Firstly, aspiring to make $250K (or anything else for that matter) doesn't mean that you will be taxed accordingly. Actually making $250K does mean that you will have a tax burden in proportion to your earnings just like the rest of America. That doesn't mean the you aren't feeling the pinch of the economic crisis like the rest of us, but it does mean that you're probably not having as hard a time as the guy that makes $25K, who really needs a tax credit just for basic survival these days.

Secondly, no one's wealth is being "taken away" in order to be given to someone else. That's just a lie, or, excuse me - that's just the usual inaccurate Republican spin to scare people and create a very divisive spirit among the "haves" and the "have nots" in this country.

Lastly, this is the United States of America. No one is ever jailed for just complaining about anything. I don't know where you got that one from...

dejohnn – CNN is making the economy and issue because, guess what, it is an ISSUE!! 60 + percent of America thinks so!! U must be in that 40%.

No matter what you want to believe, we already live in a mixed economy, and it's a good thing, because if left alone, the free market will only benefit the wealthy at the expense of the greater society. The day "socialism" became a bad word was a disaster for the US.

It is a "bad word" because people do not understand it, that we already have it, and that is has been beneficial. And maybe if we let it have a chance in places like Latin America instead of killing it, instead of succumbing to irrational fear, we'd see good examples.

McCain's demeanor overall is "not presidential. There is something sort of neurotic about his presentation/appearance and the sneaky tone of his voice that is creepy. It's possible that he resents Obama's vitality, youth, and REFINEMENT. Also McCain's deterioration and age is very conspicuous – he totters around like rigormortus is setting in. He might have a stroke any moment, and that is scary – and he has not chosen a capable VP to take his place.

Your TAXABLE income is what you pay TAXES on after DEDUCTING EXPENSES.

This year my business will gross almost 500K, but my TAXABLE income will still be less than 250K.

AND if I'm fortunate enough to gross enough next year to have a TAXABLE income of OVER 250K , SO WHAT? I'LL PAY MY SHARE OF TAXES.
