Palin denies abusing power in trooper case

Palin made her first comments Saturday since the ethics report was released.
Palin made her first comments Saturday since the ethics report was released.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Sarah Palin on Saturday denied abusing her power or violating state law in the dismissal of Alaska’s Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, putting her at odds with the findings of a state ethics report that determined she did abuse her power as governor.

As the Republican vice presidential nominee departed her Pittsburgh hotel on Saturday morning, a reporter asked Palin if she abused her power in firing Monegan, which was the conclusion of the state investigator's report released late Friday.

“No, and if you read the read the report you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member," Palin responded before boarding her campaign bus. "You got to read the report, sir."

Palin had the authority to fire Monegan, but the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower concluded that she abused her power as Alaska's governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, fired from the state police.

"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

Hey CNN, where's the story about Obama's monetary ties to ACORN and the voters fraud that ACORN is committing in the name of Democrats or is that not an issue for you?

How convenient that this comes out on a Saturday! It won't be swept under the rug and the McCain camp can't pull the wool over our eyes any longer. The truth is out – she broke the law. Great VP pick! Awesome job vetting her! The VP selection crew must be pretty proud of themselves. The Mormon, the Baptist preacher and even the Jew must be looking pretty good right about now... but aren't ya glad you picked the gosh-darn hockey-mom pitbull-in-lipstick liar!

Bottom Line: McBarbie used ALL her considerable POWER as gov. to destroy someone else's life for personal reasons! She is mean and spiteful, a woman of small mind. And this is McShame's choice for Vice President of the United States of America. McCain chooses a woman of this moral character to hold the second highest offfice in the land?

I don't think so.... thank you very much!

Barack Hussein Obama has run an HONORABLE campaign attacking the issues, but NOT McCain. His choice for VP, Joe Biden, is perfectly capable of running the country, if God forbid, something did happen to Obama.

Thank you very much, the man has my vote!

Are we surprised she denies the claims against her? McCain it's late in the game, but we won't fault you if you send her home.

I read the report ma'am and I can conclude that you did abuse your power. Although you can argue that you did follow the due process in firing him, YOUR REASONS ARE ALL WRONG!

And I find your answer to the reporter quite annoying. You think that reporter did not read the report before asking you that question? He's not like you ma'am. And at least give us some explanations...not just simply say "no." We're not that stupid!

Everyday I'm getting really annoyed by reports about you....

Give us a break Palin. You abused your power plain and simple. Stop with the deceit and lies. I think people would respect you a little more if you would just come out and tell the truth.

Let's see how the republicans try and spin this one. We have the facts and that's what people want. Not your version of the "truth". I think the "straight talk express" is down for maintenance....

For someone that has just been endorsed by the NRA, you sure have your hand on the smoking gun.

You abused your power which says a lot about you being more of the same and questions again McSame's judgement when he picked you.

She is abviously a liar, since she has been lying about Obama since she was chosen by McCain as VP, so why should we believe her now? It was a bipartisan committee that put together the report. Who do you believe, a bipartisan committee or a confirmed liar?

The McCain campaign is trying to spin this as a partisan attack, which is pathetic considering the Alaska panel consisted of 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats.

    McCain – Keating 5

    Palin – Troopergate

Prime examples of corruption and abuses of power. This presidency would certainly be another 4 years of Bush/Cheney style leadership.

Not only is Palin dishonest with almost everything she says on the campaign trail, but obviously as MissWasilla and as the governor of Alaska, she failed to learn how to read, as the "Troopergate" report reeks of her and co-governor Todd's unethical behavior. What a boob!! And this is who John McCain tells us is best to lead the country should he meet with an untimely demise! God help us!

    Go Barack, Go!!!!

What about the librarian Palin fired because the noble lady refused to ban books? That alone makes Palin unelectable in my mind. She's a close-minded idiot.
To the general public, librarians may come off as quiet and introverted, but make no mistake, they know how to get things done, and there's a whole legion of them, all over the country, who are sorely pissed at Palin.
