PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Sarah Palin on Saturday denied abusing her power or violating state law in the dismissal of Alaska’s Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, putting her at odds with the findings of a state ethics report that determined she did abuse her power as governor.
As the Republican vice presidential nominee departed her Pittsburgh hotel on Saturday morning, a reporter asked Palin if she abused her power in firing Monegan, which was the conclusion of the state investigator's report released late Friday.
“No, and if you read the read the report you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member," Palin responded before boarding her campaign bus. "You got to read the report, sir."
Palin had the authority to fire Monegan, but the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower concluded that she abused her power as Alaska's governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, fired from the state police.
"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

A power hungry moron is worse than a moron. Your days are numbered folksy fruitcake! I hope I NEVER see your face or hear your screechy voice again after that too.
It seems that Sara Palin should read the report herself :
The report says that although Gov. Sarah Palin did have the authority to fire a cabinet\ member but she abused power ... and violated state ethic law ..
"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report also said.
Now that is not puting country or state first, when you use your position
and office to push personal agenda.
Sarah Palin should go and hide herself somewhere and spot lecturing Sen. Obama that he put his ambitions first and other stuff.
Ok, I read it. Guess what? You're guilty gov. It's right there on page 49 of the report, item 2A. You violated the trust of the Alaskan people by engaging in activities which were meant to benefit yourself. I personally think you were justified in seeking the dismissal of the trooper as he doesn't appear to be the best trooper around. The drunk driving charge alone should have gotten him thrown off the force. However, you went about it in an unlawful way, according to the laws you were sworn in to uphold as governor. There's no spin here. No partisanship as the panel was primarily republican. It is what it is. Own up to it and move on. You might just gain a little more respect if you do own up to it. People supporting you seem to be moved by emotions and yours was an emotional move.
this woman is perverted, too say the least. please stop covering her. she is boring and old, like yesterday's box scores.
Of course Palin denied it. What else can she do. What really angers me is her and the McCain's campaign insistence that Obama supporters are behind this! The investigation started MONTHS before she was a VP candidate and the board that voted yesterday to release this report consisted of EIGHT Republicans and FOUR Democrats.
It is time Palin stopped lying and showed a bit of humility or she will
be done in Alaska when she returns home on November 5th. She comes across as an awful person because of her continued lies and excuses. Her comments about Obama have zero credibility.
»GO MCCAIN!GO PALIN!!
Simply crazy.....
You can try to spin this anyway you want Sarah, but the fact is you violated PUBLIC TRUST. Got trust? Not with Sarah.
this woman is perverted, too say the least. please stop covering her. she is boring and old, like yesterday's box scores.
Sarah Palin makes George Bush look like a freakin' genius. Shame on Mccain for choosing this wack job as a running mate. I used to like and respect the man, now, he's no better than sewage sludge.
sarah sarah
»John "Decent man" McCain/Sarah "So Lovely" Palin=The Presidential DREAM Ticket/Team. YES.
Are you serious? Now she is just lying.
For someone running as an outside, she sure sounds like an insider to me,
»McCain is the man.
Of course she's not going to admit she abused her power as Governor of Alaska. She has "blind ambition!"
I suppose now she can add the state ethics report to her "um, everything" reading list?
*sigh* Of course she's denying it...what do you expect her to do? Admit she did something wrong? That she's imperfect? Although, if she or McCain would admit to anything of the sorts, THAT would give me a tad bit of respect for them.
Enough is Enough...send these idiots back to Alaska and Arizona.
Here we go again. Another GOP Vice President (in this case wanna be) who believes they are above the law. She really is just like Dick Cheney (just without the experience).
Palin is very raw. She is a bluffer. When she could not answer a question from an interview, she changed the subject using her memorized talking points.
I could not stand her high pitched voice.
I can't wait until she is in the past.
This lady has lost her mind. She's making things worse.
typical politician
oh my gosh, she actually answered a question!
I am really scared, should this woman come close to this much power we will regret it. She will be worse than Big Dick Cheney. God help us. Please help us take this scary back to Alaska.
