Palin denies abusing power in trooper case

Palin made her first comments Saturday since the ethics report was released.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Sarah Palin on Saturday denied abusing her power or violating state law in the dismissal of Alaska’s Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, putting her at odds with the findings of a state ethics report that determined she did abuse her power as governor.

As the Republican vice presidential nominee departed her Pittsburgh hotel on Saturday morning, a reporter asked Palin if she abused her power in firing Monegan, which was the conclusion of the state investigator's report released late Friday.

“No, and if you read the read the report you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member," Palin responded before boarding her campaign bus. "You got to read the report, sir."

Palin had the authority to fire Monegan, but the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower concluded that she abused her power as Alaska's governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, fired from the state police.

"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

Instead of saying "if you read the report..." She should say the report is false because if actually do read the report she did abuse her power. She sounds like Cheney and we don't need that. But poor John McCain, you have to feel sorry for him, his crowds are full of ignorant people, and his vice president is one of them.

Of course she denies it! If you're unethical and perform unethical acts, then you're hardly going to turn honest when asked about the unethical behaviour LOL.

Palin did base her decision to fire Wooten because he wouldn't fire her former brother-in-law. We don't need another VP who has blurred vision of what's right as a person with some power; Dick Cheney has showed us this picture and its pretty ugly.

Governor Palin now sports a new hairdo so she can wear an earpiece to be prompted by campaign cronies when she falters during public speaking and interviews. It's true.

Mothers will tell you "Don't say anything bad about someone for it will come back to haunt you." Well, Sarah! Obama putting his ambition first? Country first? Reformer?
It seems that you are a ambitious and ruthless governer who will do anything to get into the national spotlight. Now the spotlight has shown and it shows who you really are.
Go back to Alaska and I am sure the people there will take care of your Ceasarian aspirations.

Abuse of Power is very serious. If someone is allowed to use their position of power to further their own personal agenda then government is no longer "for the people." If you've ever been on the receiving end of abuse of power you know that as an average citizen you have no power and therefore no protection. Palin is Cheney 2.

Here we go, at the very least Palin could and should accept responsibility for her actions – but she won't. I know the people of Alaska are going to expect her to accept responsibility when she returns, and I can only hope that the people of America do the same. Sarah is most certainly transparent. She is not opposed to lies and manipulation as long as she and her family are the ones doing it.

I am pretty sure the McCain camp is going to put out a report about the world being flat next week. They will deny, spin and turn anything around. I have never seen such a dirty campaign. This garbage makes Karl Rove look like an angel.

Sarah Palin is GUILTY of "violating state ethics laws" and "abuse of power" as Governor. However, not guilty for firing Monegan - something she could do at her "pleasure", even without cause - just because she wanted to. Silly, silly "queen" Sarah - Is she really the person we want to lead this country? I think not!

    Obama for America!

  19. Let's win this!

McLiar and Paliar are persecuting Sen. Obama for his shady alliances but both these people are the worst. They are the shady character... McLiar as the main actor in Keating 5, and Paliar the main actor in Troopergate. No need to fact check. Both of them have been proven in the investigations.

Sarah Palin, Thank you, thank you for totally trashing your reputation. Do you really think anyone believes you now when you say , But I did nothing wrong or unlawful...." Trust, honor, integrity? Ha, get a dictionary. These characteristics do not describe you. Your rallies only bring out the worst in America. We don't need the kind of hate and venom you are spewing. Please now, shut up and go home to Alaska, if they'll have you. Go sympathize with the AIP party. Maybe they'll still welcome you back.
