National polls are not the ones to be watching now. State polls are and they give Obama well more than the 270 he needs, even without the toss up states.

In spite of the devisive hate-filled fearmongering by the right-wing ignorencia.

Obama is the only candidate who has maintained his honor, and who is not afraid of boogie-men.

Funny. RCP poll of polls actually has OBAMA increasing his lead. MMMMMM! Funny how some polls are higher and some lower. But what are the polls saying in the battleground states. That is right, they are growing larger support for OBAMA. And funny how this CNN poll was lambasted by the Repubs on here when Obama was way ahead, but now it is suddenly believable.. FUNNY!! Go to Gallop.. they also have OBAMA increasing his lead. Funny only CNN has his lead decreasing. I would like the zip codes of the phone calls and the # of registered dems and repubs for this survey before making a true analysis.

If Barry wins we sure as heck will see it in 2011. Of course we'll be unemployed, out of our homes, yet still having to pay taxes. But Barry and his family will be living just fine, as will Oprah, the Rev., Bill Ayers, and all of Obama's other pals.

And you koolaid drinkers will still be here saying what a great president he is. He brought the world together! Yeah, to gang up on the U.S. because he made us weak. There's a word for you all - gullable.

No AlGore, global warming does not exist. We are in the midsts of the biggest snowstorm ever, Snowstorm Obama.

If Obama loses I truly believe the republicans would have stolen this election again. My family will be doing pretty darn good under McCain. will be getting a $6,000 tax break.

I voted for Obama. I be paying extra tax under Obama, but I believe in helping your fellow American.

Finally CNN admitted that race is closing in.. Up until now it was defiant.

I would also ask Jack (Cafettery) to ask the question if Media has run a honest campaign? He asked us to comment on McCain. how about little introspaction and asking themselves.

Am I seeing this posted?

It's not hard to understand that the race is tightening.

With stories about Obama's "beloved" aunt living in a Boston slum (she supposedly can't even afford a real cane and uses a metal rod) and questions over whether she is even here legally, are you surprised?

Isn't he supposed to be "his brother's and his sister's keeper"? If he can't care for the aunt he claimed in his book to love, then how is he going to care for millions of strangers?

Too bad it takes the British press to come here and expose the story.

Good for McCain!

Obama thinks he can BUY the presidency -- I will be extrmely happy if the voters prove him wrong.

Obama's ego is frightening...the man needs a lesson in humility.

This is my first time voting for a republican!!

The only polls that will really matter are the votes on election day, I really don't pay too much attention to the media hype because your ratings are misleading. McCain is going to lose and the voters won't have buyers remorse because we want "Change" not McSame we're tired of the Republicans that's our buyer's remorse for the last eight years.

ROFLMAO! What polls are you guys using? Even RCP says this is a 6.2 point race ... which is 0.8 down from Monday ... and 1.3 down from last thursday - but UP 1.2 on October 19 (which gets most of the polls and trackers completely after the last debate).

Look - history, on the most part - shows that it is the challenger - not the incumbent (person or party) that surges in the final 2 weeks. That is why most races tighten. HOWEVER - this year is an exception because the challenging party started October in the lead and if you look at the trend for the month of October - Obama is increasing his lead ... not diminishing it.

Gallup tracking polls show Obama is gaining, not losing, among likely voters, as do many other recent polls. This story is mainly about the fact that an "expert" says sometimes something happens in elections, except when they don't. I could've told you that!

If you look at the averages of the major Polls, it's been hovering around a 6 percent Obama lead for a while now, and holding steady.

But the polls can be wrong. Get out there and vote, people.

I for one am glad to see a tightening.
We need to make sure we are all sweating bullets so that not one single voter thinks it's OK to stay home cause it's "in the bag."

Get out and VOTE!!

This country needs OBAMA!!

While the national polls I'm looking at have tightened a point or two (Obama has a 7-8 point lead), the battleground polls look as good as ever. But I have no doubt a closer race is better for ratings -- and probably better for Democratic turnout -- so by all means, go with it :)

Why aren't you reporting the fact that he bussed in school children to fill the seats in the Defiance auditorium. MSNBC says more than 4,000 school children were brought in for a total count around 6,000 folks showing up. Doesn't sound like a a tightening to me.

The FAUX poll out today of likely voters showed a narrowing but it has been found (according to Ambider's blog) that FAUX changed the sampling in Repugs favor a bit which may explain the tightening.

Why is McCain so upset that Obama CHANGED HIS MIND about public financing after he saw that it would be better for his campaign to allow us to make small donations? Public financing does not contribute to the problems facing this country. Obama has not lied or changed his mind about anything that will affect the american people. McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time and wishes to continue on his policies. Those are the things that are worth looking into.

There are disgruntled voters who are not showing up in the polls. They are switching parties (hillary voters for McCain-pumas and McCain supporters wooed by Obama). There is a third bloc that are from both parties who are voting 3rd party and independents going third party.

There is a third party debate tonight in Ohio. Of course, McCain and Obama are too pompous to acknowledge a large portion of voters who they are not even close to connecting with.

They think we're "wacky" for wanting smaller government, more freedom, lower taxes, no war, right to choose, rights to marry (who we choose). These are things that are fundamentally American. Most that I talk to agree with these things....then they proudly march off to the voting booth wearing red or blue and pull a lever against their principles. Then we get more of the same...I don't have to wonder why.

Senator McCain made one huge mistake in picking Sarah Palin thinking that women would vote for her just because she is a woman. When a woman enters the White House as President or Vice President - we women want one who knows her stuff. Senator McCain said that he would run an honorable campaign and definitely has not done that. To tell the truth - all that sticks with me about what he & Sarah Palin has said thus far is them being negative and Sarah Palin winking and blinking during the debate.

Five points in the popular vote and a landslide in the Electoral College.

In this Red/Blue almost evenly divided country, 5 points is a landslide.

Carter only won the popular vote by 2 points but won an electoral landslide against Ford. And that was after Watergate and pardoning Nixon.

Don't forget cellphones are not being accounted for (just a best guess by the pollsters).

No the polls everywhere have shown some daily tightening. The McCain smears and innuendo, repeated often enough, have had an effect. It will all come down to getting out the vote. If you believe in your candidate enough, you will make the effort to vote. Every one will count.

who cares about the national polling ... give me the state by state polling, at least that means more.

in any case, this was always going to be a close race, at least in raw numbers ... and, jack, the other candidates, when taken together, aren't likely to have an appreciable effect. relatively speaking, the two "viable" third party candidates are barr and nader, and they'll probably take roughly the same percentage of votes from mccain and obama, respectively. at the very least, they'll minimize the impact of the other on the overall election.
