I think something has gone awry with Colin Powell's reasoning ability.
Sarah Palin has more political experience than Obama and if there's any doubt about Obama's socialist leanings, please review his economic plan. If redistribution of ewealthg is not socialism, then I sure don't understand the concept.

To the folks who buy Palin's spew:

The more you make, the more you pay. As a result of your greater payments, people in lower tax brackets both pay less and have access to greater services (such as tax credits, affordable healthcare, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, decent roads, national defense, etc.) That's called a "progressive income tax," because as you go higher up the income ladder, the burden (in theory) is progressively higher.

Don't like it? Do away with the tax code. I just hope you like living in an unsafe building and defending yourself and your belongings every day, since there won't be little things like police, firefighters or building code inspectors.

Also, don't call people making $250k a year "hard working" as a group. Many of them are earning that off of trust funds or other investments, not the sweat of their brow - like one Cindy McCain. A huge percentage of this group are also people like lawyers and doctors whose salaries have skyrocketed over the last 15-20 years without a demonstrable increase in their talent or work ethic. Trust me. I saw my salary more than double in 7 years, and I wasn't suddenly doing twice the work. Some people are real innovators and work hard - but many just had better options and opportunities.

Could someone please explain to me why there is such controversy in this election? For the past 8 years we have had a Republican administration that has done nothing right. This administration has been the most corrupt and self serving pack of wolves ever. "It's the economy stupid" or is it the war...or education...or the wealth gap...or loosing all of our allies...or Katrina...or healthcare...etc

I am so amazed that she is now saying that the robocalls are wrong. She is the one that started the whole thing with her comments about Obama "palling around with terrorists". It's also unreal to me that anyone is criticizing Obama's fundraising. Like a previous poster said the money has come from every day, ordinary people that believe in what he stands for and want a REAL CHANGE! If sharing the wealth and taxing those over 250k more is socialism than so is the bailout. She's is a complete and utter airhead. DANGEROUS!

"There are hints of socialism in there," says Sarah Palin about Obama's very reasonable tax plan. Did she learn about "socialism" in McCain's debate camp, or in one of the six schools she attended while finishing her bachelor's degree in communications? Taxation is not socialism. Look it up in the freakin' dictionary, people. The Republicans are using the word "socialism" as a propaganda tool. Gets the low-info voter all riled up.

I agree that Bush has led the country down a path of difficult times with the Iraq war. However, I think that if any of you looked at what has been going on, you would see that it's the democrats and the Clinton era that's caused the bank crisis. They loosened up the credit markets to help the urbanites get approved for mortgages.

I busted my butt putting myself through college at night, working a job and running a weekend handyman business. Why should I pay for others to go to school? I served my time

Is Sarah Palin separating herself from the McCain campaign so she can blame them for their loss and set herself up to run in 4 years? I wouldn't vote for her, but she WAS funning on SNL both in the opening and Weekend Update.

Obama should take the white house. It's seems that's the only way people will understand how much he will ruin the country. If you like european ideals so much, go live in Europe. I like my America the way it is, faults in all. People want more economic security but aren't willing to pay the price of economic opportunity. You can't have both. Obama's plans focus on splitting the pie instead of making it bigger.
Jimmy Carter was going to bring change to Washington too. How did that work out for you?

Robocalls, my god, I hang up om everyone I get fron the RNC, and my Republican elected officials.

As for Colin Powell, I am glad to see he has finally cut his ties and started to speak for himself. Negativiity we do not need, solutions we do need, but if one has no solutions, no new policies all one can do is attacks those that do.

As to redistibuation of wealth, what has permitted the federal government to respond to economic downward motion in the past is federal dollars going into federal projects. But there are no federal dollars today, tax cuts to buisnesses and the upper 2% rather than fueling growth have gone right into the pockets of those that received them in the first place. Trickle down failed before and has proven itself a bigger failure this time around.

All I know is if Barack gets elected I can quit my job. Why work for a living when I can sit back and let the socialist take money from the rich and give it to me.

Remember the cold war?? Obama will turn this country into the old USSR, and as I recall their system didn't work too well.

Just voted in Florida- lines around the corner. Lots of young people and many of them wearing Obama t-shirts.

Palin is just looking forward - looser. Hopefully Nov 5, we'll be waving bye-bye to her and the "first dude." & family.

I can't believe this. This type of tactic puts Obama and his family at an even higher risk of danger. What if her family were being targeted for being secessionist???? And they were being threatened because now, the American people believe that they dont want to be Americans anymore. I pray for her...but I pray more for the safety of Obama's family who are they actual victims.

Linda. I am an unemployed IT worker who is possibly going to loose his house. I donated to the Obama campaign 25 dollars which I could not really afford. This middle aged white, former U.S. Marine war vet, Former Republican did so because he believes in Mr. Obama’s message. We need change and we need change now. And this is my first time in my 28 years of voting eligibility to donate to any campaign.

Lets take the 10 billion a month and get Americans back on track.

One more thing about Palin-

Her debate broke records in viewership (no way people were watching for Biden)
Her convention speech broke records in viewership
Her Sat night live was the most watched in 14 years.
She has a 80% approval rating in Alaska.
There are more that want to see her than not.

She is a formidable opponent.

In the last 6 days I've gotten 4 RoboCalls from the RNC. One was recorded by Palin herself to "invite" me to hear her speak locally. Dealing with a family member having health problems and keep running to the phone for this garage. There should be a do no call list for this crap. Now McCain himself is coming.... time for more crap calls.

Linda, people like me decided to support Obama with my monthly small donation as many others have. McCain made a choice to use government tax dollars for his campaigne. So if, what you are saying about Obama then why is it that McCain is using government funds is okay.

It's nice to finally have something to agree with Palin on. The robocalls are too much, from either campaign. The odds of an automated call changing a vote to be for you never out weighs the risk of annoying someone into voting for the other guy.

As for Socialism, I think I'll be brave enough to not hide under my bed this time. ;-) You can mock Obama's plans as Socialism all you want. You can point to Canada and the UK's Health Plans as Socalist ideas that Obama is aiming for. But why is it that report after report show that the countries with "Socialized" Medical Care have better medical support for their citizens. We're at the bottom of all the lists. The worst Industrialized Nation for Education, Health Care, Environment, Infant and Birth Mother mortality, etc. Oh sure, we have the best Medicine in the world for the 5% who can afford it. But what about the other 95%? "Socialized" Medicine is a risk I'm willing to take. Our Heath Care rankings have no where to go but up.

These tactics reek of desperation, and they are backfiring, as they're helping push people like Powell to endorse Obama. When this is the best attack you've got, you know you're in trouble. Of course, who can blame them for trying to leverage cheap, debunked scare tactics again...

Something tells me she's planting seeds to begin her own campaign in 2012. At the end of the campaign she's expressing differences with her running mate???

Seems like a potential run to me

CNN who writes your headlines for these stories? They are so mis- leading because of the way they are worded. Palin isn't attacking Obama comment, she's attacking her and McCain's comments about Obama. The headline should read "Palin attacks John Mccain on robo calls, Campaign not on the same page".

Palin is the laughter America needs right now. Unfortunately it is at her and Joe the plumber express.

But think about what they each have in common. "John McCain"!!!!

JM thrushed them into this campaign and then he blames the Obama campaign.

SNL has it best rating in history....why? Again, because we need to laugh right now to keep from crying and Gov. Palin is the joke.

The VP debates and SNL rating were that high b/c we enjoying laughing at the expense of others.

Palin could leave...and Joe could sit down somewhere...but no they insist on staying. So I will keep tuning in for this Comedy we call news.

I cannot refer to McCain and Palin as Republicans, as I don't want to insult those who are discerning, intelligent people. I don't see the McCain -Palin campaign as Republicans, but rather some distorted, slightly facist version of it.

I cannot believe we set the bar so low with having Palin on the ticket. Truly, what were we thinking? Who wants an "ordinary person" running for one of the highest positions? It feels surreal.

Anyone who even remotely believes that this woman should be allowed in the white house should sue the the school system that allowed them to graduate, regardless of the level of education.

The only difference between Palin Bush is body parts. Ahhhh, and most of you think he did a good job too...

Hate Obama all you want, just be honest about the garbage you are supporting. Just one of you be honest and tell us you are voting republican despite the candidates that are running.

I knew people would think Colin Powell endorsed Obama because he is a black man. However, nothing is being said about the white people that endorse McCain or the White women that are voting for McCain/Palin because Palin is a white woman.

Countdown to Nov. 4th! Enough of this! McCain I would suggest stopping the use of smear tactics and using the remaining time before election day to try to restore your image to it's former "glory". Right now it's in tatters AND you are definitely not winning the White House. A lose, lose situation??!

I am against these robo calls that McCain is doing. . They did not think about an innocent child who is home alone after school. The child answer the call and hear this mess. It will cause the child to be scared.

The parent do everything they can teach a child when they are home alone after school not to answer the door because the parent have a key. The phone is a child lifeline left home along to the parent. The innocent child is waiting patiently for the parent to make it home safely. Now the robocall is out and the child could possibly answer the phone and hear this terroist mess.

What were the McCain caimpaign thinking? The McCain camp seized to amaze me on their judgement.

The world is dangerous enough and could possibly have an innocent child crying home alone.

They need to stop it immediately and think about who will answer that call.

Sara is one hateful lady. The sad part is, she is merely a parrot...that mimics what she is told. In the event that something happened to McCain (if by a long shot he wins the election) is that if something happened to him. She'd be the President and her husband the shadow president...now that is scarey.

If one of her supporters actually do harm to Senator Obama after hearing on of there robocalls do she know that Gov. Palin along with Senator McCain will be guilty of this crime as well.. Along with the RNC that agreed with the type of media hype.

Asked if she thinks the government’s plan to inject billions of taxpayer dollars directly into troubled banks amounts to socialism — a belief held by many conservative legislators, talk radio hosts and bloggers — Palin said, "No, I do not."

Sarah Palin is an idiot. Does she understand marketing campaigns at all?? You do robocalls and TV adds because it reaches a large number of people in a short amount of time, and while not everyone pays attention, there are the undecided voters who will listen to an add or a phone call that might sway their vote.

On that note: STOP LOOSELY TYING OBAMA TO AYERS and other crap like that. It comes off as petty.

And way to openly disagree with your running-mate's campaign, that shows some real unity there.

Palin said "I believe that there are those measures that had to be taken by congress to shore up not only the housing market but the credit markets also, to make sure that that’s not frozen, so that our small businesses have opportunities to borrow, and that was the purpose, of course, and that part of the bailout and the shoring of the banks,"

HUH?!?!? This is not even a cohesive sentence. We've had one retard in the White House, please don't make us have to endure another one.

Palin is an english teachers nightmare. This is a runon and a fragment all in one. If this is the best and the brightest America has to offer, God help our school systems.

Colin Powell endoreses Obama because of quoute "his ability to inspire Americans", that makes alot of sense. Guess he couldn't come up with anything more credible. Another obvious example of people of color sticking together.

Sounds like she is trying to distance herself from McCain. Probably a good idea since she wants to still have a career in 16 days...

Palin's trying to save what remains of her political career, and keep up her aspirations of a future presidential race.

America is too smart to tolerate her any more. Goodbye, Palin. You won't be missed on the national scene.

"old conventional ways of campaigning" don't include robo calls. This is a relatively new and very annoying tactic that ought to be outlawed. Kind of like Sarah Palin.

This is laughable. The words came out of her mouth, and the entire strategy backfired. They are back pedaling the situation and it is much too late to lie and back out of it.

The Republican Party is nothing but a bunch of Crooks just like Nixon, he just got caught. I was a republican/independent up to this point in politics; I am now a independent/democrat thanks to:

-Bush / Cheney and their lies (they called it bad intelligence) to get us into Iraq. Afghanistan is justifiable for the terrorist camps they had there. The reason we have not found Bin-Laden…Republicans could not justify being in Iraq. Once he is found the American public would have closure on a tragedy that affected us all- 9/11. And lets start not having any politicians except the President of the Untied States speak during the remembrance of this event. And lets start use it to remember our dead, not to use it as a scare tactic for political reasons as the Republicans have been doing since that day.

-Thanks to the H1B visa, this allows foreign visa workers without a green card to work our American jobs (engineering and IT in general). I am now a unemployed IT worker and getting ready to los my house.
These companies used contract job shops to supply the H-1B replacements. The companies could claim they did not apply for H-1B visas and the job shops could claim they had not fired any U.S. workers. Thus, the employer could openly and legally replace their U.S. workforce with H-1B workers. TRW is a fine example of this using a company called Satyam (the Indian Parent). The pay check came from NJ but the HR was in Indian.

Palen IS the worst choice the Republican Party could have convinced John McCain to put in place. They wanted to be historic, while putting the country in the rearview mirror.

We as a public have a responsibility. Hold our Politicians’ to their words.

Mc Cain for sure put his country first by serving and risking his life for the country. And We all really do appreciate and are forever grateful. Question does market still put country first? I don't think so. If Mc Cain Put Country First, He definitely would not have chosen Sarah Palin as a running mate. Unless he wanted to win first before considering the country...

Hey "stew"

First of all its "endorsement". Secondly, you suggesting Gen. Powel's vote of confidence was "racism" in fact, makes you sound racist, as if you believe the only reason a man would ever stump for a candidate he likes better is because they are the same color.

Get over it, man. Race doesnt matter in this election. Or at least it shouldnt matter to most Americans. Vote on the PEOPLE and their POLICIES AND CONDUCT. Not on the color of their skin
