Obama ad: Will you be better off four years from now?

The Obama-Biden campaign will roll out a new ad in key states Sunday.
The Obama-Biden campaign will roll out a new ad in key states Sunday.

(CNN) - Just a day after John McCain's campaign launched a TV ad attacking Barack Obama's readiness to lead in an international crisis, the Illinois senator unveiled a new ad Saturday that puts a new spin on the age old question: Are you better off today than you were four years ago?

The two-minute ad, "Defining Moment," will begin airing in key states on Sunday, according to the Obama campaign.

"At this defining moment in our history, the question is not, 'Are you better off than you were four years ago?' We all know the answer to that," Obama narrates. "The real question is will our country be better off four years from now? How will we lift our economy and restore America's place in the world?"

In order to "build the economy of the future," Obama says there has to be a focus on "urgent national priorities: reducing the cost of health care ... breaking our dependence on foreign oil ... and making sure that every child gets the education they (sic) need to compete."

The McCain campaign has fired back at Obama's new ad. “If Barack Obama is elected President, this may be considered the first in a series of 'defining moments' more commonly called job-killing tax increases," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

At a rally in Norfolk, Virginia, Saturday, Obama's No.2 discussed the ad and blasted the McCain campaign's tactics.

"You know how we’re finishing out the campaign? Barack is going up, instead of anything negative, we’re going up and laying out our plan to fix the economy. That’s what we’re running on," Sen. Joe Biden said. "What is the McCain campaign continue to do? They want to do anything but talk about the economy."

    in response to George,

It never ceases to amaze me how liberals in one breath can admonish one group of people for being "racists" and then in the next say something like this:

"the GOP, McSenile & Pailing continue to address Obama's skin color and other immaterial subjects that have absolutely nothing to do with running a country."

I guess only racism is bad, not ageism or sexism....at least not when aimed at a republican.

And tell me, when has McCain or Palin mentioned Obama's skin color even once? I must of missed it when I was listening to Obama mention it over and over and over again.

Seems skin color is an issue.....with the Democrats anyway.

They use as a way to stifle any criticism of their candidate.

You can't make an honest criticism of any kind without being label a racist. That my friends is racism in it's ugliest form.

    Kinda sad.

OBAMA SUPPORTER- I'm not ashamed to say why I won't vote for Obama. One reason is because he is BLACK, he has no expericence, can't get a straight answer after 20 months, deals with terrorist, listens to a preacher preach hate for 20 years, he, and his wife agree with, wasn't born in the U.S.and his name is BARACK HUSSIEN MUHAMMED OBAMA, ON HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS MUSLIM. nOW THAT'S A LOT OF REASONS NOT TO VOTE FOR OBAMA. iF YOU ARE THAT STUPID, YOU'RE HOPELESS, THEN VOTE FOR OBAMA.

Its almost SAD, that republicans in the end will ALSO benifit from Obamas plans and leadership, even though is my opinion they should NOT be allowed to since they are so obviously racist, full of hatred, and cant see the forrest for the trees....

Jefferson Values, how does the Anti-Communist understand Marx and Lenin without having read Marx and Lenin? And if he's read Marx and Lenin then, by your definition, he's already a Communist. So the Anti-Communist can't be an Anti-Communist without also being a Communist or at least having been a Communist first.

I'm not advocating for Marxism or Communism. And, um, neither are any of the candidates. But your post seems more like an argument against reading and intellectual curiosity than anything else.

Not if Obama is POTUS! :(

He will lead a global depression! And, invite a terrorist or international incident to test him according to Biden.

Iran wants him to win because they think he is a pushover!

Obama should take a job as a campaign manager because that is basically what his Saul Alinsky : "Rules for Radicals" method of community oranizing has trained him for!

    Tainopower,

You should join the Taliban or Al-Qaeda since they share the same core values you do: Ignore the truth and fight for ignoble values that the vast majority despises. You are a disgrace, and may God have mercy on your poor, pathetic, ignorant soul.

Ok, Democratic supporters..I'm titled caucasian and I'm not a racist I just don't believe Obama's share the wealth is right for America. Cutting a check for 40% of Americans won't help them get a job and help their families. Does Obama think $600.00 or even $1000.00 is going to support a family for 1 yr? Obama is not only naive about foreign policy he is naive about economics! Obama also wants to give billions to foreign countries. If Obama is elected he will put this country in big time debt. How do you spell arrogance? Obamapalooza! If you really care for America vote for a hero you can trust John McCain!

I'm starting to believe that this country is ready to start a new beginning. This day electing Barrack Oboma our president is our great destiny, the last hope for any kind of peace on earth. You know, the "Extremist" who really despise what we stand for predicted us to become devided so to a point that we become weak during this election because they look at us as hyporcits and we would not stand up for what is right. And we all know the right thing to do is elect Oboma. They predicted that our economy would fail, that was the message they sent by attacking the world trade center .Look at us today. They have that victory now their waiting for the second phase, our failure to not elect Oboma as president. We must not let that happen.McCain talks about "Victory" in Iraq and Afganistan, but what he doesn't understand is that he is not the one to bring about that victory and the world agrees,

Everyone needs to get off the birth certificate flap. Obama was born in Hawaii and has proved it. What about John McCain? Wasn't he born in Panama? Nobody complains about that.

You're all just trying to justify your racist hatred by trying to find some cheap way to justify not voting for Obama.

That's fine – you can vote for McCain – Obama has the support of the majority of American and WILL WIN on Nov 4th. If you can't handle that, I suggest you renounce your citizenship and go move to some other country because we don't need your hate mongering.

The real work begins on January 21, 2009, after (unfortunately) Barry is put in the White House.

It will be time for people to unite against the socialism at home/weakness abroad agenda. Nothing he says is going to be listened to. Nothing he proposes will be any good. Us versus them...no unity behind this man. He'll immediately and automatically be referred to "Worst President Ever". Fair? Maybe not, but it's a taste of the liberals' own medicine, and necessary to save America.

We ruined Bill Clinton's Presidency, and we can ruin Barry Obama's. People need to stay united, and stay clear on the prize...to first get rid of Pelosi and Reid starting in 2010, and Obama as soon as possible.

    Judge Orders Obama Campaign END

Hussein Obama was not a ‘natural born’ or ‘naturalized’ citizen and is ineligible to run for and/or serve as President of the United States.
“Judge Surrick then ordered the Democratic National Committee to cease all campaign activity on behalf of their candidate for President. He further ordered Obama be removed from all election ballots.”

Voting for Obama will not inoculate you from being a racist. I am a former Democrat that has no reason to feel guilty because I have never been a racist, so I feel good about voting for McCain because his moderate views and great track record of being bipartisan is what is best for America’s future. However, some people I know do plan to vote for Obama out of guilt, not because they agree with his very radical ideas. They will regret voting for Obama because his is no John Kennedy. Obama is the most liberal and partisan Senator in the US. He benefits from a biased press that allows him to not answer valid questions. It may seem to benefit you who desperately want Obama to win now, but it will work against you and your rights once he is elected. The press will be incapable of holding Obama accountable once he is president out of fear of being labeled racist for even asking follow up questions. Look at what happened to George Stephanopolis in the primary debates. Obama has failed to properly repudiate the current ideas of the unrepentant Ayers. Obama was not 8 years old when he served with Ayers on the Chicago Charity Board. Does Obama repudiate the racism he embraced for 20 years in the pew of Rev. Wright? I don't think so. Obama is a hypocrite that is saying whatever he can to get elected. However, when you look at his extremely liberal voting record, you will finally realize he is way to the left of 90% of all Americans. He is not qualified to represent America or to lead a united America, and he is untrustworthy because he has yet to tell the truth about his relationship with Rezko, Ayers, Wright, and Raines. All of these people are corrupt and we ought to be concerned about it—I see a lot of negatives here—Obama will not be good for the next 4 years. We need a real positive and honest leader like McCain who has nothing to hide and has served this country with honor. McCain is the best hope we have for the next four years.

Words are meaningless if you have not walked the talk! Check his record!

Actually, Governor Palin has accomplished much more in her servant leadership roles and is more experienced than Obama. She is authentic, smart, wise, humble, energetic, likeable, direct, transparent, a very quick study, courageous, tough and she has a strong moral center plus deep American values! She walks the talk! :)

I am a former democrat and Hillary supporter who voted for McCain/Palin 08! They are Americas only hope this election!
