HEMPSTEAD, New York (CNN) – Both Obama and McCain are free traders, but McCain's problem is that he is a more full-throated ideological free trader and that doesn't play well in economic times of trouble.
The public is very suspicious of free trade.

Obama seems to be maintaining his composure and trying to focus on actual issues. He seems totally disinterested in engaging McCain in low-road accusations and petty bickering.
I almost wish that Obama wasn't distracted by having to acknowledge the contempt that is streaming endlessly from McCain. I want to hear more from both of them...but only Obama seems to be talking about anything.
