Poll Update: Obama up by 9

Obama is up 9 points over McCain.
Obama is up 9 points over McCain.

(CNN) - Barack Obama appears to be widening his lead over John McCain as Election Day inches closer.

According to the latest CNN poll of polls, the Illinois senator now holds a 9-point advantage over McCain nationwide, 51 percent to 42 percent.

That's an increase of two points over the last two days for Obama and a reflection of several national polls that suggest the race seems to be headed in the wrong way for the Arizona senator with only a week and a half remaining.

Included in the latest CNN poll of polls are new surveys from ABC/Washington Post (October 19-22), CBS/NYT (October 19-22), Fox/Opinion Dynamics (October 20-21), Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby (October 20-22), Gallup (October 20-22) and Diageo/Hotline (October 20-22).

Oh boy I can't wait....I can't wait....this national nightmare is almost over. Can you iamgine what things will be like in just a short year or so now once President Barack Obama is elected. I can see it now....terrorists will be setting off dirty bombs in our cities, the stock market would have plunged below 6,000.....gas prices will be back way above $4.50 a gallon.....most people will choose not to work because it will just not be worth it to work....small businesses will be boarded up coast to coast....Hugo Chavez enjoying himself in the Lincoln Bedroom......but then out of the darkness comes President Barack Obama and then he delivers the speech of his life....solving all of our country's ills with just those magical words......I will be so inspired....I can't wait....go Barack!

I hope for this country that election day will reflect the current polls. Republicans have all but admitted defeat, but there are lots of votes out there – lots of McCain stickers, lots of work to do if we want to see Real Change, and end to the Iraq War and Common Sense in the White House.

How can Obama be elected President if he isnt eligible? So far, he has refused to produce a live long-form original birth certificate showing he is a natural born US Citizen. Without that, he can't be elected.

I can't imagine how any intelligent, informed, and logical person could
cast their vote for McCain. He is far more dangerous than Obama. His dirty politics, lies, flip-flops, knee-jerks, and general instability are a clear indication of what his presidency would be like. God help us if he wins.

I hope and pray that Obama not only wins, but wins with a landside that this country has never seen............something no other White man has ever done.......to show all the racists in this country that there are more people that see Black and white as equals........and I am a white woman , and a senior citizen..........

It is all going in the right direction, but do NOT get overconfident here. We need to work hard all the way up until the last polling location closes.

AND, for all of those who can, vote early! Vote NOW!! Take the pressure off the long lines on election day. You may be willing to wait as long as it takes on election day to vote, but someone in line behind you may need to get back to work and might have to give up. Let's do what we can to make sure everyone gets a chance to vote!

  16. My word..

Someone here suggested Obama has an advantage over McCain because he is black..

This may be the most ridiculous thing I have heard yet..

I guess it shouldn't surprise me. What next? Obama eats small children?

You know, one of my fondest memories is tuning in election night on the Bush/Kerry campaign, to CNN and watching those shocked commentators wonder how on earth their polls could have been wrong and that George Bush actually won the election. What I don't understand is how the mainstream media can be so far out of touch with what the real people in our country support. And this deal on Palin's clothes just shows how deep you have to try and dig to find something to talk about. Can't wait for November 4! MCCain & Sarah 2008!

  19. NEOCONS FOR McCAIN

It's time for McCain to come out with more lies & attack ads.
No Republican has ever, won the WH without, lying in ads, portarying the democrat as non-patroitic.

    *** More war years
*** More tax-cuts for the Rich
*** More freedom for Wall Street
*** More Spying on the American people
*** Better healthcare for the Rich & healthy
*** More drilling opportunity for Exxon-Moblie
*** More tax-cuts for companies that ship jobs abroad

I will attack and obliterate Iran in my first year, and....
.......my girl "....Palin" will kill Rove V. Wade

    *** Neocons for McCain***

It's going to be a landslide victory for Obama and history will not be kind to Sarah Palin as it will be determined that she will have been the major cause of the wide spread and McCain's biggest gaffe!

Obama is going to WIN it will be between 5% and 7% "IF" all the Democrats turn out and vote. (ESPECIALLY the younger voter).
    WHY??
Because Senator McCain believes in trickle down economcs where it BEGINS as a DOWN POUR on Wall Street and ENDS as a TRICKLE on main street.
This is what we have been experiencing for the last 8 years!!!
IT DOES NOT WORK!!! And America is REJECTING the philosophy.
