Sen. McCain is the target of a health care group's new ad.

(CNN)– With less than a month before Americans head to the polls, the liberal group Health Care for America Now released a series of ads Wednesday taking aim at Sen. John McCain and seven of his fellow Republican Congressional candidate’s health care plans.

“Under John McCain’s health care plan, 20 million people could lose insurance at work,” a woman who is battling cancer says. “He wants me to fight cancer and the insurance companies? Fine. I’ll take you both on.”

The group said it will spend $4.3 million on the 30-second TV and radio ads targeting McCain and seven congressional Republicans. The members of Congress will be personally targeted in their individual districts; ads attacking McCain will air in the crucial battleground state of Ohio.

It is amazing how Republican claim how Obama is such a socialist, say they want small government , fisical responsiblity, but they say they would vote for McCain.
Remember McCain put on his superman cape and flew into Washington and single handedly (according to him) negotiated the $700 billion bail-out package, then agreed when $150 billion was added as sweetener ... then to top it off suggested another plan of $300 billion last night
truly hypocritical that this is your guy plz ppl

Thanks for speaking out! Its obvious to anyone with a .......brain, that McCain's so-called-healthcare plan is a joke. He has no plan.

Last night's debate showed us that McCain is an angry, arrogant man. That he despises Sen. Obama.

McCain paced the stage like a caged animal, he did not make sense on some of his answers.

People voting for McCain have to be blind, because it is clear that McCain is slipping, that his age is getting to him.

John Mc Cain must think that the people in this country are iodiots about his health care plan of a $5000 tax credit. I an 64 yrs old and dont have any insurence because I cant afford $850.oo per mo premiums and with his plan I would still have to come up with the premiums to be able to get the tax credit, Being on solial Security and recieving $1178.00 per I would like to know how I can afford health care insurance plus house, car and utilities and be able to eat and pay for my medications. Thanks John for the help but your plan is not going to work, I still wont have health coverage.

McCain does not have a healthcare platform...he is just throwing out garbage in lieu of a healthcare plan, and what bothers me is the fact that some people in this country are actually buying it! Healthcare for all Americans and regulation of insurance companies is the way to go as far as I am concerned.

i'm an obama supporter, but i know that if we lived healthier we wouldn't need "universal healthcare"

there's nothing in the constitution that says that the goverment has an obligation to pay your doctor bills.

people who work deserve to pay their own health plan, people who dont work, and get all fat, unhealthy, and lazy need to pay for their own healthcare.

healthcare is a privilege for those who work for it, and not a right for people who refuse to work.

I have health care provided as a benefit by my employer. I do not pay taxes on that benefit as if it were income. Under the McCain/Palin ticket, I would have to pay taxes on that benefit and my income would go up. If my employer decides not to provide insurance, and I have to shop for my own, an individual cannot get the same low group rate that a company can get, so, right off the bat, I would pay more. A single person would only get $2500 for health insurance and that would in no way and no how come close to paying for the same insurance that I have now, for free, through my employer, who gets a tax credit for providing it to me. This is a lose-lose situation. One of many with the McCain/Palin ticket.

If I was asked to consider hire Sarah Palin for an executive decision, I would suggest she look into another field of endeavor. She doesn't have the talent for this line of work.

P   October 8th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Healthcare cost between $12,000, and $17,000 dollars per year, even if McCain gave you a $5,000 dollars tax credit you would still owe from $7,000 to $12,000 dollars, once he kicked you all off of your employers health plan. That is why your rates go up so much you get kicked off the employer’s health plan! Once you go off the group rate for healthcare you will go completely broke!

health care is a right .

I am in Canada   October 8th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

In Canada, we pay roughly around $ 50 per month for our service for health care systems
It may not be a perfect solution but at least better than not having one at all.
I believe it might be even less for children
I am sure that Americans can afford $ 25-$50 monthly for their health care and have freedom to choose family doctors and be healthy

P   October 8th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Many of the major countries and the second and third world countries have free healthcare and education why shouldn't the U.S.!

Why let American die so that a few will only be able to pay for healthcare.

Why have free healthcare for illegal aliens but not for Americans? It is stupid to take care of everyone else citizens but tell Americans you are own your own!

Why allow Americans to go broke lose their homes, cars and life, when we can all have free healthcare and education?

NV for Obama/Biden   October 8th, 2008 6:07 pm ET

Sen. McCain is sooooo out of touch!!! He has never had to pay for medical insurance! Never had to even entertain the thought in his head what it's going to cost for the doctor and the prescription when you dont have insurance.

Americans who work for small businesses who are offered medical benefits know that family coverage costs between $400-$800 PER MONTH – the premiums are based on "group" rates so the premium for a small business with say 40 employees and a large corporation with 1000's of employees may have the same exact plan but the premiums can be as stated above $400-$800 for the small business and $50-$200 for the large corporation. And God forbid you should lose your job and coverage you know what happens to most americans when they lose thier jobs and are then given the choice of COBRA. Your COBRA payment amount is what the actual policy for family coverage would cost. I worked for a large nationwide company with 1000's of employees – my contribution for family coverage (medical AND dental) was $220.00 per month when I left that job and received the COBRA information I would have had to pay the full amount of the policy which was OVER $1300.00 per month (medical only). I am now employed with a small company my monthly premium was $957.00 per month when I started but went up increasingly every year mostly because of claims made by two employees – one diagnosed with cancer and one had a heart attack so our company was put in a "high risk" category. My husband now carries our family coverage and works for a small business – monthly premium for medical $751.00 thats over $9000.00 per year! When you work for a company small or large you have the benefit of a "Group" policy so the size of your business determines the premium (as well as the payouts on claims). So just remember that while you are NOW paying maybe less than $5000.00 per year for coverage under your employer plan – what happens when you lose your job and have to pay for it on your own – private family coverage could cost you $12,000.00 per year or more and if your not working coming up with another $7000.00 (after Sen. McCains $5000.00) to pay for it is not going to be easy.

And on a side note: Holy stick it to the taxpayers once again Batman!!!! The Feds just approved an additional $37.8 Billion to AIG – after the $85 Billion dollar bailout AND their little junket to the SPA LAST WEEK!!!! YIKES!!!!!!!!!

John has a good record. He gets a good health care as a senator. He wants us to keep supporting his healthcare rather than giving us the same healthcare that he has.

Danielle, VA   October 8th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

This ad sums it up. McCain plans on making people's life more complicated; good health care is already hard to find so imagine trying to find insurance and doctors for a decent out of pocket price?...you won't! Health care is not a privilege, it should be the governments duty to keep it's people healthy..according to McCain he wants nothing to do with America being healthy and receiving fair and quality health care. People really need to think about what he's proposing; $5,000 will do nothing, is he planning on giving us $5,000 a year?

Greg "Hussien" Churchill   October 8th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

Last night John McCain complained that Senator Obama starts his answer to Health Care with "the Government Will Do X, Y, Z".

Senator McCain benefits from a government mandated healthcare plan.

If it's good enough for him, why is it so bad for poor folks in America?

I dont have a job and I need healthcare. This friday I'm going in for an appointment with a price tag of $195.00. I dont know how I'm going to pay for it. I cant afford the treatment.

I hope we have universal healthcare in America. Europe has it. We used to live in Europe and it was pretty nice to be able to go to the doctors.

Of course, like my friend mentioned, we dont want to overburden the doctor's office. Places like Walmart's optical center, should be used to relieve doctors of easy eye checkups.

Let's be smart. Evolve until it makes common sense.

Kelby from Houston, TX   October 8th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

McCain does not understand that, at this point, if your healthcare plan doesn't have the word 'universal' in front of it, the American peole are not interested in it. Right now, if you get sick in America, you get to file bankruptcy and see what it's like to be poor. I KNOW! I'VE SEEN IT!!
I have seen first hand people have to decide between food and medicine in the USA. I have seen people shell out hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for prescription drugs. The situation is enough to make you want to cry and vomit all at the same time.
