Poll Update: Obama up by 9

Obama is up 9 points over McCain.

Obama is up 9 points over McCain.

(CNN) - Barack Obama appears to be widening his lead over John McCain as Election Day inches closer.

According to the latest CNN poll of polls, the Illinois senator now holds a 9-point advantage over McCain nationwide, 51 percent to 42 percent.

That's an increase of two points over the last two days for Obama and a reflection of several national polls that suggest the race seems to be headed in the wrong way for the Arizona senator with only a week and a half remaining.

Included in the latest CNN poll of polls are new surveys from ABC/Washington Post (October 19-22), CBS/NYT (October 19-22), Fox/Opinion Dynamics (October 20-21), Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby (October 20-22), Gallup (October 20-22) and Diageo/Hotline (October 20-22).

I will be the first to thank Sean Hannity for his over the top hatred of Obama. Voters saw right thru the ridiculous issues and examined Obama based on his credentials. While I don't agree with all of Obama's position, I do see him as a very good leader.

Having McCain demonstrate his lack of judgment help as well.

I think it is probably even a wider margin. Polling calls are made to land lines. Most college kids and many just out of college use only cells. They are not being polled that I'm aware of. Likely Obama wins by 10-12.

  4. Change NOW

we are all suffering now in all regions of this country...be careful of not helping others as you may be in the same boat shortly....

unless you are warren buffett who just lost ten billion he doesn't need...we are all in deep deep doodoo.....

we BETTER start reaching out to our neighbors and learning to be self-reliant...

it is one thing to sit in an office, another thing entirely to be able to survive......you can't eat your fake wood paneling in your office.....and you probably don't want to eat dirt like starving haitians whom we refuse to help....

I think a LOT of things are all snowballing back on us now....it is called karma, which we have ignored....

when it was cheaper to travel and the rest of the world didn't hate us, and there was no TSA strip-searching us, I have gone around the world and seen the way others live, and we just could not do it...in my opinion....gated communities do not exist, to put it simply...

with a rising gap between rich and poor, rich who could care less about other people, top 1%, do not be deluded into thinking you will be there one day, and look down at others....it is getting harder every day to just survive for everybody...

our independence helped us settle the frontier, now it is our downfall.....we need to be reliant on each other, not saudi arabia and not china.....or we will continue self-destructing....when money is worthless, who cares about stocks???? I have lost a lot but others have lost more.....

I wasn't greedy buying a house, but I should have sold all my stocks...that being said, traditional safe havens such as gold are now cratering as well....and our govt. still arguing whether we are in a recession and mccain says "the fundamentals of the economy are sound"...reality begs to differ, senator....

The woman who claims to have been attacked by an Obama supporter has a backwards "B" carved on her face. Emphasis on the word "Backwards" (Kinda like an idiot trying to carve the letter "B" in their face while looking in a mirror huh???

It sure is mighty neat for someone who was being pinned down by a black man, and carved on with a "dull" knife... She didn't try to turn her head or anything??? Or was he holding her down, both of her hands, her neck (to keep from swiveling) and her face to keep her still. He must have had 8 arms...lol

    What a farce...

  13. This is sad

The only reason that 95% + of people benifit from Obama's plan is because over 35% do not pay taxes and will get a free check for doing nothing. So he is in essence buying the presidency by getting all these people to vote in order to get the free money.

It is a smart winning strategy, however it is not right and I am shocked not 1 person in the media is calling him out on it (that I have heard of anyway)

Dear The Truth Speaks!: You said:

((% of the people in line are black. they say about 65% of them never voted before and they are only voting because Obama claims to be black. Of course we all also know he was biRacial at the beginning of the campaign. He bcame black inorder to gain thousands of votes.

Can I please correct you on your ignorant satement...the "black" people aren't voting for him because he's black, BLACK, WHITE, & BROWN people are voting for him because they are TIRED, and want REAL CHANGE! We are just tired & fed up, take that for what you will.

Obama didn't become "black" later in his campaign, he was born black. Even though his mother is white, remember it was our American forefathers who made the law that a "drop: of black blood makes you black.

John McShame is in Deep Do-Do. Not only is he losing the race but he is losing the bet he made with the devil when he sold his soul to win this election. He is doing every thing he said he wouldn't do. I am sure he will bring up Rev. Wright by next week. I'm sure Joe the plumber can get him a kitchen sink to throw at Obama.

Just imagine, McCain wins the Election, dies in two years..Palin takes over as President, She has to make a decision to go or not to war with Iran. She meets with all the 4 star Generals in the war room and have to give them instructions on what to do next, just imagine, sounds like a script from a comedy movie, doesn't it, it is not, think before you vote, This is a very easy decision for me, i'm voting Obama/Biden

I know why Obama is ONLY UP 9 POINTS it's because he has virtually no executive experience, wants to raise all our taxes and redistribute wealth(eliminating the american dream) and done nothing while being a US Senator either.Polls mean zilch , nada, zero , nothing!!!!! The people will decide like it has always been.

I am heartened. For the past several elections, I had become convinced that the American electorate is what the European community thought it was when their newspaper headlines after the 2004 Presidential Election proclaimed, "How Can 59 Million Americans Be So Stupid?!" In the past, we have allowed ourselves to be convinced that black was white.
