ROANOKE, Virginia (CNN) — The new symbol of the McCain campaign: the plunger.

As Democratic nominee Barack Obama pulled into the Roanoke Civic Center on Friday, he was greeted by the usual McCain campaign supporters that show at Obama rallies. But this time, those waving McCain-Palin signs were joined by dozens of people waving standard-issue plungers. Some wore white t-shirts emblazoned with "I AM JOE THE PLUMBER" on the front. The protesters all said they were volunteers and not paid by the McCain campaign.

The plungers serve as a reference to the 2008 campaign's latest cult personality, Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher of Holland Ohio. (Joe is actually his middle name. First name: Samuel).

While the plungers emerged in Roanoke, McCain's vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin told a fundraiser in neighboring North Carolina Thursday night that she's already tired of "Joe the Plumber."

"Don't make me say Joe the Plumber, please, in any speeches," Palin said.

Joe the Plummer does not have the necessary license in Ohio to be a plummer and he has a lien on his property for owing taxes. You are right he is the perfect poster child for corrupt republicans. Dirtbags.

priscilla   October 17th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

why are you not covering joe biden?

steve   October 17th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

The emergence of the plungers can only mean one thing — the McCain campaign is in the toilet.

Tex   October 17th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

All of you lefties are missing the point: Obama let the truth out. He wants to redistribute wealth. Joe the Plumber could have been anyone, he was just the one with the courage to ask the right question. One that CNN should have asked were they actually fair.

I suggest you all go out and get jobs and move out of your mother's basement instead of figuring out how to get "rich" people's money.

SoCal   October 17th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

CNN please tell those guys that Joe The Plumber is not really a plumber (he doesn't even have a license), and that he makes just $40K a year, so he would get by far most tax relief under the Obama's plan…

Marie   October 17th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

She don't want to hear anything aabout Joe the Plummer but she can talk about killing mooses. When she needs to do is have interveiws with the news networks and let the american people see just how much experience she do have,Fox news is the only station she will speak to because they are pro Obama.McCaintold a big lie last night that this woman was vetted and David Letterman asked him with sincerity in his heart do he beleive that should she have to take over as president could she handle the job and he said of course. He barely got an applause from the audiance in agreement on the show.He really must think we ar crazy to compare her as a govenor to Bill Clinton. You never remember Bill Clinton with the lack of intelligence this woman have such as the proxmidity from Alaska to Russia.Supreme Court cases and what magazines you read.

Snows the plumbers   October 17th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

I guess these plumbers aren't earning $250 K per year much less providing significant employment for others. The legitimate issue "Joe" brought up was the impact of additional taxes on employers. Ransacked employers results in fewer employees… no jobs. I don't own a business but I can see how Obama's pandering tax program will actually cause more harm that may lead to a President Hoover style depression.

Poor Joe, he should not have spoken against the "snowsen one".

mom for obama   October 17th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

Guess these guys haven't heard yet that "Joe" isn't really licensed to work as a plumber, doesn't have plans to buy the company he works for (which doesn't make over $250,000 per year) and owes back taxes. When are the "Joe" plumbers and six-packs out there going to realize that it's really Obama's plans which will work for them? Hopefully before November 4 or we could all be in a lot of trouble. Obama '08

Lynne - Seattle   October 17th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

"""Sarah Palin told a fundraiser in neighboring North Carolina Thursday night that she's already tired of "Joe the Plumber.""""

OH My goodness! How funny is that? They have a new catch phrase that is getting people fired up and she is already tired of it! Maybe it's because it wasn't her idea…isn't her catch phrases of joe-six-pack etc. Way to be on message!

Good try McCain…but not good enough …sorry …we Americans dont want to suffer anther 4 years because of a few Joe Plumers you put together…..

She's tired? She must be tired of the guy who made Joe famous and herself famous for their and his "coup".

Russ Miller   October 17th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

Joe the Plumber represents many of us that want to work hard and get ahead. Possibly even own a business one day.

Why does Obama insisist on "spreading the wealth" from successful people to people who don't take chances with their small businesss.

Google,AAPL, Amazon were all small businesses at one point, now they hire thousands.

Redistribution of wealth is not the American Way.

C W   October 17th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

Another example of the GOP grasping at straws and not vetting people in advance. This plumber guy isn't licensed, is in not position to buy a business and yet he's now the spokes-puppet for the GOP.

So pathetic … so sad. The plungers will come in handy, though: McCain and Palin are a HUGE mess to flush down the toilet.

Michael   October 17th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

It will take more than a plunger to fix this economy. The stock market plunge, record job losses and foreclosures has flush a lot of wealth down the toilet and has been devestating to American Families. Barack Obama and Joe Biden offer a new leadership that will inspire and engage Americans in service and responsibility for our country and neighbors. They are ready to go to work not on January 20th but on November 5th.

Obama's Marxist tax plan certainly would flush the U.S. economy down the toilet. Say no to socialist "share the wealth" plans that punish everyone who works!

anne   October 17th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

CNN…don't you think Palin saying today she enjoys visiting the "Pro-America" places in our country is worth writing about a little more?
Am I living in an anti-american part of the country because Obama is going to win my state hands down? CNN how come you never write anything about McCain or Palin except their talking points and never point out when they are just telling LIES?

I'm sick of racists and joe the plumbers who are not named joe and who are not really even plumbers. I am so sick of all the lies and you guys are becoming as bad a fox news.

Franklin   October 17th, 2008 1:44 pm ET

"Sarah Palin told a fundraiser in neighboring North Carolina Thursday night that she's already tired of 'Joe the Plumber.'"

This is purposefully inaccurate. Palin didn't say she was tired of Joe the Plumber. She said she didn't want to just repeat the same points. She spoke extensively on how Joe was able to get the true answer from Obama: spread the wealth around, take the money away from small businesses which employ millions of people.

Parenthetically, haven't you guys figured out that once he's in power, Obama's going to grab the media by the neck like a Denver cop on an ABC producer?

houston   October 17th, 2008 1:44 pm ET

Latest Gallup poll using their traditional method(they are issuing two polls based on two different methods) Obama 49%, McCain 47%. This is within margin of error and is considered a tie. Rasmussen and Zogby both have McCain within 4 which is within margin of error so technically considered a tie. All three polls show McCain gaining over last week.

Craig   October 17th, 2008 1:44 pm ET

You can dig up dirt on Joe the Plumber but you can not kill the idea.
No more spreading the wealth.

Do these guys REALLY want to declare themselves "Joe The Plumber"? Hope they know whom they are emulating.
As for Sarah, I think McCain needs to "school" her on current ploys. He was the one to bring "Joe the Plumber" to the forefront, and now SHE'S saying she wants to let the topic drop. Division in the camp?

Vegas Barbie for Obama   October 17th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

Joe the Plumber is a bust now, folks, not licensed, owes back taxes, in short, a tool that McCain tried to wield that grew tired REALLY quickly. I am afraid that those plungers are indicative of where McCain's campaign is headed, fellas, so keep 'em handy!
OBAMA/BIDEN '08 & '12 YES WE CAN!!!

NotafraidofTHEONE   October 17th, 2008 1:40 pm ET

First, you don't need a liscence to be a plumber, he works for a liscenced one. Second, if your concerned about owing back taxes, take a look a BHO's campaign treasurer. Third, your attacks on a man who asked a question that exposed your holiness as a socialist shows how far the democrat party has gone to the left. You should be asking how a marxist was able to avoid the vetting and rise to the head of your party! Finally, you attack Sara Palin's intelligence while your veep candidate apparently can't count past 3! It's going to be fun watching the rage when McCain/Palin win! Hopefully most of you will make good on those pledges to leave the country if a republican wins again.

USAF Staff Sergeant   October 17th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

I don't think these fools quite understand. Since it looks like none of them make over $250k, they would be better off under Obama's plan. It looks to me like they just need a job.

Yet another misstep by McCain campaign managers: voting public now notified that Joe the Plumber is an impostor! Said imposter is actually Sam the Ain't No Plumber Lyin' Income Tax Deadbeat, aka "Sam the Liar". Public perception is Sam the Liar was a "plant" by the McCain campaign.

Memo to McCain:
True hard-working, tax paying independent and conservative democrat voters believe they were deceived by both the McCain campaign and Sam the Liar. Strongly advise vetting of all future "plants".

Word of the Day: vetting
v. vetting: to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity, validity, etc.

It not about Joe the plumber. It's about the answer from Obama, showing his true socialist stripes. His tax "cuts" for 95% is also bogus as it includes givebacks to people who don't pay taxes.
As for the "fairness doctrine", it great how you wan't to shut up people with whom you disagree and then call THEM the fascists. Please look up fascist in the dictionary. Argue or discuss the issue of the question, "Wealth redistribution" not the questioner.

Joe the Techie   October 17th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

Obama is not able to send out his message properly, I think. He is getting pounded McCain/Palin's gimmicks. He is cutting more taxes for more people than McCain.
Why is it so hard to understand?

The Irony   October 17th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

These poor folks don't even know that they would be better off in an Obama administration. That's the price to pay for a lack of education and attention to the issues.

Even "Joe the Plumber", when things were explained to him, admitted that he would be better off tax-wise under Obama. However, he has his own reasons for not publicly backing Obama. Joe's comparing Obama to Sammy Davis Jr. might provide a clue. Here are some other clues:

- He's not even a licensed plumber
- He makes no way near $250K
- He's a registered Republican
- He's from Arizona

Hmm…..Am I the only one that finds this too convenient?

He might be a plant/mole just like the other McCain-Pail protesters.

ann in boston   October 17th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

So let's see who McCain/Palin talk to: hockey moms, joe six pack, joe the plumber, and yesterday in Maine, the dimwit was excited because Maine reminded her of home with 'all the Carharts and steel toe work boots'.

Do their supporters even realize they talk down to them? I have yet to hear either of them address business moms, joe educator, or nurses wearing scrubs. Seems pretty divided to me and sad that they have targeted such a small segment of people worth talking to.

Teddy   October 17th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

I believe it will still be a close election. Obama will not win by a landslide. Obama will possibly win by around 3%. But he could lose too.

I hope Obama can win by a small margin. Maybe Americans need a fresh start with Democrats. Even though we will pay more taxes under Obama. My wife has decided to vote for him and I will likely not vote against him.

But if Obama wins by a landslide, Democrats will sense a mandate for much bigger governments. Obama repeately said he would only raise taxes only for families with over $250,000 (actually, $210,000). But do you really believe in the campain slogan? How many positions has he changed during past several months? With a landslide win, Democrats will get a mandate. There is no way the tax increases will only be for folks with over $250,000 (my family is in the bracket, and I hope we will still be there during the economic downturn). But if Obama wins by a very small margin, then he will be restrained to raise taxes.

We may want a fresh start with Democrats and a very different President from history. But I do not like a landslide win for Democrats. How many social programs have been established after Democratic landslide win in 1964? That was the last landslide win by Democrats.

McCain vetted Wurzelbacher just like Palin…HE DIDN'T!!!! Wurzelbacher can't even pay his own personal taxes an he is thinking about buying a company…ya right!!!! In a way, I feel sorry for Wurzelbacher because his whole adult life will now be dissected by the public.

Nester, Chicago, IL   October 17th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

"Joe the plumber" is just the personification of Obama's idea of economy system of re-distribution of wealth. It is a significant interpretation of the difference between a welfare state and a ownership state.
There is no need to attack Joe, every voter must endeavor to understand how the economy will affect them if such concerns Joe shared with Obama are anything to go by. Before you cast your vote, I employ everyone to research or ask anyone who has lived under such welfare-state economy system Obama intends to introduce to America.

DN   October 17th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

I have a couple of questions: 1) Why didn't Sarah Palin accept the invitations to appear on the networks following the 3rd debate? Joe Biden appeared on all of the networks but Palin declined. That's a fact.
2) Senator McCain said he is not President Bush. That's fine, but why then did he accept money raised by Bush when he appeared at fundraisers behind closed doors? He pushes the President away with one hand but takes money Bush raised with the other. That's a fact.
And finally, 3) Why are the McCain/Palin signs blue? The Republican party is identified as being red with the Democratic Party being the one seen as blue. Are they attempting to fool people? That's a fair question, isn't it?

Get a quote from a plummer. It is $120 to walk in your door. Remember the movie THE MONEY PIT? The plumber shows up in a limousine.

The way the democrats attacked Joe the Plumber should make every American very scared. If you dare dissent against a president Obama, the AP, CNN, NBC will look into your tax filings, your divorce, and camp outside your house. If you dare question a President Obama, you will be called a racist. If you dare express your dislike of his policies, you will be charged with a hate crime.

I want a president I am free to disagree with, and the media has used censorship and propaganda to suppress our free speech rights.

My vote for McCain is a vote against the media.

Keep trashing Joe the Plumber, all you hateful obama supporters. Its going to cost you the election. So, please, keep it up. We appreciate the help. And, by the way, your leader is doing it, too, so that helps even more.

Ken   October 17th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Yes please STOP talking about this supposed rich plumber!!

I am so sick and tired of hearing about this guy. I couldn't care less about him, so PLEASE!! PLEASE!! STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM!!

No plumber can save the plunging McCain campaign now.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia in CA   October 17th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

News reports say the unlicensed Samuel earned about $40,000 last year and owes about 1,000 in back taxes. Additionally, this man has no immediate plans to buy a business.

Under Obama's tax relief this man would owe about $500 less in taxes

McCain campaign gets funnier and funnier each day.

BM   October 17th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

Sarah Palin should be the last person to even utter anything closly related to fraud. Her entire life as Governor has been questionable. Whenever she is on, I turn my channel. She is not worthy of listening to.

Disrespectful comments from Obama supporters, what's new?

vince   October 17th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

I cannot believe how many posters on this site are unable to spell. So much hate being spoken. Why is it impossible to share one's views without insults and barbs being tossed into the comment? All of this hatred and all of this polarization is what is dividing and destroying America. BOTH parties are playing into this as well. Noone wants middle ground any longer. It is always "my way or no way". NONE of our problems will be solved unless we ALL work together and ALL give some ground to get to the common center. Please…let the hate go and let's fix our country. If the parties want to spit on each other, let them. Let's ignore them and get this engine working again!

Johnny in South Carolina   October 17th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

Yeah guys… You see McCain supporters don't have anything better to do with their time than to dress up like a lying, unlicensed, none tax paying, $250,000 a year ( oops! $47,000 ) a year wanna be plumber. What McCain needs to do is tell those guys that Joe the Plumber has not been paying his taxes under the Bush tax laws. Go figure….

For once I agree with Palin. I am tired of hearing and talking about Joe also. The Joe that matters rightnow in this election is Joe Biden

My question is will John McCain offer contract work on all his seven houses in exchange for all these plumbers support? And at what point prior to the debate did John McCain become an "old buddy" with this ficticious Joe whose real name is Samuel the unliscensed plumber? Keep plumbing out of politics!

Clinton Democrat for Obama   October 17th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

A plunger isn't so much the symbol of Sen. McCain's campaign as it is a toilet.

Lynn   October 17th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

I think the Obama people have been the ones that have been so negative. They are the ones that are keeping the country from coming together. They seem to be consumed with hatred toward anyone who disagrees with them. I feel that they have been disrespectful in much of the campaign and it is because of them that this country will struggle to unite.

Michael watching from Canada   October 17th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Why do plumbers have a problem with Obama? Obama is going to help the average plumber.

I wonder if any of these plumbers make more than $250,000 per year!!

This CNN Article should be properly titled,

"Republican plumbers don't accept truth that Obama will help them more than McCain will help them"

why do these people still call him the joe the plumber. the guy has no plumbing license. he makes 42k a year, how on earth could he possibly buy the company he works for?

also that company hardly makes 100k a year. so much worry about the over 250k taxes huh! that's called lying. must've been planted by the mccain camp .

ACORN does not have any connection to votes for Obama. Why are you allowing mistruths to stand and why are you supporting them? Why aren't you reporting about voter suppresion by the Republican party which happened in 2000 and 2004? Why aren't you reporting McCain's ABSOLUTE connection to G. Gordon Liddy? On Letterman, McCain says his relationship with him is okay because the man went to jail. Are you kidding me? What about McCain receiving free cell towers from Verizon and AT&T? Where is CNN's "best news team on TV ' on these issues? Why no discussion? Talk about cover up for the Republican candidate. You should be sued by America for being a party to fraud in this election. John McCain is gaining in the polls and he almost tied with Obama. John McCain did well at the last debate by lecturing on the issues and separating himself form George Bush, so this should go well in putting John Mccain ahead in the polls in the coming days. Joe the plumber was also a great help for Mccain too.

mama4obama   October 17th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Bob   October 17th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

They look as silly as all the other silly McCain supporters. And they probably don't realize that Joe the Plumber is a fraud…he isn't a plumber, he can't afford to buy the business (that doesn't make the $250,000), even if he could he would still get a tax cut, he makes 40k a year so he should be voting for Obama. So Joe the Plumber, as usual with many a McCain supporter, is misinformed (or self deluded). Sort of like their two candidates, eh?

Bob in Milford

KJ, GA   October 17th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

Those boys are just ignorant. If they did there research they would realize that they will recieve tax breaks under Obama's plan.

You can be quite sure they don't make over $250,00 per yr, just by looking at them!

Ed, Santa Fe NM   October 17th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

Yup and Palin is no more tired of "Joe" than we are of her! Now this boob is running around and speaking only in "pro-America area."

A Well Educated Woman   October 17th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

oh brother, another one falls for the McCain lies. I guess they didn't watch the debate when Obama said you would not be taxed unless you make 250K a year. It doesn't appear that the real Joe Plumber or any of these guys in the picture have to worry about that.

I guess they are not suffering at all from the economic policies of the last 8 years, so I can understand their support. I however, am not better off today than I was eight years ago and my vote goes to Obama. He has the better plan for out country and the know how to carry the plan out. I love his outlook and the way he has run his campaign, his work and attitude gives me confidence and faith in his judgment. I cannot wait till Nov 4th and those guys protesting Obama can benefit from my vote even though they may not agree with me! Thanks but no thanks to Mccain/Palin!

Plumbers voting against their economic interests. Joe the Plumber is a caricature. The real Joe is not really named Joe, is not a plumber, made 40K in 2006, and has not put a bid in for the business he wants to acquire (which only netted 100K last year, by the way). More right-wing propoganda

Paul   October 17th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

So, the guy's name isn't even Joe.

He doesn't make $250k/year, and even if he bought a business and did, he most likely still wouldn't be affected by the Obama tax plan.

And, oh yeah, he's related by marriage to Charles Keating – of the Keating 5 scandal, not exactly a McCain career highlight.

Is this really the best that the McCain camp could come up with as a rallying cry?

It's a shame that the John McCain of 2000 seems to be MIA; I would have voted for him.

obamacan   October 17th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Kate - Minneapolis   October 17th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Okay media- we get it. You want this to be a close race so there is more "drama" on election day and more for you to cover but seriously, can we stop taking about this (not really a) plumber guy and talk about the issues? McCain has a terrible healthcare plan- can we focus on that?

Steve, Madison WI   October 17th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

McCain's policies would "plunge" us further into the toilet, so his love of "Joe the Plumber" are certainly appropriate.

michael   October 17th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

"Make you say" Palin? Sounds like you just support America's claim that your nothing but a pretty face reading a script. You're a political tool, a puppet. Granted a good one. But who is gonna be there to tell you what to do if you have to take over? A scripted speech won't "shake up Wahington" and accepting what people "make you say" doesn't make you a maverick.

Vincent, Great Lakes, Illinois   October 17th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

How ignorant can these fools get? Do they honestly make over $250,000 a year, so that they have a right to be worried about Obama's tax plan? Probably not. Do they really want to align themselves with a man, "Joe the Plumber", who owes back taxes and does not have a plumber's license in violation of statute? Puuuuleeese. Get a grip folks, grow and pair and stop acting juvenile. Not McCain plants? Hmmm.

Nancy, CA   October 17th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

The earth must be moving. I can't believe I actually agree with Sarah Palin for once. Give it a rest, folks, and get rid of "Joe the Plummer." Robert Belair   October 17th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Joe the plumber has no been shown to be a fake. First of all he has no plumber's license. Secondly hia name is not Joe, its Samuel. Thirdly, he makes far less than the $250,000 dollars a year that McCain used as his tax bracket.
Nice try John, but you are full of it again.

Lee   October 17th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

A bunch of dummies. "Joe the Plumber" was a Republican plant all along. It kind of fits since he doesn't have a license for plumbing (doesn't believe in regulation) and is a tax cheat where he is being sued on back taxes.
The only argument left for McCain is that he is not black. Nothing else is left.

Eric   October 17th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

From October 6 through October 15, CNN aired at least 54 segments mentioning allegations that ACORN submitted allegedly false or duplicate voter registration applications this year in a number of states.

Problem is, CNN failed to mention:

A) Acorn is obligated by the state law to submit those applications, even if they know they are suspicious.
B) Registration fraud rarely leads to voter fraud, something CNN does not even differenciate.

I do not see any ticker about his. 54 times, you badly reported the news. (without suprise, Dobbs is leading the dance.) Are you going to explain this?

Hey CNN – Perhaps you haven't noticed, but Obama is ahead in the polls, not McCain…why is every single one of your articles today pro-McCain and anti-Obama?

Trying to follow in Fox news' footsteps of extreme bias? Or are you trying to influence the polls to keep the ratings up?

ho cares about plungers? How about reporting on the two Obama supporters that were beaten up at a McCain rally yesterday? Or would that tarnish the image you are trying to project for McCain?

Honestly, with a slogan like no bias no bull, you could at least pretend to keep it fair, even if it is in your corporate interest to see McCain elected.

Enough already with this political theme. I live in Canada where plumbers make $70.00 bucks an hour, $100.00 for after hours. They are not hurting trust me! McCain screwed up "joes" name and he isn't even a plumber!

Joe the license-free, tax-owing Plumber, that is. The plumber who, coincidentally, happens to be Charles Keating's grandson. The plumber whose dad did time for his role in the Keating S & L scandal. The plumber who earns $40,000/year and would clearly prefer Obama's tax plan — if he were genuinely an "undecided" voter as opposed to a Republican plant.

Anthony, Dallas, Tx   October 17th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Do yall make over $250,000? If so, you have an argument, if not shut up and go home.

KJL   October 17th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Someone should point out to these men that a FAKE plumber was planted by McCain. He's making them look like fools.

AmericanFeminist   October 17th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

I don't get it. What are they protesting with the plungers and tee-shirts? Haven't they found out yet, that Joe the Plumber is a fraud?

wait a minute   October 17th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Interesting! I recognize the road, but not the people. But I am very glad to see young people getting involved in the political process. Roanoke, a historic town, will remember Obama's visit.

jb   October 17th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

This whole plumber thing just makes McCain look more foolish/senile. The guy was/is a total fraud and plant. No wonder Palin wants to suddenly move on.

adg   October 17th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

These must be guys who dont pay there taxes either or get there facts checked that Obama is giving them a tax cut!!! so sad!

Bring America Back!   October 17th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Joe-the-plumber is just another distraction. People, please keep your minds on the issues and not fall for all this fodder… There are more intelligent things to be discussed. Such as who is going to be the better POTUS come 2 1/2 weeks.

mmd   October 17th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

This is beyond dumb. I am at a loss for words. Hurry, Nov 4, goodbye mccain palin and joe the plumber..

Bill   October 17th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

wow. how do those guys run businesses that net over $250 000 a year and still have time to dress up in costumes and stand on the side of the road?

FAYE, NV   October 17th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

While they are there at the Obama rally maybe they will listen and see who has the better plan.

Obama/Biden

bridgette   October 17th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

They don't even realize that Obama's plan will help them. McCain has no plans to help them and actually no intentions to help them. I hope they see this picture and realize how stupid they look.

Stacy (PA)   October 17th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

The fact that they have to carry around plungers says it all considering McCain's campaign is in the toilet. LOL

Go Obama!

SB   October 17th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

Please tell me the tide is not turning back to McCain. This happens every election. Just when theres a chance for positive change, Lee Greeenwood starts singing "Proud to be an American" and the country caves to the inbred racist, cling to your guns and religion that is the reaso nwhy the rest of the world hates us. You may all get exactly what you deserve.

LF   October 17th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

I guess whoever wins will cary a plunger to unstop the negative direction in which we're going. Will it be Obama or McCain–Of course the best guy to win. I don't think it will be Ralph Nader because his platform is environment and safe cars.

Obama will probably succeed according to the present polls, and Powell will probably endorse him. 19 days left, so get out the vote America.

David from OHIO   October 17th, 2008 12:52 pm ET

If you the real Joe the plumber, earning the average wages for the plumber, Obama tax cuts will definitely benefit. YES that is TRUE.

Big Blue   October 17th, 2008 12:52 pm ET

As a Plimber myself I like this and to my brother plumbers out there…. Stay Stong and let's get Obama elected.

Matt   October 17th, 2008 12:52 pm ET

Hehe…McCain and Palin need to distance themselves from that goof they planted at an Obama event and their supporters are going to ruin it for them.

Stupid is as stupid does   October 17th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

Joe was a fraud, and was a Republican plant that is starting to backfire.

Elaine   October 17th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

For once I agree with Palin about being tired of the Joe the Plumber fixation.

AudreyMarie   October 17th, 2008 12:50 pm ET

McCain has become desparate and sleazy. I received a robocall about Obama and it should be illegal to do this and lie. Can this be stopped. McCain you are a sleaze . I have no better word for you. Instead of knocking jdown a man why don't you stand up like a man and talk positively about what you will do for our country besides negative talk. This is worse then pig with lipstick talk. I am ashamed of you John and you have lost my vote.l
And palin we all know she lies. But this is not how to win.

Kevin   October 17th, 2008 12:50 pm ET

is the plunger a reference to McCain's campaign going down the tubes?

Bulldog   October 17th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

These guys need to do something useful like unclog some toilets.

Eight Is Truly Enough   October 17th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

I wouldn't get too cute with those plungers guys. Good old Joe has turned into "Say It Ain't So Joe" . LOL By the way…Palin can make SNL but not Meet The Press? Now THAT'S a real story.

Rick Maryville TN   October 17th, 2008 12:48 pm ET

I believe they should be using those plungers on the McCain campaign that's in the toilet.

SG in SD   October 17th, 2008 12:48 pm ET

"The new symbol of the McCain campaign: the plunger."

Perfect!! Because McCain/Palin are going down the drain!!!!

Matt   October 17th, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Why doesn't Sarah Palin like Joe the Plumber? She loves Joe Six-pack. What gives?

j   October 17th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

I bet they aren't real plumbers either. McCain the fraud, perpetrating a fraud that was so easy to uncover. Joe "the plumber" as it turns out isn't a plumber, isn't interested in buying a business, owes back taxes, and only makes about 40K a year (not 250K). He would be better off under Obama's tax plan, if only he were smart enough to figure that out.

JD   October 17th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Well, if they were truly Joe the Plumber, they would realize they would be saving money under Barack's plan, just like he admitted today.

Mary   October 17th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Of course, Sarah Palin is tired of Joe the Plummer. She is jealous of the spotlight being on someone else. She likes being the center of attention and wants the spotlight to be focused on her.

Kate   October 17th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Wow…just, wow.
