Palin booed at NHL game in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) – Although many Philadelphia Flyers fans cheered and clapped as Sarah Palin took to the ice at the Wachovia Center on Saturday night to drop the ceremonial puck kicking off this town's NHL season, their warm reception was no match for the 90 seconds of sustained booing that rumbled through the arena, drowning out most of the cheers in support of the Republican vice presidential nominee.

As Palin stepped onto the ice before a capacity crowd to drop the puck, joined by her daughters Willow and Piper, the arena's jumbotron flashed a futile message to the thousands of notoriously harsh Philadelphia sports fans in attendance.

"Flyers fans, show Philadelphia's class and welcome America's #1 hockey mom, Sarah Palin," the massive electronic message board pleaded, to little effect. Booing quickly erupted when the smiling candidate emerged from a tunnel leading onto the ice, muffling the applause of any Palin supporters in the crowd.

Some in the audience simply gave her a thumbs down gesture. Others called her names.

Palin spent about a minute and a half on center ice, posing for pictures with Flyers captain Mike Richards and New York Rangers assistant captain Scotty Gomez, an Alaska native. The crowd commotion was sustained for her entire time in the rink.

Palin's showing did not appear to help the Flyers, who looked hapless in the first period, giving up four goals to their rivals from New York. The governor stayed to watch the first two periods with family and staff in the box of Flyers owner Ed Snider, and by the time she departed the Wachovia Center for her hotel, the Flyers had narrowed the lead to 4-2.

Ha ha, excellent work Philly. Wish I'd been there. This is what happens when they let her out out into a crowd of people that haven't been hand picked by Steve "bullethead" Schmidt and Grover Norquist.
I can't wait to see these loathsome people lose.

being such a good christian I am sure she has heard that you reap what you sew, so she deserves everything she gets. McCain/Palin campaign have tried everything to spread negative, hateful comments & ads about Obama. They would like to see him destroyed which is obvious everytime they speak. They have nothing left except attack, attack, attack. It will not work this time. No McCain, No Palin, No Way, No How.

PALIN failed to realize that in the world of hockey, there aren't too many minorities (i.e., african americans, hispanic, asians, latinos, native americans) so she only connects with less than one quarter of the majority anglo-saxons that seem to agree with her. Those that agree with her are either ignorant, misled and don't want to know the truth; which will set them free to enjoy a world that's liberal enough to embrace anyone that wants to make a positive change; not just any change for the sake of change. I believe the people of Pennsylvania knows a wolf in sheep clothing with lipstick on.

Thank you to the well educated hockey fans of Pennsylvania.

There we go again McCain is inciting the crowd by repeating over and over "I am angry, you are angry". He and Sarah Palin are seriously trying to creat a situation to cause arm to Obama.

As for Palin, she deserved to be booed by the Hocky crow, who does she think she is. She is illiterate to begin with. Ms Beauty with nothing more to offer.

May be she should continue to work on the separation of Alaska making it a country as she and her supremacist husband planned.

I wonder how she felt when for probably the first time she was not in front of the manufactured crowds she's been speaking to over the past two months?

Welcome to the real world Ms. Palin.

It's very simple.Sarah Palin got what she was looking for from the Philly crowd-–Boos and more boos.My question?what was she doing in there? No judgement shown just like when John McCain turned up on the VIEW and got a rude awaking. Sarah Palin -you are no hockey mom ,you are a sex mom and i hope this teaches you to stay away from hockey rinks. PA will vote for the DEMOCRATS so don't waste your time and money.

Thanks you PA for standing up and letting people know that we are all Americans and that this is My America, Your America ... Our America!!!

And we will judge people on the content of their character not the color of their skin.

    Thank you

And so the downward spiral continues. Within the next two weeks, Palin will step aside for "family concerns" and a new VP will come aboard with very little time to undergo any scrutiny by the press.

It will be a candidate with enough excitement to give the GOP a bump, but will it be enough?

Palin's photo op visit to the Flyer game should be a memorable experience for many years to come. Here she received first rate response, in the spirit of the Roman Coliseum, by red blooded Americans unlike the extreme right wing raciest demigods she excites at partisan rallies. Well done Philadelphia Flyer fans!

Astonishing! She really IS a Maverick! It took Bush 8 years to get America to hate him badly enough to boo him at a sporting event.

Keep it up Palin! You're the BEST thing to happen to Democrats. Ever.

There we go again McCain is inciting the crowd by repeating over and over "I am angry, you are angry". He and Sarah Palin are seriously trying to create a situation to cause arm to Obama. How sad! How desperate McCain and Palin are.

As for Palin, she deserved to be booed by the Hockey crowd, who does she think she is. She is illiterate to begin with. Ms Beauty with nothing more to offer. Why does she have to trail this poor little baby to her rallies? Why aren't the other kids in school? That woman IS NOT, I reap IS NOT a good mother. A good mother would not use her kids that way, like a circus. Also if Obama had a 17 yr old pregnant daughter, not married they would be saying see"Black people are such and such".

May be she should continue to work on the separation of Alaska making it a country as she and her supremacist husband planned.

VOTE FOR OBAMA. MY GOD WE NEED A CHANGE . THIS GREAT COUNTRY DESERVES A CHANGE.
    VOTE OBAMA
