Biden was honored at a Jefferson-Jackson dinner Monday night where he told supporters not to wonder about Obama.

DOVER, Delaware (CNN) – Joe Biden told supporters Monday night that they had nothing to wonder about with Barack Obama, pounding the podium and jabbing his finger into his chest, shouting, "he's like me!"

"For those of you who wonder about Barack Obama, don't wonder," said Biden to a friendly crowd at his home state's Jefferson-Jackson dinner. "I guarantee you, he feels as passionately about this as I do. He has the same measure, the same respect. Look folks, this is a guy who is the American dream."

"I'm getting tired of this stuff about Barack Obama," he added. "I know the guy and I know his family. And let me tell you something, this guy knows how much he owes this great country. And he knows it couldn't have happened anywhere else but the United States of America. So I don't want to hear about how different he is. I don't want to hear it. He's like me. He's like me! And all of you."

The senior senator from Delaware also reminded his supporters that he is running for re-election in the Senate — and that they shouldn't get caught up in the general election vote, just in case things don't work out.

"Just remember, folks, I am on the ballot. Don't be carried away with this vice president stuff. I am on the ballot running for my seventh term," said Biden. "So don't forget, don't stop at the top of that ticket, walk your way down. You can vote twice for the first time in your life for the same guy and have it be legal."

Clearly more at ease in front of the hometown crowd, Biden jabbed his opponent Sarah Palin for her debate performance and its subsequent spoof on 'Saturday Night Live.'

"In my debate with Gov. Palin - at least I think it was a debate - I saw it on 'Saturday Night Live'," said Biden to laughs from crowd. "She said in the middle of that debate as she was winking at y'all, she said she'd been listening to my speeches since she was in second grade. Well, I guess, just like she can see Russia from Alaska, she can see Delaware from Alaska. She's got great eyesight."

Biden left the dinner guests with a tip for Wednesday's debate between McCain and Obama: watch part of it with the sound off.

"Literally, turn the sound off, and just watch," said Biden. "Watch the body language of both men. You can sense it, folks. You know it, when there's a [commanding] presence. You know it when someone has the confidence and the certitude about himself and what he believes in."

Why exactly do Republicans say Obama is a socialist? The only reason I've heard is that they don't like his plan to increase taxes on the rich. During Nixon's time the tax rates on the rich were twice what they are today. Nobody complained about the transfer of wealth to the rich when they got their tax cuts, so they should shut up now when Obama proposes the rich pay their share. SOMEBODY has to pay for the multi-trillion dollar deficit the Republicans have left us with. If the rich aren't paying for it, then ordinary folks you and I will. As for the whole "Robin Hood" idea, I challenge any Republican to identify any big giveaways to the poor in Obama's platform. The McCain and Obama platforms are BOTH full of big spending proposals but only Obama has some idea how to pay for it. As for socialism, it was the Republican Bush administration that proposed a $700B wealth transfer to the big corporations to bail them out. THAT'S socialism!

Why is everyone suddenly reaching out for someone who is just like us?? Personally, I want someone who is smarter than me to be in charge. I want the Warren Buffets of the world to handle economics and treasury issues, the Nelson Mandelas to be peacmakers and diplomacy, the General Pattons to lead the military in war AND in peace. Average Joe Sixpack, Hockey Mom, "he's just like you and me" are no more qualified to run this great country than a 5th grader.

Have any of you out there heard about Palen's house she had built in 2002? The same contractor who worked on Sen. Stevens house built it and then two months later got the contract for the 12 million sports complex in Palin's home town. I wish CNN would check this out, I can't find out much about this. I would think the Alaskan voters would want to know the whole story .

Obama and Biden never said that they did not vote for the Bridge to Nowhere. The problem with Ms. Palin's lie is that she failed to mention that she was for the bridge b4 she was against it. Are you people serious? Obama is not a Muslim or Arab but if he was, who cares? America is not a monotheistic nation! We are a secular nation full of all different kinds of religions! Religion and politics dont mix and the fact that some of you would not vote for him because hes not christian is despicable! Elections should be about the issues and right now the economy, but no, Americans, especially republicans discriminate and hate people who arent like them! Its pathetic! Saying hes a terrorist and to "Kill him" is down right scary!

I ask all you religious freaks who wouldnt vote for a Muslim or Arab (which by the way, there are no arabs running for President or Muslims) how many times you've actually sat down and read the bible? Many Christian groups distort Jesus's teachings so I ask you to read, critically the bible and you'll realize that you actions are opposite your teachers! Voltaire said that religion and nationalism were the downfalls of mankind, how right he is!

It is really, really a sad state of affairs when one American has the nerve to call another one "un-American" simply because his name is not Joe Smith or Mary Johnson.

Seriously, are any of you McCain/Palin supporters or Obama haters reading what you post? You do realize that these blogs are read from others around the world.

It is really sad that many of you do not understand why African Americans do not trust Caucasians and others.

Think about it. Here is the chance for an African American man, one who is a family man, who is the only African American in the Senate, going after the American dream in politics and what does he and the African American community have to deal with? Smears, lies, and flat out hatred because he has the nerve to run for President of the United States.

Imagine if someone told you that you couldn't do your job because you're too ugly, too stupid, too fat, not a graduate of the same high school as the boss, etc. You'd be upset right? And what if there was a large media contingent that spewed the same thing? You'd be sick.

Well folks guess what? African Americans are tired of this crap.

Many people have asked me why African Americans are so angry and I tell them, turn on conservative talk radio and listen for yourselves to answer that question..

In the two years that Sen. Obama has been running for the Presidency, not a single conservative talk show host has congratulated him on reaching this goal. The only time that really has happened was when he go the nomination.

Seriously, for all of those who think he is different from you, don't forget that when you say that, you are basically saying that every African American in this country is not American. You are telling us that we do not belong in this country.

Think about that the next time you want to dehumanize a man who has accomplished more in his short political career than many of us could ever dream of in our lifetimes.

Sue in MI   October 14th, 2008 10:15 am ET

To the people that are more concerned about "socialism" than about the future of this country, I feel sorry for you! We are to be helping our fellow man, not castigating him for losing his job. No one is going to take your money-except McCain to finance a new war (oh, and he'll probably need to draft your sons and daughters as well, because we sure can't 'surrender' in Iraq by pulling out any troops.) Obama sees the bigger picture, and is for fairness and justice. That's kind of refreshing after the Bush years.
How can anyone with a brain and a conscience consider voting for a woman who hasn't told one truthful sentence since she was chosen? And does her husband not scare you? And do her children not deserve a PARENT raising them in their own, illegally built, home?

lucinOH,
What are you talking about? You are correct with regards to the republican frame of mind (limited government on economic issues but heavy laws regarding social issues), you are off on the democrat view point. It is the exact opposite (heavy government on economic and freedom from government on social issues). If republicans can't have it both ways, why can democrats have it?

ndubi   October 14th, 2008 10:14 am ET

What scares me about the American people is their gullibility. Some moron spreads a rumor that Obama was born in Kenya and some like-minded morons swallow it hook and sinker. At this rate Americans are about to make another mistake by electing a bad government and whining for the next four years. By the way, did someone say that electing Bush for the second time was like accepting to live with syphilis for four years? If you do not watch out, that is what is awaiting you unless you vote Obama/Biden on Nov4

Adrienne   October 14th, 2008 10:13 am ET

I think the reverse of the Bradley effect will be the case. Many Republicans will get in the polling booth and find they can't really vote for a ticket that has been as irresponsible as the McCain-Palin ticket. Obama is such a fine, thoughtful leader, and they will vote for Obama, when their Republican friends aren't there to watch them.

I am not afraid of Sen. Obama, I am more afraid of Gov. Palin. I am a Pennsylavanian, and she has been in PA, speaking about Nuclear energy? In a State where there was the first disaster? I trust what Sen Obama says, I don't trust someone who sprews out hate! In this Country hate has been a spewed alot! Farthermore, their irratical behavior is quite questionable. Whether or not that would trickle over into the White House. We had a questionable President for 8 years, why would I like his side kick and an airhead. She and McCain said, who is Sen. Obama? My question is who is This woman from Alaska. Who is that so-called man who was going to protect her from Witchcraft? My Goddess, the witch trials will be back! Both canidates have skeletons in their closets so just let that stuff go and look at the real issues. Obama is young , energetic, clear headed and level headed. He has a VP that is strong wise and well informed. On the other hand is McCain who is much older, slower both in what he does and how he thinks. His reaction time is very slow. Its very evident that his mental processes are not working at full capacity anymore. And his Vp is totally off the wall. If anyone in this election scares us ,it should be her. She is not professional, shes rude and much of the time obnoxious!!!

It's pathetic than Joe Biden has to even speak these words.

Isn't it sad what the Republican party and it's followers have done to try to discredit Senator Obama? Viral emails would like us to believe he is a terrorist, a Muslim, took his oath on a Koran, gets his money from terrorist countries, can't find his birth certificate, etc.

The truth is, Obama is a decent, honorable human being. He was raised in humble surroundings, studied hard to excel in school, helped his community, became a Christian, married and stayed faithful to one woman, is an active father to two beautiful children, and has run a campaign of honor and integrity.

This is a man who loves his country and his family. What the Republicans have tried to do to his reputation is dishonorable.
They should be ashamed.

bill   October 14th, 2008 10:02 am ET

People seem afraid of Obama for all the wrong reasons. Just because he is black he's been portraited as untrustworthy, a muslim, a terrorist, etc. He does have the best interest of the people in mind. He will surround himself with the best of the political world. We need change. We need to listen to Joe and not be afraid. We need to see Obama's strengths and intelligence and forgot his skin color. Read the Roling Stone article for all those McCain supporters who aren't afraid of their candidate.

Do you feel a sense of entitlement just like Obama? Because that's not gonna win over the independents who will determine the outcome of this election and have for the past two presidential elections.

JL   October 14th, 2008 9:58 am ET

I can't believe that there are people that are actually buying the McCain line about Obama "being different than us"…I was raised by a single mom, worked my way through college, got married and have a good career and cute kids. I even left a church once because I didn't like what the pastor was saying. The difference? I'm white and a woman.

Those that still think Obama is a muslim or a terrorist are just plain ignorant. How about trying to educate yourselves before jumping on the hate bandwagon? Or is that too much effort?

lucinOH   October 14th, 2008 9:57 am ET

First of all please get over when Biden said Obama is not experienced. It was during the primaries when he was trying to get elected as the candidate for president. What was he supposed to say? This guy is great, vote for him? Come on.
Secondly, reading some of these posts and other posts I now realize the difference between true republicans and true democrats. Republicans don't want government to tell them what to do with their money but want government to tell others what to do in social issues such as guns, abortion, sex ed in schools and stem cell research. Sorry, you can't have it both ways.
Democrats want the government to take care of all citizens on an economic and social level.
It is for those reasons the vote is still so close. Living in Ohio, I am shocked and embarrased that McCain is leading. Wake up Ohio and vote for change. Obama 08

Central FL for Obama/Biden   October 14th, 2008 9:56 am ET

I feel as if Sen. Obama has been scrutinized enough that I would trust him to babysit my own children but, I cannot say the same for Sen. McCain. Sen. McCain's position of privilege, wealth and "war hero" has kept the media from scrutinizing him in the same fashion and there are so many open questions about him like these:
1. Why does he keep going back to Vietnam to visit and be friendly with his former captors, (who love and endorse him for president)? And, why do other Vietnam Vets and POWs question his medals and imprisonment story?
2. Why does he spend so much time in casinos?
3. Why didn't Cindy McCain spend any time in prison for her theft of narcotic drugs and are we sure she is not still using them?
4. Where do the McCain family keep their money, (off-shore accounts, in which countries)?

She's just plain dumb about politics and anything else that's not in her immediate realm. And now she's denying any wrong doings? Seriously folks if you really adore and love her, what's drawing you to her? She's not real. She's a prop that they put a talking mouth on that repeats the same thing over and over again. scary possibility of the actual Voting Fraud .

Can you please take it back down to REALITY? How did the "Maverick" of the senate become the "Golden Child" of the Republican party? How can any of you sit up here and say that Joe Biden is a flip flopper for saying Obama isnt ready when that is the same thing that the GOP has stated about McCain in oh I dont know, How many elections has he ran for President in? All of the sudden he is fit and ready? NO! It is Politics people! They are always going to tell us what we want to hear… They are always going to run America they way "They" t hink it should. There is an insightful article in this morning's Washington Post about how Obama is already opening up lines of communication with the "Blue Dog Democrats", those fiscal conservatives who emphasize the need for fiscal restraint and pay as you go approaches in government. Obama is already doing the groundwork to collaborate with these folks.

For those of you who have been swayed by the Republican image-smears of Obama as "far left", a "socialist" or a "tax & spend liberal", don't believe it. He is much more centrist and pragmatic, and has a true interest in getting this country back on its economic feet. This includes getting our budget back in line.

I agree with Sweetie, right now we can't have a complete novice in the White House. Sarah Palin is the definition of a complete novice. I find it amazing, we are 3 weeks away from the election and Sarah Palin has yet to have a real press conference- one where all the media is invited, can ask whatever questions they want and ask follow up questions. How in the world can we trust Sarah Palin with our country if the McCain campaign can't trust her with something as simple as a press conference? We need to elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

BO had help from Rezko and Joe got a sweetheart deal from an MBNA banking exec who sold the whole estate to Joe for exactly what he paid yrs. before. AND later when Jill wanted additional land bordering a lake another MBNA exec. sold that for no profit also. Then, they supported Joe's senate races and Joe supported laws which boost banking profits. Yeah they're a lot more alike than people think.

The "I've been hearing about his senate speeches since I was in the second grade" comment doesn't really make much sense and Palin's denial of it being a jab at Biden's age is pretty transparent. John McCain can only dream of having the smarts and innovative ideas and connection to ALL American's that Sen Obama has…..unfortunately John McCain is out of touch and can only rouse the less intelligent people to his rallies.
John McCain can never be viewed again as far as I'm concerned as an honorable man……he has lost all dignity and self respect.

First - good for you, Joe!
Second - (and I should probably know this) is the Governor of Delaware Republican or Democrat? Because I believe he will be appointing Joe Biden's replacement.
Third - thank you to Campbell Brown for her article castigating those who would use 'Muslim' or 'Arab' as racial slurs. But to answer the question posed in her article - unfortunately, while it should not matter if Obama were Arab American or Muslim, it would. It would spell the end of the election for him. So we need to continue to educate people. Thanks to Campbell Brown and Joe Biden - and also to John McCain - for doing that.

Baze   October 14th, 2008 9:38 am ET

I love how this late in the game McCain supporters are still hoping and praying for a reason to vote for him.

Jozee   October 14th, 2008 9:37 am ET

One of the most troubling phrases to come out of this election season is the phrase, "He's not one of us." I don't know what that means, but have an idea that if you don't look like me, act like me, think like me, and go to the same church as I do, then you must be very scary and untrustworthy. How un-American is that?

We are a nation of diverse people and thankfully we are all different and have different experiences. That is what makes America the unique place that it is.

Senators Obama and Biden have shown through their actions and speeches that we are all Americans and we must come together to be great again. Together we will all rise, and a divided house cannot stand.

GO OBAMA/BIDEN

Bruce   October 14th, 2008 9:36 am ET

Obama has spent a lot of time detaining the plan he has to help every american. Mccain is waiting to see what points of Obama's plan he can try to make his own.

McCain is big to blame Obama for taking his time but who is holding back now. At least when Obama talks about a plan he has though it over and has a workable plan thta can be put to the vote NOW.

McCain is still trying to come up with something that he can try to sell to his party.

Scott L   October 14th, 2008 9:36 am ET

Big difference is that Obama wants to "spread the wealth around".

That is socialism. Not capitalism.

John McCain & Palin are merely surviving because of the ignorance, isolationism, and prejudices of many within their electorate.

McCain/Palin campaign events are starting to resemble more and more the KKK rallies of the 1940-50s.

Global news and media is reporting on the racial bigotry that has been given a new life in the United States by McCain, Palin and their supporters. McCain and Palin are already damaging the image of the United States in the world, and they haven’t even lost yet.

Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton onced wondered about Barack Obama, during the primary season, if this man was qualified or prepared to be president, and secure the U.S. against terrorism and communism (?) Can he answer phone calls at 3 A.M., in the White House, or deal with seasoned leaders such as Vladimer Putin of Russia, and other leaders form China, North Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Cuba, Iran and Israel?? What kind of experience or government achievements does he have? And wonder why Louis Farrakhan endorses Barack Obama, and calls him the "Messiah?" Why, and who is Louis Farrakhan?

Sue   October 14th, 2008 9:31 am ET

Hey, Stop the Arrogance- The world has had to deal with the arrogance of the Republican Party for 8 years. I understand your pain- I have felt it for 8 years now. If you want arrogance, remember Bush's acceptance speech in 2004? "I've won and earned political capital, and I'm going to spend it!" Well, you are overdrawn, you fool, and you have thrust the entire country in a recession with your idiocy. Start 2 wars and cut taxes?? We have been led by a moron for 8 years. Those of us who watched the country fail -without blinders on- know how this happenned. You're right I'm arrogant- I was right in 2000, and 2004. The country has failed. Now we have a chance to win it back. You were wrong in 2000 and 2004. Now go slink away and recognize your responsibility for what has happenned.

Electing Obama to the white house is something that unites most of the people in this whole world.

To people like me who do not have a chance to vote in this election it is like a love that is never expressed. At times it is like watching your favourite player in the game from home. You cant cheer like the crowd in the arena, you cant play with him like his team in the ground and still I am here at home hoping that he wins. Hoping that we turn the page in history and hoping that the American dream flourishs.

Never have I seen a candidate so humble and so determined to pull the country in the direction of hope and away from fear of the future. Never have I seen a candidate who calls for unity and sets an example for his people.
Barack Obama is a true American, and I can feel that the world sure is proud of him.

A vote for Obama is a vote for Hope
A vote for Obama is a vote for Freedom
A vote for Obama is a vote for World Peace
A vote for Obama is a vote for Prosperity
A vote for Obama is a vote for Unity

The person all of America should be concerned about is McCain and his imbecilic sidekick.

It is amazing that in 2008 people are still so racist and would put the color of a persons skin before the welfare of their family, their children, their country and themselves.

Everyone you talk to says they believe Obama and Biden will win in November. I believe it also, but with much caution.

I learned long ago not to underestimate the ignorance and apathy of the American people!

Hey Joe

It wasn't that long ago you said that Obama was not ready to be president, that America did not need a person that would have to train on the job. Just some more political lies? Tell us how we can look at you and know when you're telling the truth. Perhaps if you raise your eye brows or put on the politician grin, we'll know it's just some more political rhetoric, you know, just to get elected. If you knew there were so many things wrong with the system, why didn't you do something about it, at least inform the public, you had 3 decades. Perhaps you didn't know, which is even worse. Tell the public how we can extract the truth out of the two parties. The frustration is not with the situation in the economy, but in not knowing whether what we are being told by both parties is the truth. Neither party just doesn't get it.

There should be more light shed on Palin with all the baggage and her lack of exposure to the press. She is probably the most dangerous person McCain could have chosen as his VP with her limited knowledge and intellect.

I watched the Colbert Report last night and the Conservative Kathleen Parker almost admitted she would be voting for Obama and told of the hate mail she got for telling the world Palin should be dropped from the ticket.

Joe,

I'm sure he IS just like you…tax and spend. Bigger government, support bailouts, support FISA, and limit our freedoms.

The scary part about McCain is that he is JUST LIKE YOU TOO: bigger government, tax and spend, bailout support, and FISA.

Only Bob Barr is the presidential candidate who is different, who is supporting the Constitution and smaller government. Both Democrats and Republicans have returned to business as usual in Washington, with attacks and no depth for solutions.

Des,Toronto   October 14th, 2008 9:21 am ET

This was meant for McCain's new tax proposals but the comments have been closed,so here it is:

I just had to add another comment about McCain's supposedly new economic plan.Look at it carefully and like stealing the "Change" theme and slogan from Obama,he now has an "Identical" proposal not to tax unemployment benefits. What a fraud, not too long ago he was not even supportive of extending these benefits in these hard times.Lower taxes for seniors, how about NO TAXES for seniors who make $50k a year.I hope the press and American people expose this plagiarist of IDEAS and POLICY.Wait for Obama to state his policy and steal it….disgraceful and unethical.

I do so hate to rain on Joe Biden's little pre-election victory speech, but first of all, I have my doubts that "The Annointed One" is just like your average American, because I'd wager that a large percentage of Americans, if asked, could readily produce a copy of their own birth certificate. Secondly, I personally have never been inclined to vote for ANYONE based on their body language and "commanding presence". It's things like this that just reinforce my viewpoint that the reason so many people have become seemingly infatuated with Obama is because he LOOKS like he'd be a good president.

Just a short time ago Biden was saying that Obama was unqualified to be President. Now that he is his VP, Obama is the best qualified for the Presidency. Amazing how people can change their tune when it means success for them because Obama qualifications haven't changed since the beginning of his campaign. Just because he can run a campaign doesn't mean he can run a country.

Darrell   October 14th, 2008 9:16 am ET

It really ticks me off that there are people out there that think Barrack Obama is anything different then the average American. For crying out loud I am a Canadian and did extensive research on the candidates as it makes a huge difference in our lives as to who gets elected.I know both candidates life stories and both are American as apple pie.I don't much care what church either went to but have comfort that they both believe in God, and they have both served the best interest in their country. They have different life journeys, which have shaped them in different ways. There are things McCain has done and things that Obama has done that we might not agree with, but the question ought to be who they are today. There is no question whatsoever that Obama is a christain that was born in America, and has lived in America since he was a young boy.Just the same McCain has lived all but the years as a prisoner of war in America. They both have nothing but hope for America, and what voters need to do is get this to the basics, and that is who do you think will lead this country in the most important issues to you.get a piece of paper if you must and do a pros and cons list with the issues you care about.Do your research to answer your questions and fact check them, then make a mature intellegent choice.

At a time when our country needs to be united, Mccain/palin
have spewed tactics which have caused anger, hatred,
fear and racism among us.
According to reports they have run the sleaziest campaign
in the history of our country.
Voters, look beyond what they say and vote for the man
best qualified to run our country. Can you put trust in
a man, woman whose whole campaign has been
lies, distortions, attacks and swiftboating? Do you want
a man such as this to run our country?
How in the world could you ever trust them?
Simple answer, you cannot.

Those who wonder about Obama are as foolish as those who condemn others for being different than themselves. For eight years I have been scared of an arrogant white guy ruining our nation so Obama cannot do much additional damage. These people must think instead of spreading fear because we can't get much worse than we are at present.

Tim   October 14th, 2008 9:16 am ET

Joe's a good guy. How about McCain being so upset by Lewis comparing his fear mongering to Wallace. That was their exact plan, to try to scare people about Obama. It worked in the 70's and of course McCain was there to see it. This shows his unstable judgement. The whole thing backfired on him and the people of this era were disgusted by it. He does a complete 180 and starts defending Obama and is just "apalled" at anyone making the statement that he was inciting his people to violence. It wasn't just the fringe as he states. It was the majority of his sheep, reacting to his and Palin's very own hate filled rhetoric. What a complete and obvious joke these people are. He angered all americans and his extremely poor judgement cost him the race….thank God.

Rev. Wright or Ayers do not scare me. Anyone who has an advanced education and/or coupled with a global understanding and perception of history, foreign policy, and America's place within it would not base their vote on weak and desperate McCain/Palin attacks and few Fox news sound bytes.

What is far more frightening is John McCain's worsening mental stability. McCain's declining mental health needs to be seriously examined. McCain is truly mentally and physically in decline. And not too many people are grieving about that.

He's right about the sound thing - it's amazing how agitated, fretful, and OLLLLDDDD McCain looks on camera. Even the still shots at campaign stops seem to have this feeling of his having lurched to strike a pose.

I sure hope Joe isn't going to be Senator and will be VP!

Obama/Biden

Hey Joe-

Obama is NOT the American dream. American dream is capitalism, to start your own business, to work hard to earn a good wealthy living.

Obama told that Plumber who worked 15 years to get to his own plumbing business that he wants to "spread the wealth around to those behind him"

Are you kidding me? That is NOT the American dream.

That is socialism my friends. Karl Marx = "take from those that have to those that need" = "spread the wealth around".

I don't care about Terrorism, Homelessness, Immigration, Iraq, Abortion, Religion, Guns, anything else. DO NOT TAKE MY HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!

I think George Orwell's description is gives us a look into the McCain Campaign's entire strategy and one Sarah Palin (aka Troopergate) clearly embraces.

The adjective Orwellian describes the situation, idea, or societal condition that George Orwell identified as being destructive to the welfare of a free-society. It connotes an attitude and a policy of control by propaganda, misinformation, denial of truth, and manipulation of the past, including the "unperson" — a person whose past existence is expunged from the public record and memory, practiced by modern repressive governments.
