No mention of North Carolina early voting from Palin

Palin stumped in traditionally-red North Carolina Thursday

ELON, North Carolina (CNN) - Thursday marked the first day of early voting in North Carolina, a state unaccustomed to being in the political spotlight this late in a presidential election year.

But at an afternoon rally at Elon University near Greensboro, Republican Sarah Palin did not offer her supporters even the gentlest reminder that early voting - an opportunity both parties are working to take advantage of - is now underway at nearly 400 sites across the battleground state. Long lines at one-stop voting locations have been reported throughout North Carolina.

She did, however, mention the 85 degree heat.

“Thank you all for that very, very warm welcome to beautiful North Carolina, and it is warm,” she said. “Man, this Alaskan gal is … I’m roasting. This feels really good.”

Palin’s speech lasted only about 20 minutes, and was an abbreviated version of the remarks she delivered this morning in Maine: a brisk run-through of her ticket’s beliefs and platforms, including a one-line promise to protect Second Amendment rights.

In fact, the audience spent more time with country singer Hank Williams, Jr., who donned a Carolina Panthers jersey and warmed up the already warm crowd for about 45 minutes before Palin arrived on a local version of the Straight Talk Express along with North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr.

Near the end of her speech, Palin pressed the audience to stand firm against accusations of negative campaigning, and told them to pay “close attention” to Barack Obama’s record.

“It’s not mean-spirited and it’s not negative campaigning when you call someone out on their record,” she said. “So don’t let anyone, don’t let them make you believe that you’re being negative or mean spirited or unpatriotic or unfair when you are asking about somebody’s record, OK?”

After the rally, Palin continued on to a fundraiser at a home in Greensboro.

Sanity Check. Why would it be a good idea to put Obama into the White House, since he is the de facto face of the party leading the most unpopular Congress in history?

    To JCB:

Are you kidding me? Are you that clueless to think Obama can use his campaign money to just give to the government? Its not HIS money. If you want to talk about someone having millions of money to "donate", look no further than the one you are voting for..McCain. And if your decision to vote for McCain is because of this article, then its no wonder our country is in the state it is in...people like you that vote for a candidate for superficial reasons. Give us all a break.

So Palin was in the "northwest" this morning in Maine and now down in Carolina with Hankie Williams.
Yo Sarah, Maine is in the northeast portioin of the lower 48. It's in a section called New England, but be careful - New England does NOT give you foreign policy experience.
November 5th, the day the Poodle with lipstick has to go back to Alaska and face the music that she DID violate ethics in her state.
This "sir" has read the report and I read that Finding #1 states that you abused your power to settle a personal grudge.
And in the spirit of your statement, Palin, we are questioning your record and your husband's record with the AIP. We're doing our patriotic duty of making sure you are never in a position of power at the federal level. Back to Alaska with ya now....Mush, mush.

dang.... ONE time McCain calls someone on the absolutely ignorant things that both he and Palin usually simply ignore, which is the same as condoning the behavior! He just sounded desperate last night trying to cover his backside over that one!

And the "health issues" for pregnant women... now that was truly disgusting. Palin is an extremist, McCain chose her for his running mate. That makes him an extremist! Actually, what I think it makes him is trying to butter both sides of the bread. But he covered that up quickly enough.

    Obama looked and sounded Presidential.

If Obama wins the election, he will have a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress. If nothing happens, or if things get worse, I will be interested to see what his supporter's comments will be then. Obama is a product of the Chicago political machine, and I have yet to see anything good come out of that. I'm not saying that McCain is a great choice for president, but I believe he is a better than choice than the paper candidate the Democrats have running now. The last time a party stuck by a candidate like this, we were stuck with George W. Bush. It now appears that the Democrats are going to make the same mistake. It's time to stop electing leaders in the selfish manner we are now, and to start electing leaders based on what they will do for the good of the country. Until we do that, we will never get out of the mess we are in now.

I agree that Obama's record is up for discussion – in fact, so does the Obama campaign and the Democratic Party. I fail to see what ACORN, Ayers, and Rev. Wright has even tangentally to do with his record, though – unless he voted on legislation having to do with them (he didn't), or he led one of their organizations (he didn't), or he wrote one of his theses on one of them (he didn't – in fact, his undergrad thesis was on nuclear nonproliferation).

In other words, my Republican friends, that dog just don't hunt. Good luck with coming up with something new in the next 18 days.

PS: It turns out that Joe the Plumber is not a licensed plumber, failed to pay over $1,000 in owed taxes, and may be related to Charles Keating – so 'that one' won't work, either.

May I suggest that McCain donate one of those 9 houses or 13 cars to people who really need it? He has campaign money he could also donate that to the foods banks as you suggested.
    How socialist of you?
I can't wait till Monday to vote for Obama/Biden.

Even the medical records, McCain gave a ton of records.
Ya, he allowed access to 1500 pages for 3 hours. That means you had to review 8 pages every minute in order to read the whole thing. Why not genuinely release them for actual, detail review? Especially when Palin could become the next Pres. if McCain is ill.

KTT-Your posts have been dismissed as false on other blogs. Why do you continue to print them? Factcheck.org has looked at Obama's official birth certificate in Hawaii. It is real and authentic.

Philip J Berg is a crank who files baseless lawsuits. More right wing lies at work.

Jerad-this is what Obama supporters call "attacks". It is not real-like Obama being Muslim or a socialist or the other ridiculous spin I see. Want to oppose Obama? Fine, oppose his policies and give facts, not RNC talking points and right wing lies.

Registered Republican single mom here – work hard, pay ALL my bills – but Mrs. Palin frightens me to death – I am deadly serious. Makes me ashamed she is a woman!

Not going to sign off with who I will vote for – and I WILL vote – but cannot vote for this woman – my daughters will no longer be able to get birth control, no longer be able to stand up for Roe vs. Wade AND if this woman is elected, we will probably ALL be subject the government spying on us, the general population (or at least, more than they do currently!)

Maybe she can talk more about domestic terrorists, like her husband who was a member of a party that wants to secede from the union, and who's founder stated that he did not want to be buried under an American flag. He stated that at the 2004 convention in Alaska, where Sarah, the terrorist's spouse, was present. Look it up.

Lieberman: McCain is 'on the road to victory'...Sen. Lieberman like Sen. McCain is in their senior moments. Sen. Lieberman if you are really a friend of Sen. McCain you have to tell him the truth that it is done. You're not gonna win this election because on every debate you are an angry man. You have to be truthful at least to a "friend".

Sorry to say but in my humble opinion, Sarah Palin is not qualified to be vice president of the United States. McCain did not consider the American people when making his decision to pick her to be his running mate. Very irresponsible and another example that he would do anything to win. Where is his love for America that he continues to preach? He should have chosen someone strong and smart to help his cause and push his beloved country to a new & better direction. Got to stop playing with the lives of people and get serious!

    Know the truth:

Give me a break. Who's withholding information? Who refused to testify in Troopergate? Who won't disclose that the contractors who built her home also got the contract for the Wasilla sports stadium? Coincidence? I don't think so. Why won't she talk about her tanning bed? Who paid for it? The citizens of Alaska? Sarah Palin is the queen of nondisclosure. Heck, she won't even talk to the legitimate media!

Palin is a lying, hatemongering, racist, who knows darn well she's inciting her crowds to yell out things like "kill him" about Obama, then refuses to repudiate such remarks. She can't run on her own merits, so she just tries to sling mud at Obama.

Luckily, the American people are smarter than that (except for her adoring lap dogs, like you, Know). Sarah, go back to Alaska and face the mess you've caused there. I think there are some villagers with torches and pitchforks waiting for you.
