Palin assails Obama's connections to ACORN

Palin is now demanding that Obama disclose all communication between his campaign and ACORN.
Palin is now demanding that Obama disclose all communication between his campaign and ACORN.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (CNN) – Sarah Palin questioned Barack Obama’s ties to ACORN in her most forceful and comprehensive language to date, and demanded that the Democratic presidential nominee turn over all communication between the campaign and the progressive organization, which claims to have registered 1.3 million voters nationwide.

“As for ACORN and voter fraud, now they're under federal investigation, and John and are calling on the Obama campaign to release communications it has had with this group and to do so immediately,” Palin told an audience, with House Minority Leader John Boehner applauding on stage behind her.

The FBI confirmed Tuesday that they have begun preliminary a investigation of ACORN’s registration efforts. Palin accused the group of “rampant voter fraud,” although technically they are being accused of voter registration fraud.

“You deserve to know, Palin said. “You deserve to know because we do need to know more clearly about the choices that we have on Nov. 4. In this election, especially here in Ohio, you’re going to be asked to choose between a candidate who will not disavow a group committing voter fraud and a leader who will not tolerate it.”

Obama’s relationship with the community organizing group has been highlighted by Republicans ever since it was accused of submitting fraudulent voter applications in various states, including Ohio. Obama helped train ACORN organizers in Chicago after law school and later represented the group in a 1995 motor voter case that, in Obama’s words, “helped people get registered at DMVs.”

During the Democratic primaries, the campaign paid a group affiliated with ACORN $800,000 for canvassing efforts. ACORN endorsed Obama during the primaries but has not formally backed a candidate in the general election.

Palin said Obama is “fuzzing up his connections” to the group and that the Democrat would drag a lot of baggage” into the Oval Office if elected with ACORN’s help.

“These associations are important,” she said. “They go to the heart of someone's judgment and truthfulness. And it is not mean-spirited, it is not negative campaigning to ask someone about their record. It's in fairness to the electorate.”

The Obama campaign repudiated Palin's criticisms.

"We have not worked with ACORN at all in the general election," said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Rather than make these false, desperate attacks, the McCain-Palin campaign should release an economic plan that actually helps the middle class instead of giving billions in tax cuts to big corporations."

Did Obama request ACORN to do these things? No and he didn't ask ACORN to anything else. There is a connection between Obama and ACORN. He did work with them, but it isn't that he is the head of the group and telling them to do illegal stuff.

Just because there is an investigation going on doesn't mean that there is something illegal there. It will take time to find out the facts of the case and if there was anything illegal done and if it was directed and by whom. Once that is determained, then it will be clear as to who made the mistakes.

This Article should be titled. Republicans use ACORN to cover economic crises with clouds and fog. I am a disgusted Republican who cannot believe how low my Party has crawled under the McCain leadership. Anyone with the brain of a Gnat know that ACORN is a Government sponsored organization which has operated for Thirty Years! The Republicans have their Idiot Base ( he ..he.. he's an Arab) convinced that Obama founded ACORN in Saudi Arabia and sneaked them into the country. Good Lord ! Can we just vote now ?!

We all know now that Joe the Plummer is actually a Republicans plant aka "Joe the Republican". This stunt raises questions about ACORN. What a convenient connection between ACORN and Senator Obama since he was a community organizer. It would be so easy for the Republicans to plant workers within ACORN to manufacture the fraudulent forms. This would create the appearance of a criminal activity and Obama connection. It is strange that we have not seen any actual ACORN field worker involvement. The workers who actually turned this fraudulent forms in. That could be easily tracked. The attempt is to put ACORN the organization on trial. So much could be accomplish by the Republicans from this new stunt; disenfranchise thousands of legal voters, tarnish the image of Senator Obama, and steal some key battleground states, win the election. If this ACORN mess is not resolve within the next 2 weeks, than this theory becomes something more. We all know what happen to our democracy in FL 8 years ago. Those facts are now clear. Most of our recent calamities have been man-made. These are the stunts that causes our calamities. If this is true, don't blame the Republican. We have no one to blame but ourselves. We got fooled once (2000 via FL) , than twice (2004 via OH) and now here we are in 2008 (via ACORN).

You all had your fun and it was funny to watch you posting your hateful and arrogant posts day after day here, thinking that Obama had a chance.

Now it is time for us adults to weigh in and stop being the silent majority and just be the majority. You see there is a large diffrence between arrogant and confident. Confidence allows you to sit back and watch and wait. Mr. McCain was correct we have you just where we want you. 18 days and you are now going to be blindsided by the rush of all of us into this race.

  16. If Your Are Not FOR something .... you will FALL for ANYTHING

What Do YOU stand for .... Mr. McCain ... Mrs. Palin ... that's the question.

Your arrogance in raising topics that you think you can demand that Obama address TURNS US OFF.

Just because you and John McCain manufacture a daily diversion question doesn't mean we care to hear it.

You guys are slinging fecal matter with the hopes that it will sully Senator Obama. That's a waste of the American People's time right now.

What have you done for me lately? That's the question.

They don't know how else to beat him so they continue to lie and smear his reputation. What happened to Mc Cain's words that he stands up for Obama when things are said that are wrong. He and Palin have run such a negative campaign. Palin should not be so quick to point a finger as she did not get off scott free from her trail in Alaska as she was not prosecuted but admonished for using her office and allowing her husband to do so also. More charges are coming but Obama has been a gentleman and never says anything negative about her. Is her husband going to help her lead as he did in Alaska and be involved in all the aspects of the V.P. office? Inquiring minds want to know.

  18. The Hypocrisy Express is in Overdrive.

John McCain calls Obama's ads questioning McCain's POLICIES "negative".

Palin says it's not negative campaigning to try and tie someone to voter fraud.

Hey, Palin, when's John McCain going to release HIS communications with ACORN? Dontcha know he was a headline speaker at one of their events in 2006.

Say it ain't so, Mrs. Abuse of Power!

The news this morning says that the US Govt. has to pay Alaska $15 million to get copies of the yahoo and official state emails of Gov. Palin. And even at that, they won't be available until after Nov. 4.

Abuse of power – proven. Hiding information from US – $15 million after Nov. 4.

We don't need that woman anywhere near an influential government position for our country.

and when will Palin release all the emails she did on personal accounts in order to keep them from the public? And answer detailed questions about her husband's lengthy affiliation with the Alaska Independence Party?
