The AFL-CIO endorsed Obama's campaign in late June 2008.

(CNN)—With less than two weeks to go before voters cast their ballots, the AFL-CIO launched a massive Get Out The Vote campaign Tuesday, targeting over 13 million union voters across the country in presidential, congressional and gubernatorial battleground states.

250,000 volunteers will disperse across the country in 20 presidential battleground states, including some “non-traditional’ key states like North Carolina and Indiana.

The efforts will also target 12 Senate races and 60 House races in an effort to secure a filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate.

The group, which has been targeting union voters throughout the campaign season, says it also plans to increase the volume of phone calls and door to door knocking in the key states, with an emphasis on veterans, elderly voters and gun owners, who are typically harder to contact.

According to AFL-CIO Spokesman Steve Smith, in 2004 and 2006 the grassroots organization had about 200,000 volunteers working in only 13 states. Compared to the efforts in 2008, Smith says they are targeting “more states and more House and Senate races than ever.”

These final efforts wrap up a $250 million grassroots mobilization which began in late June after the organization threw its support behind Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

McCain spends his time talking about things the American Public just doesnt care about. "Joe the Plumber" for goodness sakes. Give me a break. We have heard all of their rhetoric, "Maverick"- "Reformer", insuniating that Obama is a terrorist or that he pals around with them. Now they say he is a Socialist.–
Enough is enough and I think the American public has had enough of them. We dont need ABUSE OF POWER in the WHITEHOUSE.
I'm so glad early voting is showing good signs for Obama.

Rob   October 21st, 2008 11:05 am ET

To All of America,

Yes, please vote for Obama. We've been looking for the time to resume our attacks against you. Once you get Obama in office, he'll pull out of Iraq, and along with his pals Pelosi and Reid will send a clear message to the world that America quits, and won't finish the job. That America is a weak whiner. They'll destroy your so-called 'national security', and make things ideal for us to attack you again.

We, the evil-doers of the world, thank you for voting for Obama.

Of course they support a socialist, unions are a form of socialism.

Unions – the reason Made in America means crap. All unions do are drive up manufacturing cost and fill their own pockets with cash.

To Senator Obama our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family we sending prayers that your grandmother will recover enough to see you get elected into the White House.. God has plans for you and who better be with you than your grandmother and the rest of your family on that glorious day.

It still amazes me that people feel it is Bush that is responsible for the banking fiasco. Please read up on the subject before commenting and making yourself look as uniformed as you are.

Carter's dictate to Fannie Mae, (more government regulation!!!), to give loans to people who otherwise could not get them and Clinton's furthering that effort are the cause. Why did they force a path for the greedy Wall Streeters to pad their pockets? How shortsighted can they be?

Now we have a choice to choose another shortsighted individual that will over time make matters even worse. Sure he speaks eloquently but promising what he can't deliver, and if he does, makes everything worse is the wrong path.

I'll give you McCain isn't the best alternative choice, but if McCain goes back to his "deregulation" hard line we will be better off in the long run.

Or you can go with Obama and more regulation with bigger problems because of it? Congress is the problem and God help us if it is a Democratic Congress.

Also I find it hilarious that Biden is already preparing people for unpopularity that will come with Obama as president. Nothing like trying to lower expectations to what will really happen even before elected. Way to go Obama!!!

W. Gowern   October 21st, 2008 11:00 am ET

Jill Canadian   October 21st, 2008 10:58 am ET

To Jill American.
In our recent election our incumbent who was a shoo-in was beaten by 73 votes. Over 15,000 of us voted for two candidates who had no chance of winning and allowed a candidate we obviously did not want to win. Don't waste your vote. You don't want to feel like I do.

Lauren in Ohio   October 21st, 2008 10:57 am ET

I live in a small town in Ohio filled with mainly republicans. There are so many Obama signs around it really makes me happy. It amazes me how some of these people could vote for McCain/Palin. I drove by this shack of a house in the country with a McCain sign, if people would just study the facts they would see that Obama would do the most for them. As far as the McCain campaign everytime I see a commercial or hear McCain or Palin speak, I just hear desperation. It's like if one thing isn't working they move to the next....If we are elected we will balance the budget this term...if we are elected we will triple the value of your home in 2 years...if we are elected..we'll send everyone in the America, oh, excuse me PRO America a fruit basket...some of your repubs are so ignorant it scares me. Read the facts!

so why do most companies move their facilities and their jobs overseas? So they do not have to deal with unions. Thank you AFL-CIO. I don't think I will be following your advice. The only reason I am "union yes" is the union where I work forces me to be. Is no a no choice closed shop REALLY the American way? I think not.

Global J   October 21st, 2008 10:54 am ET

I'd love to know how McCain and Palin will spin this one. They've obviously been dipping into Cindy McCain's pill box if they think they are going to win this campaign, given the impressive coalition of forces opposing them.
If all the votes are fairly counted, this election should be a deserved landslide in favour of Obama and Biden.

Proud to be American   October 21st, 2008 10:54 am ET

We have to ensure we vote for Obama on the 4th.... my prayers go out to his grandmother, bless her soul. I hope that Barack receives a mandate from the electorate so he can totally dismiss Laurel and Hardy, ooop, sorry, mccain/palin. I didn't think at age 57 I would be this naive, but how can ANYONE believe mccain and palin regarding ANY subject?

anne   October 21st, 2008 10:52 am ET

Hey, ACORN were the people who brought the registration issues to the attention of the american people. It wasn't McCain though he jumped on it because it's all he has left. People bashing Acorn in posts on here have not educated themselves enough about what actually happened. If ACORN hadn't been honest in the first place about what happened McCain wouldn't have a lie to sell.

McCain wants to draw attention from the voter fraud he himself intends to commit. It's pretty obvious. What side has stolen the elections in the past???

OBAMA 08!!! Lets put the cheaters and liars out of the white house for good.

More support for Obama to shift the focus from this desperate, silly name-calling, misrepresentation, violence fomenting, etc. to something a bit more "substantial".

It appears the McCain/Palin strategy is to come up with a new nickname each day. I recall doing that in 3rd or 4th grade....

Don't gloat, Vote!

Send a clear message to the Republicans that their divisive politics isn't acceptable in America, that America is one unified nation – vote Democrat.

46 y/o Male for McCain   October 21st, 2008 10:50 am ET

Maybe if Obama looked in the mirror he'd find part of the problem. Ask yourself Democrats, how many millions has his campaign raised? He is taking money from people that can't pay their bills and can't pay their mortgages. The same goes for McCain, however, he has not raised near the money Barack has stolen from people that don't have it. Then again we could raise hell that Barack has taken $63 million from Muslims, Iran and Iraq. He ought to be taxed out the Kazoo on that dirty money. Barack Obama is the most anti American I have ever heard of. Biden is all ready making excuses for his shortfalls should he become the next President.

Barack Obama talks that people will have to sacrifice, well I sacrificed alot during the 2000 election. I am jewish and I didn't vote for Gore/Lieberman even though Lieberman is jewish. It would have been easy to vote for them-a real feel good vote. But I put the country ahead of the easy thing and voted for George W. Bush. I challenge blacks since we are at war and Obama has little or no experience to put the country ahead and vote for John McCain since he has much more experience and could make sure America is not a victim of another terrorist attack.

I guess it's OK for me to vote for Hillary.

As far as comparing the campaigns, both sides are targeting the other with all they have. The difference is that while McCain's claims about Obama, while factual have signifigant spin, Obama's claims about McCain are outright lies. Just go to FACTCHECK.ORG and see for yourself. Also Obama is running 3 or 4 times as many ads as McCain, so even if only a third of them are negative, he's still outnumbering McCain's negative ads by a healthy margin. Just goes to show what one can do if they go back on their word and throw lots of money behind their lies.

AFL-CIO – This organization gives ACORN a run for their money on corruption.

They take hard working americans money and give them pennies on the dollar for return. They then use their influence to goad members into voting for candidates that hardly reflect their best interest.

Why would a labor organization endorse a candidate who's economic policy threatens jobs? A poll of 75% large companies think Barack's Tax and Economic Policy will be a disaster. While you might disagree, it certainly makes me wonder about their intentions to expand business with such gloomy predictions.

Unions support Democrats. That must explain why unions went from 35% of the work force to 8%. And they will keep voting for Democrats who will keep targeting companies who will keep moving their businesses out of the US who will keep lessening the amount of union membership.

Unintended Consequences. On a good note, Obama can take money from whatever businesses are left and give that money to unemployed union workers.

No matter what side of the fence your on. If you're paying attention, and you're not a nut job, you got to be impressed by the Obama team.
These people are darn good.
Doing every right thing, coordinating their efforts with other groups, just really really well planned.
We need a president with that kind of team and leadership.
I mean that was what made Bush seem ok, he had a great election team, unfortunately that didn't amount to good governance.

TexicoFromMexico   October 21st, 2008 10:13 am ET

Please Post this CNN

Larry King stated last night that McCain promised him in July that he would have the VP of his choice on his show as is tradition! Palin has time to do SNL ( a stupid comedy) and she is not allowed to go on Larry King? Larry bless him asks softball questions, are they too tough for her to answer? CNN should demand that this promise is kept BEFORE the election!!!! CNN YOU NEED TO PUSH THIS!!!! WHY HAS SARAH PLAIN NOT TAKEN 1 HOUR OF HER TIME TO BE ON LARRY'S SHOW? WHO IS THE REAL SHARAH PALIN? WE DONT KNOW CAUSE SHE HAS ONLY GIVEN THREE REAL INTERVIEWS....WAKE UP AMERICA!! THREE INTERVIEWS AND COULD BE YOUR NEXT PRESIDENT! ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY???

STOP THE HATE   October 21st, 2008 10:13 am ET

Our prayers are with you and your Grandmother. . .

Everyone else. . . get out and VOTE for this man. He is good, he is kind, and most of all he is what this Country needs as a leader.

I can not even begin to express in words the absolute disgust I feel for Palin. McCain is bad, she is worse. She knows no bounds, there are no depths she wouldn't go to to get power.

BUT THE POWER IS OURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do the right thing and VOTE. Vote early!! You never know what might happen on the 4th and your vote IS CRUCIAL.

DAVE IN CA   October 21st, 2008 10:12 am ET

not to get off this subject but can someone from the democrats enlighten me on Joe Biden's golden goose he just laid for my choice John Mccain? i think Biden needs to explain if he has first hand knowledge of what could happen.... Pretty scary talk from someone with so much foreign policy experience... if Mccain is president i don't think anyone would test the U.S. but with OBama the muslim nations are ready to pounce to see who his allegiance is too

Get out and VOTE NOW! If you don't vote for Obama you have voted FOR McCain and Palin and she is dangerour with her AIP connections and she is the biggest socialist: Palin's Alaskan 'Windfall Profits Tax' is not only a 're-distribution of wealth'
(or 'spreading the wealth around' for all you Joe six-pack plumbers),
it is textbook socialism. In fact, the Alaskan system of Government and
it's financial sources (85% derived from Oil Companies) have more in
common with the former USSR than the USA.

DENNIS   October 21st, 2008 10:06 am ET

The campaign will get nastier, as the days go by. We must all excercise our right to vote. There will be constant attacks on a decent man who is about to visit his dying grandmother, and will not even be around to defend himself. We are at a crossroads in America. Those that choose hate, suspecion, division and sepearation will stop at nothing to disparage us. Carefully notice the crowds Obama attracts and the ones that Palin/McCain attracts. It is obvious that people who want nothing to do with others that are not like them want McCain to win this election. Finally, the ugly face of racism has surfaced for us all to see. It is a good thing, because we can now look at ourselves and decide if we want to move into the future, or squander the oppurtunity to become greater than ever. At this point, the United States of America, is anything but that.

undecided voter   October 21st, 2008 10:05 am ET

I am hoping that intelligent Independents and Democrats start to wake up and smell the coffee during this crucial final days. Who is much better qualified to lead because of his experience? C'mon let's admit it, we all know is Sen John McCain. Especially during these times of crisis. Noone takes away from Obama as far as his intelligence and elocuency to speak, but at the end of the day we know he will be going in all different directions, God forbid he is as the crack head of Biden said "TESTED"

God Bless America
John McCain / Sarah Palin mine & my family's Leaders

Reginald   October 21st, 2008 10:04 am ET

This is a corruption of America campaign. Look behind the 'Change' sermon and you will see a deceptive, manipulating machine intent on power. Do not give our country to this group! McCain/Palin will fight for Americans as they already have!

Virginia   October 21st, 2008 10:04 am ET

Every day these repubs sink a little lower. Palin infers that only the repubs are patriotic and the rest of us are not. Not only that, if we side with Obama, we are socialists or communists. How dare this vile woman say such things. I did all I could, I voted for Obama yesterday and wish I could go back and do it again on Nov. 4.

Bic from CT   October 21st, 2008 10:04 am ET

Obama will do anything to get votes. If he has to do it by stealing them ofrfraud, it really does not matter to him as long as he wins. I do not and will not trust him.

former republican   October 21st, 2008 10:04 am ET

every union voter should vote obama because if mccain gets in there you might lose your job to china.

Matt   October 21st, 2008 10:03 am ET

I am a USW member and work for US Steel. I strongly believe that Obama is the worst thing for americans. If you rember back in 1982 the Lay-offs well his Energy speach lead me to believe he will cut American jobs and raise taxes. This is a prime example of when the union needs to stand apart of the dems party and put our jobs and America First. Energy Independence for Osama is to stop Drilling and production of oil and Gas field products. This guy has a hidden agenda and it is not in the best instrest for the Union Labor force.Vote how you want but you were warned. USW AFL-CIO Member

Noah   October 21st, 2008 10:03 am ET

It amazes me that there are so many lemmings in the Unions of this country. Barack Obama is going to get rid of the "secret vote" Union members currently have. He is not siding with the "little people" that he pledges to represent he is siding with the Union thugs who want all of their workers to be of the same mindset and political persuasion. I thought the Dems were about diversity? I guess not in the case of diversity of opinion or politics. Hypocrites

Terry, Dallas Texas   October 21st, 2008 10:02 am ET

Oh come on. So it's okay for conservative and religious groups to rally the republican base but not for unions to do the same thing? Cry me a river right wing. Your days are numbered.

THE END OF AMERICA by OBAMA   October 21st, 2008 10:02 am ET

America wake up! By the time obama and the union bosses get finished with this country there won't be any jobs here.
This country does not need to be choked to death by the unions again.

This could be the first time in over eight years that we as a country can start doing some good for ourselves. We just need to get out and vote. Everyone needs to check within their respective states to make sure that they are still eligible to register to vote. Don't wait until it's too late!

I volunteer at an Obama campaign office and we had a gentlemen from the, dare I say it, PLUMBER'S union, come by to offer their membership's manpower for GOTV.

We have a chance, in this election, to resoundingly say NO to the hate-filled, divisive tactics of the McCain/Palin campaign and the GOP. You don't want to vote for Obama based on the issues? That's fine. But don't you DARE lie, smear and misrepresent and cause the sort of ugliness that we're seeing in this country for the first time in decades. We have to tell McCain, Palin and the rest of the fearmongers that never again will they find a voice in our election process.

Vote Obama/Biden 08!

Voters be ware!! I cannot imagine voters will vote for McCain/Palin after eight years of Bushes disasterous years. Who will forget Bush/McCain/Palin years. These are the years of wars, and total economic melt down. McCain said he is the one to lead us. He has already led us to our present situation with bush. Who is kidding? Can he do it better with Palin? He is a great Joke. Fellow Americans, please don't be fooled. This is not loyalty to a party time. It is save the country time. Get real. Vote for Obama!!

It's not Mccain that can't run this country. It's Palin. Why are there so many people cheering for her. I know most of them probably don't make $200,000, but they still want her to lead this country should anything happened to McCain. They vote for her and if they win, these voters complain about how messed up America is.

Bush was a bum and people voted for him to lead this country. He messed this country so badly that we will not recover it for a very long time.

Bush didnt care about America because he's rich.
McCain doesnt care about American because he's rich.
Palin needs to go back to Alaska and study up on politics

Are Americans that stupid?!

I voted for Obama last week.

Kudos to the AFL-CIO adn every other individual and organization working to get their neighbors to the polls, regardless of who you support (although of course, I hope Obama wins). Nothing says Democrat like punishing small businesses and over paying unproductive employee's who spend 75% of their time goofing off, and charge 500 times the amount it should cost to get the work done.

The sleezy tactics the unions use to force small businesses who cannot afford to contriubute to the union corruption is a display of liberal Democratic values at its finest.

I have heard from quite a few that when you work for a union, you can get yelled at and even fired if they find out that you are "working too hard". How many places who have refused to be ripped off by the unions ended up trashed and some even burned to the ground?

Just more proof that there is nothing more anti-American than liberal Democrats, no wonder they hate this country so much. The way the unions go about their business is a perfect display of liberalism, and goes along with the way most every liberal Democrat acts and interacts with people. Zero remorse for doing wrong and a devilish desire to harm people who have done nothing at all to you, that's a liberal Democrat. Come to a true blue area and witness the truth.

Nice to hear about something positive for a change. If we had only the McCain campaign to go by we would be scared of everyone and everything. Why such a big deal made out of people making over $250,000 is a waste of time and energy. Most countries have a system where the mor you earn the higher your tax bracket. The Republican party has never been there for the average Joes and now since they have nothing but fear, lies, and Joe. It is a joke to think this campaign will do anything for the average person as they have only started to care when their campaign went down the toilet and McCain put Joe in the media spotlight.Too little and far too late to believe they care.Obama has been for the average since day one !

The more voters anybody can get to the poll, the better it is for our democracy.

We really should revamp our tax system as well.
It's not working for either our voters or corporations.
Patching up here and there with more bills is not working.
We need a system wide repair job.
I hope both candidates can provide proposals for it.
Personally, I like a simplified tax system that tax the same rate for all beyond the state poverty level and then nationalize health care.
Perhaps we can no longer afford choice for our health care.

Too many brain-challenged voters have jumped on Obama's bandwagon, without really knowing where the wagon is headed. I think its headed down a narrow, winding, mountainside road and the axle is about to break and the wagon is going to tumble down the moutainside. Scary stuff, guys and gals! I'm a Democrat voting for McCain. That's bad, but that's how ill-suited Obama is for the job. I DO NOT want to post a "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain" sticker on my car, but I fear that is what is in my future.

Another day or two later he'll be back on the campaiging trail, so express your freedom of speech then...Can you hold it back until he is on the trail again? Give the Man a Break for now!!

Eric   October 21st, 2008 9:47 am ET

Are you seeing the blue wave? I have to admit, the idea of Bay Buchanan sinking in it makes my day. Did anyone see this woman made the case for more lies and hateful rethoric on King yesterday, saying it was the only strategy that had a chance of success. Let's see what the campaign will do.

After the maverick strategy, which fell apart with the bridge to nowhere and her experience as a mayor who left a deficit, after the Ayers link that was not there, after the false scandal about Acorn, now we have another strategy from the McCain campaign. Paint Obama as a big spender. Face it folks, he wants a tax ratio that is going to help 95% of working Americans. Isn't it a scandal?

And for those morons saying that it is welfare, remember this. This tax cut applies to hard working americans who, unfortunately, can not afford a decent living with a low salary. It does not apply to people who don't work. That's a big difference. So stop saying it is for couch potatoes, you just sound prejudiced and stupid when doing so.

Brenda   October 21st, 2008 9:45 am ET

READ THIS PLEASE:
9/11; WAR IN IRAQ,AFGHANISTAN;pursuit of OSAMA BIN LADEN; ENRON SCANDAL;OIL SCANDALS;CREDIT CRUNCH;;OIL PRICES; LEHMAN BROS....etc..ALL UNDER THE WATCH OF THE GOP including MCAIN AND PALIN....the list is endless yet surely, surely there are people out there in CRITICALLY THINKING AMERICA who still believe in the REPUBLICANS.....Surely, everyone must REFLECT . So then another 4 years of the GOP simply because YOU hate BARACK who by the way is WHITE and BLACK and is a GOOD CHRISTIAN.

SHAME on those who are BLATANTLY or SUB-CONCIOUSLY RACIST(the new phenomenon i've discovered). So up to now no-one believes WAR IN IRAQ=CREDIT CRUNCH? Its money being spent in Iraq-not tree leaves. Remember some Iraqis are also employed and paid in US$. Are there any returns to AMERICA?No! Instead contracts are given to CHINA.Then of course you believe MCAIN can change things after 28 years. Iraq has a budget surplus and America has a deficit. So then YOU voted BUSH against Mcain 2000. Bush turned out worse, so now you think Mcain will be better after all?
The CHOICE IS YOURS, YOU DECIDE!! IF YOU VOTE YOUR PARTY NO MATTER WHAT, You are brain-washed. BEST VOTERS ARE INDEPENDENTS because they think think think!!!!!

Don't you SEE something WRONG here ??We're in the worst financial trouble since the Great Depression,Obama and the unions are wanting to create good paying jobs by increasing the taxes on the companies,so they won't have the money to make payroll ,and their prices will go up making them less competitive in the market place,so sales will be down.

This is NOT change for the better, this will CHANGE just for change .

We the people are pleased that this candidate is for America and the American people not for slander and hurtful speak. Senator Obama addresses the issues of the American people which is what we need.

The fact of the matter is, with the efforts to "get out the vote" (and Republican't efforts to supress the vote), Obama is poised to be the next president of this country. This will be a refreshing change from the past eight years of tyrannical stupidity. It seems this nation is now coming out of the dark, and I must say, it's about time.

alvino   October 21st, 2008 9:38 am ET

John McCain did in fact vote against raising the minimum wage 19 times. This is fair game just like the ad about funding the troops that Lying John used against Obama, when John voted against them in another bill.

matt in pittsburgh   October 21st, 2008 9:38 am ET

what this article doesn't tell you is that most of the AFL-CIO rank and file votes Republican. One of those annoying little facts that get in the way of a good story.

Uncle Sam   October 21st, 2008 9:37 am ET

I think Joe could be a Republican plant.
Joe Biden, that is.

Isn't it a shame that there must be these voting drives. It is the responsbility of every American to vote and citizens should not have to be reminded of that.

As long as people can't be bothered or think neither is better than the other, it will continue to be the extremists of both parties who determine the election and not the majority of the American public.

Each vote does count and we must live up to our civic responsibility and cast the winning ballot.

have you all noticed that when ever someone raises the question about whether Palin is qualified to be the vice president and in the event has to step up to the highest office all her surrogates say the same thing except for the honest ones they say she electrifies the base have you guys noticed that thats all they say and the pundits settle for that answer. Well what is needed in the oval office is not some one whop electrifies the base we need some one who is competent to run this country i was wondering if anyone else notice how thats all they say she electrifies the base SO WHAT THEY NEED TO GET SERIOUS

Janet American Abroad   October 21st, 2008 9:33 am ET

There are many reasons some of us American live outside the 50 States.
And, after watching one of the most dividing and unethical campaign in regards of dividing the country, this can only confirm ones own reason.
In as far as illegal voting machines, racism, and the dividing of the people, rich and poor, religious beliefs, race, education, the list is endless....But, a light is shining at the end of the road, for those who are fed up with the nastiness of hatred towards others.

The media is the problem, in delivering the message and the viewers are the victims.

The Republicans have taken the Conservative Idea and placed it in the dirtiest corner of government ever seen in the political world.

Its about time the American Voters start enacting what ALL THE PEOPLE truly means.....looking for the inner truth and not hatred towards each other.....America has a long way to go in referring itself as The United States of America.....the Division is very strong with hatred and racism.....

We need a filibuster-proof Democrat in the U.S Senate. Early voting is the way to go.

Barack will win and thank God, we need to heal this country. For all you so called conservatives who tout your bible, guns and flag under the guise of being a Christian, while your hearts are wrapped in hatred remember all the hate and lies you send out it will return to you in some form or another to either you or someone you love. It's the law of life and it is inescapable. What goes around comes around.

Matt   October 21st, 2008 9:30 am ET

He barely needs to. McCain is going to do him the biggest favor ever by going back to the Wright commentary. McCain's desperate. he's out of weed and sifting thru the ashtray in hopes of finding a roach.

Ken in Dallas   October 21st, 2008 9:29 am ET

Whatever it takes to keep the Wicked itch of the North away from the White House.

Seriously, the Republican line is so far right this year that if McCain and Palin were to get elected, we'd end up with an openly Fascist government in the US this decade. These people are dangerously unbalanced, and they're incredibly poor losers, too.

McCain and Palin have mostly written off this election, and are pursuing a strategy to make the US ungovernable for the next four years.

Here is the Point   October 21st, 2008 9:28 am ET

VOTE ..... don't GLOAT.

With post election challenges ... this may not be over until January 21st.

Run through the tape ...

PHYLON BANGO   October 21st, 2008 9:28 am ET

TO all Republicans

When George Bush came to power the Slogan was; IT'S EITHER YOU'RE WITH US OR AGAINST US. With the lives lost directly or inderectly because of that slogan(iraqis, american servicepeople, etc), and the economy in ruins, are you still PROUD for having gone out to vote YOUR PARTY against the DEMOCRATS who had brought so much prosperity?

Amazes me how even in ZIMBABWE with MUGABE who has ruined the country, you still find those willing to vote for his party; in asmuchas there are still people in Amarica still voting Republican despite being reponsible for so much chaos not only in America but all over the world. Being a foreigner I am worried. The notion that the GOP is a party of WAR, race hate(Rmbr Bush executions) and they HATE anyone not like them, holds true.

Clearly to the REPS its a question of PARTY first COUNTRY last. Then their slogan of COUNTRY FIRST is in VAIN. If anyone is confused, let them look at the internet worldwide voting. Mcain has got only Georgia for him. Speaks volumes. THE CHOICE IS YOURS-don't perish for lack of knowledge

TIRED OF MCCAIN AND PALIN   October 21st, 2008 9:28 am ET

Barack, stay on track and we are praying for his grandma... Geesh! I know what my grandma meant to me...

Coco 5   October 21st, 2008 9:27 am ET

No dissrespect to the lovely Michelle Obama (who, by the way, I think is one of the most beautiful black woman in the country), but I am completely in love with Senator Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!! He truly touches something in my heart, call it hope, a crush, or whatever you like. I feel as though I could really trust Senator Obama. I admire the "Get out and Vote" message. That's where Democratics tend to fail, we talk about voting but don't.

"There are two types of people in this world, those who walk the walk and those who talk the talk. People who walk the walk, they sometimes talk the talk, but most of the time they don't talk at all because they're walking. People who talk the talk, when it becomes time for them to walk, you know what they do...they talk people into walking for them."

Jake   October 21st, 2008 9:25 am ET

The media bias of CNN, MSNBC and many others is disguisting. I hope you all get what you deserve. Barak Obama.

Obama/Biden '08

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   October 21st, 2008 9:22 am ET

It appears that Obama has been talking with Powell for much longer than we have been led to believe.
OR, Obama really took in Powell's position of Shock and Awe when first delivered in Iraq.

This mobilization of an army of focused people; this stewardness of money; this myopic attitude towards staying on message all bodes well for us should we have the end result of an Obama-Biden administration. Because what it says about Obama's organization is his team is very well organized and they march (with Biden's strange comment being reported yesterday notwithstanding) to one unified beat.

If that stays the same in an Obama administration, we have great days to look forward to again under Democractic leadership.

To Hillary supporters, I was disappointed with her tactics as the primaries got into late February and March on through to the end. But, she laid it out again yesterday in Florida that it took a Democractic president to clean up after a Bush and it'll take Barack Obama to clean up after this Bush.

Stay focused, talk about the irrefutable points and most of all, VOTE!!!!

Amy   October 21st, 2008 9:22 am ET

Good for them. Everyone needs to vote and make their voice heard!

Naema   October 21st, 2008 9:19 am ET

I am so happy to see Obama and Clinton working together despite the fact that others are trying to divide our country. When I watch the Mcain-Pailin rallies and I listen to radio host like Rush Limbaugh I become terrified at the thought of them winning the White House.

OBAMA / BIDEN 08

Jill American   October 21st, 2008 9:15 am ET

Lots of Independents in NJ. and lots of McCain signs too. But there are no Obama signs. Why? According to Obama's office they don't need to campaign here. If you ask for a sign they say no. Guess he thinks NJ is a closed deal.

I guess it's OK for me to vote for Hillary.

JohnWinNC   October 21st, 2008 9:14 am ET

McCain's problem is that in spite of his efforts to paint Obama as a "not one of us," elitist, terrorist, socialist, "celebrity," most of us prefer Obama to the unscrupulous, divisive, manipulative, and two-faced McCain/Palin option. As long as McCain wants the key election issue to be "the lesser of two evils," then he will be running as the underdog.

John in Ohio   October 21st, 2008 9:12 am ET

CNN says that the "race is tightening" in their latest poll of polls.

What they disregard is that, while undecideds may be breaking somewhat for McCain, Obama is, in that poll, at 51%. And he remains strong in the states he has to remain strong in. But CNN loves a horse race.

Kathy S. Cloughn   October 21st, 2008 9:12 am ET

This is key. If the younger voters and minorities do not show that will put a dent in the election of Obama. Young people and minorities: get out there and talk to your friends, drive people to the ppolls and we will have a better country for you in the future. Stay at home and we will have another 4 years of finfncial mismanagement and war!

It is important. GOTV!!!!!!!!!!

Cynthia; Bham   October 21st, 2008 9:12 am ET

Good, Senator Obama is going to need it. The GOP is like a bunch of rabid dogs at this point. They know that they are losing and will do anything to get back in the race. When it all boils down people will vote their wallets and pocketbooks and therefore we will have a President Obama.

Andrew Ashburn   October 21st, 2008 9:10 am ET

Let us all just hope that all of this voting is not rigged. There is no way that George Bush won the last 2 elections. The people did not speak then. A Bad Man has destroyed our Country. Look around. This is his doing. I hope this election is truly fair for the voters.

scoot   October 21st, 2008 9:10 am ET

Cool we can get even more zVoter fraud. Yahoo lets go for it

Barbara - 65 yr old white female in NC   October 21st, 2008 9:09 am ET

I'm a registered Independent, and I can tell you now that because of the negative, divisive ways of the republicans this year, I have voted straight democrat. I'm just as American as anyone else, and the insinuation from McCain/Palin is that anyone other than republican is anti-American. I resent that and they should immediately apologize to all of us Americans.

freddie   October 21st, 2008 9:09 am ET

I am a voter in Akron, OH (Summit county). I voted yesterday evening after work on Tallmadge Ave. and it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to everyone! The place is huge and the staff is very efficient and organized! They are open until 8:00 pm so everyone in Summit County, OH get out and vote early! You'll be glad you did!

Mike the American   October 21st, 2008 9:08 am ET

Palin, the Alaskan Independence Barbie, calls Obama a 'socialist?'

Palin's Alaskan 'Windfall Profits Tax' is not only a 're-distribution of wealth'
(or 'spreading the wealth around' for all you Joe six-pack plumbers),
it is textbook socialism. In fact, the Alaskan system of Government and
it's financial sources (85% derived from Oil Companies) have more in
common with the former USSR than the USA.

rm   October 21st, 2008 9:05 am ET

McCain and Palin are leaving these robo calls going out to homes where children are answering the phones and listening to the messages and the children are scared. What a sad, sad day when the republicans are willing to risk scaring little children to win an election. Bottom of the barrel campaigning.

Tim in NC   October 21st, 2008 9:04 am ET
