Obama released a tough new response ad Friday.
Obama released a tough new response ad Friday.

Barack Obama’s campaign released a new ad late Friday in response to a hard-hitting spot from the Republican National Committee’s independent expenditure unit that focused on his relationships with Chicago figures like William Ayers and Bill Daley; the script follows. The campaign has not announced where the spot will be airing.

NARRATOR: John McCain admits if the election’s about the economy, he’s going to lose.

Now, as Americans lose their jobs and savings, McCain’s resorting to smears and false attacks

Barack Obama launched his first campaign here (a picture of a hotel flashes on screen), not in anyone’s living room

And Bill Daley? He was confirmed as Commerce Secretary and praised for his great work by none other than John McCain (a picture of the two men together appears.)

It’s clear, with no plan to fix our economy, smears are all McCain has left.

(Republicans have alleged that Obama launched his first campaign in Ayers’ living room – a charge the Illinois senator has denied.)

I agree... McCain's campaign is the dirtiest one that I've ever seen. You can't just insult and divide our country just because you're losing... Didn't he say he was going to run a honorable campaign? It's all about smear and fear tactics now! The Dirty Talk Express has arrived to your town...

I am glad that Sen Obama has called Sen McCain and Gov Palin out. You don't have to be negative to get your point across. With all of the worries that Americans are facing today, I feel that it is disrespectful for McCain and Palin to try to distract people from the issues. If you took away all of the negative ads from McCain/Palin, what would you have?NOTHING!!!!!!!!

John in Oregon   October 11th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

Certainly he doesn't have any real leadership to offer–just four more years of the Bush disasters. Please stop the smears.

Bat 242   October 11th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

Well the Obama camp is pretty good with the smear campaign too, just it seems that McCain is using facts in his adds.

Pat Stooksbury   October 11th, 2008 11:59 am ET

I am so proud of Obama and the way his campaign has gone. Being a strong christian, I may not agree with everything other Democrats say but I definitely want a President that tells the truth and doesn't base his campaign on bad mouthing his opponent - specially when those comments are out right lies or misleading as have been the majority of the things the Republican campaign has said about Obama. The McCain/Palin campaign has proved to be dishonest now which leaves the door wide open for them to be dishonest if they were elected - heaven forbid!

B.H.   October 11th, 2008 11:58 am ET

John McCain has no where left to go except lies and false statements.
Sarah Palin accused of- ABUSE OF POWER- by 10 republicans and 4 democrats. Where have we heard that before- more of the same ABUSE folks!

I beg to differ with you, Mr. Obama, Sir. The McCain/Palin team also has abuse of power to add to all their other negative qualities.

This campaign has gone beyond decent ethics and I know McCain
knows and approves all of these tactics.. just look at his eyes when asked questions regarding them.. it will haunt him and all his supporters who approve of this type of rhetoric and sleazy tactics.
It is showing in the polls and most folks I know are "fed up" with this type of mud slinging.. both sides! It seems the issues are being ignored and America is in deep trouble and all had better wake up to that fact.. politics aside!

Ann   October 11th, 2008 11:55 am ET

Truth is what is left out Sen. Obama. For the last 20 months, your line was "political smears again me" , "use of the race card" .. no matter who pointed that you are a talker. Remember Hillary? and Biden? and Richardson? and Edwards? they all view you are nothing but propaganda.

Out of one side of his mouth he tells his audience (proving that he is the only sane person in the room) to tone down the rhetoric. Yet his campaign continues to bottom-feed.

John McCain is either confused or he has no control over his campaign. Either way it proves that he is incompetent to lead this nation.

Yes, that is all Mc bush has left. It wiil be successful if the white race in america becomes afraid to vote for obama. As for all other races of people through out the world we are interested in seeing obama win this election.

When this is over Palin will go back to Alaska and continue to a abuse the power of her position and most likely have more investigations into her Method of Operation of lashing out at those she feels have offended her in some way. McCain will continue to fumble around from one screwy idea to another to match the way the wind is blowing while telling everyone what a free spirit he is. What a sad state of affairs when this is the best the republicans can offer the country. Bob

The latest trend with the McCain camp seems to be unreported ... and that is ... he has been slammed for his mean spirited attacks on Barack .. so now, he has resorted to having shills in the audience to ask the mean spirited questions and then appears to defend Obama ... shame on you, McCain. How low can you sink? ..

michael   October 11th, 2008 11:46 am ET

Yes! A pic with John and Ayers both and McCain praised his great work? Guess that line of attack blew up in their pandering and power abusing faces, eh? You want to be respected again McCain? Drop out and denounce in no uncertain terms the tone of your audience and the campaign you were forced to run. Then I will speak your greatness everywhere as a TRUE American hero.

Steve   October 11th, 2008 11:46 am ET

During a McCain town hall meeting, he rightlyfully took the microphone away from a woman who referred to Obama as a Arab. McCain's response to the woman was that Obama was a decent, family man.

What John McCain failed to do was demonstrate statesmanship/leadership by not speaking to the fact that there are many Americans of Arab descent who are patriots, love and fight for this country, and that being Arab doesn't make one a bad person or a terrorist. What's interesting is that no media outlet has reported on this angle of the story.

CG in AZ   October 11th, 2008 11:44 am ET

I used to think Sen. McCain would make a good president, but no more. He has shown himself to be negative, angry, impulsive, and lacking in judgment. I'm particularly concerned about his lack of judgment in choosing Sarah Palin, an empty-headed, mean-spirited, and dishonest person. It's very scary to think that she could end up as president. I'm sick of attack, attack, attack, by both of them, as well as their lack of integrity. I am definitely voting for Obama.

Gohi   October 11th, 2008 11:44 am ET

Polically, McCain's camp is empty, no convincing arguments, so they are taking the dangerous road no matter what will be the outcome. And Sarah who claim to be marverick is not, according to the troopergate report. So it seems that McCain and Sarah Palin are dancing Calipso, a dance where we don't have coherence, should dance who can "Move". The downside is that the dancer can get hurt by another one.

With due respect, McSame has shown no exceptional qualification to be President. That is why he desperately chose now so quickly FAILIN' Palin. Great ad..McCain is only trying to change the subject from the economy (Which is all Americans care about right now) to anything other than the economy! It won't work, it is not working and that's why McCain is now back tracking on those nasty comments because it backfired on him. He's down 10-11 pts in some polls. This race is basically over because he's losing in the battleground state, which if this holds, will give Obama a blowout on Nov 4th....

SENATUS POPOLUSQUE ROMANUS   October 11th, 2008 11:41 am ET

How tragic:
John McCain used to be a decent Republican, a politician able to cross the isle and a maverick.

Now he is an old man, grumpy, erratic and his campaign and stump speeches, far from being those of the maverick we have admired, are a tired and stale imitation of Rove's led G.W.Bush Presidential campaign.
Only difference is that this time many Republican and Independent voters are no longer falling for that trap.

The maverick McCain is gone, only to be replaced by a McCLOWN.... what a waste!!!

Ceil   October 11th, 2008 11:40 am ET

It is sad that this once-respected man has resorted to this. I once respected him for the years of service he gave his country but now, especially with the Palin nighmare, I have little respect or sympathy for him. He is not a fit role model for our children and grandchildren and certainly not fit to be our commander-in-chief.

Bulldog   October 11th, 2008 11:40 am ET

McCain's pick of Sarah Palin is just another example of his horrible judgment. Sarah Palin along with her husband are very vindictive characters. The only thing Sarah is good at is smearing others. She claims she is an "expert" on energy but has consistently gotten her facts wrong about her own state's oil and gas policies and figures. She has no experience in alternative energy, just oil and gas and even that experience is questionable. She abused her power as governor and has cited "executive privilege" in a call for her refusal to release official state emails that her own husband was included on.

McCain and Palin clearly have no solutions, they only have smears to run on.

Judy Zukoski, Barnesville, PA   October 11th, 2008 11:40 am ET

It was clear from the start, when Sarah Palin presented her GOP convention speech, that the McCain ticket was intent on taking the low road; her speech was made up of sniping and negativity, delivered with cutesy smiles.

That tactic is now being taken to extremes by Palin, in particular, and by Sen. McCain as well. The accusations they toss about so freely in relation to Sen Obama are gross exaggerations and inaccuracies, not actual fact.

Why is it that nothing is being made of the REAL FACT that, until recently, Todd Palin belonged to an organization that preaches anti-Government sentiments and wants to SECEDE from the rest of the country? And the illustrious governor spoke at one of their rallies! She needs to remove that American flag pin from her lapel, as she obviously does not believe in what it stands for. She and McCain only want to win the election to satisfy their own blind ambition and, as seen in the past few weeks, they will resort to the lowest tactics to acheive their goal.

Junior in Michigan   October 11th, 2008 11:38 am ET

Great! I'm glad Obama has defended himself well! That ad says it all and is indeed true! The republican ship is sinking and there are no life preservers left marked "terrorist" & "fear mongering" to throw. The raging mad lynch mob right is empty and will soon be gone for good in a few weeks. Even McCain is getting booed by his own crowd. It's out of control within the republican right! They can't win by telling the truth. That's why Obama is leaving McCain and his followers in his review mirror. Obama/Biden 08!

Tristan   October 11th, 2008 11:37 am ET

This has been a recurring theme throughout history, actually. The losing side in any conflict becomes desperate, pulling out "all the stops" in order to increase their odds of winning. In the case of McCain-Palin, the campaing is resorting to the standard Republican tactics of fear and division.

This is how it works: the party scares people by suggesting that we as a nation are falling apart, that we are divided, and then gives us reasons to be divided. Then it turns around and says that it (the GOP) will bring unity and prosperity to the nation. This, despite the fact that all of our division and economic crises have been caused by who? That's right, the Republicans.

This is not to say that all Republicans are fear-mongers. Only the leaders are. The followers are usually just uninformed or misinformed. Generally this can be attributed to faith-based thinking. The same people that can believe in religion without verifiable evidence of ANY of the claims religion makes, are the same people that believe anything the Republican party tells them. They have the horrible, crippling disease of faith. What logical or rational creature can take everything they hear without a shred of evidence to support it?

This policy of McCain's is nothing new, so I'm almost wondering why I'm reading this here...

Bobbie   October 11th, 2008 11:37 am ET

Yes, Mccain did do good by letting one of his supporters know that she was wrong about Obama. However, he only put out a fire that he and his campaign started.

Paul   October 11th, 2008 11:36 am ET

John McCain needs to take a good hard look at his campaign and the people attending his rallies. Does Senator McCain want to be remembered for the kind of hate mongering supporters that now make up his base? His own people booed him when he said that Obama was a decent person and a family man. Those aren't the kinds of supporters the McCain of 2000 would have thrown in with.

McCain and his supporters scare me. It's gone beyond anger, and into hate and racism.

Yeah, I said it. Racism. Don't believe me? Think I am playing the race card? I'm a 25 year old white woman. The second I heard a McCain supporter refer Obama as an 'Arab', I knew that things had officially turned the ugliest it could get.

Shame on you, McCain and Palin, for letting it get this far. Your supporters are so angry now, no amount of calling Obama 'decent' will calm them down.

I'm so disappointed in what you've become, Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin. Let's look at hope – and, ahem, ethics.

Senator McCain's campaign is hurting. His rallies are looking like they are on the verge of becoming lynch mobs. They are full of angry people furious that he is losing to Senator Obama. When your supporters are shouting "Kill him", "Off with his head", Terrorist" and other incitements to violence when Obama's name is mentioned, it shows people out of control and irrational. It is the undecided voters who are looking at this and seeing the people who are for McCain acting crazy. This does not help John. His supporters need to realize that they are hurting his cause and whatever small chance he has left of turning his campaign around.

But over the course of these last 3-4 weeks, I would say, without question, that John McCain has proven to be lacking in the judgment department. His inability to process, correctly, concerns me. His VP pick is one of many examples. His erratic behavior. He grandstands to score political points at any cost while insisting he puts country first. The lists go on and on. I used to mock him. But I have run out of bad things to say. Maybe the POW experience is catching up with him.

Joe Ikunna   October 11th, 2008 11:25 am ET

As an independent, I am trully appalled by the tone of the McCain/Palin campaign. It shows that they have no intention of a united America which is what is required if we are to get ourselves out of this economic mess.

McCain's judgement is very questionable on a number of issues, moreso in his choice of sarah Palin as his running mate; and his intent to incite hate among radical GOP members. He had better centre his campaign on the issues, otherwise he will not only lose this election, but what is left of his already damaged integrity.

Obama on the other hand is clearly more focused on the issues and has proposed reasonably good and realistic economic policies. If he runs the country with the discipline and organised structure in which he has surprisngly run his campaign, making the right decisions; and reacting swiftly when required. His choice of Joe Biden could not have been better. It's not surprising these guys have a double digit lead in the polls, according to the last two gallup poll surveys. If they stick to the issues they are most likely to win by a landslide.

Tracy-Oakley   October 11th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Those are the facts...i have yet to hear McCain present a coherent plan on the economy. McCain having to correct people at his rallies and talk them down from what his campaign has been saying about Obama reflects McCains lack of leadership. McCain is not running his campaign – the campaign is running him and that's how a McCain presidency would be ran; many different unconnected narratives with no true leadership in the White House.

It's too bad that McCain can't get the rest of his campaign to show the decency he did yesterday. They know they can't win on the issues and the mind set is to "win at all costs".

The Republicans have proven over and over that the truth doesn't matter as long as they get the desired results. Why should this campaign be any different?

Zonker   October 11th, 2008 11:20 am ET

In 2000 I supported John McCain because of who he is and what he represented. In 2008 I felt that man had gone, replaced by a "do anything to win" politician who had lost the honor he so often displayed previously. It was nice to see him defending Obama against the misinformation his own supporter was stating at a rally: that Obama is not an Arab and that he is a Chrisitian. It looks like the man who lost his way when he got into bed with the Republican Machine is trying to become the man he once was: to reclaim the honor and integrity that he lost. There may still be some honor left in this man, although I fear it is gone from the Republican Party for good.

We really need the ideas of both parties and Independants to be heard and considered. Our country was built on democracy and what's more democratic than a good argument in our congress.

JohnGalt   October 11th, 2008 11:19 am ET

McCain's smear campaign is the sign of a struggling candidate who's value is being sold off at a lose, just like Wall Street. McCain's life experience should have told him to choose the path of tranquility, and that his political rallies should be introspective, opposed to his choice that uses ignorance, and anger, by dividing people within his own party.

patrick   October 11th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Even if Obama did launch his poitical career in Ayers living room, what does that have to do with his ability to get this nations economy back on track?....Exactly nothing!!

Bottom line is...Ayers has to answers for his actions and Obama has to answer for his own.

As far as im concerned Mccain has now got many more problems on his hand outside of being down in the polls and his own past with the Keating Five and NOW with Palins Troopergate scandal which is exactly what many folks have been saying before Mccain brought her in .

You go Obama! Show the American People you are no John Kerry and the American People desire you to be our next President of the USA. The United States of American is a United country not this divided country the McCain/Paliln ticket will be. They revoled hatred and smears while the USA is going though a Finanically crisis.

Donna   October 11th, 2008 11:18 am ET

I had admired McCain in the past and truly thought he was a different sort of politician. I'm not sure whether my belief was ever warranted. However, I believe he has lost all honor and integrity in his effort to become elected. While I can appreciate how much he wanted this position, that desire doesn't excuse his actions in picking Sarah Palin as a running mate, running deceptive ads and making false statements, and permitting the creation and encouragement of a mob mentality.

It is sad because the John McCain that I believed existed would have won this election. The John McCain that has emerged does not appear likely to win, at least based on the polls. And he will have lost not only the election but his good name. He should be ashamed of himself–and I am ashamed of him.

Gambi   October 11th, 2008 11:17 am ET

Accountable   October 11th, 2008 11:16 am ET

It is evident that McCain will go to any extreme to become president. McCain/Palin have divided this country with their hate crime attacks, lies, and deceit. Both McCain/Palin should be brought up on charges for these crimes.
Palin broke the law when she abused her power that violated ethics code in the trooper case.

My questions: Why aren’t these people held accountable for their ACTIONS???? Why are we quick to punish certain criminals but NOT ALL???

RACHEL   October 11th, 2008 11:16 am ET

The McCain campaign took a disgusting turn when they let Palin open her mouth about Ayers. Whatever happened to McCain's promise of running a clean campaign?

Valerie - Senior Southern Lady   October 11th, 2008 11:15 am ET

John McCain's once sterling reputation has been greatly diminished with the truly vicious campaign he and Palin have been waging. I was shocked and disappointed - I expected better from McCain. I was pleased when McCain defended Obama from two of his audience who made vicious comments about Obama. That is the McCain of the year 2000, the one admired and respected. As for Palin, she has no place on the national scene and should be removed from the campaign. My vote goes to Obama/Biden.

thomas   October 11th, 2008 11:15 am ET

American investors just lost $2,500,000,000,000 in the stock market and Republicans are upset that Obama knows an old hippie radical? Their priorities seem to be a bit skewed. Maybe they should give this a little more thought before election day.

Susan   October 11th, 2008 11:15 am ET

McCain not only lost his honor, but lost the election with these types of attacks. There was plenty of things that Obama could have said about McCain past relationships, but he chose to take the high road. Obama is the leader, and I will follow his lead. I turn my back on John McCain.

Just who is Obama. What is happening to our youth? This is a man who took his children to a church that the preacher dams the US. Has he met with Louis Farrakhan. Why does Farrakhan think a christian is a muslim messiah? Is this why Obama said we have been waiting for him? Does he think he is the messiah? We will just have to wait for these answers. This is how you do a negative ad, folks.

I'm not being sarcastic, the Obama campaign hit the nail on the head, and shut down the McCampaign with this one. Meanwhile, John is finding himself in the awkward position of telling rabid supporters to "calm down and be respectful". Unfortunately, it was his campaign that opened that can of worms.

This ad is powerful, and on message.

All of this anger and hate being generated scare me. Racial shouts, religious fear mongering, ethnic slurs; It is reminiscent of the atmosphere stirred up with crowds during WWII. Is this what the Republican party has come to?
We are at a moment of great economic woes and panic ensues. Instead of talking about solutions from the next would-be president and vice president, crowds get incited to rage. Good going, Sarah!

With both McCain and Palin having committed ethics violations, and abuses of power, McCain with keaton and Palin with troopergate, they have no credibility. Why then do the media continue to advertise the campaigns of such people? Is the media conspiring to defeat Obama? If no conspiracy, why is there no detailed reporting about McCain's involvement with Keaton? Or about his involvement with Vicke Iseman? Do such involvements by McCain raise legitimate issues of judgment, more so than do the innuendos of McCain/Palin about Obama? If sound judgment is the issue, then Trooper gate and Keaton Five clearly show McCain/Palin to inferior to Obama's, who has never been charge of accused of comitting any wrongs...

Voter   October 11th, 2008 10:59 am ET

Maybe McCain should look in the mirror. Keating 5, his running mate abusing her powers as Governor and she still has another civil suit pending against her in Alaska. Someone please tell me how McCain has any judgement? There is no way he could of vetted Palin and still put her on the ticket as VP. The only reason he wasn't convicted of any charges in the Keating 5 Savings and Loan scandal was because he was a POW, his father/grandfather had the McCain Navel Base named after them and he had the money to backing him of a wealthy father-in-law and wife. Yet his talks about Obama's judgement in having been on some committee with someone who is presently a professor at a college. Give me a break.

Obama is scared to death that McCain is letting the world know exactly what kind of person he is. He isn't even a citizen, if he was he'd submit that vault birth certificate for ALL TO SEE. Guess he doesn't have one, so he can't produce it. Took one month to slur and slam Palin about Alaska but......it has been a whole year and the MSM hasn't mentioned a word about obama's lack of a birth certificate....Guess the constitutional crisis is coming whether he wins or not he will have to prove he is a citizen.

Unfortunately, McCain has nothing to speak about.
The country is going down into a toilet and he's so, identified with this failing administration, that all he can do is smear and scare.
So predictable, for repugs. No fresh ideas, just OLD IDEAOLOGY, which we have seen fail throughout these past seven years.

He's old, tired, forgetful and hangs around a dimwit, who can only BARK and cause attendees in their rallies, to become scarey folks who would want to do harm to the other side.

McCain, should just go home, [but to which one?] and enjoy the time he has with his family. I think dementia is upon him.

John McCain and Sarah Palin have turned their campaign into a hate group. We have enough hatred in this country.Who is going to fix our country. Tell us your plans to fix this economy, that is what the american people need to know urgently.

Joe in Dallas   October 11th, 2008 10:55 am ET

What the Republicans don't seem to realize is that Americans are not stupid and they have memories. Bush has lied to the American public for 8 years and now that our country desperately needs a voice of a respected leader to pull us out of this upcoming depression, Bush finds that he not only has no credibility, he has NEGATIVE credibility. McCain faces the same situation. He's lied, mangled the truth, and engaged in low-road attacks so much that if he actually did run across something in Obama's life that would REALLY constitute an October Surprise, nobody would take it seriously. Same old same old.

And BTW, I guess Sarah Palin has finally proven that she has all the prerequisites to be a Republican VP. Even Cheney didn't start his abuse of power until AFTER he was elected.

kentucky   October 11th, 2008 10:55 am ET

The McCain-Palin Republican Party campaign has dragged American politics to a shameful low. I don't want any individual or party that resorts to hate tactics incorporated by organizations such as the KKK and WWII Nazi Party. It' called racism, Stupid!!   October 11th, 2008 10:39 am ET

McCain, his wife and Palin are disgusting. Sarah Palin UNLAWFULLY FIRED the state Trooper and ABUSED HER POWER AS GOVERNOR. Wow! What a surprise!
And all the time trying to point to Obama to take the heat off them!

Obama has been honest with his past, Palin has not!

Palin is obviously as corrupt at the rest of the BUSH/CHENEY/MCCAIN REPUBLICAN LYING MACHINE

They have no positive things to say about their own campaign so all they can do is attack Obama on made up lies. Now Cindy McCain is crying that Obama is attacking THEM??? I think she is back on her meds!
It's no wonder that the polls are shifting in Obama's favor!

Americans are finally getting smart about not believing everything they hear. After the BUSH administration and 8 years of lying, people are able to sift through the lies and innuendos and make intelligent.

McCain will have a tough time going back to the senate after he loses the election and the Republicans lose 60 seats in the senate. He may have to retire to one of his 8 luxury homes. Poor John!!

abraxis   October 11th, 2008 10:37 am ET

Be careful, Dems. Negative attacks do work for and to the uninformed. Ignore them at your own peril!

Overseas Obama supporter   October 11th, 2008 10:37 am ET

Please Obama, stay on the high road. You've already seen McC changing his tune. Now be the bigger man and stay focussed! You don't need any negative ads. Just be Barack Obama; listener, speaker, hard worker, ethicsl, smart, caring, empathic, husband, father, leader.

Independent   October 11th, 2008 10:37 am ET

It's pathetic to see McCain running such an dishonorable campaign.

McCain turns into the leader of a lynch mob. Hate speeches, brown shirts and a mob that is completely "hannity" in their blind uneducated rage.

McCain prostituted himself to the Rovians and Bush handlers. A hero, a maverick he is not.

Sam White   October 11th, 2008 10:37 am ET

It is ABOUT TIME that Barack Obama addressed this.

If you say the same LIE over and over again, and no one challenges it, many people (many stupid people) will believe it as TRUE.

Hitler used the "big lie" technique. I am disappointed that McCain is doing likewise.

Chris   October 11th, 2008 10:37 am ET

John McCain is done, he has nothing left to talk about that I am interested in hearing. Let's hope he keeps his supporters civil before and after he loses.

sabuc for Obama   October 11th, 2008 10:37 am ET

BUT McCain now has 3 minutes of defending and praising Obama in his resume. Doesn't that negate everything he has done to this point?!? [sarcasm]

McCain is down to one wheel on the straight talk express!!

NoMccain   October 11th, 2008 10:36 am ET

Since Mccain is openly embracing nefarious tactics like this, by default, Mccain should be charged with all of the smear tactics that have been used since the beginning of this race two years ago.
Don't we do this with criminals who get caught for commiting crimes of similar ones conducted in the past, and tie all of them to the criminals to add to their sentence? Then I do not see why Mccain is free from the allegation I raise, especially when he is openly embracing the divisive hatred he knows millions of Americans still have, in order to win.

Gordo   October 11th, 2008 10:36 am ET

McCain is an old man who dosn't know what day it is and Palin, well with todays news her credibility which was already crap is now gonski

Rob   October 11th, 2008 10:36 am ET

so true smears and lies . And don't forget he has the trooper gate liar on his ticket. If she can't be trusted to tell the truth about that ,how could you vote for a liar to put in the White house.Liar , hum sounds like Bush again

Lifelong Republican for Obama, Columbia, TN   October 11th, 2008 10:36 am ET

I am glad that Obama said this, because he is exactly RIGHT! All the McCain team has left are lies, hate, rage, and anger, and I am sick of it. They can't win on the issues, so they will employ nasty Rove-tactics to win-the same tactics used on McCain in 2000. It is just plain shameful. I have lost all respect for John McCain and if he wins the White House, he will NOT be my President. The second he and that idiot Palin takes the oath of office, every American-young and old, rich and poor, Black and White, liberal and conservative-will be witness to the beginning of the end of America.

But, my mind and soul will be at ease when I vote for Obama and Biden. At least I can say that I voted for the other team. My affliation with the Republican Party has ended.

King   October 11th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Go get em 'that one'

Is this what you want for 4 MORE YEARS?

REALLY!!

We need to get rid of the Corrupt Republican Leaders in Washington.

WE NEED CHANGE, NOW!!!

ONE MORE REASON WHY I AM VOTING OBAMA/BIDEN ‘08

Glenn in California   October 11th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Obama is wrong in one regard. McLame has more than smears left. In the next 3 weeks, I'm sure we'll see plenty of "Hail Mary" plays in his desperate attempt to win the election at any cost.

McLame at least showed a thread of decency yesterday in defending Obama when that idiot woman at his rally called Obama an Arab and a Muslim. It just goes to show how pathetically stupid many of our citizen are. Disgraceful.

Paul, NY   October 11th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Sad but true.. Where's the McCain America used to know?

Accountant Guy   October 11th, 2008 10:33 am ET

You are right President Obama, it is all him and his power abusing VP have left!! It is time to take back our country for true Americans, not for people who want power so they can make people do what they want them to do!!
