New RNC ad mentions William Ayers

The RNC will begin airing a new ad Friday that mentions William Ayers.
The RNC will begin airing a new ad Friday that mentions William Ayers.

(CNN) – Republican efforts to link Sen. Barack Obama to William Ayers, a member of a 1970’s anti-war terrorist group, will increase Friday when a new ad from the Republican National Committee hits the airwaves.

“Chicago Way,” attempts to cast Obama as a stereotypical “shady” Chicago politician. Shot in black-and-white, the ad asserts “Obama’s first campaign was launched at a gathering at Mr. Ayers's home.”

The ad also mentions convicted Chicago businessman Tony Rezko, a onetime prominent supporter of Obama’s, and William Daley, a national co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign who is also the brother of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the son of legendary Chicago political boss Richard J. Daley.

“There’s more you need to know,” an announcer says as the ad ends.

The ad comes as the McCain campaign continues to carry out a more aggressive strategy of raising questions about Obama’s judgment and personal associations in the last month of the general election campaign. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin recently said that Obama sees America as “so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” in an apparent reference to Ayers.

The Obama campaign has hit back hard accusing the McCain of trying to distract voters’ attention away from the many challenges the country is facing.

The RNC says "Chicago Way" will air in major media markets in Indiana and Wisconsin.

If McCain had been a pal of a terrorist you would all crucify him. What a bunch of hypocrites! Obama has changed his story on his affiliation. Why the flip flop?- he has something to hide.

Any politician who tried to slag his opponent with such asinine ads would never win here in the Great White North. It certainly doesn't look very Presidential to see Senator McCain resort to such blatant mud-slinging. Not the side of you that you want to the world to see.

First...I would like to know why CNN keeps closing the comments once a couple of republicans get on.

Second...could you imagine if McCain had these ties...or used drugs?!?! The dems would be all over it and Obama would benifit from it too. This whole election goes to show that the media really does control American thoughts. Please people...think for yourself!!!

Did William Ayers cause this mess on Wall street?

Did William Ayers deregulate the banks in this country?

Did William Ayers cause my 401K account to lose over 66% of its value?

Get real republicans, your corruption has stolen our retirement – what do you have to say about THAT?

What in the world is McCain thinking, allowing this kind of trash to subjugate the economic crisis? Who cares if Obama knows Ayers.

Why in the world would McCain allow shouting threats from his rally people? what is happening to Americans?

This is a terribly sad commentary on the public on either side that would yell death threats to anyone!

I am so worried that people live on blogs, don't read good periodicals, take the word of any e-mail and close their minds to what the other side has to say.

What is happening to America? iNDYCATS

    oh come on!

my stocks have plummeted and I'm feeling poorer than ever and all McCain's camp is doing is nitpicking issues that we already discussed 10 months ago???

We've talked about Obama's name before. We've talked about drugs before. We've talked about Obama's religion before. We've talked about Ayers before. How about we talk about the ECONOMY now and figure out how I'm supposed to survive this economic crisis.

.... that is all McCain and his team can do to help the economy? They are trying to change the topic of the day when millions of people in america lost a LOT of money and their solution is what? Attack ads on Obama over something that is so irrelevant today.

To McCain and the republican party – you are the party of yesterday!

You know Obama needs to address this there is to many cretins out there that just eat this stuff up, never questioning or doubting that its true. I find it amusing that in 1997 Ayers won citizen of the year from the city of chicago. Pick up a Chicago newspaper and see what they are saying about Ayers you ignorant morons. Obama and Ayers served together on the Anberg Foundation as in Walter Anberg a righty supporter and as I understand a good friend of Ronald Reagans. This info has been vetted and is old news! John McCain has worked with Robert Byrd a senator with long ago ties to the KKK does that McCains a member too. Of course not, this kind of logic is BS, you right wing nuts need to go buy yourself a clue.

Mr. Ayers was a vietnam war protester who took it too far, of course, 40 years ago. 40!!! What does that have to do with wall street bottoming out and me wondering what my heating bills are going to look like this winter, and whether my retired mom is going to see another decrease in medical and ss benefits? This is beyond absurd. This is dangerous, and McCain knows it.

Sarah would be in jail in Canada – if she came here!

Section 319 deals with hate speech:

"If it can be shown that the speech was so abusive that it was likely to incite listeners or readers into violent action against an identifiable group, and if the the speech was made in a public place, then a person could be convicted.

And the speech would have to ocured in Canada...
