Palin assails Obama's connections to ACORN

Palin is now demanding that Obama disclose all communication between his campaign and ACORN.
Palin is now demanding that Obama disclose all communication between his campaign and ACORN.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (CNN) – Sarah Palin questioned Barack Obama’s ties to ACORN in her most forceful and comprehensive language to date, and demanded that the Democratic presidential nominee turn over all communication between the campaign and the progressive organization, which claims to have registered 1.3 million voters nationwide.

“As for ACORN and voter fraud, now they're under federal investigation, and John and are calling on the Obama campaign to release communications it has had with this group and to do so immediately,” Palin told an audience, with House Minority Leader John Boehner applauding on stage behind her.

The FBI confirmed Tuesday that they have begun preliminary a investigation of ACORN’s registration efforts. Palin accused the group of “rampant voter fraud,” although technically they are being accused of voter registration fraud.

“You deserve to know, Palin said. “You deserve to know because we do need to know more clearly about the choices that we have on Nov. 4. In this election, especially here in Ohio, you’re going to be asked to choose between a candidate who will not disavow a group committing voter fraud and a leader who will not tolerate it.”

Obama’s relationship with the community organizing group has been highlighted by Republicans ever since it was accused of submitting fraudulent voter applications in various states, including Ohio. Obama helped train ACORN organizers in Chicago after law school and later represented the group in a 1995 motor voter case that, in Obama’s words, “helped people get registered at DMVs.”

During the Democratic primaries, the campaign paid a group affiliated with ACORN $800,000 for canvassing efforts. ACORN endorsed Obama during the primaries but has not formally backed a candidate in the general election.

Palin said Obama is “fuzzing up his connections” to the group and that the Democrat would drag a lot of baggage” into the Oval Office if elected with ACORN’s help.

“These associations are important,” she said. “They go to the heart of someone's judgment and truthfulness. And it is not mean-spirited, it is not negative campaigning to ask someone about their record. It's in fairness to the electorate.”

The Obama campaign repudiated Palin's criticisms.

"We have not worked with ACORN at all in the general election," said Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Rather than make these false, desperate attacks, the McCain-Palin campaign should release an economic plan that actually helps the middle class instead of giving billions in tax cuts to big corporations."

Yep some people take Palin's words at face value. You don't believe it, well today's data backs up this fact. McCain has gained 2 points.

While I detest thes tactics, it's time for agression must be met with agression. The American people have a right to know the full story regarding Kieding 5, McCain's ties to that ultra right wing group linked to Iran contra, Palin's seperatest palls, & trooper gate among other things.

Obama's got to fight fire with fire because these two will do anything to win. If he doesn't he deserves what happens to him.

    Joe the Teacher,
How can you not respect Palin, and respect McCain? McCain made an extremely poor judgement when he asked Palin to be his running mate. She was never thoroughly investigated by the McCain campaign. Is this the type of decision making we want in the White House? You must be misinformed. Keating Five, does that ring a bell? McCain allowed Verizon and AT&T to install communications towers on his Arizona property at no charge to him, freebies. Is this the kind of judgement we want in the White House? Inciting violence and racism at his rallies, is this the kind of judgement we want in the White House? Obama is not an "Arab", but "Arab" is not the opposite of decent, or it that what McCain wants us to believe. What does "That one" mean? Does he want us to think of Obama's skin color first, as if skin color makes one untrustworthy? The republican campaign has been a national shame, and it is a sad day in America when a candidate allows those at his rallies to threaten the life of his opponent. Not only once, but three times Obama's life has been threatened at McCain rallies. McCain is an old fool and anyone who cannot see this is foolish.

If anyone should understand fraud it should be Sarah Palin. Please, why not come back here and explain it to all of us Alaskans? Tell us about why you let Walt Monegan go, a respected public servant for over 30 years. Gee, when I was a Supervisor for the Division of Juvenile Justice here in Alaska, I should have made sure my husband was emailed about all my cases and my concernes. I should have brought him into my office too! Only, gee, I would have been fired! Palin, you have absolutely no credibiltiy and no right to accuse anyone of anything. Face your own music.

Thats great coming from a person that is stonewalling an investigation that said she was guilty of an ethics violation. I call for her to disclose all her work emails sent on her personal email. That is against the law and we have a right to know what she was hiding.

    Sarah:

Who cares about ACORN? Nobody, that's who!

What do we care about? We care about having jobs in this country and not losing them to China or India. We care about being able to go to the doctor without going bankrupt. We care about fixing the economy so that some of us will still have money in our retirement accounts when the time comes.

Why don't you talk about the things that matter? Because they don't matter to you, that's why!

I am confuss ......... 'voter fraud' is when a person already voted? OR is it when someone goes to vote?

I don't know how it is on other parts but in TEXAS , when one goes to vote ... we have to show our voting id or Driver license where we have to sign on a paper out name and address.

SO if someone who say is name ' Mickey Mouse ' goes to the poll to vote ...... ahhhhh don't people check for his license or voting id????

    Like I said I am confuss ...........

CNN you are just repeating all McCain/Palin talking points without any serious debunking.

You quote Palin's accusation that ACORN committed "voter fraud" and forget to clarify that ACORN was only involved in "voter registration".

Furthermore in all your reports on ACORN you always omitted to mention the most basic fact: under most state laws, voter registration organizations such as ACORN are REQUIRED to turn in all the forms they receive. Even those they know that may be problematic!!!

I think it's hilarious that Palin who would not cooperate with the Troopergate investigation which was entirely about her...thinks the Obama campaign should cooperate with the ACORN investigation when there is no connection between the two.

Ms. Palin, why are you talking about ACORN when you should be talking about how your running mate is going to turn the financial crises around?

Sen. Obama is not responsible for ACORN employess who commit fraud against ACORN by signing up false registrations. Why are you wasting the American publics time with this nonsense? In case you haven't noticed this why you and McCain are behind in the polls.

Americans are not stupid and we know the difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud. ACORN could hire me with good intentions and I could go out and sign up bogus people just to get paid. Lady please get back to the issues
