Obama does not want his supporters to get too comfortable with his recent lead in the polls.

NEW YORK (CNN) – He may hold the edge in most polls with just 19 days to go, but Barack Obama can’t relax, pointing to the ghosts of election nights past.

“For those of you who are feeling giddy or cocky and think this is all set, I just say one word - I guess it’s two words for you - New Hampshire,” Obama told a high-dollar fundraiser crowd in Manhattan, referencing his loss to Hillary Clinton in January’s primary. “I’ve been in these positions before where we are favored and the press starts getting carried away and we end up getting spanked … and so we want to make sure we are closing strong, right through the tape.”

The morning after the last presidential debate, Obama displayed a mix of wistfulness and humor about one part of the political process coming to an end.

“We had a fun night last night. I’m deeply sad that after 26 debates we have no more debates,” he said to laughter. “I was hoping to have several more.”

At a breakfast that pulled in at least $3.6 million for the Obama Victory Fund, the Democratic nominee said “we are now 19 days not from the end but from the beginning,” emphasizing the amount of work and the number of challenges the next president will face. He asked those in attendance for more help going forward.

“I’m going to need all of you in that process not just for campaign support and financial support. Once we’re done there’s extraordinary expertise in this room ,and we’re going to need good advice and who knows there might even be some of you who decide that you want to spend a little time in government, and we’re going to need people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and make sure that Washington and Wall Street and the country as a whole are working in ways that leave a better future for our children,” he said.

Obama is exactly right. He may be as high as 14 pts ahead, but we need to act like we're 40 points behind. We only have two and a half weeks to go and this will be all over.

He made some remark about something that could be on line as if he was so wise and its already on there.

That comment about woman was absolutely downgrading for woman .........Mccain hates woman and seems to think they are only good for one thing for getting them pregnant then having a child regardless of how the sperm arrived there .

Jerry Atrick   October 16th, 2008 4:06 pm ET

No Susan, he is just warning us not to be too complacent. No matter what the polls say, this is going to be quite a race despite the fact that Sen. Obama by far the better candidate. The problem he faces are not worth spelling out here but I am sure you can read between the lines.

TOUNGES ARE BEGINNING TO WAG. TURNS OUT GOOD 'OLE "JOETHE PLUMBER" WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A REPUBLICAN PLANT!

LAME JOHN, VERY, VERY LAME! SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE!
—————————————————————–

McCain did Joe the Plumber no favors.
Thu Oct 16, 2:27 PM ET

You knew it would happen. Joe the Plumber's 15 minutes of fame in last night's debate have turned into a round of public humiliation for the wannabe business owner. The Toledo Blade is reporting that Joe has no plumber's license.

To make matters worse, the Blade also found that the Ohio Department of Taxation placed a lien against Joe because $1,183 in personal property taxes had not been paid. To pile on, the paper disclosed, based on divorce records, Joe's 2006 income — $40,000, hardly enough to qualify for the tax hike he's so concerned about.

Peggy   October 16th, 2008 4:04 pm ET

Melissa: You are so correct. Just can't trust those Republicans.
Did anyone else notice last night when asked who thought their VP would make a good president Obama proudly said that Biden would make a great President but McCain said Pailin makes a good partner! Maybe this is just another Republican ploy but they have no intention of her being a serious contender for anything.Maybe that was a definite ploy to get the women votes that seriously backfired!

carol   October 16th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

No, we can't get too comfortable....we need to press on to very end and make this election one for the history books in more ways than one.
All of us need to vote early and make sure our vote is counted.....we don't want another repeat of 2004 with Bush!!!!!
Sen Obama has had a wonderful, clean, organized campaign and he deserves to win in Nov....we are all trying our best in any small way to make sure of that.....this country cannot afford otherwise.
I am a very excited and proud 56 year old white lady from the Panhandle in Florida to have helped in some small way to help Sen Obama win this Nov.
It's hard work down here believe you me, but there are a lot more Dems than we thought and that is great.....we'll keep trying and get the right man in the White House.

Out here in the hinterlands of South Dakota, the Democrats like to get the vote out and make all kinds of promises to the Indians, Blacks and Hispanics and then once the election is over, its "good Bye Sucker". They use them and lose them and then the "born every 12 seconds suckers" are standing in line next election ready for more.

Manny   October 16th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

Obama cocky? NAH!

How about his Presidential Seal unveiled in June of 2008!

Who can forget his Summer 2008 Presidential World Tour through the Middle East and Europe which included a rally before 200,000 adoring fans in Germany!

(Don't forget that it was his desire to hold that rally at the Brandenburg Gate!
German Chancellor Merkel voiced "great skepticism as to whether it is appropriate to bring an election campaign being fought not in Germany but in the United States to the Brandenburg Gate."
Steg, a spokesperson for Merkel said that "no German (chancellor) candidate would think of using (Washington's) National Mall or Red Square in Moscow for rallies, because it would be considered inappropriate.")

Obama's acceptance speech to 80,000 fans at the Temple of Obama in Denver;s Mile High Stadium!

His moving van suspiciously parked in front of the White House for the last 18 months!

Nah! Obama's not cocky!

Accountant Guy   October 16th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

He is right, we have to fight until the election and we have to be sure we show up at the polls and get Obama and Biden in the white house!!

I'm trying, Barack, I really am. I'm trying not to be cocky, but every now and then, going through my day, I get a giggly feeling that must be "cocky" since I've been married for 20 years so I know it's not the honeymoon giggle! In 2004, I was the only car in my small town to have a "Kerry" sticker. My "neighbors" immediately put up Bush yard signs and put BIGGER bumper stickers on their cars. The night of the election, one of my "neighbors" set off firecrackers in my driveway. Oh, you have no idea how bad I want to BLAST "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" — I even have speakers ready to go out on my porch!

j   October 16th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

I'm planning to volunteer to help campagin for Obama – that's how much I trust the polls. I've already voted, but I'd like to make sure all the people that want to see Obama in the White House, get out and vote, too.

bigl7855   October 16th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

Joe the plumber is right! Redistribution of wealth is Socialism at its finest.. Hey you liberals, how is Comrade Obama going to pay for all of his plans? Don't you realize we are already broke? Increasing spending is not the answer!

Jack   October 16th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Barack all the way. I don't understand why anyone will vote for McSame and Gov. Stal-en. Her voice is driving me crazy and it is cracking my windows. She is sooo fake, and talk too much trash, but yet she seems to avoid all the tough questions. Please go back to Alaska where you came from. John McSame tried to put Barack on Defense and couldn't get the job down, so he showed his true colors. I can't see why anyone would want to vote for him. Conservatives are "clueless"!!!!

Ex-Republican for Obama   October 16th, 2008 3:50 pm ET

I love how we have done in the past eight years. We are completely in great shape. I think all of our spending and excess and still being in Iraq is fabulous. I think McCain will help continue this monumental up turn that americans are experiencing right now.

Sarah is the smartest person in the world and she has loads of foreign experience. She is so honest and virtuous with so much wisdom from all of her schools and beauty pageants. She has Todd to help her run the country if by chance she has to step in to replace John.

John was a POW...he is a complete success. He managed to crash five planes, successfully living every time he crashed them. He successfully denied me better veterans benefits and he successfully left his disfigured wife and family for an adultress (he succesfully cheated on his wife even before divorcing her). He successfully ran a campaign as promised, not to go negative but to keep it to the 'straight talk'. He successfully avoided prison in regards to the Keating Five and he successfully voted with the best president ever, George W. Bush.

I'm voting McCain because he is so great and our country is in such great shape from the policies he has supported his entire career.

Samantha   October 16th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Why not get cocky?

We've worked HARD to win this election and we need to spend some time celebrating!

I've seen a little extra swagger in Obama's walk in the last few weeks – he's definitely having fun like he's back in the hood.

CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES!

Listen world the republicans have been terrorizing not only this country but the entire world for years. I always find it interesting that a bomb goes off, symbolically or literally, every time republican power is challenged. I am not nuts and I'm no conspiracy buff but dam I cringe when ever I hear a progressive victory is attained because I feel like a deafening explosion is about to be heard. Not to say that democrats are always right either because I experienced Cook County politics and Chicago Machine tactics and sometimes the under vocalized people are shoved out of the way by their own humbleness. I hope and pray that this countries next leader has the wisdom and courage to base his decisions on truth and that relatively short document called the BILL OF RIGHTS.

You folks who are screaming about the tax rate going back up to what, 38% vs 35% give or take a percent...is that the only thing you're concerned about this election? Not trying to brag, but my wife and I make just south of $250,000 a year. Are we hurting right now, no. Could we afford to pay a little more taxes (let me rephrase that), go back to the original tax before the Bush cut, yes. The super rich will find more ways to shuffle and hide their money so it probably won't affect them anyway. I'm sorry, if you're making millions of dollars a year more power to you, but don't come crying to me about having to pay more taxes.

Mark, Cleveland Ohio   October 16th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

as opposed to Sarah, who's been known to "get cocky".

Elvera   October 16th, 2008 3:15 pm ET

Give me a break, fighter McCain! This is Sen. Clinton’s line, you stole it! You have no honor or decency.
McCAIN – UNSTABLE; PALIN – UNABLE. Exactly!
I support one of the comments: ‘It is regrettable that many of the people supporting McCain are doing so not because he may be the best candidate, but because they do not want a non-white as President of the United States. It seems that it is more important to maintain a racially pure "White" house than to have the best man for the job as president. Do we want America that practices what it preaches or America that wants every other nation in the world to do the right thing, but not us?’
Another one: ‘It is worth to note the following excerpt from Senator McCain's Book – "Worth the Fighting For: A Memoir" (2002)

"I didn't decide to run for President to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be President because it had become my ambition to be President. I was sixty-two years old when I made the decision and I thought it was my one shot at the prize."

Rob R   October 16th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

We need to realize that the score is really 0-0 until the votes are counted on Nov 4. So it doesn't matter if Obama is up by 2 or 20. It's the VOTES that count and you know the Republicans are trying to supress voting anyway they can – so please don't think you can just sit back and figure that everyone else will go out and vote.

Remember, Gore lost Florida by 537 when the recount was stopped. 537! Imagine where we would be if only 537 additional Floridians had gone out and voted in 2000.

Obama and his supporters should fight hard right up to and during Election Day. Obama has shown a tireless willingness to fight hard and not rely on polls. This is good advice to his supporters. In an election as unique as this one, no one should demonstrate cocky behavior!

Obama supporters must get out and vote and get their friends and family to vote! Support is not enough. Obama needs a clear and convincing victory!

Barack Obama is the biggest dud of a liar we have seen in Illinois. People will be so sorry if and when he gets into office. He'll be connected to all kinds of losers both domestic and foreign. He couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it.

John S   October 16th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

I can't fathom why some people who would make 250 thousand or more in personel taxes would complain about paying more taxes for the profit he's making. If your making that much, I congradulate you on your success. The increase for your wealth is about 2, no more than 3% tax increase. I owned and ran a business and made a great living. I probably paid less taxes than someone making 50 to 60 thousand dollars a year. Now,how on earth should that be equal. What gives anyone the right, to get out of paying their fair share in taxes according to their income.

Sen. Obama is right. The day for celebrating is November 5, 2008. Right now is the time to roll up ouir sleeves and make sure that everyone who wants to votes, does. That is our Republic at work. Listen, it was a huge relief for me to see the debate sign off. My stomach has churned the last week , seeing if the nation was in for a huge cultural revolution that may spill into violence. Republicans are beginning to see the writing on the wall, and know that their time in power is coming to a close. Next year, the Democrats will probably finish up hearings on the corruption and unfortunately, we will have found that many of the Republican representatives milked the system including our present Executive Branch of the government. Rethugs will be going to jail. It's no wonder there is general panic for Republican "talking heads'.

Rache from Bowie   October 16th, 2008 3:00 pm ET

This is too important not to vote for the smart kid from the world's best university. Number 894 has $100M rainy day fund. He seriously could not care about Americans–he's all rhetoric. His real downfall–palin. God love her but she's dumber than a brick. A true puppet and honestly quite klanish lately.

Betty   October 16th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

Lawyer – so, you're more concerned with the $10 extra a month you'll pay in taxes than the $10 billion a month that the country is paying to stay in Iraq, paid for by borrowing from the Chinese?? At the rate we're going you won't have to worry about "redistribution of wealth" because the US will belong to China!!

Nita in Virginia   October 16th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

OMABA NEEDS OUR CONTINUED SUPPORT! PRAY FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY, PRAY THAT AMERICANS LIVE TO SEE A BETTER TOMORROW. And let me just say if you're rich and your taxes increase, that just means you would have to buy 8 cars instead of 10, or 5 homes instead of 8. I think you all can make that sacrifice for the good of the country.

Under the agreement we now give the USA first choice buying our oil , but we will gladly sell to Russia at a higher price . I guess Obama thinks he is running for office in the 90's when the US had lots of power and a voice in the world .

Funny how after the Bush tax cuts, tax revenues increased 10% per year or more from 2003 to 2006 and the rich ended up paying a greater share of the total tax burden. Bush's problem is that he did nothing to control spending. Obama's proposals will likely slow total tax revenues and cut the percentage the rich pay. Then how's he going to finance all his increased spending.

Contrary to the static accounting rules that are mandated when discussing tax legislation, people really do alter behaviors based on tax rates. I guess Obama has yet to learn this elementary econimc fact. And yet he'll deal with the complex crisi we now face. Oooookay.

Lawyer,

At $260K a year you have been blessed. No one is saying that you should not be allowed to make this money but, as a part of the American society, we all have a responsibility to keep the country strong. Unfortunately, that requires money and taxes.

So, your contribution helps to strengthen the bridge you drive over, or it helps to keep up the school your kids go to, or it helps to fund all of the other services that you may some day need.Isn't investing in this country what we should all do? Are you being asked to do more than others? Sometimes those with more are asked to give more.

McCain is correct, he's not George Bush.
Amazingly, he is worse.

Frankly, as a fmr. Rep., it shocks me that some Dems still won't vote because of the Hillary thing-I guess those people are as bitter as old man McCain.

Lawyer: As a card carrying Liberal supporting Obama, maybe I can answer your question.

If you have a pile of money – whether through hard work, blind luck or outright theft – you're enttiled to do whatever you want with it. It's a free country, not a socialist one. No one is coming to take away your time share condo under Obama's tax plan. If you're rich now, you'll still be rich 4 years from now.

That said, we all have an obligation to help out, give back or attempt to lift up those around us who aren't so fortunate. People living paycheck to paycheck are not lazy. Most of them could use a little help shouldering the burden you may completely take for granted.

First ACORN, now Ohio (as reported by CNN) and probably soon other Voter Fraud and Irregularities being tied to the Democrats and Obama – you definately shouldn't get cocky.

Remember try to use different writing styles when filling out multiple registration cards. Remember not to use famous or obviously fictious names. Remember to spread the cards to different places like he plans to spread the wealth.

And most important don't get cocky or you may get caught.

Cynthia; Bham   October 16th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

I agree with Senator Obama. Everything looks very good for his campaign but you never know. He and all of his supporters just need to stay focused and get his message out there – because Lord knows McCain is trying very hard to murk it up with all that nonsense he is talking.

J   October 16th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

isn't it funny that Obama talked last night about helping everyone get to college if they wanted to - helping them to get the loans they needed. Why bothering going to college and make a good living - Obama will just take it away.............Obama's argument last night was that Warren Buffet can afford to pay more and that Obama said he can pay more - but Mr. Buffet and Mr. Obama don't make $250,000 a year! They make much more than that! I worked my way through college - and started with a job making $20,000 a year. I spent the next 20 years working 12 hour + days, working any day of the week, any hour of the day that I was asked and have relocated my family for additional opportunities - I'm not complaining - that was my choice. My choice because I knew there were rewards, including financial rewards. And because I hit goals and because I'm accomplished, yes, I'm lucky enough to be at the threshold Mr. Obama talks about. But - in order to stay there - I have to continue working long hours and working hard. The notion that the only people that are working in America are those making less is insulting!! People at $250,000 are fortunate but we're not fitted with silver spoons - we work too!....I give to charities, food shelters, we've adopted-a-solider in Iraq - we choose to take care of people in need. If Obama's tax plan goes through - I can no longer do that because after the government takes a greater share - I won't be in a position to do participate in charities like I do today. I will no longer be able to save to send my children to college. And guess what - I too will lose my home - because more of my hard earned money will go to taxes. People seem to forget - those that make more already pay more - we are already (to use Biden's words) Patriotic. We are already in a higher tax bracket. It is so un-American to think that people are buying into the notion that those that succeed will be penalized. I'm an independent - but very much in support of McCain right now.

Biff   October 16th, 2008 2:18 pm ET

I keep hearing about this wealth re-distribution.

do any of you 95%ers who make LESS than $250k not need any of it?

does anyone know that the republiCONs have already RE-distributed the wealth from the 90's when we were ALL doing better?
do you know that all Obama is proposing is that the tax codes go BACK to that timeframe?? they gave the wealthy a tax break. can't we take it back???

Jeanette I am a small buisness owner and our company makes over 250. a year and I am worried about Obama's tax plan to especially the payroll tax increase. As far as a plant maybe all those people there that were asking questions and shaking Obama's hand were plants to. This is a real concern for people who are taking the plunge on buying a small buisness or operate one now.

Only Bob Barr would reduce government spending

"Anytime, Anywhere" I believe were your words.

ann   October 16th, 2008 2:03 pm ET

I am a so call African American thats what society betrays me as. But I consider myself as a Black American. Why because I don't have a country in Africa to identify with. If a person is born in America as a Nigerian he or she would be consider a Nigerian American. A person that is born in America Hatian they are consdier Hatian American. A person born in Kenya would also be the same etc. Every contient in Africa has many countries to identiy each person where they are from. The same with Europeans and Asian. A Japanese person will not be the same as a Chinese even though they are both Asian. A nation from France will not be consider as an Italian even though they are both white. My point I am making is that Obama is half Kenyan and white. He will not be the first African American President he would be the first Kenya and white president. Kenyanian does not have the same heritage nor culture black Americans have. Look on the internet under Kenya and see how all the kenyians are celebrating Obama victory. No other country in Africa is celebrating his success because every nation is different. His father did not come from the same lineage of nor heritage of slavery descented. His father does not have the same experience that black America has for over 400 years. I speak to different black nations and they will be the first to say we are not the same. I agree. So for Obama to deceive Black American for his political gain is insulting. Some African American are very ignorant when it comes to their identity. Look on the internet and see how different black nation try to degraded black Americans or African American. Obama should tell the truth about his idenity. Also he is just as white as he is black. He is a intelligent person but is not being truthful.

Now we realize that it is not the color of skin, but all about the determination, the resolution, the confidence and optimism that we need desperately for our future. And all these exist in Obama's heart and head.

Cheers for the Winner.

It's good for you because Sen. Obama is going take some of your $$$ and use it to further things that are far past neglected in this country in which you participate. Public roads, do you use them? Public schools, do you use them and would you like them to get better? Bridges, I'm sure you'd like to use those safely and so on and so forth. If we put OUR people back to work with OUR money we can jump-start things with the country. We NEED to raise, we are so underfunded on so many things, this country's going to fall apart in the next 10-20 years if we don't start doing something about it NOW!

I don't think the problem is that the wealthy do not want to help others. In fact, I would wager that the wealthy help others quite a bit through charitable donations. It's this "fair share" notion that I find questionable. What exactly is someone's "fair" share?

Is there a magic number? Are we taking into account all the money that people give to helping others through charity, or are we just basing it on taxes? True, the wealthy may pay a lower percentage in taxes, but how much have they contributed above and beyond that to programs that help people? Doesn't that count as doing their "fair share"?

arlene, CA   October 16th, 2008 1:50 pm ET

Obama won the debate last nite, he has won all three now. I am allready sick of the "joe the plumber" line. Obama was cool, calm, collected, intelligent & very presidential. McCain looked angry, blinking all the time, had his lips all pinched together looking very hateful. I have allready voted by mail. Obama /Biden

Funny!   October 16th, 2008 1:49 pm ET

When Hillary wanted more debates with Obama at the end of the primary, Obama said no – saying they'd had enough.

After Obama's primary win, he said he was ready to debate McCain "anytime, anyplace".

But when McCain tried to schedule townhall debates all summer with Obama, Obama said no.

Now that the presidential debates are over, Obama says he will miss them and that he hoped there would be a few more.

Conclusion: Obama is a cocky windbag.

If someone could explain to me how that is good for me I would appreciate it. Is this part of the proposed "Redistribution Plan" that Obama is seeking and I wonder if we can just start up a program "Adopt a Liberal" and just send them a check once a month or buy there groceries for them. Kind of like the program (Sally Strothers) to feed a starving African Child for pennies a day.

=================

This is my 2 cents worth. What I am hearing is that you in effect want to milk the cow, but are upset because you are now being asked to feed the cow. You are being asked to pay your fair share of your income – not your savings, only your income – to help the federal Government perform its role effectively. No one is asking you to not take those regular wild Las Vegas trips or to not buy that enormous empty house or to not drive that sexy red car or to dip into your bank account; he is only asking that you contribute your fair share of the cream you reap from your fellow Americans to go back into the American community, the same community that I hope is a significant part of your life and is in fact the likely major source of your income. You directly benefit by the Federal Government keeping that greater community healthy and prosperous.

People that are complaining about tax increase go educate yourselves about govt system. Without tax increase how do you expect gov't to pay for things, that's the only way to have proper services. Geez because of such close minded ideas that why America is sufferring right now. So we will take our socialist gov't over the American one any day, there is nothing wrong with income redistribution that how gov't is able to pay for services.

What an interesting man Obama will be for America. He will actually UPDATE america to the 21st century. Much needed update!!! I mean America was one of the countries to pioneer industrialization and now its all changed because of not keepin pace with the rest of the world. And I don't think McCain will have the 'tools' -I mean intelligence and yes eloquence and people skills to do it. Obama is the man for America of today. Too bad he will have a difficult time doing it bcuz of the last 8 years.

Mike in Columbus   October 16th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Regarding Joe the Plumber...

"I want to set the record straight: Currently I would not fall into Barack Obama's $250,000-plus"

That's HIS quote. Everyone conservatives and liberals alike should go and read the fact check on Joe the Plumber's taxes.

In fact, conservatives, I dare you to go read it... I bet most of you are actually scared of the truth.

Tony   October 16th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

To Shane LBC... basic concept here so listen up:

Wealth distribution enforces a status quo. And your little lesson is flawed at best. If Joe the Plumber's customer are as prosperous as he is, THEY get screwed with high taxes, too. Jeez, do hippie put more than 30 seconds of thought into a stance ever, or are they only capable of reading off pamphlets handed out to them on the bus ride to the protest?

Funny how liberals think it's wrong to legislate morality, EXCEPT when it comes to wealth distribution. Instead of expecting Joe the Plumber to distribute his own wealth via new jobs and charity, the government should take that money away and decide for itself - without your consent - who to give it to.

Yours Truly   October 16th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

I DEFINITELY AGREE! We cannot get cocky right now regardless of what reason you may want to give (Bradley effect or whatever), the only poll that matters is the one that will be presented after Nov. 4th. What that means is that we should stop being lazy bums and stop complaining about the economy and the world. Let's be proactive and choose the best candidate who will lead us into prosperous times. If you can hear me, say it loud and proud:

OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA, OBAMA

Yes we can America, Yes we can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Lawyer.

The main reason for the tax cut (from 36% to 33%) was to give the wealthier incentive to employ more workers – trickle down theory. My question to you is – in the last 7 years, how many MORE people have you employed at your firm?

Obama is right. Now is not the time to drop the ball. We have to keep pounding away for 19 more days. Don't put anything past these Repugs. They may pull some lie out of a hat a day or two before the election. Unfortunately, there are always people who will believe any crap that is handed to them. I am so tired of hearing about his birth certificate. For heaven's sake. That birth certificate has been on his web site since the beginning of his campaign and has undergone more scrutiny than anything. Get over it you unbelievers. He was born in Hawaii and Hawaii was a state.

VDAL   October 16th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Lawyer,

The choices are very clear.

if you make 260K a year , you are probably in the upper 2%. If you still expect a immediate reduction in taxes- John Mccain in your man. Please vote for him and Sarah

If you want to see the country moving foreward in a new direction with proper infrastructure developments and investment in your children's future- then you should probably look beyond the immdeiate tax benefit and consider Obama for President.

U.S.A. cannot afford a hot tempered person like John McCain as president. Other countries could feel threatened by him. He is always saying fight fight. Seems like this is his trait. Could this be why he is staying in Iraq. He seems cold and calculating (like Putin) and very scarey. Good luck to the Americans if he becomes your president.

wendydk   October 16th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

LAWYER:

Yes, your taxes might go up about 3%. As a small business owner, I'm in the same tax bracket as you are, but I realize that "Freedom is not Free".

I wonder how you think this huge deficit will be paid for, if not for higher taxes? You can cut until you bleed, and never make up that kind of money...not without higher revenues too.

Perhaps those who agree with our involvement in Iraq and corporate tax cuts in the billions could pay that portion of the deficit, and those of us who believe in caring for our society as a whole (which includes some entitlements) could pay that portion. I wonder who would pay more, and who would do more good?

Again, 'FREEDOM IS NOT FREE". You cannot be willing to sacrifice the lives of children on the battlefield, and not be willing to pay some higher taxes for the betterment of our country. I guarantee that alot of people in the world would love to be in your position, even if it meant paying 50% more in taxes, much less 3% more.

New Day   October 16th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Lawyer – I'm sure you can weasel your way under 250K without too much trouble. Just make up some fake expenses or deductions. I mean, you're a lawyer, abusing the system is what you guys do.

Lets be clear people, its not earning 250K. Its having 250K taxable income.

let me give you an example: I make 50K but, by the time they deduct the pre-tax 401K contribution, health insurance and life insurance, my taxable income is closer to 38K. Then, when I file my taxes, I get to deduct medical, dental, and mortgage interest and my personal exemption so that my taxable income is about 25K.

So, if I was able to make my taxable income half of what my gross income is, imagine what Mr Lawyer can do.

Go cry to someone that cares, Lawyer.

Tony   October 16th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Too late, Obama. Your mindless drones are cocky and as stupid as ever, but that's what you get for going for the low-brow vote. Half of them are coming on here saying they've already voted, like voting early makes it count as two votes or something. Can you explain where the fairness is in that? I'm not looking for a hand out I just need a little relief so I'm not struggling to make ends meet at the end of each month which is what Sen. Obama is proposing.

Most people making that kind of money can't imagine ever being held to a higher standard because of the Bush/McCain policies that allow them to keep on taking without ever giving back.

People don't be fooled by McCain he isn't for the "regular working person" he is for the rich and always will be. Vote Obama/Biden on Nov. 4th for a better America!

Evan,
Well said young man. I'm 49 and think the Gordon Gecko, greed is good mentality is what got us to this point.
We need to really get back to being a COUNTRY that looks out for each other.
Joe Biden is right, it IS patriotic to do what's right and pay your taxes. Pay to educate our kids, pay to improve our health care, pay to fix our health care and infrastructure.
These things don't fix themselves or pay for themselves. We need to be responsible citizens and pay our share.

MG   October 16th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

It's astonishing that McCain and Palin accuse Obama of going negative. News flash: Negative would be to dredge up the Keaing 5 issue, remind voters of McCain's and Palin's ethics violations, and remind them that Todd Palin belonged to an organization that was trying to promote Alaska's secession from the United States. Sarah was known to have spoken at some of their meetings, which looks like an endorsement to me. Sarah is the female version of that "empty suit" and we will have the pleasure of sending her back to Alaska and McCain into retirement on Mov. 4th.

I totally agree. Anything can happen, so I hesitate to say Obama has this locked. There is the mythical "Bradley Affect" that keeps coming up in the news. I sincerely doubt it will be a big dent on Election Day, even though I think it will happen in some states because honestly, there is a handful of people out there who rather have McCain/Palin run this country further into the ground then have a black man tell them what to do, i.e. have Obama as president. I surely hope our country is alot further along then that statement I just made.

I won't count out McCain either. He just might pull Bin Laden out of the basement of one of his several houses and broadcast live that he singlehandedly caught him. With all the other ridiculous rabbits McCain pulled out of his hat, that would not surprise me in the least nor change my vote.

This is for Latinos for McCain.

That's very typical of Latinos, who think that they have achieved a level of success (measured against their own people) and forget that others are struggling. Of course, Obama believes in the "American Dream." He's living proof of the success of that dream! However, he also believes that more than just the priviledge few should partake in it!

KJL   October 16th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Obama is right. People need to talk to their relatives, neighbors, friends, and everyone else who cares about the financial future and safety of this country. Get them to study the issues and vote with their heads. Obama is the only choice.

And remember, politics isn't entertainment. Just because you're WINKING it doesn't mean you're THINKING.

Laverne   October 16th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Obama is a smart man and this is further proof of how he would be as POTUS, unlike McCain and his supporter who would be super cocky if they were leading. Obama supporters please, please get out and vote. Many states have already started early voting. We can do this, YES WE CAN!

Shane LBC   October 16th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

To all you conservatives...basic concept here so listen in. In order to help yourselves you must help others. It is a simple concept. If I am Joe the Plumber making 260K. I get taxed more to hopefully spread my wealth to my customers. If my customers are struggling I don't make over 250K (I wish I made this much) and I won't get taxed. On the other hand, if my customers are prospering, then I prosper and I would love to be in the 1 million category. Yeah I get taxed more but now I make 600K plus. Gosh if only....

So for you greedy convervatives, you must understand in order to help yourself you have to help others.... Peace!

Each person who feels invested in this election - and that should be all of us writing today no matter our political affiliation - have a duty to get others to get to the polling places on election day. Americans have become complacent and maybe a teeny sliver of a silver lining in this economic chaos is that people DO feel a need to pay attention and make their vote count. Don't wait...start now to remind people that the only thing of importance at this late date is TO VOTE. I have a son in college who has that "Obama has it in the bag" attitude. That is the same son who made me pay attention to politics for the first time in my adult life by his concerns for our country. Now it is my turn to get HIM to pay attention and to show up to vote.

Chris   October 16th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

Run Through The Tape   October 16th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

A solid number of new voters and younger ( 18 to 26 year old) voters are not being reflected in the polls.

These voters will need to turn out heavily to counteract the "Wilder" effect ... recently referred to as the "Bradley" effect. Doug Wilder was the 1st African American governor of Virginia who "eeked" out a victory after polls had him up significantly over his competition.

There are some folks that are being polled who are ashamed of their bigotry and won't tell the pollsters that they won't be voting tor the more qualified candidate ... Mr. Obama. But they are not so ashamed of their predjudices as to face them like adults.

The key to victory will be TURNING OUT those YOUNGER voters. Please, if you fall in that catagory, go to the polls and take 2 friends with you.

It is our duty and our responsibility to get out there and help Obama win this election. We need to not only vote for our selves, we need to do it for this country!

Change will come but only if each of us do our part and elect Obams POTUS!

Steve A. , New Braunfels , Texas   October 16th, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Yes, it isn't over by a long shot ! One of the reasons tthe republicans win so often is that *** REPUBLICANS VOTE**** democrats seem to talk about voting but don't physicly get out and vote. This time around you better do more then talk-get out and vote. . polls don't mean nothing, look at the last two elections, the Dems were ahead in bothe of them going into the election but still lost. DEMS-GET OUT AND VOTE !

OBAMA/BIDEN 08

Ex-Republican for Obama   October 16th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Our next president is absolutely right. If we get complacent, if we take it for granted, if we feel it is in the bag and thus fail to show up and vote...then we will lose.

Here's a hard, cold fact: Whether you like them or not, Republicans do something right, that we must mimick. Republicans by and large are more dedicated to showing up when it's time to vote. Why is that? I have no clue, perhaps because they are all rich and don't have to work, perhaps because they are living off of our taxes with their tax breaks while we get none.

If we take this lead in the polls for granted, we will lose. With only 20 days to go, let's work harder now, then we have in the past. Let's not just beat McCain, let's beat him soundly and irrefutably. Let's leave no mistake about it, we are taking our country back!!

Walt   October 16th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

What we need is a landslide for Obama and 60 Democratic Senators with gains also in the House. This will finally give us the opportunity to do something that will return this country to its former glory that was destroyed by Neo-Cons, the Right Wing and the Bush/Cheney debacle supported by John McCain.

Obama says he's "deeply sad that there's no more debates"?? Well that's a lie!, McCain has challenged him to townhall meetings across this nation and Obama chickened out as pointed out last night by McCain. Obama is slick but surely doesn't have what it takes to be my President.

It still amazes me that people are so uninformed that they still believe the banking crisis is Bush's fault. Try Carter and Clinton since they forced Fannie Mae to make questionable loans.

Want more of the same, vote Obama!

Tom   October 16th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

1952 presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson, facing an uphill election battle against war hero Dwight Eisenhower, was told by an eager supporter that: "All the thinking people are behind you". Famously he replied: "Yes, but I need a majority".
Anyone who still thinks John McCain (let alone Sarah Palin!) would be a better choice than Obama-Biden is definitely not using any significant part of their cerebral process. But happily, it looks like this year the thinking people are for once in the majority.

Barack is a very, very smart man. He knows he cannot take this lead for granted. He needs a landslide to prove to everyone that he has the support of the majority of Americans – Red, White and Blue – Dems, Rep, and independents! Not everyone will like him but that's okay, in time he will prove the skeptics wrong. He might be young, but he is about team work.

God Bless Barack and Joe. From Barack statement this morning it proves what he has been saying all these months. This is a campaign for the people and by the people. He invited the audience to participate.

I hope Nov. 4th has a turn out like none we have ever, ever, ever seen.

The world will love the US again and it's President will be a man who is revered. A man who has personality, leadership and a force (the people and military) to be reckoned with. We might have gotten the vision early (when he went to Germany) but it was a prediction of the future. The campaign was very smart!!!!

PEOPLE GO OUT, GET YOUR FRIENDS. FAMILY AND VOTE – CHANGE IS A COMING – BUT BARACK AND JOE NEEDS YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

kimberly   October 16th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

I am proud of Obama's performance in the debate last night.
However he needs to finish the job that he started.
I want him to step up his election victory camapign expeditiously so that he can command and obtain a decisive Presidential victory on November 4, 2008.
I await hearing the words, Preseident Obama. President of the Great Country USA.

Mike the Plumber   October 16th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

As an Obama supporter, I am not using the polls to his advantage. I help register over 28 people in my home town of Miami, FL. I have rented a Van and I will using my 1 vote with 28 others this year to make a difference for Obama. I will also be taking my family to the polls.

In my area, I am seeing people losing their homes, cars, and weight. One person in my area has a McCain/Palin Yard sign on a house he is about to loss. Now, his wife is a Obama supporter.

I went to his house yesterday and asked why he was supporting Senator McCain? He said someone gave him $30.00 to put the sign in his yard. He said he was voting for Bob Barr (He is a Life-Time Republican) but he cannot support Senator McCain.

I voted for Bush in 2000 and it has not worked out for me. I am not cocky I am ready to VOTE. I do not believe these polls. I think Obama is behind in my state, but I will give my everything to get Obama elected.

Evan   October 16th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

I think Joe was a plant, before the debate he was on Fox News slamming Obama's policies and everything. Plus Joe according to interviews thinks everything is socalisim, even paying into Social Security. He looks like he is late 30's early 40s meaning he is part of a generation that I (I'm 24) see all the time. Me first, don't give to others. Only on Chirstmas because that is the only time we should give. But its a ME ME ME don't take any of my money EVER! Joe was a plant, but Obama won't suggest it because he is a better man then that. If this was a question asked by someone at a rally for McCain there surrgate esspicaly that Tucker guy (can't stand him) would say "Obviously this was a ploy by the Obama campaign"

CNN, I FORGOT 3 POINTS.

MCGREEDY WANTS TO DO THE FOLLOWING,

PER HIS OWN MOUTH, IF YOU LISTEN.

1) DEREGULATE HEALTH CARE.a promise to his lobbyists
* that would do for health care what it did for financial markets.
2) TAX YOUR HEALTH CARE BENEFITS, probably put you in
* higher tax bracket.
3) PRIVATIZE MOST OF SCHOOL FUNDING.he is a tricky dickey.

Even though it looks favorable for Obama right now, these polls will tighten. Obama supporters will have to work 3 times as hard now to hold the lead, or possibly watch it dwindle by Nov. 4. In this Internet age, a whole lotta lies and smears can pursuade people in 19 days.

A Woman In California For Obama:   October 16th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

tiffany in ohio   October 16th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Joe the plumber i commend you if you ever make over 250,000 just doing plumbing, because with so many people on the diy kick you will not make that much money. On top of that spreading the wealth is not just taking money from the rich an giving it straight to the poor. We need to fix our country roads, bridges, schools, health care, military defence, creating more jobs so people don't have to depend on the government they can earn a living by working. You need money to create jobs that people desperately need that companies right now are not providing an they have low taxes now. So Joe the plumber cant make money if no one has money to spend.

If you like the last 2 years.... vote Obama   October 16th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

Way to go Obama !! .Not sure what will be the next smear tactic by the McCain camp. Don't be deceived like what happened in the final debate

RX   October 16th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

What this article fails to say, in other words...the real truth, is that as, Joe the Plumber could be in say, As an OWNER of a business, you can incorporate or be a subchapter S company or a QSub as it is known. You as an individual owner of a QSUB are liable for taxes based on profitsas if that is your income! So to say the average wage is $40K something is not telling the whole truth regarding tax liabilties to those who operate this way. and are owners as Joe the Plumber wants to be, not an employee as Biden makes him sound to be. Again...a case of the elite media distorting the facts to favor their candidate. You who believe these distortions are ignorant fools.

Doug D   October 16th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Funny how the polls are saying Obama "won" last nights debate ...
yet of the undecided voters NBC had on a panel last night only 1 said her vote would swing for Obama and THREE said their votes would now swing for McCain with 2 as yet undecided.

Seems for Democrats a tie (if you count the undecided as theirs) is as good as a win.

Unless of course it is just that the Democrats are more vocal on the polls, while the Republicans will be more "vocal" on election day.

So follow Obama's advice and don't get "cocky", because pop-stars like him have a habit of drying up quickly.

TexicoFromMexico   October 16th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

It's true he is a plant and is not even registered to vote! WTG McCain campaign! First you could not even vette your own VP candidate and now this! Is Carl Rove running this? I have a feeling not because even he would be smart enough to pick someone thats registered to vote!

I believe Barack when he says he will make a difference. I don't believe John McCain when he calls me "his friend". He's not my friend, I don't know anyone who wears $500 pair of shoes. I don't know anyone who has a $300 thousand dollar outfit, like his wife. That's more than my house.

Yes we Can but only if everyone VOTES for OBAMA. We will never be comfortable until we win the WHITE HOUSE....The GOP play real dirty so it is far from over and they will be coming after Obama with everything they have. But this time is different than in 2000 and 2004. He has fought back. He is a born leader that has more than stepped over the presidential threshold..........McCain is just plain mean. He can't make a point without being ulgy. Also why is it when Black who are voting for Obama are seen as voting for color. When in the past we have almost always voted for a DEMOCRAT. Now if Obama was a Republican and we voted for him then would be the time to say race was the factor.

NB   October 16th, 2008 12:29 pm ET

What people should think before going to vote is who the real candidates are. John McCain was rich always. He added more by ditching his first wife and marrying Cindy. Obama on the other hand is like every american made his drema come true by proper education which he did through scholership. McCain is now saying that he is not Bush. Then what was he doing for the past 7 years. Where was this Maverick when we needed him. I see posts here saying that Obamas cabinet will distroy America.
Is there anything to destroy now. Only thing remaining for us tostrave to death. I am afraid McCain will make that happen. I don't want to live scared for the next 4 years . So all you McCain supporters if you have problem with Obama the President go to Alaska . You can have your dream life under the wonderful governer palin.

Also the look on Cindy Lou's face. She looked so defeated last night, and just waved at Michelle. What a phony, plastic woman.

Side Note: I also saw Cindy wave at supporters when she was just inches away from them. I know she pretends her hands are too fragile, but give me a break. Barbie needs to go back home to Arizona and stop pretending she "cares".

This Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher already talks like a GOP pundit. But the most important thing about Joe Wurzelbacher is his last name: it's the same as the last name of Charles Keating's son-in-law!

Keating's son-in-law, Robert Wurzelbacher, served a 40-month prison sentence in 1993 in connection with Keating's Lincoln Savings and Loan collapse. Since then, who knows what he's been up to, but there is a Robert Wurzelbacher who lives just outside of Cincinnati, owns a wood company, and donates to Republicans.

Meanwhile there is a Joseph Wurzelbacher who owns a painting company in Cincinnati! Along with a septic tank repair company!

Toni   October 16th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

I agree about Joe. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

As for the article, I agree. The key is VOTING. Support is fine but it's votes that count so get out there in November and VOTE VOTE VOTE!

canuck   October 16th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

too late, they are already too cocky. it will be a long four years for me. i am looking forward to seeing the red sea parted. i am starting to make a count down sign in my office.

Independent in Albany   October 16th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

I can see PRESIDENT Obama from my house....................

Gerry   October 16th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

The advice to stay on top of the game until the end is good advice and wise counsel from Senator Obama to his supporters. Senator McCain is not defeated yet and may still unleash more of his typical negative attacks against Senator Obama. The trends are evident to all who can read, but it is worth while noting that elections are won or lost by those who do or do not vote. Vote for Obama and get your freedom back! Vote for McCain and get four more years of George W. Bush!

Valentina in CT   October 16th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

That's right – the ONLY way he will win is if people actually go out and VOTE! The polling comes to you – but on Nov. 4th, you have to GO TO THE POLLS!

Tricia   October 16th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Your supporters will ALWAYS be in your corner, what ever it is you need, we will be right there for you and the country.

Vote Obama / Biden "08"

Lissa in Montreal   October 16th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

He rocks. This is precisely the steady, calm and confident (without being OVERconfident) 'dude that's needed in a true Leader. Michelle Obama said the same thing in her rally yesterday. Tortoise and the Hare is the best example I've been using with my kids.

He'll win as long as he continues to do the things he has been doing thus far. And his integrity and consistency are so strong, I've no doubt he will.

fella from Chicago   October 16th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

May be Senator Obama knows something. This morning Rasmussen poll shows Senator McCain has closed to within 4%. Rasmussen uses a large sample to get their results and it's the one I believe out of all the polls, but I will be interested where the Gallup comes in this afternoon. Toss the other polls out.

Tony   October 16th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Polls are good to a point. No one knows what one is going to do when they pull the curtain and cast their vote. Please less not be premature on the outcome. Nov. 5th will tell the real story.

Democrat 4 Life   October 16th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

That's right! the same energy we display on the blogs should be the same on election day otherwise all our efforts will be in vain.

The Measure of The Man   October 16th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Good stories about Obama abound; from his personal relationship with his Secret Service agents (he invites them into his home to watch sports, and shoots hoops with them) to the story about how, more than twenty years ago, while standing in the check-in line at an airport, Obama paid a $100 baggage surcharge for a stranger who was broke and stuck. (Obama was virtually penniless himself in those days.)

Years later after he became a senator, that stranger recognized Obama's picture and wrote to him to thank him. She received a kindly note back from the senator. (The story only surfaced because the person, who lives in Norway, told a local newspaper after Obama ran for the presidency. The paper published a photograph of this lady proudly displaying Senator Obama's letter.)

Where many leaders are two-faced; publicly kindly but privately feared and/or hated by people closest to them, Obama is consistent in the way he treats people, consistently kind and personally humble.

Evan   October 16th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

I agree 100%. Fellow dems and liberals we can't get cocky. Yes I'm happy looking at the polls but we all have to vote and encourage those that may want to sit this one to vote. We don't want people to say " there is no way for him to lose" and then not vote. If that happens then McCain will win and it will be a disaster.

Paul DObro   October 16th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Hey McCain, vet your plumber before making him a centerpiece of your debate. Of, thats right, you didn't vet your VP either.

Doesn't fall into the Bush tax cut that Obama will stop.

Not a lisenced plumber

Chris   October 16th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

This is just crazy. Is this guy perfect or what!!!!

He never gets overconfident, he is intelligent, and you can tell with every word that comes out of his mouth that he REALLY IS GOING TO FIGHT FOR AMERICA.

This guy just might end up being remembered as one of the best presidents that ever existed, and he has not even won yet.

He shows restraint and control, and he constantly gives himself a reality check and never gets carried away.

For those who do not agree with Mr. Obama, we can at least learn a very big lesson, if not many lessons, from this great man.

Ron from Baltimore   October 16th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

As has been his trademark by now, Sen. Obama demonstrates his wary ways in facing the future. He thrives on the promise of the future, of learning from past mistakes, but is realistic and practical enough to want to ensure we don't get lost in happy thoughts while letting the problems slip by unnoticed. He does not want to take anything for granted, including a big lead in the polls. For, as we see at the end of every business day, even the stock market numbers can change even after the 4 p.m. "count" is in. Wait until the eggs hatch, and see which chicks are going to make the best go of it, and then nurture them all to ensure the best outcome.

No Way. No How. No McCain-McPalin.   October 16th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

Sen. Obama, we will continue to fight until you are the next president, and fight even more when there to make our country a better place!

Purple Nurple   October 16th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

Trust me Senator, I am trying to keep from yelling WE DID IT, but I know I must wait a little more.....19 DAYS to cast my vote for OBAMA.

Too bad I have to cast my vote on a DIEBOLD machine. I am sure DIEBOLD has already rigged the machines just in time for the GE.

Obamalism   October 16th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

I’ve been in these positions before where we are favored and the press starts getting carried away and we end up getting spanked..."

I didn't know the Irony could get any thicker...

Quit listening to what he's saying and start looking at what he's done. (or not done)

You can't believe a person's promises if he's shown the opposite in his past.

Fran, NE   October 16th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Trust me, I live in America and I know we can't get "cocky" about the situation. I want Barack to win, but the GOP are not angels. They have stolen elections in the past and they will steal it again.

The only reason GW won in 2004 was to prove a point. The point being they "really" won the election in 2000, which they didn't. Republicans stupidly voted for this moron and more men and women were killed. Now no one openly says they voted for GW. Why? If you vote for a moron, you are a moron. I wouldn't tell anyone either.

MikeH   October 16th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

The Republican Facist "Suppress-the Vote" Movement is about to go into full swing.

I wonder if the US Army Northern Command will be called in to help out, since the first active Army units are being deployed on US soil as I type this.

So much for the Posse Comitatus act.

Shari, NY   October 16th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

I agree – don't get complacent. By the way, If Sen. Obama wants more debates I think McCain will be sticking out for those missing town hall meetings. Remember last night he was complaining that the negative ads were being aired because Obama did comply with requests for such meetings? What a feeble excuse!!!

Nelson Colorado Springs Co   October 16th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

Welcome Polls can be miss leading, it's the vote that counts.Go Sen Obama/Biden

Thinking before Speaking   October 16th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

wow, Ive just made my choice. It finally has become clear to me. Barack Obama is running for president to make a change during and AFTER his presidency. John McCain is just running to win the competition not for the betterment of this country. .

my vote goes to "THAT ONE"   October 16th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

Obama is right. We need to make sure we all vote and convince any of our undecided or Republican friends/family members to vote for Obama.

We need to continue our fight for the right change!

Obama/Biden 2008

CindyN--PA   October 16th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

They are saying that Joe the Plumber isnt even registered to vote.
Also I saw him talking on the news today, and Joe the Plumber doesnt even like paying into Social Security.
So for me, Joe the Plumber does not speak for most Americans.

I will vote for Obama, and proudly so.
Cant wait to get out the vote of November 4th

Bob Indianapolis IN   October 16th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Make it a LANDSLIDE, so that stealing the election through vote caging, electronic nullification, etc. will be impossible!

Jeanette   October 16th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Rumors abound that Joe the Plumber is a McCain camp plant... it's just too much of a coincidence otherwise.

Deb in Colo   October 16th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

I agree – DON'T FORGET AMERICAN – it's your job to vote!
