Palin denies abusing power in trooper case

Palin made her first comments Saturday since the ethics report was released.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Sarah Palin on Saturday denied abusing her power or violating state law in the dismissal of Alaska’s Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, putting her at odds with the findings of a state ethics report that determined she did abuse her power as governor.

As the Republican vice presidential nominee departed her Pittsburgh hotel on Saturday morning, a reporter asked Palin if she abused her power in firing Monegan, which was the conclusion of the state investigator's report released late Friday.

“No, and if you read the read the report you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member," Palin responded before boarding her campaign bus. "You got to read the report, sir."

Palin had the authority to fire Monegan, but the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower concluded that she abused her power as Alaska's governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law, Mike Wooten, fired from the state police.

"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

The problem with Palins response, is that she said nothing of the fact that she allowed her husband Todd to use state resources in the findings. So, if she wants to attack Obama for telling the truth, she needs to practice what she preaches. Before the story broke, I find it funny that McCain backed down from his attacks on Obama. I think they the Republican ticket had an idea that the this wouldn't turn out as they thought it would.

And Obama has been denying for days that he and Ayers are "close" friends...but she just kept pushing the issue. People who dig dirt should be careful. Abuse of power!! Sounds a lot like Cheney. ;-)

    Unanswered Questions:

How did Todd Palin know that Mike Wooden filed for light duty with the police department? Why did he care the Wooden was on light duty?

How did Todd know that Wooden dropped his son off at school in a police car? Why did he care that Wooden dropped his son off at school in a police car one morining?

Why do the Palins care so much about Woodens personal finances?

Who was the governor of Alaska? Todd or Sarah?

It is obivious that the McCain Palin campaign were aware of the outcome of this report prior to It being release to the general public, now the republicans wil dispatch their spin doctors. they will claim that she never violated any ethics code or abused her power, most of all reflect the chargers to the Obama campaign....the media must report the truth that it was a majority of Republicans that felt she had violated her oath .

Palin is cut from the same ethical cloth as Bush and Cheney. Do you really want her to have authority over the NSA?

Must be nice to declare oneself Queen/Dictator of Alaska where the judgement of the legislature can be overridden by opinion alone.

Case in point why this crooked woman should be nowhere near the Oval office.

At this point why would we believe anything Palin says? The investigators were Republicans. Members of her own party have asked her to step aside. This is not a Democratic attack. Her own party wants her out!

    She is corrupt.

The report reads like a family feud. How can I trust her when she obviously pursues personal vendettas over governing her state?

I want less drama so I'm voting for Obama.

If Sarah didn't do anything wrong, why was her Party trying to prevent the investigation and why did the people concerned first refused to answer to the investigators? She is guilty as charged!!!
