(CNN) - Barack Obama continues to hold significant leads over John McCain, a fresh round of state and national polls out Thursday suggest, in what is unwelcome news for the Republican presidential nominee as Election Day inches closer and closer.
The Illinois senator now holds a 6 point lead over McCain nationwide, a new CNN poll of polls consisting of five recently released surveys show, while 8 percent remain undecided.
A string of new state polls also show Obama holding significant leads in several key battleground states, including Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. McCain is holding onto leads in Montana and Missouri.
In Minnesota, CNN's latest poll of polls shows Obama up 11 points, 52-41 percent, while he holds a 9 point lead in CNN's latest New Hampshire poll of polls, 51-42 percent. Obama is also holding onto a 4 point lead in Ohio, 50-46 percent in CNN's latest poll of polls there.
In West Virginia, Obama holds an 8 point lead in a new American Research Group poll, though CNN's Sept. 21-23 poll of West Virginia showed McCain leading there by 4 points. In Wisconsin, a new Research 2000 poll shows Obama with a 10 point lead, 51-41 percent. CNN's Wisconsin poll earlier this month showed Obama with a 5 point lead.
In Missouri, a new CNN poll of polls shows McCain hanging onto a 1 point lead, while the Arizona senator has a 5 point lead in Montana according to a new American Research Group poll.

I am glad the majority of the American people are not buying into the McCain/Palin dirty politics. John McCain has lost any shred of decency he had left. I would have voted for him in 2000, even though I am a Democrat, but there is no way I could ever vote for a man who hides behind the skirts of his VP nominee and his wife. If you have something to say, say it, and not just on Faux news where you are treated with kid gloves. Go on "Meet the Press" or better yet go on "Countdown" or AC 360 and answer the hard questions like Obama did on the "O'reilly Factor."
As long as the repugs don't try to cheat in this election too, Obama will win. And if he runs the white house like he has his campaign we will be fine! Actually better than fine. See what the repugs don't realize is that most people are now enlightened and the negativity, lies and vindictiveness that john and sarah are putting out are turning people off. This country is moving beyond all that and this race is helping us to do that. But those two (mccain and palin ) aren't enlightened and they don't understand that. Only the unenlightened person will vote for mccain and palin.

McCain's Social Security Income: I'm a 53 year old male Independent 'middle of the road' voter. Months ago when John McCain released his tax returns I noted that he is drawing social security along with a military pension. I don't dispute that he is entitled to both, but it really bothers me that a Man with John's and Cindy's wealth is receiving monthly social security payments. He obviously doesn't need the income and considering the problems with funding the entitlement programs it seems to me to be very unpatriotic and selfish for him to draw SS benefits. I have not seen any comments about this during the election season which I follow closely. Doesn't anyone think this reflects on McCain's character?
I do not support an IN-EXPERIENCED candidate for President. This is a SURE way for FOREIGN speculators to BUY UP AMERICA. My VOTE is NOT for SALE. I will not support public politicians that lead this country down the PATH TO RUIN, selling OUT TO FOREIGNERS.

Thank God! With the sleazy campaign that mccain/palin are running I am disgusted with them. N.S I sent cnn a newstip about it, I think the more people that make cnn aware of voters being removed in swing state's the more they are inclined to report on it! C'mon CNN we cannot afford another stolen election, these people should be put in jail!
N.S.–If this is actually happening, I can't say I am surprised. It's a typical Republican strategy. They say they are removing non-eligible individuals and they are to some degree. However, they cut a wide swath and catch a number of people who can. By the time you realize it, the election is over.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have now abandoned all integrity and decency in the name of winning and find themselves presiding over hate rallies. We're paying attention, and it's taking it's toll. I find it deeply disturbing and fear someone is going to get hurt or worse. God help us all.
By my calculations there are only 14 states, with 119 electoral votes, where Obama doesn't have a chance. In the other 36, which ciollectively have 419 electoral votes, watch out, John! You could get crushed.
