Palin rally in Virginia moved to NASCAR track

Sarah Palin's event Monday is being moved to a NASCAR track.
Sarah Palin's event Monday is being moved to a NASCAR track.

(CNN) – Hockey Moms might be the hot political demographic of the moment, but NASCAR Dads haven't been forgotten.

The McCain campaign is moving Sarah Palin's Monday appearance from the Arthur Ashe Center in downtown Richmond, Virginia - capacity 6,000 - to a much larger outdoor venue: the Richmond International Raceway, which hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races yearly and can accommodate over 100,000 people.

Watch: Cindy McCain goes for a loop around the race track

The campaign doesn't expect to fill all those seats, but McCain's mid-Atlantic regional director Trey Walker said the demand for Palin tickets has nearly quadrupled the capacity of the original event site.

The raceway is located in Henrico County, which will be slightly more competitive on November 4 than the city itself, which is firmly Democratic. In the 2006 Senate race, Republican George Allen edged out
Democrat Jim Webb, the eventual winner, by just over 500 votes in the county.

The event will be Palin's second of the day in Virginia after a morning rally in Virginia Beach, which, according to Walker, should be larger than the Richmond rally.

Sarah will still lose. She thinks she's being noble, but she's not. She's not even being American for dodging a subpoena. If she thinks she's above the law by just running for office you can imagine what she'll do if she gets in. America has had enough of royalty for the last 8 years. Enough is enough.

Do we really want such a dumb, unknowledgable, uninformative, erratic, cronist, lying, fear-mongering, hate instilling, unwise person in the white house who is literally a HEART BEAT way from the presidency...

  6. Sensible Woman for Obama

Palin moved her rally from Arthur Ashe because it is a predominately black area. Shame on you Sarah you want to divide and represent only a select few.

Unity is strength. We need strength to get thru this economy. We HAVE to leave this country better than we found it. Division is not the answer.

Sarah Palin rocks America-–Obama could not come close to her in TV numbers for the debates--and now she needs 100,000 person arenas for her rallies--

There's a huge silent majority out there for Sarah Palin and you will hear them on election day-

Good bye to Obama or Osama–whoever he is.

.... and will Sarah be babbling her usual lies ... punctuated with giggles, wiggles and wink and finger wagging?

Will she be whipping the base into a rapturous frenzy, chanting "kill the terrorist" rather than U-S-A?? One of these days, someone in her audience will take her seriously ... and there will be blood on her hands...

I guess they need their space for the fear mongoring speech she will make. Hopefully, more than half of the seats will be empty and people begin to see that the republican party is all about division.

Let's hope she doesn't try to whip up a blind frenzy of hate and encourage crowds to yell for anyone's death. What I have seen and heard in video this week harkens back to days of KKK crowds without the hoods. It's the 21st century and I'm shocked to see anyone gleefully selling hate and enjoying that energy.

Another all white event!! Obama's events look like a cross section of the country – white, black, brown, young, old, rich, poor, gay, straight. McCain/Palin events have an obvious lack of color in every sense of the word...

I have seen more and more Obama/Biden '08 signs here in West Virginia it almost make me wanna cry. mccain/palin can forget about Virginia, they are most certainly turning blue. For all you Obama/Biden supporters that believe in prayer, send them a prayer of protection and safety and wisdom to guide this country. Enough of the hate already!

Palin may be tricking a lot of Americans into thinking she's a hot new candidate ...

... but she's just another ugly conservative republican out to strip away our freedoms, wreck our govenment with incompetence and scare us into voting for another four years of failed George W. Bush-style politics!

Beware this wolf in sheep's clothing!

i wonder if they're moving it from the Arthur Ashe center because the MCCain campaign has decided to go with the veiled racism strategy? if so, perhaps they at least recognize the hypocrisy of holding a rally there.
