I suspect that Palin will join Rush Limbaugh in the obscenity of right wing TALK RADIO. She has proven that she will be excellent in that capicity! Good ridance to bad rubbage as my school kids say... Intelligent people just turn Limbaugh OFF.

Only ignorant sheeplike people listen to things like that.... those who can easily be led over the nearest cliff by a smooth talking politician or bible thumping preacher! They are just waiting to be told what to do, because they CANNOT think for themselves.

Too bad there are so many of them! They are coming out of the woodwork for Palin. It's scary.... to say the least!

Go Obama!

Chuck Hagel was working across party lines before it was the acceptable thing to do. As much as I like Biden as Obama's running mate, I had sincerely hoped he would choose Senator Hagel. To make that move would be a real indicator of not only a willingness to work across the isle, but an action in that direction. Since that choice was made, I am still holding out hope that Senator Obama finds a place in his cabinet for Senator Hagel in his cabinet.

For me, an endorsement by Chuck Hagel of Senator Obama over his close friend Senator McCain is a clear indication of McCain's deal with the devil to become more conservative in his politics in order to gain his parties nomination for the Presidency. If Obama is good enough for Hagel, he is good enough for me.

Hagel will be in Obama's cabinet for sure. He could fill several spots. Maybe Secretary of State Defense. Would be excellent in either post.

MESSAGE TO ALL VOTING FOR OBAMA!
We cannot let the Republicans scare us away from using Obama's middle name. America is not a racist country (atleast wasnt founded with those principles) and there should be nothing wrong when a man's name is Hussien! We arent a bunch of 2 year olds that would connect him to Saddam because they share a same name. Grow up people. I am voting for Barack Hussien Obama and Im proud of it! Hes a better American than alot of you out there.

One member states the AOL poll is never mentioned in the main stream media due to how it looks for McCain. It has McCain by a 10% margin, and it has OVER 150,000 members voting, which is far more than any poll taken by any news media. And, just for grins, I tried to vote twice, and it stated I had already voted. I don't know what to think anymore, except WAKE UP AMERICA before we have Chavez and company roaming our streets as they don't want McCain in due to his experience.

When you have the choice of voting for someone who runs a flip flopping, erratic, and inconsistent campaign, with someone who is running a smart, intelligent, thoughtful campaign, which one would you vote for?

When you have the choice of voting for a ticket which has presented itself as truly presidential or voting for a ticket that resorts to swift boating and lies, which ticket would you vote for?

I am not surprised that Mr. Nagel's wife is supporting Obama. He is the only viable choice. There is no question that Barak Obama and Joe Biden has presented themselves as the only choice for '08.

Mr. Hopper:
I think you said it yourself that the poll you link to is not scientific and surely contains a great deal of selection bias (who under 65 still has an AOL account?) I wouldn't get too excited about it, it's like looking at a poll of national review readers or Fox news watchers.

Oh my god.....John McCain your ship is sinking. The rats are looking for a safe harbor. Senator Hagel has not supported either president candidate, but his wife is supporting Obama. Palin strikes again.....another woman's vote lost. This a loss from McCain's own party....not the evangelicals. McCain keeps on being mad at "that one", but his poor decisions keep kicking him to the curb. He has no one to blame but himself. I hope that at the next debate that McCain decides to be dignified and act like a grown-up. He cannot display contempt and anger. He has lost all the trust he might have had, but he could still retain his dignity.

Mr. Hopper-

This doesn't come as much of a surprise to me since AOL's customer base is 1) people with few computer skills, and 2) people in rural areas that have to rely on dial-up for Internet access. Now, if Comcast or Time-Warner did the same thing, I think we would see the opposite.

As you stated before, this poll is unscientific. There is nothing stopping Joe-six-pack from stuffing the ballots in favor of McCain. You can't rely on these types of polls (ask the Hungarians who almost had to drive across the Stephen Colbert Bridge).

Bern, I agree with you about Lou Dobbs, I used to like him, but I don't like what he's saying about ACORN, and Obama's so-called connection. I've been changing the channel when Lou is on now.

Sometimes Lou gets so mad, I think his head is going to explode. I worry that he might have a stroke on the air if he doesn't chill out a bit!

It is funny how Hagel said Palin was not ready to be vp but does he really believe Obama is ready to be pres? Don't get me wrong I don't think palin is ready either but I think she has alot more experience than Obama. How many trips did obama make before running in this election? They all say obama has so much more foreign policy experience, what is it !! this is a man who went to half the countries in europe but has never been to Canada( largest trading partner and largest supplier of oil to the U.S) I would think you should visit those countries you actually need rather than those you want to like you.

Obama needs a lesson in Capital Gains. He said no one has any so no ones needs the tax break.

Now that is from the mouth. He gives cotton candy speeches with no substance and now it appears he needs a lesson it tax management.

maybe he would like to give cocaine sellers a tax break.

Most welcome news! Two very intelligent women.
America MUST give Barak Obama a chance. What do you need most? Economic, social and political stability - America reaching out to itself and to the rest of the global community, perfoming a credible role as a global leader. Then the Talibans, the Hezbollahs, the Al Quaeda's will gradually be history. Even Osama Bin Laden might give himself up voluntarily!!!!!!!!!
Peace and Goodwill to all men!

This is quite an indicia of the migration occurring in the Republican Party this general election. McCain wasn't doing so badly for a while. Not dazzling, but not bad either. Then he chose Palin and the hatred began. Now we read bits and pieces of Republicans turning their back on McCain either for directly supporting or flat out refusing to vote for him. Moreover these Republicans are making no bones about why they will vote for Obama. It isn't necessarily about McCain personally, but between the 2 candidates the difference is crystal clear and stark.

I applaud Mrs. Hagel and other Republicans who are choosing to support Barack Obama. It's not always an easy thing to do

I'm a Republican turned Independant who wants what is best for our country... and, frankly, I don't even recognize the Republican party anymore.

Now we just need Colin Powell!

I have said since the Middle East-European trip, when Hagel accompanied Obama, that Hagel would be a great addition to Obama's cabinet. He has said repeatedly that he would like a bipartisan cabinet. I'm excited.

Senator and hopefully soon to be President Obama will unite this country and the world. Please, everyone that is allowed to vote, go. I am as a permanent resident alien, unfortunately, not able to do it.
If you need to know how educated and understanding of world affairs Senator Obama really is, read the speech he gave in Berlin (July).

I'll be glad when the other 42% of America wakes up and finally comes around. This election is about electing the next leader for our country who will be ready on Day 1. McCain can't even run his campaign.

Mr. Hopper

You do know that for statistical reasons, most polls are ~600, ~1000, ~3000 right? More or less makes the curve less accurate - take statistics. Drug/Medical research is done the same way.

Additionally, the AOL "poll" has always had McCain ahead... I'm surprised Fox News shows Obama leading... they also have a conservative base.

The Hagel's are supremely principled people. He would have been a good candidate for P or VP himself.

The Obama's show the true bipartisan leadership this coutry is hungry for. All of the hate filled stuff is making me sick. This country has too many serious problems to be letting the color of a person's skin determine this election. How sad for America. It makes me sad to think that people in this country would rather have 4 more years of the same failed policy or worse, than to vote for Obama. I am sad for the whole world's sake.

We have to turn out the vote like there is no tomorrow, because our future is totally at stake here. If we have 4 more years of Republican rule, I don't think you will even recognize this country when they are done. I lost my job of 26 years in the first 8 years, do we have to lose everything else before people in this country wake up?
