I grew up in the 50s and was taught that credit was to be used only to purchase large ticket items such as homes and cars. Over the past 8 years credit has been used to purchase everything, ranging from food to vacations. We have been living in an inflated world (houses and stock market) and the bubble had to burst.

This, considering the panic he is under, is easy to understand when you consider that his running mate Sarah Palin has stabbed him in the back.

It's also evident because of the diminishing crowds he attracts while Sarah Palin draws larger crowds than he does and because of these factors among others I see a once proud man diminishing before our eyes. It's really sad....

The true irony however is that Palin won't win in 2012 either. People will remember how this disaster of a woman screwed any chance at all of gaining the White House

McCain and Palin are out of touch plans to do nothing about HIV/AIDS issue that is causing millions of people to die around the world.

Ever since the first tax was inacted in this nation we have been a "socialist" country when it comes to "redistributing the wealth."

You pay taxes to the government and it uses your money to pay for the military, for space programs, for food stamp programs, for highways, for welfare programs, for universities, bridges, schools etc etc.

I'd say we're are already there.....and we have been since the beginning.

Every President, every Congress and every Senate in this nation's history is guilty of this. And it will most certainly continue in the future no matter who is elected.

You all need to get over this and deal with a little reality, I think.

I don't give a rat's behind about "Joe the Plumber" or "Tito the Builder." If these people allow themselves to be used by a political party, they deserve to be put under the microscope. I know there are a lot of people who said that the democrates ruined "Joe the Plumbe" because they looked into his past. However, it is the Republicans who bring up his name and use him at every event. Having said that, I recall at a recent stop where Obama was called a Socialist by a woman (who probably is receiving the Social Security a Socialist program) and who wouldn't shake Obama's hand when it was extended to her.

I have not heard or read anything about this woman so, who is using who???

The fact is that Obama is in favor of allowing the law to revert to what it was during the most prosperous period of this generation. It's also true that much of the appearance of an economic boom that's taken place during the Bush years has been illusory, the product of too much borrowed money being squandered on spending that produced no returns.

Economic transactions require both supply and demand. Bush policies have tilted the playing field so much in favor of supply that demand has been drying up for years, a fact hidden under wave after wave of borrowed money, shoring up a declining standard of living with debt. Well, the debt party's over, and if we don't take steps to revitalize the demand sectors of our economy, we're in a collapse that will leave us unable to make the payments on our accrued debt.

Bush policies have driven this nation to the edge of national bankruptcy. It's well past time to stop being stupid.
