Poll Update: Obama up by 9

Obama is up 9 points over McCain.
Obama is up 9 points over McCain.

(CNN) - Barack Obama appears to be widening his lead over John McCain as Election Day inches closer.

According to the latest CNN poll of polls, the Illinois senator now holds a 9-point advantage over McCain nationwide, 51 percent to 42 percent.

That's an increase of two points over the last two days for Obama and a reflection of several national polls that suggest the race seems to be headed in the wrong way for the Arizona senator with only a week and a half remaining.

Included in the latest CNN poll of polls are new surveys from ABC/Washington Post (October 19-22), CBS/NYT (October 19-22), Fox/Opinion Dynamics (October 20-21), Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby (October 20-22), Gallup (October 20-22) and Diageo/Hotline (October 20-22).

The polls were exactly backward 4 years ago. They showed Kerry 51% and Bush 48% and they were flip flopped. I know you people want this really bad but Socialism is not where we need to head right now or ever. Yes, Obama is very impressive, but not presidential.

Those polls probably do not take into account all the new/first time voters who are mostly for Obama. Don't be surprised if he gets at least 60% of the vote!

    Dear "The Truth Speaks",
I am disgusted and outraged by such an ignorant comment. Obama "became" black to pick up votes? The Senator has been totally forthcoming about and PROUD of his biracial heritage. Yes, blacks are coming out in record-breaking numbers, as are voters under 30, as are an array of various demographic groupings. And maybe it does have something to do with his race. Maybe certain American people are proud to shed the ugly racist past that's marred this country's history. Or maybe, just maybe, they're voting for the candidate who stands for what they believe.

Don't worry everybody, Mr Obama will fix everything; he is the answer to all of our problems, yeah right!!!!! So many brainwashed liberals will have a huge wake up call if Obama gets in. I've already got my "I didn't vote for him" bumper sticker ready.

These polls are meaningless. They change everyday and different polls say different things. It would be nice if all the news agencies and official pollsters stopped reporting conflicting results every five minutes and just wait and see what happens Nov. 4.

Interesting, I heard the opposite, that polls are tightening. Can not believe anything you read now a days. Thanks to the liberal press the wants the Messiah elected, they even control the polls.

@ Truth Speaks ... he IS biracial. But only Limbaugh-like Republicans really care about his race. People like you divide this country, and it's why your candidate is losing. Barack's supporters are of all nationalities. Open minded Republicans (and Democrats alike) are reaching across the aisles and not seeing race. Your bigoted views are an old way of thinking. I'm a Republican and I'm voting for the Black, White, Biracial, man by the name of BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA! It's a new day. Get on the train, or stay behind.

"The AP Poll has Obama with a 1 point lead and invester's daily Poll has Obama with a 1 point lead and well, you see my point."

Look at the internals of the AP poll. It has McCain winning voters 18-24 by a 74-22 margin. Basically a complete reversal from the previous AP poll. I think it's safe to say they have some problems in their methodology.

For starters, P A L I N scares the heck out of me! I hate the thought of Annie Oakley in the White House!

That is why I am voting FOR OBAMA!

As with all elections, I vote for the one candidate that will be the LEAST LIKELY to run our country into the ground. The past eight years has brought us to an all new low – in the eyes of the WORLD!

We need to stop being the "Bully" and focus on our OWN country's issues – leave others for figure out their own messes.

America can be a world super-power again – We can do it together!

The choise is EASY – OBAMA / BIDEN for me!

    Signed,
    Former Texas Republican
