(CNN) – Sarah Palin said Tuesday Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens should resign his Senate seat, in a statement released hours after John McCain made a similar declaration.
The comments come a day after Palin would not say what she thought the best course of action for the recently convicted senator should be.
"After being found guilty on seven felony counts, I had hoped Senator Stevens would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering his Senate seat," she said in the statement. "He has not done so. Alaskans are grateful for his decades of public service but the time has come for him to step aside. Even if elected on Tuesday, Senator Stevens should step aside to allow a special election to give Alaskans a real choice of who will serve them in Congress."
Why wait for a special election?
Save the tax payer money for putting on another election and vote in the other guy next week!!!!
Liar Palin also has a little ethics problem of her own that is rarely talked about.
Don't forget AIP, hard to reconcile their platform you supported via promotioanl speeches, and the first dudes membership. Explain that "patriots"
I guess if He doesn' t Palin is going have him fired.
Sarah you are only saying that because it's election season.
Accepting and not reporting gifts is less a crime than power abuse. If Sen. Stevens should step down, so should Palin; and so should many other governent appointed individuals whose vices and corruptions are yet to be dug out.
HA HA HA. Pray tell why resign? After all, Colin Powell with vouch for his integrity.
Originally Boob Palin implied she as governor would pardon him since the whole thing was partisan rigged..... a change of loony toon for the airhead?
I BELIEVE EVERY SINGLE SENATOR & CONGRESS PERSON SHOULD BE CHECKED TO SEE IF THEY COMMITED CORRUPTION.
WHAT IS GOOD FOR ONE SHOULD BE GOOD FOR ALL. I AM SURE WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW.
well in that case, Palin should also resign from being governor since she abused her power.
Alaskans need to elect the dem!!!!
Stevens can win on Tuesday, resign on Wednesday and Palin appoints another Rep. on Thursday.
Nice little tricksies.... This resignation shout out is a joke...
Palin may be the next one to step down. She was found guilty of abusing her power as governor. The investigations should continue and all the corrupt politicians should be fired, charged and jailed. the american public wouldn be under the jail should anyone of us tried anything like this~
How can Palin make this statement as she also was convicted of abuse of her power as governor in the troopergate decision. How come she does not resign her position as Governor of Alaska and also as the Vice President with McCain. One crook making a comment about another crook.
His voting rights should be stripped let alone hold a seat in the senate.
I thought Palin was gonna vote for him. I guess the GOP told her to call Stevens for resignation.
FINALLY...she puts two sentences together! Guess she had to wait to comment until the statements were written for her. Hopefully, she'll follow her own advice when she's found guilty in the Troopergate scandal.
Hmmm...so he was found guilty. So if you are found guilty you should resign. Hey Palin, can we expect your resignation tomorrow? You are a fraud and a neo-con anti american! You should resign and serve time!
Vote Obama: Because we don't need convicted criminals in the white house!
If this was 2004, we'd say "FLIP FLOPPER!"
WAIT UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTION TO RESIGN MR. STEVENS, OR SHE'LL TAKE YOUR SEAT AND SIT ROMNEY AS VICE PRESIDENT. IT'S A SCAM!
she does not know if she is vpting for him or not and now she is saying stepdown, what a joke
Palin had to say something condemning Stevens for her own political survival. Afterall, she is trying to become the head of the Senate, or is it VP, I forget.
Palin is Governor, Stevens is Senator. He may not outrank her, but she certainly doesn't outrank him. Is it appropriate for her to make statements like this?
Suppose Stevens said Palin should step down because of her own ethics violations related to Troopergate.
"Even if elected on Tuesday, Senator Stevens should step aside to allow a special election to give Alaskans a real choice of who will serve them in Congress." Wow, I can't imagine who Sarah thinks should take his U.S. Senate seat even if he wins next Tuesday...who could she POSSIBLY have in mind?
Ms. Palin. After being found guilty of abuse of power, I would have hoped you would take the opportunity to do the statesman-like thing and erase the cloud that is covering your governing of Alaska.
Palin/Bush are the gifts that keeps on giving.
Palin was found guilty in troopergate of abusing her power – that's worse than taking money in my opinion. Off with her crown!
Sure would love to hear more about Palin from Stevens – bet he has tales to tell...
