(CNN) - Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin plans to appear on Saturday Night Live this weekend, multiple sources told CNN Thursday.

    WHY?????

It's only good when Tina Fey as "Sarah Palin" appears on SNL. Now she'll think we really like her.

I guess Tina Fey will be going Meet the Press on Sunday taking an interview in Sarah Palin's place. What a crazy world we live in.

Has Sarah Palin provided a singular coherent interview in the last 5 weeks???

SNL is doing this for one reason: ratings. Even though they've made Palin look like the Village Idiot, they cannot appear to be cruel to her on this show. The irony is that Palin is to dim to realize that the program has helped make her the laughingstock of the English speaking world. But, I guess, when you're a politician looking for free air-time, you do what you have to do, even if it means public humiliation. She'll probably do a skit where she shoots a donkey from a helicopter.

If anything helps Palin, it will be appearing on SNL. Perfect opportunity for her to increase her likeability.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will win this election.

Glad to hear Obama was only EIGHT YEARS OLD when Ayers committed those heinous crimes. There are a lot of teenagers around now that were eight during the 9-11 attacks. It's good to see that, in another 16 years, they can become "casual acquaintances" with people involved with that attack.
Ayers and his wife are known terrorists (by pretty much everyone in Chicago), they named their son after a terrorist cop-killer (also well known), and he has been photographed stomping on the American flag. Let's ignore the fact that the limited relationship is enough to prevent Obama from cleaning floors in an FBI building. Obama claims to be just a friendly acquaintance with Ayers. McCain wouldn't even shake his hand. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE.

Okay…is there a reason why no one is addressing the elephant in the room or on the debate table. John McCain’s over all behavior during the debate scared me…this is someone who indicates signs of anger management issues and from a description of a cry baby by Gov. Schwarzenegger…Senator McCain presented as a “girly man” during the debate stating “he got his feelings hurt.” Was he serious?? That whole scene in the debate was uncomfortable to me and very strange and I can not believe no one is talking about it. Senator’s McCain behavior was nothing like what I would have expected from a POW.

There is just no better way of saying it – Sarah Palin is an idiot.
I finally realized what her major malfunction is – she doesn't know what she doesn't know. To think that people want to see her on SNL because they like her? They want to see her because WE are ALL amazed at what an idiot she is and doesn't realize it.

Should I be prepared for a good laugh or scared that she will spread hate speech again? Honestly, I am fed up with this potential President-to-be. I think it's time the American people had an honest, intelligent Vice President, one who serves the needs of the people, not the needs of the folks at Enron. I also find that "Joe the Plumber" is not some random person at a rope line, but is some sort of "star" of ultra right wing talk radio. Not only that, he does not have a plumbers licence, makes about $40K, has no plan to buy has boss's plumbing business, and has owed back taxes since January 2007. A plant??? [not the potted kind]

Might as well get all the publicity you can get. Your 15 minutes are almost up. Both you and McCain can have your television spots. Make it a good one, you never know. Acting could of been something you both could of done well at, since leadership isn't a key qualification of the job.

I think itmay actually help their campaign.. Let people see her and realize she is very astute as well as funny.

I was originally for Obama but have decided to go with McCain. Why?
Taking money from those who have worked hard and used wise judgment to give to those who decided to risk or take the easy way out is just plain wrong. I've worked hard to ensure my kid's future
and the government is not going to "spread" my hard earned dollars.

If iI want to give a handout to someone that's fine. When the government takes it from me to give to someone else that's socialism. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

Thanks for the warning. I will watch a different channel. The Palin women is a horrible. Im less than the 8 weeks since she has been introduced to America, she has proven that she is a pathological liar, an extremist, and a typical "mean girl" to others and a puppet to her controlling husband.

Palin is NOT a role model. She is a horrible mother, parading that special needs baby around and not policing her loose-moraled daughter, and she is against education since she supports her baby's baby daddy to drop out of school vs. entering he senior year of high school.

Palin left Wasilla in $+14 million in debt. there's questions on whether the City of Wasilla paid for her house since it was built at the same time as the sports complex that she pushed. She left the state of Alaska in debt from that plane she didn't sell on e-bay but to a Rebublican crony at a $6 million dollar loss, and the "bridge to nowhere was stopped for 2 reasons, (a) the Feds already stopped funding it and (b) the Fed funds they did receive ($105 million), was transferred to the SECOND BRIDGE TO NOWHERE that goes from Anchorage to about 50 miles from Wasilla.

Palin is a cunning, shrewd, evil human who is a trifecta of Bush-Cheney-Hitler wearing lipstick and a skirt.

McCain has lied saying that this man cannot purchase the business that he has worked for years at because Senator Obama will over tax him. Well Joe the Plumber is a man that does not have the Plumbing license needed to do the job that he is doing and if he has messed up some peoples homes with his so called plumbing expertise OMG what another boo boo, he is not legal so he cannot buy anything plus he only makes a little over $40,000.00 and he is one of the people that Senator Obama will be helping from the bottom up he also has tax issues, yet, Senator McStupid did not vet him just like he didn't vet FAILIN PALIN!+

My wife and I did not receive a stimulus check because we earned too much money. We paid more in taxes than my aunts made last year, yet they each received stimulus checks. That my friend is spreading wealth around, perpetrated by your republican administration. Get the facts straight before you start spreading false information.

In politics folks you have to take the strongest critic and spin it so it becomes either A) a strength (McCain a senator censured for improper financial issues becomes a finance reformer) or B) confronting it head on as if it is not a big deal, or C) distract critics and make it go away.
Obviously Plain is to ill informed, and unintelligent to do A, and although C seems to have been working, the McCain folks seem to want to make Palin's unsuitability for the office of vice president a front page news story, so looks like they're going for option B.
This move is more about Palin's political future than John McCain's waning presidential hopes.

    Mikey,

I just found out about all that on CNN today that "Joe the Plumber" isn't really a plumer after all. Came to find out he's the son in law of Charles Keating, the same Keating guy that McCain was involved with in a scandal back in the early 80s hmmmm. Seriously, its not funny anymore. Why isn’t anyone seriously asking, WHO IS SARA PALIN? Americans are completely willing to elect Sara Palin to the possible highest
office in the land, to take charge of their lives, knowing absolutely
nothing of substance about her. This is how Hitler got into power.
At least Senator Obama has been vetted. Believe me, he would not
have gotten this far without the feds going over him with a fine tooth
comb. You can’t say the same about Sara Palin. It will be too late when
you can’t check certain books out of the library, or your daughter who’s
pregnant from rape can’t have an abortion because fascist Palin won’t
allow it. Americans should wake up and stop being vunerable and
stupid in their responsability to elect a qualified person to office.

The Americans have a right to hear from the next person who could be a heartbeat away from being President of OUR COUNTRY.

Interviews are the way it is done, like it or not.

"Canned Speeches and Rally's" are NOT REAL.

NOT REAL is no way to determine if someone is qualified.

Unfortunately, I think she will probably do very well. Humanizing her is not in the Dems best interests. Are ratings so important to Lorne Michaels and NBC that they would risk the outcome of this most important election of our time? Apparently so.

Sarah, when are you going to go on the Sunday morning talk show circuit? I'd love to see you on Meet The Press...as long as Brokaw doesn't toss softball questions your way. Better yet, why not go on the NBC news and interview with Brian Williams since you went on ABC and CBS?

She can handle SNL. Her job will be to read rehearsed text off of cue cards and be goofy. But she is too busy to go on Meet the Press or one of the REAL news shows? "Joe the Plumber" has given more press conferences-more coherently-in one day than Palin has in over a month and a half!

Sarah Palin is genuine alright she is a genuine fool....the woman has no intelligence and is just like a Stepford Wife.....she can't string a sentence together uness it's written down for her!!!!
All this good ole gal....heck....gosh darn and you betcha is supposed to qualify her for VP.....when does having knowledge of the issues come into play???
Tiny Fey does a good impression of her....and it would be extra funny if it wasn't true, that Sarah Palin is as dippy as Tina Fey portrays her.....hardly good credentials for someone who is next in line to the President.
I really think the folks who like and back her fail to realize the seriousness of Sarah Palin actually being in charge of this country.....this is not a joke folks!!!

i think this will be absolutely HILARIOUS to see palin make a fool of herself AGAIN. they're not going to do anything but make fun of her and i dont think she should be joking around at a time like this. this is not a risk, its a mistake. like her for vp is a mistake. the ppl are going to pound her for appearing on snl but not being willing to talk to cnn. palin is the "attention-starved diva" who thinks shes the one running for president. and one more thing :P i am not that suprised that a day after mccain wants to stop the negative adds they're sending out these horrible last effort calls. it just seems childish and i look down upon him andhis campaign for this. Appearing on SNL is probably the safest thing she can do.

What Sarah Palin needs to do is appear on a talk show like, say, The Daily Show. Obama, McCain and Biden have appeared on that show multiple times (McCain's been on 14 times), and they were able to show that they have a sense of humor, and more importantly, just have a noral conversation with someone.

LoL if this is where Palin thinks her time is best spent, I hope SNL throws her a zinger and gives some "surprise" guest spots on that same episode to the reporters she has been dodging so they at least get some face time with her. Maybe the host of Meet the Press? Anderson Cooper would be a hoot!

  217. we need something new- from OH

Marc- think about it. No matter who the next president is, HE WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES. No matter what- the national debt clock just ran out of spaces to declare exactly what the national debt is. The american people have to pitch in to help STOP IT. we cannot expect citizens of foreign countries to lend money to us to have to repay our debt. The american citizes are going to have to step up. Obama knows this, so he has ensured that the people in our society who can afford it step up, not those who cannot afford it. And Obama would just be ELIMINATING the BUSH tax cuts, restoring the tax code to how it was under bill clinton, and CUTTING taxes for those who make under 250,000 dollars a year.

Joe the plumber's business does NOT make over 250,000 a year (he made a mistake when he said so, as reported on MSNBC), and most small businesses don't make that much. Obama has a great plan for small businesses- a 3,000 tax cut for each job created, plus many other things (check out his website)

Do you think a group of private businessmen are going to come together and say OK, we are going to eliminate our dependence of foreign oil by investing 15 billion each year into america's brain. NO! We need leadership, resolve, commitment from a recognized LEADER to do this. We need a president to gather the resources to do this. We need obama! Eliminating our dependence on oil will help improve our economy and eliminate the dangerous gap which is growing between the rich and the poor in this country.

Sarah is more forward, the woman who stated when asked her opinion about the war in Iraq that she did not keep up much with it. That is a slap in the face to those in the military. You want to be a heartbeat away from being the commander in chief, but up until being nominated as John McCain's running mate and her son joining the military she just did not keep up with the situation in Iraq. Sounds very patriotic, huh, to not even attempt to keep abreast of all the national and international issues. I am military wife and the daughter of retired solider and I find her lack of understanding and intelligence on national issues, government policies, international relations, American history, and our cultural history udderly appalling. The woman can't sit down and have a serious and open dialogue with well respected journalists, but she can go on SNL. SHE IS A JOKE!

Yo Sarah, how about doing a show like "Meet the Press" or something with some substance?? Oh that's right.... it's easier for you to be a jokester. SNL is funny, but we're looking for a Vice President, not a comic. You don't even have the ability to do Letterman or Leno because they might actually ask you a question that would require a thoughtful answer.

Gov. Palin will go on SNL but not Meet The Press. This is just insane. I am a concerned American who feels that we don't know anything about her positions, where she would take the country in the event she has to step in to be President, does she have any stance on our foreign policy. What does reform mean? Reform is the new Change.

I find Sarah Palin intelligent and refreshing. You can have a regular life-husband and children and be happy. Not everyone who goes to the "best" universities (HA) are intelligent. Some are the unhappiest people you could meet. Public universities have delivered some of the most intelligent, well-adjusted people in this country. In recent times the elite schools have given us some of the most ridiculous public figures- Bush, Kerry, Clinton (remember Monica-gate). Maybe the country is ready for down-to earth!!!! Have you heard of the word "Deficit"?

    Go McCain / Palin 2008

Like the true narcissist egomaniac she is, Palin will do anything for attention. Maybe she can get the SNL audience to yell "KILL HIM" or "TERRORIST" and then just smile as usual. Let's pray that it is all part of God's plan.

I think the SNL cast should pull a John McCain....When Palin shows up, the entire cast calls up and say they are suspending their jobs to campaign for Obama...Let Palin take the stage solo! and have a slew of reporters ask her 'questions'....
Have her bring Todd, Bristol, future son-in-law...and act out "A Day in the Life of Alaska's Palins" it just might compare to the Coneheads....wait, the Coneheads were intelligent beings!! Ooops!!...
Yeah, I agree, sic the Church Lady on Sarah!! Isn't that Special?...Just think folks, in 19 days we'll never, ever see or hear of a Palin again!!!!!!!!!

Does the Republican party think Sarah Palin going on SNL is going to help John McCain's chances? I think Sarah Palin is more interested in the spotlight then the Vice Presidents office!! How could you have a questionable Vice President candidate who in June didn't know what the VP does, go on a comedy show? I can't wait to see this one!!!

Barack Obama is the right choice for America. It is not about black or white. It is about who is best to lead the United States. That person is Barack Obama!!

She can't do an intelligent interview, she has not appeared on Face The Nation or Meet The Press...but she can appear on SNL. I am not a fan of Palins, but, she is not doing herself a service by feeding this notion held by many that she is an unqualified airhead.

You know ive been thinkin about this since ive first heard the offer,my conclusion is if she declined to do it,there would be great talk of her insecurities as a person. There must of been a great back up of people convincing her to do the show or it would lead to bad publicity.Meaning i believe if it was her decion ,she would not do it,how many agree?

I really don't get this. Gov. Palin is willing to go on a comedy show that has parodied her to no end, but won't do the Sunday morning news shows, Today, or even the View?

She prides herself as a 'pitbull in lipstick' and says she's ready to be VP or even President if need be. That sounds pretty darn confident, even courageous.

So why, Gov. Palin, why aren't you meeting with the press? What are you afraid of? Politics and the press go hand in hand. You can't avoid them forever.

i wonder why didn't sarah palin asked the "great people of north carolina" to go vote early as their one-stop polling places are open from now til november 1st.

could it be that the mccain campaign is planning to question and request invalid all early ballots in nc (as they already done in other states), and if they do tell people to vote early, the republican votes be void as well?

Please search within yourselves...Is it maybe that she is successful and accomplished and you all negative MEN are jealous of her accomplishments as a WOMAN? All of you MEN speaking negatively about her SEARCH, really SEARCH within yourselves....I feel for your wives!!

tina fey will be great as usual. lock palin in the toilet so she doesn't try to steal the light and wink her way out of the skit.

If the McCain Camp is smart, when the SNL show is over and they get ready to leave they will take Tina Fey and leave Six-pack Sarah. Tina Fay will make a better VP.

Sarah is great! Obama and Biden are boring. Fact is, Palin is far more qualified than either Obama or Biden to be US President. Palin has been elected to and successfully served as an elected executive leader of a city and a state. Something neither Obama nor Biden have done. Obama is like Nixon, trying to cover up his abuse of power on the Board he served on with unrepentant terrorist Ayers. Both McCain and Palin are proven bipartisan leaders. Obama and Biden are two of the most partisan Senators in the US. The questions regarding Obama's relationships with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers (who tried to murder people) are valid issues, not negative politics.

  280. Sarah Outdraws Obama Big Time

What a woman. It's really Obama vs. Sarah Palin, not McCain.

Sarah outdrew Obama by 10 million viewers in her debate. She also drew 60,000 to hear her in Orlando and 45,000 in Virginia last week.
Further she outdrew Biden in his own home town of Scranton. Shades of Gore losing Tenn.

Finally Sarah is so much more accomplished than her critics. Mayor, Governor with the highest approval rating in the U.S., Member Alaska Energy and Conservation Board and all by the age of 44 and all while raising 5 kids.

    Sarah Palin for Pres. 2012 & 2016

  281. Sarah Moves The Needle

Sarah Palin is the only candidate that moves the needle on the Nielsen ratings.

10 million more people watched her debate than any of the Obama/McCain debates.

When she was on Fox with Sean Hannity she drew 3 times the audience that was watching Larry King and Rachel (the dike) Madow.

And when she goes on SNL, they'll break all TV viewing records for the show.

Look at the facts. Palin has more experience than Obama. This is why Obama could not answer the question in debate #3 about Palin as President someday. He could not answer the question. She has more on him.

I an soooooo dissapointed in SNL – I will NOT be watching the show on Saturday Night – I am just flabergasted that there are people out there that think she is worthy of the second highest office in this country – she is NO role model for me or my daughter – she has divided this country and made a mockery of democrocy – she is a scary, scary person! Shame on you SNL !!!!!
