Palin: Hockey mom experience on 'executive side' of the sport

Self-described 'hockey mom' Sarah Palin dropped the puck and Saturday night’s Rangers-Flyers game.
Self-described 'hockey mom' Sarah Palin dropped the puck and Saturday night’s Rangers-Flyers game.

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) – Sarah Palin seems to have slipped effortlessly into the role of John McCain’s attack dog - but those aggressive tendencies may have been cultivated many years ago as an “exuberant” hockey mom in Wasilla, where she used to bang her fists on the penalty box glass and demand that her son get tougher with his opponents on the ice.

At least that’s how she described her time as a hockey mom to Comcast SportsNet’s Steve Coates, who interviewed Palin after she dropped the puck at the Philadelphia Flyers’ season opener on Saturday night. The governor recounted how she used to embarrass her son Track by yelling at him from the side of the rink, telling him to play nice. But if he was going to play rough, Palin said, she gave him license to go all out.

“I was telling him be nice, and if you’re going to get a penalty, man, make it worth it!,” she told Coates. “Don’t just be picking on somebody. Grind ‘em into the boards! Do something that’s going to be effective. Don’t just be picking on someone.”

Palin said she soon put her energies into the “executive side” of the youth hockey team instead of shouting at her embarrassed son from behind the glass.

“I put my passion towards hockey to better use by becoming the hockey manager,” she said. “The team mom. You know, working on the stats, working on the management, the executive side of the sport, and hopefully that was put to better use. I was pretty exuberant.”

Great job on not reporting the facts CNN. She was roundly, wildly and loudly BOOED as she took center ice. She even tried to dress her little kid in a Flyers jersey but Flyer fans (most of whom are rich season ticket holders) are too smart to fall for this nonsense.

THE MOOSE HUNTER GOT SHOOKEN UP . . .

All of Sarah Palin's previous audiences were pre-scripted, self-righteous, arrogant, hypocritical, evangelical, religious-right Bush puppets. They are the kind too afraid to stray from the GOP mind-lock.

I wonder what she thought as she peered into a 'truly diversified American' crowd of 20,000+ and saw Irish & Italian Catholics, White and Black Protestants, Jews, Indians, Asians, Muslim, and Latinos of all religious faith booing her from the ice. Now that’s my people!!

Palin went into the lion's den at this hockey game. If Obama came to a Tennessee volunteer football game , believe me, he would be booed.

    Can't make any sense, Sarah.

That's problem when you learn leadership and excecutive skills from kids hockey, instead of going to school.

Ahh, Palin. Trying to subtly imply "executive experience" coming from your years as the hockey team manager?

    What a joke.

The new smokescreen for Palin/McBush this week will be acorn. They will use this gimmick to draw simple minds away from the economic disaster we face and that he has no answer for. Look close at this acorn thing. Would an organization interested in vote fraud really turn in a bundle of voter registrations listing the Dallas Cowboys Football Team? Aw Come On !! A third grader would know better. This is a conspiracy. Acorn has been infiltrated and sabotaged from within. Mark my words. The Truth will come out.

  21. She's not the only sports mom on this planet people

I hate to tell you this, but sarah's not the only sports mom on this planet – get over it people. She is a backstabbing, venom spewing, cat-scratching hateful woman who apparently thinks she has the green light to get away with anything including having hate rallies and inciting near pitch hatred. This isn't normal people. I would have probably voted for Mccain, until he proved what an idiot he is by putting her on the ticket. When her PMSing finger is on the button or she's mad because that phone is waking her up at 3 a.m. , you're going to regret you ever heard of Sarah Palin hockey mom.

Wow, that's really... creepy, Sarah Palin. Those comments are something you're proud of? I am so thankful my son has no desire to play hockey. I don't think I could handle sitting by watching other moms encourage their sons to "grind them into the boards!".
