With Stevens' conviction one might want to say that the wheels continue to come off the McCain-Palin campaign.

Yet unless someone throws that annoying mini-spare out of the trunk, there just may not be any more tires to come off.

And as for Stevens claiming he is innocent – about 80% of folks in prison say the same thing. "Honest, judge, I was only the wheel man."

No one guilty of corruption charges should be allowed to run. We need to hold our politicians to higher standards. This includes politicians of all parties. Corruption is an offense that could result in a President being impeached, so certainly a senator guilty of it has no business running.

Don't be afraid to vote for a Democrat. The Republicans had control for six years. Can the Democrats possibly do any worse? Has anyone researched the possibility that 2008 may be the year of the straight-ticket voter?

All my life, and I'm 52, I never voted straight ticket – until 2006. That was my first straight-Dem ballot and I cast that vote because I really believed it was time for the Republicans to not only take a break, but remember who they're supposed to be working for.

Voted straight Dem again this year. I wonder if that's happening much across the country, with the general dissatisfaction with GOP policy and the financial meltdown?
