Who has campaigned more in the 'real Virginia'?

(CNN) – McCain adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer made a splash Saturday by drawing a line between northern Virginia and “real Virginia,” which she said is the “part of the state that is more Southern in nature,” a comment that may not sit well with the many residents of the commonwealth residing north of Frederickburg.

Using Pfotenhauer’s definition, however, Barack Obama and his running mate Joe Biden have out-campaigned their Republican rivals by a significant margin in “real Virginia.”

Obama has made nine campaign stops in central, southwest and southeast Virginia: in Martinsville, Lynchburg, Chester, Chesapeake, Fredericksburg, Lebanon, Norfolk, Roanoke and Newport News. Biden has made two: Castlewood and Fredericksburg.

By contrast, McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin have only ventured out of northern Virginia twice. On Monday, the pair held a joint rally in Virginia Beach, and Palin then continued on to a campaign stop in Richmond.

McCain’s rally Saturday was in the northern Virginia town of Woodbridge, home to thousands of Virginians who commute up to Washington, D.C. every day on I-95.

"Real Virginia", "Real America", "Real Americans", really stupid! John McCain and the Republican Party need to understand that their divisive politics is not playing outside the base. I resent the implications of their statments that those that don't share their beliefs are somehow not the patriotic Americans that they are. How can you claim to reach across the aisle when you are doing nothing but dividing the country between "real" and the rest of us. His campaign is becoming surreal. Stop the nonsense!

They also believe there is a pro-America America and, by extension, an anti-America America.

There is a candidate in the race, however, who thinks we can live in the UNITED States of America.

Could the McCain/Palin debacle go any further in trying to inject racist into this campaign. They offend me more every time they open their mouths anymore– and I'm as white as they come. But they keep throwing their subtle little jabs out there that I find extremely offensive and disgusting. They don't have anything substative to say about policy or issues, so they keep throwing out garbage to try to incite whatever bigoted support they might be able to stir up.

First it was "Pro America" and now it is "real Virginia". I thought we were all Americans. Sends a clear message to me that the Republican Party does not consider anyone who doesn't think like they do to be "pro America or Americans."

Northern Virginia must be one of those anti-American parts of the country that Governer Palin alluded to.

So now according to McCain/Palin campaign is only "real Virginia" is "Pro-America"???

    The republicans are really trying to divide this country...aren't they. "Good guys...bad guys"..."Pro-America v. Non-Pro America"..."Real Virginia v. Non-Real Virginia"..."Christians v. Non-Christian..."

What's next??? Separate water founds for democrats and republicans.

I'VE HAD IT WITH MCCAIN AND PALIN AND TRYING TO DIVIDE THIS COUNTRY!!!

Yeah, McCain's running scared in VA. With Dem governor, it's a state the GOP can't cheat in. It's also the reason why the networks are planning for a very early election night. Obama will win the election once VA is called. Makes me smile.

How easily we give way to the same brain washing and fear tactics of republicans. It's as if no one remembers the last eight years. Everyone knows the candidate that won't sell what's left of the country to the highest bidders.
I see it coming though, because too many of Americans refuse view past 18th century life, it's 2008, and if we are going to regain the edge Americans once enjoyed, we'll have ensure that every American gets a fair start with the best of everything. After the last debate, I changed the channel to listen to all news reports, CNBC, FOX NEWS, and MSNBC and so on.
I heard about Joe the Plummer and how Obama would spread his wealth, but I did not here Obama's response, that small businesses would not be penalized but get credits, and that the wealthy companies would be encouraged to discontinue gorging themselves while there employees work for next to nothing. When are we going to open our eyes.

Real Virginia? Pro American states? Palin, McCain and the rest of the republican party it seems are willing to bring back segregation, separate but equal, and riding in the back o the bus just to have a shot at winning the presidency. After these individuals lose the election, they really need to stop and look in the mirror. Dont be surprised if you see your eyes looking back at you from behind the sillohuettes of a white hood. You really should be ashamed, but probably are not.

Go ahead and keep showing that your real intention is to divide Americans even more than Bush has. You are a dysfunctional man McCain. The thought of Presidential powers alone was more than you can handle. You do not have the temperment to make the judjements and decisions that America needs from it's President. America wants to thank you for letting us interview you during the primary and this general election campaign and we wish you luck in your next mavericky adventure!

  24. GOBAMA!

I am sick of this "real Virginia" and "pro-America" crap from the McCain-Palin ticket. If by "real Virginia" and "pro-America," they mean we backed Bush, well then, no, thank you, I am GLADLY not "really" from Virginia or really "pro-American." In fact, while I should find it insulting that the McCain campaign is using these far-reaching, generalizing, and DIVISIVE terms, instead, I actually feel relieved that they know people like me are NOT for them or for their policies.

GOBAMA-BIDEN 2008. It is very scary to imagine another four years with a pro-war president. Please, America, please, Virginia, step it up, and let's vote in the best candidate: BARACK OBAMA.
