What's behind the candidates technical difficulties?.
What's behind the candidates technical difficulties?.

ZANESVILLE, Ohio (CNN) – In the final days of a presidential campaign, nothing is left to chance. With so much planning and set-up going into every stop, no detail is too small. So everything runs with clockwork precision, right? Uh, yeah, sure. But when events veer slightly off course, the candidates are quick to point some playfully partisan fingers.

In Reno on Saturday, Barack Obama’s microphone died mid-sentence during a rally. He walked the stage and shook hands for the three minutes while crews worked on the problem. When the sound came back, he told the crowd as he resumed, “Hello, hello, hello! I told you folks are having trouble making their electricity bills. Either that or somebody from the McCain campaign kicked our plug out of the socket. That was just a joke, guys, there’s no evidence of foul play. Now, where was I?”

Sunday, the lights went out over the stage during the introductions to John McCain at a high school in Zanesville, Ohio, Senator Lindsey Graham was left speaking in the shadows, filling until the problem was fixed so McCain could take the stage. To laughter, McCain said as he began, “Thank you for the warm welcome. I think the lighting is brought to you courtesy of the Democratic National Committee.”

At least we think they’re being playful.

The in fighting is a sign of what his presidency would be like even if he were running against a weak opponent. Its so bad that the GOP and RNC are participating in vote suppression tactics – on that issue news media investigative report should be started and all documentation of voter suppression turned over to the special prosecutor. Heads should role at the attempts to steal yet another election.

Why has CNN not covered the 2004 story of Obama's comments that he felt that the federal judges should step in and MANDATE that money should be taken from the rich and redistributed to the poor?

That sure sounds like Marxist / Socialist comments to me!!!!

To all Obama-Biden supporters, no complacency let's get to the finish line. GET OUT THE VOTE, VOTE FOR CHANGE.

Sue T   October 27th, 2008 9:37 am ET

America has spoken, the polls are showing the effect of the last 8 years of Bush and his administration. What ever happens this week and the polls start closing up closer, Obama will still win, so many have all ready voted and at this point, the people who have their minds made up are not going to change........if McCain does win over the undecided it still wouldn't be enough to win.......only some unforseen "Dirty Deed" done dirt cheap will give McCain and Palin the white house........

DEBBIE   October 27th, 2008 9:36 am ET

If you vote for John McCain you are voting for a man that maybe suffering from POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER which was never treated. I don"t think he is the candidate we want to lead

I can't wait for McCain/Palin supporters to see that the majority of the country are not racists on November 4th. Wonder how that's gonna feel to be a minority for the first time in their small minded lives.

Dealt, Lisbon   October 27th, 2008 9:32 am ET

Well, these glitches are MINOR glitches. What puzzles me are the reports about voter desqualification so near election day. Read the report on what happened in Georgia, here on CNN. After all, it's not as if it hasn't happened before, so there was plenty of time to fix all that went wrong in previous elections.

I'd expect the USA, which is so willingly to export democracy to often unwilling countries, would take care to ensure this most basic of democracy rights. That people can vote and ample opportunity given to check voters' elegibility and catch fraud.

In Georgia it seems they're asking for verification too late for voters to comply and that though voters can cast their provisional vote, it's left to officials to decided wether to accept them or not...

Very weird...

Julie   October 27th, 2008 9:31 am ET

The media is making a huge deal of the fact that Sarah's makeup artist/stylist was paid more than John McCain's aides. Hey it's only fair! The stylist is doing a much better job. Even though McCain has lost, I do feel sorry for him as the John McCain we have seen since August is not the real John McCain. My only guess is that his campaign fed him full of hockydoodle about what he needed to do to win. Too bad he didn't have the backbone to stand up for what he truly believes.

Dave from MD   October 27th, 2008 9:31 am ET

Heard the GOP planned the "lights off" moment so that MCCain would have a similiar line like the one Obama made out west. The Reps are so predictable.

Dick   October 27th, 2008 9:30 am ET

MCcain is a war monger. If Americans vote for this war monger because of ignorance, they will pay the price in the coming 4 years. The last 8 years were worse but the next 4 under McSame will be a a nightmare

Farrell, Houston, Tx   October 27th, 2008 9:22 am ET

Obama says "someone from the "McCain campaign" kicked our plug out of the socket, not blaming Republicans as a whole. McCain on the other hand places blame on all democrats for the power failure and that isn't the way to get any democrats on his team. Saying the right things at the right time is why Obama is so favorable over McCain.

The biggest partisan power failure has been the power source of the Republicans! They have failed to realize what a great source of power the internet can be for BOTH donations, communication on the ground and getting their message out there. Senator Obama's campaign has managed this resource with great skill and success. We look forward to a transparent government online and open for comment. Good -bye to the secret lobbyists and corporate interests deals in Washington. Good-bye to the greed and corruption of the past 7 years Good-bye to the partisan attacks, lies and smears done by people who call themselves Christian with a wink and a sneer. The only way Obama will lose next Tuesday is if the Republicans cheat once again (which I don't put past them). If that happens, expect Americans to take to the streets in a major protest. We will not accept this in any fashion. For the good of this country, it is time that we stand up for our rights and point out that.McCain and Palin will destroy what is left of this nation. Don't let that happen.

Instead of this article that has no bearing whatsoever on this election, why can't CNN share news of the testy Biden interview in Florida, or Obama's audio in 2001 lamenting the fact that the Supreme Court has not "addressed" redistribution of wealth and outlining approaches to legislate it?

I'm sure many will respond that these items are just pulled from Right Wing talking points (actually not), but I'd hope that news outlets could share news the way it happens, and let the people decide if it's relevant.

Get ready folks – the only news that will be shared for the next 4 years (and therefore 8), will be news that praises Obama for all things right in the world and blames someone else for all the bad. What will it take for intellectual honesty and journalistic integrity in reporting?

Dawn   October 27th, 2008 8:49 am ET

Alittle humor is so much fun and life goes on. Vote for McCain is a vote for war and the draft... Vote for Obama, maybe diplomacy. You can have dipolmacy and win wars.

This Government can be dilusional, you think that you can wipe out terrorist groups, think again.. Think of the terrorist group like cockroaches, you can wipe out a nest, but months latter they are back.

So be it, the world hates us so as it is, you think McCain is the answer when his answer is war and Obama is peace, which do you choose.

The selection of Governor Palin will be the reason for John McCain's loss. However it is representative of the entire lack of a strategic focus of his campaign.

He was a reactionary riverboat gambler, not a planner ... not a builder of a winning effort.

John McCain didn't vett Sarah Palin ... he really didn't know what he was "buying" when he picked her.

In some fairly softball interviews [e.g. Couric], Palin showed us that she is not ready for prime time ... she doesn't have the goods.

Not this woman ... not ever

Nothing like humor to relieve tension, but why DID the Republicans lose power? Doesn't Palin have a direct link to God? Or is that all in her head? I guess there has to be something in there.

Nancy   October 27th, 2008 8:35 am ET

Scott L – you always miss the point, don't you?

barbara   October 27th, 2008 8:34 am ET

Barack handled the situation nicely. He took the time to shake hands and mingle with the crowd.

OBAMA-BIDEN 08 BY LANDSLIDE

jp,michigan   October 27th, 2008 8:33 am ET

Well, the end is near. So, gather all the information you can possible get and make a choice. This process, to elect a president ,has been long and hard on the American voter. Both candidates have misrepresented either other and going to fact check hasn't helped. Need to check voting records (if available), past experiences (if available) and one strengths. We need to go beyond the rhetoric and look at the real facts (if available). One candidate made them available, while the other plays secretive and selective games. If you kept out with the entire process, from the primaries until now , you know McCain is an open book and Obama you can't find the key to open his book!

Pelosi, Reid, and Frank.

Gotta love how Obama zealots have no clue who these three people are.

It is scary actually.

All 3 are anti-military might and pro-taxes to fund social welfare programs.

Not enough money in old John's campaign. What a pity.

OBAMA/BIDEN 08

dEMOBRAT   October 27th, 2008 8:28 am ET

Barack- please spread the wealth, I know our constitution is fundamentally flawed. Thank god you were born, so you could turn us into Europe.

Doug   October 27th, 2008 8:27 am ET

Playfulteasing is very valuable this election year. The campaign has been pretty nasty and aggressive, so a little ice breaking and letting off of steam is a good thing, regardless of your political persuasion. : )

Scott L   October 27th, 2008 8:26 am ET

Obama is going to lose HUGE next Tuesday.

Can't wait.

Florida For Barack!   October 27th, 2008 8:26 am ET
