(CNN) – Sarah Palin said Tuesday Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens should resign his Senate seat, in a statement released hours after John McCain made a similar declaration.
The comments come a day after Palin would not say what she thought the best course of action for the recently convicted senator should be.
"After being found guilty on seven felony counts, I had hoped Senator Stevens would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering his Senate seat," she said in the statement. "He has not done so. Alaskans are grateful for his decades of public service but the time has come for him to step aside. Even if elected on Tuesday, Senator Stevens should step aside to allow a special election to give Alaskans a real choice of who will serve them in Congress."
Why don't you follow him falin?
I think Sarah should resign, for been found guilty for her abuse of Power.......and useing tax payers in alaska to shofer her family around, and recieving favors from the people that built the wasilla center for 25 million, that caused the city to be in so much debt....
SARAH YOU SHOULD RESIGN
It looks like Governor Palin is focusing on Alaska issues again. After Tuesday, that will be her main focus anyway.
... And by the same token, Stevens should call for Palin to resign.
I'M CALLING FOR PALIN AND STEVENS TO RESIGN.
She is only saying this now because the top of the GOP ticket said it yesterday.
McCain says this sort of corruption must end once and for all. Sarah must be gettin' kinda nervous, ya kmow?
Palin should look after her own future in Alaska – her vice presidential run is coming to a close. Better luck in Alaska after they decide what to do with your ethics violating self.
Gee I wish I gave a gosh diggity darn what she said. One more week folks. VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN 2008. Hope Palin is the next one to step down.
Thanks Palin!! :) That's what you call cleaning up washington. Get rid of the corruption.
Oh now, let's just elect Stevens' opponent and we won't need any silly special election. Besides, if elected, Stevens won't resign. Which means you'll have to haul him off the Senate floor in handcuffs. Not a pretty picture for the minority party.
If and when "Troopergate" is finally exposed we'll see if good ole Sarah will resign her Gov. position. I doubt it....she thinks too highly of herself. Palin is a foolish idiiot.
I think Palin should resign as well and she can take McCain with her.
Yesterday Palin basically said she thought that Stevens would do the right thing from now on......another flip flop. I guess McCain wants him to step down cuz he puts a dark spot on the republican party. To late.
THIS GUYS ARE CLOWNS.
Sooo, he was found to be guilty of ethics and so was Palin but she is calling the kettle black? Wow!
I just love the U.S.A. Convicted felons can’t vote but a convicted felon can run for the Senate. Priceless. Only in the U.S.A.
Guess she had to wait for instructions before responding to this.
Please half-wit, spare us your self-rightous indignation, remember you were found guilty of abuse of power.
If you think he should resign then when can we expect your resignation?
I gotta admit, this is ONE THING I actually agree with her on.
Chris from NC
Be carefull Sarah I'm sure he could end her career !
Palin should follow suit and do the same thing. Just resign from politics all together.
Let just hope Sara Palin take her own advice when she gets back to
her state. Alaskans can do better with out her.
Alaska needs to investigate how Palin built her house. The Maverick again crime. Yea! right. It took her long enough to decide he needed to resign and she probalby wouldn't vote for him I bet Stevens has so much on her. Stevens trained Palin.
Abuse of Power
I voted October 20th for Barack Obama
Be very careful about what you say Palin, it´ll come back to bite you someday... Do unto others....
SHE better be willing to resign after SHE is found guilty of abusing HER power, the hypocrite!
