Palin draws a line between 'good guys' and 'bad guys'

Palin visited the crucial battleground state of Ohio Sunday.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (CNN) - At a campaign rally designed to reflect the pastoral beauty of the heartland in autumn - with a stage set up in a red barn overlooking a sweeping field and piles of pumpkins - Sarah Palin warned the audience about the threat of terrorism, and explained that the Republican ticket should be elected because “we know who the bad guys are.”

“Help me, Ohio, to help put John McCain in the White House,” she said. “He understands. He understands you. We understand how important it is that this team be elected. For one thing, we know who the bad guys are, OK?”

That statement elicited scattered shouts of “Obama!” throughout the crowd.

“We know that in the war, it’s terrorists, terrorists who hate America and her allies and would seek to destroy us, and the bad guys are those who would support and sympathize with the terrorists,” she said. “They do not like America because of what we stand for. Liberty. Freedom. Equal rights. Those who sympathize and support those terrorists who would seek to destroy all that it is that we value, those are the bad guys, OK?”

Was Palin suggesting that Barack Obama and Joe Biden don’t understand the terrorist threat? Who exactly were the “bad guys” Palin was referring to? A spokesperson for the campaign would only say that the governor was describing “nations that sympathize with terrorists, period.”

The vice presidential nominee pressed on and pointed the finger at more bad guys - the “greedy and corrupt and arrogant” mavens of Wall Street and Washington who, she said, have pushed the nation’s economy to the brink.

“We know who the good guys are, and it is you, and we will fight for you, and we will put government on your side,” she promised. “We will end the arrogant and the selfish practices of Washington and of Wall Street because your United States government is to be of the people, by the people, for the people.”

In her remarks, Palin also appeared to acknowledge the snow-balling narrative that Republican rallies have grown increasingly hostile and angry in the waning weeks of the campaign, echoing weekend remarks by McCain himself.

“All across America, I know that there’s a lot of anger right now,” she said. “There’s anger about the insider dealing of lobbyists and anger at the greed of Wall Street, and anger about the arrogance of the Washington elite. And with serious reforms to change Washington, John McCain is going to turn your anger into action.”

I'm Sarah Palin, and I just violated an ethics law in Alaska. Y'know, the final rulings have yet to do me in. But I just wanted to say thanks for clearing me in Tasergate, just so I confuse people into thinking I was cleared because they won't be curious enough to look for Troopergate. I love incurious people. Don't you?

Palin, you have angered many Americans with your abuse of power. You have some nerve to call anyone "bad"! You are the world's worst! You have lost your credibility and that is the lowest! That why you were booed at the NHL!

We all know who the bad guys are, okay, Sarah, and some of the baddest are in Washington, D.C. and on Wall Street. Right now our economy scares me more than Al queda. Could you and John tell us your plans for addressing this particular problem?

McCain, your little Sarah is loose again. She is a fountain of lies and hate.

She is a disgrace to educated women around this country and I, for one, am ready for her to go home!!!

I wish this woman would just shut and quit with the scare tactics. I am sick of the politics of fear the Republicans have run with the last eight years. Looks like al this fear has been used as a cover while millions of jobs have been shipped over seas. I think have a job, savings and future for this nation should be the most important. This woman cares nothing about the working person. She is not "joe six pack" and has never had to work hard a day in her life. I wish this pampered princess would pack up and head back to Alsaka and deal with her ethically challege govenorship.

Is Terrorism going to be their final straw on the race for the White House? That makes me very scared, these folks are not far from orchestrating a fake attack to prove their point, and take the presidency.

    They're desperate.

Does CNN hold Republicans and the Democrats to different standards??? If Biden was found guilty for ethical corruption, all media would be all over the Obama campaign asking for Biden's resignation and talking about the campaign's demise. This woman and her husband ran Alaska like their family business. She and her husband are proven to be "greedy and corrupt" and you're reporting this? Why aren't you asking WHO IS TODD PALIN. He might end up to be our next co-vice president you know. Please do your job, let us know who Todd Palin is so that we can make an informed decision.

Yep, the bad guys are McCain/Palin. You want more of the same, vote for McBush and Palin. She abused her power in Alaska, and she will do the same if in the White House. Neither, unfortunately, can be trusted. Yep, they know who the good guys are, Obama/Biden.

The bad guys are those who would destroy our freedoms in the name of our country-the misguided and ambitious fools who think that it's ever right to ignore the Constitution in the name of safety, the cowards who try to label their political opponents as terrorists, the fools foolish enough to think the people are stupid enough to fall for it.

  17. Obama is for UNITING of the PEOPLE

The QUESTION is DO Palin KNOW what GOOD GUY'S look like??????????????..........GOOD GUY’S NEVER WOULD BE FOUND guilty of ABUSE OF POWER and Compliance with the CODE OF ETHICS……A legislative investigation has concluded that Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power in pushing for the firing of an Alaska state trooper who was once married to her sister, or by failing to prevent her husband Todd from doing so. The report says Palin failed to reign in her husband's inappropriate efforts to use the governor's office to contact trooper employees in his attempts to have Wooten fired.

Is Palin insinuating that Obama/Biden are the "bad guys?" If so, then it the most sinister campaign rhetoric I can imagine. I have a difficult time beleiving that a candidate for VP would express such a divisive, dualistic and narrow-minded view of this election. Yes, there will be winner and a loser, but the "best" ticket should win. If Palin really believes what she seems to be saying, then SHE may be one of the "bad guys."

I find it odd that McCain seemed to be calling for a more civil and respectful campaign the past two days and Palin seems to be continuing to incite the crowd in a way that I find quite disturbing. Either Palin is acting according to campaign strategy and McCain's comments about wanting to run a respectful campaign are lies or Palin is acting on her own. If that is the case, then I have to question McCain's leadership ability if he is unable to rein in the hate-mongering of his own VP pick.

This woman, albeit the female poster child of the republican party has spouted more devisive bile than any VP candidate before her. How Sen. McCain can say he utilized good judgement in his selection of this corrupt politician able to show her face on a national stage. Sen. McCain in his choice of this person as his VP running mate has demonstrated his complete lack of judgement and common sense.

Funny how she takes a week stirring up the anger, then acknowledges the anger, and then asks the angry to elect her and mccain because they understand the anger that they created. Just like a rogue firefighter setting fire to a house then being the "hero" that put it out. She's sick!
