Palin assails Obama's connections to ACORN

Palin is now demanding that Obama disclose all communication between his campaign and ACORN.
Palin is now demanding that Obama disclose all communication between his campaign and ACORN.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (CNN) – Sarah Palin questioned Barack Obama’s ties to ACORN in her most forceful and comprehensive language to date, and demanded that the Democratic presidential nominee turn over all communication between the campaign and the progressive organization, which claims to have registered 1.3 million voters nationwide.

“As for ACORN and voter fraud, now they're under federal investigation, and John and are calling on the Obama campaign to release communications it has had with this group and to do so immediately,” Palin told an audience, with House Minority Leader John Boehner applauding on stage behind her.

The FBI confirmed Tuesday that they have begun preliminary a investigation of ACORN’s registration efforts. Palin accused the group of “rampant voter fraud,” although technically they are being accused of voter registration fraud.

“You deserve to know, Palin said. “You deserve to know because we do need to know more clearly about the choices that we have on Nov. 4. In this election, especially here in Ohio, you’re going to be asked to choose between a candidate who will not disavow a group committing voter fraud and a leader who will not tolerate it.”

Obama’s relationship with the community organizing group has been highlighted by Republicans ever since it was accused of submitting fraudulent voter applications in various states, including Ohio. Obama helped train ACORN organizers in Chicago after law school and later represented the group in a 1995 motor voter case that, in Obama’s words, “helped people get registered at DMVs.”

During the Democratic primaries, the campaign paid a group affiliated with ACORN $800,000 for canvassing efforts. ACORN endorsed Obama during the primaries but has not formally backed a candidate in the general election.

Palin said Obama is “fuzzing up his connections” to the group and that the Democrat would drag a lot of baggage” into the Oval Office if elected with ACORN’s help.

“These associations are important,” she said. “They go to the heart of someone's judgment and truthfulness. And it is not mean-spirited, it is not negative campaigning to ask someone about their record. It's in fairness to the electorate.”

The Obama campaign repudiated Palin's criticisms.

"We have not worked with ACORN at all in the general election," said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Rather than make these false, desperate attacks, the McCain-Palin campaign should release an economic plan that actually helps the middle class instead of giving billions in tax cuts to big corporations."

Blah, blah, blah. slander, slander, blah, blah. This is all we hear from the McCain camp. What about Joe the Plumber or Joe six Pack or Hockey Moms, you dropped them like a bad habit. A Merry Go Round has a better chance to get the American people to change direction than McCain/Palin

Ummmm Right!!!!! And this is coming from someone who didn't want anyone to cooperate with her abuse of power investigation. I love how Obama and Biden have never been under investigation, but both Palin and McLame have been under investigations.

Sarah Palin, am surprised you still talking. How about answering some real question as to why you abuse your power, can't be reach by the media and the worst of all do you really believe that you are qualified to be President on day one?.......if your answers are yes then why are so afraid to speak to the media?
    CNN should post my comment.

If Your Are Not FOR something .... you will FALL for ANYTHING October 17th, 2008 2:23 pm ET

What Do YOU stand for …. Mr. McCain … Mrs. Palin … that's the question.

Your arrogance in raising topics that you think you can demand that Obama address TURNS US OFF.

Just because you and John McCain manufacture a daily diversion question doesn't mean we care to hear it.

You guys are slinging fecal matter with the hopes that it will sully Senator Obama. That's a waste of the American People's time right now.

What have you done for me lately? That's the question.

NEWSFLASH!!! THE FBI DOSENT INVESTIGATE ANYTHING UNLESS THEY HAVE CAUSE TO DO SO. THEY WOULDNT WASTE THEIR PRECIOUS RESORCES ON SOMETHING MINOR. OBAMA STILL TO THIS DAY HASNT ANSWERED ALL THE QUESTIONS I HAVE. THE OTHER NIGHT IN THE DEBATE, MCCAIN ASKED HIM ABOUT WHY HE BACKED OUT OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE? ASKED HIM WHY HE LIED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. HE CHANGED THE SUBJECT AND DID NOT ANSWER THE QUESTION. UNFORTUNATLY NO ONE FORCED HIM TO DO IT. I SAY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO FORCE HIM TO ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS. WHERE ARE HIS RECORDS? BIRTH RECORDS ETC. WHY WOULD YOU HIDE STUFF LIKE THAT UNLESS THERES A PROBLEM WITH THEM. HE NEEDS TO BE FORTHCOMMING BEFORE ALL THE KOOLAIDE DRINKERS VOTE HIM. SERIOUSLY I AM READIG ALOT OF DISTURBING THINGS THAT HAVENT BEEN ANSWERED.

I don't know what her beef is ....

Can't she understand that this is all normal. Chicago politics at it's finest. Not since the days of prohibition and Al Capone has such wantoness in voter registration been displayed. The democrats are so feverent about their pop-star hero that they are making sure all of their votes count even if a few thousand of them have to vote three, four or even a dozen times to do so.

So back off Sarah Palin or the Democrats will try to smear you some more as a distraction from their ever so normal activities.

Why is Sarah Palin so stubborn and inattentive. The negative crap does not work. It is pissing people off. That are the robot calls you people have just launched.

Keep your talking point to your program and if have none, shut-up and go back to Alaska.

I'm voting on Tuesday!!! Barak all the way!! Dems...show your disgust by storming the polls with early voting. Vote early, and call all of your friends and remind them to vote, and vote early. They're counting on us all showing up on Nov 4th, where they can stall us, frustrate us, and demotivate us.

Don't wait. Get it over with!!! Let's get this (Democratic) Party started!!!

Palin's husband would have difficulty getting a security clearance because of his ties with the AIP and who knows, Palin herself could be affected. What a scenario, a VP who couldn't sit in with the National Security Council. It will be so good to have her go back to Alaska, pay her back taxes, and account for her misdeeds as governor. Please Sarah, do not come back.

I find it funny how desperately republicans grabbed that last straw.
People, why it is so difficult to grasp that simple fact that whatever ACCORN did has nothing to do with voting. NOTHING AT ALL. They were registering voters. If I so chose I can "register" Homer Simpson. Whenever he shoes up, however he has to demonstrate that he is in fact a resident of that locality and produce some sort of valid ID.

As for Palin... let's look at her "performance" in Alaska first....

It seems that Gov Palin is getting less and less media coverage, as less and less people seem to care what she has to say. She is becoming more and more irrelevant each day.

Is anyone else concerned that McCain and Palin don't seem to have the capacity to listen? I mean, McCain calls Obama out to explain Bill Ayres, then when Obama does so, McCain just continues on with his attacks like he never heard a thing?

It's the same with the lies about fining small businesses for not providing health care (Obama told McCain to his face at the debate that small businesses are EXEMPT) yet McCain repeated it on the stump today. Also it is a proven fact that only about 1% of small businesses would face increased tax under the Obama plan.

My question is this: Who is McCain talking to when he makes these claims? Obviously it is only the few rich people who would actually have to pay more taxes. Yet many ignorant people like this Joe the Plumber buy into his BS. Joe the plumber isn't even a plumber but even if he was, he would still be better off under Obama's plan.

It may be CNN didn't get the memo yet, Supreme Court backed the State Board of Elections in Ohio and not the other way around. Please check your sources of information. Instead of dispatching you team of reporters on a fact finding mission you stand to endorse McCain's message.

This woman really is an idiot. Somebody needs to sit McCain and Palin down and explain to them the difference between registration fraud and voter fraud, neither of which has anything to do with Obama's campaign. This type of rhetoric is only believed by the simplest of minds.

Susie: The last supreme court justices, including the chief justice, are conservative Bush picks. So let me ask you, who in the supreme court is fixing the election? How is letting new voters vote before election day a terrible offense to begin with? I am willing to wager there were votes cast for both major political parties, and likely some 3rd party votes as well.
