No mention of North Carolina early voting from Palin

Palin stumped in traditionally-red North Carolina Thursday

ELON, North Carolina (CNN) – Thursday marked the first day of early voting in North Carolina, a state unaccustomed to being in the political spotlight this late in a presidential election year.

But at an afternoon rally at Elon University near Greensboro, Republican Sarah Palin did not offer her supporters even the gentlest reminder that early voting - an opportunity both parties are working to take advantage of - is now underway at nearly 400 sites across the battleground state. Long lines at one-stop voting locations have been reported throughout North Carolina.

She did, however, mention the 85 degree heat.

“Thank you all for that very, very warm welcome to beautiful North Carolina, and it is warm,” she said. “Man, this Alaskan gal is … I’m roasting. This feels really good.”

Palin’s speech lasted only about 20 minutes, and was an abbreviated version of the remarks she delivered this morning in Maine: a brisk run-through of her ticket’s beliefs and platforms, including a one-line promise to protect Second Amendment rights.

In fact, the audience spent more time with country singer Hank Williams, Jr., who donned a Carolina Panthers jersey and warmed up the already warm crowd for about 45 minutes before Palin arrived on a local version of the Straight Talk Express along with North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr.

Near the end of her speech, Palin pressed the audience to stand firm against accusations of negative campaigning, and told them to pay “close attention” to Barack Obama’s record.

“It’s not mean-spirited and it’s not negative campaigning when you call someone out on their record,” she said. “So don’t let anyone, don’t let them make you believe that you’re being negative or mean spirited or unpatriotic or unfair when you are asking about somebody’s record, OK?”

After the rally, Palin continued on to a fundraiser at a home in Greensboro.

Garrison Keillor said it well: "It was dishonest, cynical men who put forward a clueless young woman for national office, hoping to juice up the ticket, hoping she could skate through two months of chaperoned campaigning, but the truth emerges: The lady is talking freely about matters she has never thought about. The American people have an ear for B.S. They can tell when someone's mouth is moving and the clutch is not engaged. "

    Beth, NY said ...

If not, she'll return in 2012 as the Presidential candidate and bury
Obama as she will not have McCain as an albatross around her neck—

What an interesting piece of spin! First time I have heard McCain being called the albatross!

On top the spin on McCain the albratross, my head is spinning with the idea, as Beth thinks, "she'll return in 2012 as the Presidential candidate and bury Obama"

Please, ha ha ha, make her stop, I can't stand it!

    2nd Amendment Rights~?

The economy is in melt down and Palin promises to protect the right to own weapons- I guess that's the only thing she know anything about. After all there may be a moose in North Carolina.

Look at the open letter from Brigitte Bardot to Sarah Paulin(AFP).
I do not agree with all the ideas of Mme Bardot but her open letter to
Paulin represents the opinion of many women in the US and around the world. She is a disgrace for all women and for all animal protectors.

Some say Gov. Palin should answer tough questions:
The GOP can't afford for Sarah to interview with a "real" network.
It would make things worse for Sen. McCain-if that is possible, which I doubt. Why is no one calling Sen. McCain on the carpet for trying to portray himself as the "victim" regarding John Lewis?
    Scandalous!!!
    Why are we such cowards?
How come no one is admitting we are sick & tired of hearing Sen, McCain milk to death how he has served his country & was a POW?
That's the chance you take when you enlist...duh!

Not all from AK agree with Palin's politics. Not all women agree with Palin's politics. As an Alaskan woman, I can tell you that it's absolutely disheartening that she is taking such ugliness while pretending it's of any substance at all. How are women ever going to continue to move forward with Ms. Palin spewing her feeling-movtivated statements when she doesn't even seem to know what she doesn't know. I'd have far more respect for her if she would simply admit what she doesn't know and show any kind of willingness to learn something – anything about the political position she seems to want. She cannot simply pretend her way into being vice president! Shame on her for trying to convince people that she can do the job.

The issue with Palin is that nothing she says has any substance. John Mccain said he would increase funding on autism then said that Obama wanted to spend money when he said we had to use a scalpel to cut rather than a hatchet so that type of funding was not cut. Sarah Palins child has Down Syndrome not Autism yet John Mccain kept saying she was experienced to be Vice President because she a child with disabilities. What a bunch of hooey my son grew up with disabilities I dont think that qualifies me to possibly be the President of the United States.
