Who has campaigned more in the 'real Virginia'?

(CNN) – McCain adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer made a splash Saturday by drawing a line between northern Virginia and “real Virginia,” which she said is the “part of the state that is more Southern in nature,” a comment that may not sit well with the many residents of the commonwealth residing north of Frederickburg.

Using Pfotenhauer’s definition, however, Barack Obama and his running mate Joe Biden have out-campaigned their Republican rivals by a significant margin in “real Virginia.”

Obama has made nine campaign stops in central, southwest and southeast Virginia: in Martinsville, Lynchburg, Chester, Chesapeake, Fredericksburg, Lebanon, Norfolk, Roanoke and Newport News. Biden has made two: Castlewood and Fredericksburg.

By contrast, McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin have only ventured out of northern Virginia twice. On Monday, the pair held a joint rally in Virginia Beach, and Palin then continued on to a campaign stop in Richmond.

McCain’s rally Saturday was in the northern Virginia town of Woodbridge, home to thousands of Virginians who commute up to Washington, D.C. every day on I-95.

The Repub campaign just needs to STOP now before they alienate everyone in their path. I live in NC, will vote for Obama, and I don't believe Greensboro is any more 'pro-american' than the southeast part of the state. McCain's brother has already referred to part of Virginia as 'communist county' and now the bobblehead spokeswoman further divides the state into the 'real' Virginia and...what...the fake Virginia?

    Hey,

NVA has been "different" for a long time now. When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s in NVA there was always talk about NVA secession from Va because people up there did not like paying all the taxes for the rest of the state.

Plus, all you have to do is look at the traffic and the population shifts (my aunt's old place in Annandale is now a gangland for M13). I wonder if they'll all vi=ote for Obama...

Oh man! It's going to cost a lot of money we don't have to re-do the flag to include the 51st state of ' Fake Virginia'.

I had no idea that the United States Of America contains four Virginias

    RealVirginia
    West Virginia
    Communist Virginia
    &
    Fake Virginia

I would guess that Palin would suggest that the "real Virginia would join Alaska" in leaving the "not real-Virginia" and forming their own country called RUSA or the Real United States of America. Maybe she can get the proAmericans from small towns to move there...but not my town of 7,000 here in New England. But I guess the original 13 states aren't real Americans unless we hunt Moose from a plane.

  8. Gerry in Va. for Obama.

Virginia is going BLUE this time around. We are fed up with all the negative junk the McCain people are putting out and we want our country back so that President Obama can take it ahead to a better time. We in Virginia know President Obama will make us proud once again to have a leader who is loved by the whole world and knows how to behave with dignity and treat other world leaders with the respect they deserve, certainly if not for their persona then for their position. It will be good to have other world leaders look up to our president once again instead of thinking he's a stupid bozo with a big arrogant mouth.

    Go Obama/Biden

The straight talk express has become a disaster in direct proportion to the leadership it represents. Sorely misguided and clueless about the 'reality' of american people. They should all be muffled from ever speaking again... their strategists must be living in the past.... we are beginning the welcome end of the blundering Bush/Cheney error....

and those knucklehead operators are still thinking fear & terror will win another election.... dumb, out of touch, out of tune with the 21st century.

Another fine example of McCain's "experience and judgement" at work. He seems to like surrounding himself with these "Stepford Wives", can you imagine Ms. Pfotenhauer, with her Masters degree in Economics from Liberty University, providing economic policy advice to the POTUS? That would be even more of a problem than Gov. Palin as VP.

You know, since we all live in the same country and everybody wants to talk about what is "real" or not, I'll tell you what's real...

Here, in my home state, our state nickname is called, "Land of Lincoln." And do you wanna know what's "real" about that? The "real" thing about that is that Illinois is loved by God, for God, and with God.

    Now that's a "real" state...

More "us versus them" tactics designed to win an election by dividing us, resulting in a president who has to unite us in order to govern. This is a cynical, despicable strategy that may win an election but can defeat a presidency before it can begin. Short-sighted stupidity that seeks short-term gain for self by sacrificing the long-term good of the nation. If this tactic puts country first, then Sarah Palin is ready to be added to Mount Rushmore.

Obama had over 100,000 people at his rally in St. Louis today. Yet for some reason there isn't a word about it on CNN. How bout some fair and balanced reporting. If Palin had that many at a rally we would be blasted with it for days.
