30-minute Obama ad shows campaign muscle

Sen. Barack Obama aired a 30-minute campaign ad Wednesday night.
Sen. Barack Obama aired a 30-minute campaign ad Wednesday night.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama's 30-minute TV ad, which ran simultaneously on broadcast and cable networks at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, is muscle-flexing that has little precedent, a campaign advertising expert said.

"It's evidence, if you needed any, that the Obama campaign has more money than there is ad time left to buy," said Evan Tracey, director of the Campaign Media Analysis Group. "This is flexing the muscles."

Tracey estimates that it will cost the campaign "in the $4 to 5 million range - at a minimum, $3.5 million."

But, he said, spending the money is a "no-brainer" for the Democratic presidential hopeful.

"The strategic brilliance of this for Obama is that he is going to consume about 24 hours of the news cycle," Tracey said. "It boxes [John] McCain in, takes the oxygen out of the room."

In the carefully produced infomercial, Obama laid out his plans for the economy and for bringing an end to the war in Iraq.

The only reasosn Obama had the money to do this Production was because of his BROKEN PROMISE. Now let's think, if he will spend this much money on a commercial all about himself, what do you think he will spend if he is elected? He will spend a lot of our tax dollars on stuff that is not necessary, just like this commercial.

If he has all the money to spend on an infomercial maybe he should pay of the national debt. People get real!!! Are we trying to elect a President or a King. Think about what you are doing. If you contributed over 1,000.00 to this campaign you obviously are not like the rest of us who are stuggling. Maybe you should help those of us who NEED THE HELP not someone who already has the money. God help this country if the Obama cult takes over.

We need overwhelming Democratic ticket victories at all levels to send a unified message to all America (and the Republicans in particular) that bombastic messages of hate, distortions and lies will no longer be accepted in political campaigns.
Maybe, then in future, we can have all contestants from all parties focusing upon substantive issues that affect our lives.
IF WE VOTE LOUD ENOUGH MAYBE WE WILL BE HEARD.THE BEST WAY TO SHUT DOWN THE GOP TACTICS IS TO MAKE SURE YOU AND EVERYONE YOU KNOW VOTES 100% DEMOCRATIC. GET OUT THE VOTE; TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED; IRRESPECTIVE OF THE POLLS.

I don't think it was "muscle" as much as it was strength of conviction, judgment, and knowledge.

MUSCLE denotes the McCain RULE by WAR. A negative

    Strength is a positive.
    Watch your words CNN.

Obama/Biden '08 – I voted early. Recommend it if possible.

The presentation was more than I expected. It showed what he wanted to do, the types of real people that he wants to help and most importantly, it wasn't negative. America is tired of the fighting and slander. It's time to stand shoulder to shoulder. Job well done!

Obama has run one of the best political campaigns in history. It does not matter if we agree with his politics or not, this man knows how to sell himself. Unlike McCain who only knows how to pimp Palin out. John why have you not been to Indiana? If hanging on to Indiana, John is so important why did you not send Palin until October? Obama had already been here three times before Palin showed up. John McCain has run a worst campaigns then Hillary’s train crash. Fact of the matter is McCain has never gave us a reason to vote for hi and spends most of his times telling up not to vote for Obama. I think McCain is starting to have a man crush on Obama because he can’t even talk about himself for talking about Obama so much.

I watched thsi last night. When it was done my wife was crying saying that it was so powerful, and that this is man that this country needs.
It was a positve message and not once was the repubs mentioned not the smears of them against this man.
This is the person that this country needs...
McCain/palin should be ashamed of themselves for running such negative campaign.
I am still waiting to hear what they will do and how..not this "I ahve a plan"...I also want to know how McCain can calim he is 'tested" and has the expereince. 30 years in the Senate is not experince running the country, and he has never sat at that desk in crisis...so when was he tested?

When I saw the wheat field I was waiting for Obama, Michelle, and his daughters to come running through the field playing the theme song to "Little House on the Prarie". (that's what the music reminded me of.

I liked the stories of fellow Americans who are trying to cope with awful circumstances. I hope Obama (should he win) is really able to do what he says and that this isn't the usual Chicago Bull we are used to gettting from politicians.

Palin has resorted to pure venom in her unrelenting attacks on Barack Obama. There were many people who gave parties for Obama (and McCain) during this campaign season and I doubt that security and background checks were done on any of them. Does that mean that a possible, terrorist, socialist or PLO may have backed the McCain campaign too? Every time I think she can't get any lower she surprises me with another misleading attack.

I am so sick of hearing the slur of the day from the McCain campaign and I'd love to hear what the are going to do for the American people who make less than $200,000/yr.
