. We will move this country forward with real change, real leadership. Obama/Biden!

DebraW-NY   October 8th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

I suggest that Cindy McCain change shoes with me for just one day, and watch how she handles trying desperately to hold onto a job that could be gone without warning on any given day, watch a 401K plan that you stringently saved be decimated in the course of months, worry about what happens when the money for your bills disappears and what happens to your aging parents who had saved well for their retirement, only to be stricken with cancer and then have GM fold up their healthcare plan because overly compensated executives made bad business decisions……Executives that all vote Republican, I"m sure.

So go cry on somebody else's shoulder Cindy, I've no sympathy. You wanna save your son?…Tell your hawk husband to end the war he couldn't wait to start.

Rick S   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

This is utter baloney, coming from someone who said spouses should stay out of it. When Michelle addressed her crowd yesterday (because she does not need a chaperone) she never mentioned Sen. McCain only spoke of her husband. If this had been Michelle all hell would have broken lose- why don't you go steal some vicodin-pill popper- or better yet find another husband( since you like stealing them)

Mike in Sacramento,Ca   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Is it funny how Cindy is getting into the act? Whats the matter can't Jonny boy or Ms.Mouth speak for themselves? More lies from the Family of liers.Did'nt see this one coming.

lensmith   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Honestly what a liar Cindy McCain has turned out to be. And, what a low campaign John McCain is running. Just putting Sarahhhhhhhhhh on the ticket scares me greatly.

As for Cindy's son in Iraq, he shouldn't be there as Joe Biden and Sarah Palin's sons should not be there. It is too much of a risk to have these people in Iraq. Read the oped by John Eisenhower about being in Korea at the time his father was President and how he should never have been there.

Edward   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Did anyone tell Cindy that HER HUSBAND VOTED AGAINST FUNDING THE TROOPS when the bill had a timetable? Did that send any chills through her body – that he husband wanted to put her son in greater danger? Or not so much?

27 days until America tells McCain/Palin thanks but no thanks.

McHoover Would Destroy What's Left of America   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Shocking, Cindy McCain said something MISLEADING per CNN

I would call it a LIE since you know she wasn't really following legislation on a day to day basis.

How stupid do these people think the American public is?

Andre   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

to "Go Cindy"

I suggest you read up on McCains record concerning this matter or better yet, read some of the blogs of people on this board who are a lot more informed than you. A couple of different veterans groups have given Mr. McCain low marks on his record concerning their interest. Futhermore, Mrs. Obama probably didn't shake Mrs McCain's hands because she didn't want any of the slim the McCains are waddling in on her hands. We got our futures at stake, our childrens future and all silly people like you can do is babble about flag pins, pathetic.

Kristina, Seattle   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

I find it interesting that Cryptkeeper McCain ignores the fact that her hubby voted TO SEND HER SONS to Iraq in the first place, and was AGAINST ANY TIMELINES TO BRING THEM HOME. Total hypocrasy.

Brett, VA   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Well, I guess it's Halloween because the witches are out.

It's getting ugly because John is bringing out the big guns–his women. First he trots out Sarah Ping Pong Palin who is as dumb as lint, then he brings out Barbie who is so stupid she allows her husband to call her the "c" word.

We're shaking in our boots John, really.

Joel Miller   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

The McCain campaign would do well to follow Ed Rollins advice and spend the rest of the campaign patiently outlining their program to solve the economic crisis. McCain could build on the initiative he laid out in last nights debate, namely the idea of helping home owners with bad mortgages refinance their debt.

The attack strategy that Cindy McCain and Sarah Palin is unleashing is a big turn off for many and a source of disappointment for those who thought McCain was a different kind of politician. It also shows the McCain crew to be erratically grasping at phony issues and reinforces the charge that they have no new ideas of their own.

Jim B   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

I liked her better when she was on drugs. She made more sense then. If we are going to elect people married to drug addicts I can suggest a number of better prospects.

Both Sarah and Cindy should have been put on a short leash. Neither knows "squat" about anything important. They should have been made to stand there and look pretty like a good little Republican wife does. Except Sarah needs to bleach her hair.

Mark G   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

I tried to think of another word to use…but there is just no other one that does it justice…Hypocrites! How dare you lie to me like that and pretend that your husband is innocent. We ALL know that he didn't vote to not fund the troops…he voted against a lot of irresponsible and damaging things, but not the troops. Don't you dare try to pull that crap on us. We are too intelligent to let you get away with that. Take your false attacks and go back to Arizona. No one wants you in the white house.

Mike   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

How disingenuous! The issue was NOT funding the troops. The issue was whether a timeline for withdrawal would be included in the bill. Obama voted for the version with a timeline, and against the version without one. McCain voted for the version without the timeline, and McCAIN VOTED AGAINST the one with a timeline. So her husband's votes should have been just as chilling to Cindy as was Obama's.

This is a great example of how desperate the McCain/Palin campaign is becoming, and how deceitful they have become. Even Cindy.

Rodger   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Cindy is not the brightest light on the tree…maybe she is starting to believe some of the lies repeated and repeated at her husband's rallies. Even though the have been proved at lies, if they are told over and over again, and you hear them over and over again, the begin to sound familiar.

STEVE   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Mccain, cyndy and palin they are all little liars. They want to get the white house by all meansss.
BY THE WAY WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR "CHANGE" MESSAGE?

Good luck America

K Michael   October 8th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

It is truly scary how the McCain campaign and surrogates are inciting such fear and threats among their supporters. In recent campaign stops, McCain supporters have been heard yelling, 'Terrorist' and 'Kill him'. The Secret Service is currently investigating the 'Kill him' threat against Obama or Ayres. We deserve better from our leaders.

I trust Obama will increase his focus on the severe economic and security issues that confront us.

The lies and belittlement you guys stresses is obsurd and down right nasty. If you are a proud mother to have a child fighting in a war that had nothing to do with 9/11 than same on you. However there are those fighting because of misguided and misinformed information from Bush/McCain.

So when pointing fingers you better look at your husband. No-one should be fighting war for the wrong reason.

CNN: please post my thoughts.

Sammy   October 8th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

Old news and it all has to do with the timetable argument. Since it had one McCain voted no and Obama voted yes. And then the opposite happened. I am just curious however. Considering how much information exposure there is to people nowadays, how many people know this.

If they have not already done so, I can see an add that goes something those lines and include the 100, 100, million years comment. It is stretching the truth but what else is new.

The secret service are starting to investigate people in the crowds are McCain and Palin events. It is clear that the McCain camp is promoting violence and hatred. This is similar to what occurred in Germany in the 30's. There were desperate economic conditions and one candidate promoted hatred towards others and suggested that his country was the better than all other countries. McCain and Palin will go down in history as a failed attempt to do the same 80 years later.

"She said that she used the drugs from 1989 to 1992 and acknowledged that she had stolen some pills from the American Voluntary Medical Team, a charitable organization of which she is president . . . at one point, McCain, 40, was ingesting 15 to 20 pills a day . . . the normal dosage for seriously ill patients is 6 to 10 a day for a short period."

For her and the entire campaign to continue to repeat such slanderous and dangerous lies – including the "terrorist" garbage, is irresponsible at best and just plain desperately nasty.

Janine   October 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

“The day that Senator Obama cast a vote not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body, let me tell you,” she told a Pennsylvania crowd before introducing her husband and Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin.

I get a chill too when you're husband talks about being a veteran all the while voting against benefits for them every chance he gets. Wow! What a hypocrite. Be careful when you point a finger…there's three pointing right back at you.

DigDug   October 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

I come to these comments to try and grasp the mindset of the American people, and to determine where I stand among them as a fellow American. I must say, I find the comments made in defense of the Republican Campaign to be shocking. At this point in time, any defense of McCain as to his "consistency" or "honesty", and any comments as to the "desperation" of the Obama campaign or their "dirty tactics" are about as absurd a proposition as they've ever been. Yet people – usually an "Amy from Texas" or a "Cooter from Utah" – somehow feel the need to post such lines. In response I ask, do you REALLY believe that John McCain has shown better judgement both in his performance as the head of his campaign and as a 35-year senator than Obama? Its one thing to be loyal, but entirely another to be disingenuous. Why can't you accept defeat gracefully and with your head high – or are you taking cues from McCain and spiralling into a hole of frustration and anger?

Sean   October 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Is she kidding?

When you go to Obama rallies, do people in the crowd get worked into such an angry state that they shout out "terrorist" or "treason" or "kill him" at the mere mention of McCain? Never. And yet it's happening with more and more frequency at McCain and Palin events as a direct result of McCain's negative, dirty campaign tactics.

The McCains, the Palins, and their campaign staff should be ashamed of the mob mentality they're actively coaxing out of their base of support.

Florida Voter   October 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

I smell some desperation by the McCain campaign.

She's only going to lower her own favorables by doing this. Everyone knows the whole story.

Bill, Tampa   October 8th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

YOUR HUSBAND VOTED FOR YOUR SON TO GO INTO IRAQ(the wrong

Blame it on George and John.

First Palin, and now this?

Did anyone notice how she didn't even glance at Michelle Obama last night? Walked right by her….

Ron   October 8th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

I was listening to McCain's speech in Bethelem PA today and ar about 2:40 PM he refered to us Americans as his "fellow prisoners" Im not sure what his intention was but I am a VET and an AAmerican who lives within his means and am not anyone's prisoner. I used to believe in McCain and his honesty, but now I see only another politican who wants and will do or say anything to get elected. When will the people of our counrty take back our government from these theves and scoundrels? Now Cindy is spewing her husbands lies. How low do we have to go.

How and Why is Cindy McCain getting involved? This is between John McCain and Barak Obama. It's ridiculous for a 1st lady to inject herself into a race that has absolutely nothing to do with her. Why is she on stage behind John at every event? She distracts the message with her cheerleader head-nodding and smirky/snobby laugh when John McCain throws mud. It makes both of them look bad. It's sad to see John McCain go down to the wire in this election employing the same tactics that were used against him dispicabley by GWBush. There is no honor in this.

"You and I together will confront the $10 trillion debt the federal government has run up and balance the federal budget by the end of my term in office. Across this country, this is the agenda I have set before my fellow prisoners and the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent."

Are we Americans watching the same campaign that Cindy, Sarah and John are?

By the way dear, Johnny voted against funding bills as well because the Democrats actually want to being your kid home from Iraq. What nerve!!!!

Tammy - KCMO   October 8th, 2008 3:35 pm ET

Funny – I'm looking at McCain's record on voting for the military. Since 2002 I see 4 times he voted yes, 10 times he voted no, and 12 times HE DIDN'T BOTHER TO VOTE AT ALL!

Praetorian, Fort Myers   October 8th, 2008 3:35 pm ET

No change shoes with a mother who has a son or daughter engaged in a war. Then deny funding for necessary supplies, equipment necessary to sustain them in that war–because of petty political posturing that NO member of the Democratic majority had the fortitude to pursue.

The thought–your mail, adequate ammunition, food, supplies will be available to you when you're fighting a war your own country sent you to fight–because of Senate bickering–is a moral buster.

Of course–you would have to have some knowledge of life in harms way to understand that–and of course Barack Hussein Obama is unprepared and ill-equipped to understand the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of the American warrior.

Isn't that what America is looking for? For Cindy McCain to suggest that Obama's campaign is dirty, while McCain lies with every breath he takes, is absolutely ridiculous. Seriously Cindy, I think you need to hit up that charity you were stealing the meds from again and get back on the pill. Obama has my vote for sure!

Michael Dunn   October 8th, 2008 3:34 pm ET

Sooo what went through your spine the day your husband abstained from voting on the same bill that included a time line for getting our troops out? Common McCains how dumb do you think American are? Look McCain opposed a version of the bill that included a time line for withdrawal, Obama opposed the bill that didn't include the time line. The matter of funding the troops was agreed! My God is there anything that can come out of the McCain campaign other than BS?

The Democrats and Republicans are both running "dirty" campaigns.

They continue to try to force third party candidates from ballots in many states. They have made it impossible for third party candidates to be in the debates.

They are both scared of real change. This is America and there are more choices for anything other than for President. Most people still think that they have to vote for McCain or Obama–two senators who just proved that they will work against YOU. They took your money and gave it to wall street–with no apologies and more pork. They will not offer change.

OS   October 8th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

Cindy and Camp,

Do you, Sarah Palin and John McCain think if a any human being on the face of this earth bears a muslim name line Hussein or Mohammad or Akabr – They are by default terrorist.

This was the impression given by one of your Uniformed police officer when he was introducing the dumb Sarah Palin in Florida the other day by calling the middle name of Barrack Obama.

This shows how uneducated, ill-informed and illieterate your husband and Palin,s supporters can be.

You all should go and get some elementary education.

Jennifer   October 8th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

Did you see her at the debate? She didn't even shake people's hands except for Brokaw and Obama. But the little people in the audience, she just stood there and followed John like an uppity shadow. She has a nerve!

Cindy McCain and her husband are the very definition of IGNORANT on this issue. Unfortunately the American people are not and they will demonstrate it at the polls.

I mean, let's be real. You're 'the other woman' not only in your marriage, but in this campaign. He left his first wife for a younger woman – you…he left conventional wisdom for another woman – Pailin…next step…could history repeat itself not only in McCain losing his presidential bid for the 3rd time but you losing him to…nah…let's not throw unnecessary conjecture into an election that already has substantive issues to be discussed. Silly, silly me…

Get Real   October 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

GO sit ur butt down!!!

Kenzie from Texas   October 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Another thing – I now see McBush as the ultimate wimp. Why is he letting the girls do all the "tough talk" here? I'm a female and certainly believe that most of us can hold our own – but why is he having them do all the dirty work?

Mike D. in San Diego   October 8th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Well Ms. McCain, the day your husband voted to commit the murder of tens of thousands of innocent U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians sent a cold chill through my body.

Tj oh   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

I'd like to step into her shoes. I think I'd do better with $100 million net worth by buying equipment for my son rather than purchasing a $300,000 outfit to wear for one night of the republican convention.

tom   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

when we started dating mccain, he was married at the time. and now she's the voice of moral authority?

RepubNoMore   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Someone tell McCain's trophy wife to STFU and STOP with the desperate, pathetic smears and lies. It's HER creepy, lying, scumbag husband who is running the dirtiest campaign in HISTORY.

bridgette   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

I would think they would be a little embarrased at the way they are conducting themselves. This is a man that is suppose to be able to be a world leader and while the world is watching he is making a fool out of himself. He and his campaign saying whatever pops in their mind. They have given up on reporting the facts and just are going for that fear vote. You know lets remind people that he is black.

C'mon!   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Honey, you're kidding right? You had no idea how Obama voted at the time, isn't that true? And did you get the same cold chill when your husband voted "no" to funding the troops, only with a deadline? Please. Please. Please. What sheer nonsense. We won't be fooled again.

PA voter   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

So desperate… It's all about the timetable and everyone knows it. McCain voted against funding our troops when a timetable was included, and Obama voted against funding our troops when a timetable was not included. Obama did not want to write a blank check to George W. Bush.

McCain's campaign is preying/praying on the uninformed voters once again.

Chris from STL   October 8th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Stop lying, Cindy. Check CNN's fact-check.

Kevin   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

"Change shoes?" It's unlilkely Obama could afford her $300 grand Manolo Blahniks. The McCain campaign just gets sadder, uglier and less relevant every day.

Vincent, Great Lakes, Illinois   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Cindy, I hope you would check out your husband's lousy voting record for Veterans. He got a D by the U.S. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans group. Obama on the other hand, got a B.

If you want, you can check for yourself on line. I doubt that they would lie.

Kim, Charlotte, NC   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

So, let me get this straight……..

Cindy is a liar too?

Foreign observer   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Instead of real answers they only go personal. What a shame. They believe American people are so stupid to repeat the mistakes of 2000 and 2004. Not this time.

wannabeobamagirl   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Ok, Obama…it's your turn. May the truth prevail. Shame on the McCain family. With Cindy now on board, it's take yet another turn for the worse. I've never felt more confident in my decision to vote for Obama come November 4th.

Mr. Eko   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Umm, was it equally chilling when John McCain also voted against funding the troops? Did that also send chills through your body?

Kenzie from Texas   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

I dont think that anyone really cares what Cindy Mccain has to say. And honestly there are probably quite a few people who would love to change shoes with her, what's she got? Manolo Blahniks? Does she want to wear my 3 yr old Nike's?

Go Cindy!   October 8th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Mrs. McCain, why couldn't Michelle Obama shake your hand last night; oh, I guess she wasn't "proud enough."

…she simply turned her back on you, the way Obama turns his towards the American Flag…

Tired of the Lies of McShame and Falin!   October 8th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Why doesn't anyone McCain camp every talk about the fact McCain didn't vote for a bill funding the troops either. He voted against it becasue it had a time line for ending the war. Obama voted against the one that didn't. He says this time and again, and it's been proven. Just more of the same from McCain. It's over dude. Hang it up, NOW!!!!

susie   October 8th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Obama is never clear on issues. He voted "present" over 100 times in the Illiois senate. He changes his mind constantly.

BBB   October 8th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Why is it the only person that doesn't seem to be saying anything is THE person running for president? I really wanted to believe in the McCain ticket… I have never voted anything but Republican. But now the mere thought of McCain/Palin in the White House scares me to death!

dustin   October 8th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Now you can add Cindy to the ever growing list of hypocrites in the McCain campaign

Maggie VT   October 8th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Geez, Cindy, John didn' t tell you he voted against a bill for troop funding??

PA voter   October 8th, 2008 3:28 pm ET

My, oh, my. If Mrs. McCain is actually speaking (vs. standing around looking like a deer in the headlights) then things must be bad. I'm talking BAD bad.

Mccain is a liar   October 8th, 2008 3:27 pm ET

Wow…change shoes with someone who owns 7 mansions, 13 cars, and worth a 100 million, wow where do I sign up!
