I am glad that Sen Obama has called Sen McCain and Gov Palin out. You don't have to be negative to get your point across. With all of the worries that Americans are facing today, I feel that it is disrespectful for McCain and Palin to try to distract people from the issues. I am so proud of Obama and the way his campaign has gone. Being a strong christian, I may not agree with everything other Democrats say but I definitely want a President that tells the truth and doesn't base his campaign on bad mouthing his opponent - specially when those comments are out right lies or misleading as have been the majority of the things the Republican campaign has said about Obama. The McCain/Palin campaign has proved to be dishonest now which leaves the door wide open for them to be dishonest if they were elected - heaven forbid!

This campaign has gone beyond decent ethics and I know McCain
knows and approves all of these tactics.. just look at his eyes when asked questions regarding them.. it will haunt him and all his supporters who approve of this type of rhetoric and sleazy tactics.
It is showing in the polls and most folks I know are "fed up" with this type of mud slinging.. both sides! It seems the issues are being ignored and America is in deep trouble and all had better wake up to that fact.. politics aside!

During a McCain town hall meeting, he rightlyfully took the microphone away from a woman who referred to Obama as a Arab. McCain's response to the woman was that Obama was a decent, family man.

What John McCain failed to do was demonstrate statesmanship/leadership by not speaking to the fact that there are many Americans of Arab descent who are patriots, love and fight for this country, and that being Arab doesn't make one a bad person or a terrorist. What's interesting is that no media outlet has reported on this angle of the story.

I used to think Sen. McCain would make a good president, but no more. He has shown himself to be negative, angry, impulsive, and lacking in judgment. I'm particularly concerned about his lack of judgment in choosing Sarah Palin, an empty-headed, mean-spirited, and dishonest person. It's very scary to think that she could end up as president. McCain's pick of Sarah Palin is just another example of his horrible judgment. Sarah Palin along with her husband are very vindictive characters. The only thing Sarah is good at is smearing others. She claims she is an "expert" on energy but has consistently gotten her facts wrong about her own state's oil and gas policies and figures. She has no experience in alternative energy, just oil and gas and even that experience is questionable. She abused her power as governor and has cited "executive privilege" in a call for her refusal to release official state emails that her own husband was included on. McCain and Palin clearly have no solutions, they only have smears to run on.

It was clear from the start, when Sarah Palin presented her GOP convention speech, that the McCain ticket was intent on taking the low road; her speech was made up of sniping and negativity, delivered with cutesy smiles.

That tactic is now being taken to extremes by Palin, in particular, and by Sen. McCain as well. The accusations they toss about so freely in relation to Sen Obama are gross exaggerations and inaccuracies, not actual fact.

Why is it that nothing is being made of the REAL FACT that, until recently, Todd Palin belonged to an organization that preaches anti-Government sentiments and wants to SECEDE from the rest of the country? And the illustrious governor spoke at one of their rallies! She needs to remove that American flag pin from her lapel, as she obviously does not believe in what it stands for. She and McCain only want to win the election to satisfy their own blind ambition and, as seen in the past few weeks, they will resort to the lowest tactics to acheive their goal.

This has been a recurring theme throughout history, actually. The losing side in any conflict becomes desperate, pulling out "all the stops" in order to increase their odds of winning. In the case of McCain-Palin, the campaing is resorting to the standard Republican tactics of fear and division.

This is how it works: the party scares people by suggesting that we as a nation are falling apart, that we are divided, and then gives us reasons to be divided. Then it turns around and says that it (the GOP) will bring unity and prosperity to the nation. This, despite the fact that all of our division and economic crises have been caused by who? That's right, the Republicans.

This is not to say that all Republicans are fear-mongers. Only the leaders are. The followers are usually just uninformed or misinformed. Generally this can be attributed to faith-based thinking. The same people that can believe in religion without verifiable evidence of ANY of the claims religion makes, are the same people that believe anything the Republican party tells them. They have the horrible, crippling disease of faith. What logical or rational creature can take everything they hear without a shred of evidence to support it?

This policy of McCain's is nothing new, so I'm almost wondering why I'm reading this here...

Does Senator McCain want to be remembered for the kind of hate mongering supporters that now make up his base? His own people booed him when he said that Obama was a decent person and a family man. Those aren't the kinds of supporters the McCain of 2000 would have thrown in with.

For many of us the financial security we have worked so hard for has evaporated in the last few months. McCain does not have to instill fear in us–the economy has already done that.
