New gains for Obama on the CNN Electoral Map.
New gains for Obama on the CNN Electoral Map.

(CNN) — If Barack Obama is betting on Nevada, he may find a pleasant payoff. A new poll suggests that the Democratic presidential candidate is widening his lead there.

That's contributing to an increase in territory for Obama in CNN's Electoral College Map. The map estimates what would occur if the election were held today, by reviewing state polls, voting trends, campaign visits and advertising.

In the Nevada survey — one of five CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation state polls released Thursday morning — 52 percent of likely voters say Obama is their choice for president, with 45 percent backing John McCain. That seven-point lead is up from a five-point advantage Obama held in a poll taken one week ago.

Nevada narrowly voted for George W. Bush in the last two presidential contests.

"Obama is racking up support among blue collar voters in Nevada," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Two weeks ago, he had a six-point lead among people with no college degree. Now he has a 23-point lead over McCain among that group. If the unions are making a big push for Obama in Nevada, it seems to be working."

The new numbers in Nevada, along with similar findings from other new polls in the state, are factors that led CNN to move Nevada and its five electoral votes from a "toss-up" state to "lean Obama" in its new Electoral College Map.

With that change, CNN estimates that if the election were held today, Obama would win 291 electoral votes compared with 163 for McCain; another 84 electoral votes are up for grabs.

A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.

On Wednesday, CNN switched Colorado and its nine electoral votes from "toss up" to "lean Obama," thanks to a number of new polls, including a CNN/Time/ORC poll that suggests Obama has an eight-point lead in Colorado.

CNN also changed Indiana, which has 11 electoral votes, from "lean McCain" to "toss up." A new CNN Poll of Polls suggests McCain holds a two-point lead over Obama in Indiana, which hasn't voted for a Democrat in a presidential election since 1964.

The Poll of Polls is an average of the latest state surveys.

The state of Washington was also moved from "lean Obama" to "safe Obama," though that move doesn't change the electoral count.

With the prospect of losing some of the states that President Bush won four years ago, McCain, R-Arizona, has his eyes on Pennsylvania and its 21 electoral votes.

McCain and his running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, and surrogates are spending a lot of time campaigning in the state. McCain hopes to become the first Republican presidential candidate to win the state since 1988.

A new poll, however, suggests that McCain's efforts may not be paying off.

Fifty-five percent of likely voters in Pennsylvania say they are backing Senator Obama, D-Illinois, with 43 percent supporting McCain. That 12-point lead for Obama is up from a nine-point advantage he held in CNN's last poll in the state, conducted last month.

"Pennsylvania is the keystone to McCain's electoral college strategy, but he faces a tough task," said Holland. "Obama has an edge in Philadelphia, of course, but also in the Philly suburbs, and he's ahead by six points in the western part of the state."

Another state McCain needs to keep in the Republican camp is Ohio, where 20 electoral votes are up for grabs. The new poll indicates Obama holds a small four-point lead, 51 percent to 47 percent. Both campaigns are spending a lot of time and money in Ohio in this last week before the election.

It's a simliar story in North Carolina, which last voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in 1976, when Jimmy Carter was running. A new poll suggests Obama has a six-point lead over McCain, 52 percent to 46 percent.

Obama was up by four points in our last poll, conducted last week.

"Other polls are showing North Carolina is essentially tied, but our poll shows Obama picking up support among younger voters and the blue-collar segment. Those are two reasons the race in North Carolina has gone from a 49-49 tie in early October to a 52-46 edge for Obama, at least in our results," Holland said.

The poll indicates McCain holds a small lead in his home state of Arizona — 53 percent to 46 percent. Another poll released this week suggests the race is closer in Arizona, which McCain has represented in Congress for 26 years.

The poll was also expanded to include the major third party candidates, Independent Ralph Nader, Libertarian candidate Bob Barr, and Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney.

None of them are polling over 3 percent in any of the states surveyed, and none seem to be a factor in the outcome of the results in those five states — other than Ohio, where Nader's 3 percent showing could have an impact.

The CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted Thursday through Tuesday. It surveyed 807 likely voters in Arizona, 684 likely voters in Nevada, 667 likely voters in North Carolina, 779 likely voters in Ohio, and 768 likely voters in Pennsylvania.

The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points in Arizona, Ohio and Pennsylvania and plus or minus 4 percentage points in Nevada and North Carolina.

Hey Tim Texas
The wind of CHANGE is blowing baby. McShame has been getting Free media coverage over the past week, at least Obama is buying his time and therefore putting the money back into the economy, and his campaign has helped bollster the US economy due to the number of people who have donated and therefore the money has been put back into the economy when it is spent by Obama's campaign. It is time for America to see a difference

ines   October 30th, 2008 9:32 am ET

Just early voted in SC for Obama – waited an hour and a half in line – but it feels great! It's not a scientific poll – but it was overwhelming – most people there did not look like McCain voters at all.

The economy is in the sewer, millions of people are out of work, millions more have lost their homes, millions more have no health care, and Exxon reports "Record Breaking Profits of $14.8 billion" ????? Bush/Cheney/McCain have done a wonderful job of supporting the oil industry while the rest of us get royally screwed. And to top it off McCain/Palin are complaining about Rashid Kahlidi, someone who McCain gave money to.

What is wrong with this picture?

Evelyn in MI   October 30th, 2008 9:31 am ET

Did anyone ever ask John Mccain how he obtained 7 houses and thirteen cars from just a moderate up,bringing ? That is not mentioned daily.

If the election were being held in any other part of the world, this would be a cake walk for Obama. It would be one big "blue" world, except for some small areas of the world. While the whole world has embraced him, some American's are still unsure of his candidacy. What does this say about America?

Pat in IL   October 30th, 2008 9:30 am ET

Please just let this be over. Then the Republicans can go back to regroup, purge their bad apples and figure out that their job in congress is to serve the whole nation….not just a minority of special interests (usually social or financial) who keep them in "power".

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah……Perhaps your handlers are not telling you the truth. You need to take a closer look at the numbers and the comments. You are done. Now and forever. I love that you are actually so misguided that you believe you have a future in big time politics, but you are a nutcase and we all know it. You step on everyone that has ever tried to help you, most recently McCain. You don't have the backing, the brains or the ability to be anything more than a SNL skit and pin up girl for the religious nuts of the GOP. Obama will take this election and you will fade into the woodwork. Thank God.

If you are elected to serve the people why is it that in 26 years in Congress you have failed to educate yourself on the economy? How can you set policy if you are ignorant on a subject? Why are you ignorant on the subject after 26 years? What have you been doing Senator McCain? You have been tested for almost 3 decades and you have failed.

If people think that the polls are BS, then just look at the early voting numbers. BY a 2-1 margin more Democrats then Republicans are voting early, and in previously unheard of numbers. This year, the youth are voting. This year, Obama is going to win.

the_raven   October 30th, 2008 9:27 am ET

I hope Obama is elected, since I think, with him in office, we stand the best chance of educational standards being raised, so that by the time kids graduate from high school, they know how to spell, and they understand how to use apostrophes.
Reading comments posted to blogs and articles, I have seen that Americans are deficient in both skills.

Rudy   October 30th, 2008 9:26 am ET

A man driving a white pickup truck with McCain bumper stickers stole all the Obama signs in my neighborhood – right out of the yards.

The fear, hate and division generated by the campaign methods of McCain -Palin are not in the best interest of this country.

Early on when McCain began his campaign, he admitted one of his weaknesses was that of economics. He has offered no significant change in strategy to help us out of this economic mess. A mess that was caused by the same stratgies McCain supports.

If McCain has such a grand plan to get us out of the economic mess, why doesn't he lay it out there for the voters instead of spending so much time trying to discredit Obama ?

Trickle down economics is not going to work given the magnitude of our economic mess. Obama has the right idea of growing the economy from the ground up.

McCain wants to continue giving the wealthy yet another bite of the apple. It's time we all had an opportunity to have a bite.

How can McCain expect the economy to grow when more and more jobs that should stay in America are being shifted overseas ?

How does being a prisoner of war qualify McCain to be president ?

McCain and his wife are financially set for life. So are the 5% of the population who are currently enjoying the benefits of tax cuts. How many of you reading this can say the same ?

The lifestyle lived by McCain is miles above that of the average
working person. How can he even begin to relate to the circumstances and day to day problems faced by the majority of Americans ?

I've followed the campaigns, I've watched and listened to the candidates. Obama is by far the best candidate.

Mike   October 30th, 2008 9:26 am ET

To Victor–

How do you think Republicans always win the close elections of the past? They buy them. They always infuse more money in advertising with 527's and then hide behind the premise the candidate is only accepting the public financing. Biggest farce this country has seen and it happens year after year. Why would Obama accept public financing and tie one arm behind his back when the AMERICAN PEOPLE, not lobbyists and corporations are funding his campaign. We do need reform, and it has to restrict private groups from airing all of these ads — then we might have an even playing ground. It's funny to hear republicans whine about being out spent though… because you do it every election…

Billy   October 30th, 2008 9:26 am ET

CNN,

You still have AZ as solid McCain, get with the times.

Why not cover the other half of the Khiadi story about how McCain has funded over $500,000 to his foundation in 1998? If you claim to be the most unbiased news outlet here, why do you only talk about McCain's talking points on this story?

CNN, you're not as bad as FOX but you are definitely, McCain-Light network.

john in PA   October 30th, 2008 9:26 am ET

Uh oh, Tim and Texas has decreed shame on CNN! The gloves have come off and the race is wide open! Tim, you can have W back. Right now the majority of the nation wants Barack Obama. You have 5 days to convince at least 8% of the population to change its collective mind.

Until we the people stand up and hold our elected employees accountable! BHO is not the answer nor is JSM. We need to know more about where he stands on these issues! He's still has my vote!!!!

Betty the Beautician   October 30th, 2008 9:25 am ET

There have been lots of things that are negative towards McCain/Palin that have not been brought out by CNN. Palin has yet another ethics charge filed against her in Alaska and her ties to the firm that got the Alaska pipeline deal that she touts–the firm is TransCanada Corp.

There has also been no mention of McCains ties to Phil Graham who is now one of Americas Most Wanted.

Why is it that McCain can't even have one interview without bashing his opponent–why can't he just tell us what he's going to do? Balance the budget in one term???? yea, right.

His so called "mortgage plan" that he doesn't talk about is because it wasn't his idea. This was already allocated in the 700B bailout money and Hilary Clinton also had already come up with the idea. The reason McCain doesn't tout his idea is because his version of this plan rewards the banks/mortgage companies at the expense of the taxpayers–has been factchecked and is true.

McCain has not had one fresh idea other than his 401K idea. Also, in his previous interview with Wolf Blitzer, he stated that he would consider privatizing Social Security like Bush. Thank God that didn't happen because Social Security would be in a big mess right now on top of everything else.

It amazes me how McCain can sit there with a straight face and say income taxes collected from workers that go to welfare is not "spreading the wealth". Collection of any type of taxes is exactly that–a redistribution of wealth.

Michael in Houston   October 30th, 2008 9:25 am ET

It's amazing that even after the facts come out, you McCain/Palin supporters and the candidates themselves still try to push this terrorist issue. help me understand your logic Obama haters, if McCain or Palin says something that is found out to be very misleading or a flat out lie, and after the facts are presented, they continue to convince you of that the lie is fact. Doesn't that make McCain and Palin liars. Okay so why would you put your support behind people who continue to lie to you. That speaks volumes of your intelligence. Why don't you McCain/Palin supporters at least call them out about the lie? Obama has made misleading statements and in my opinion lied about a few things and trust me, ebvery chance I get I call him out on those things. And one mor thing. Why are most people who make over 250,000 per year okay with Obama's tax plan and all of you who make between 50,000 and 250,000 pissed about it? And the arguement that IF you get to over 250,000 is laughable, most of America will be lucky to make more than 30,000 over a 20 year period from where they started, unless you hit the lotto. I just don't understand the McCain/Palin supporter mentality.

No matter who wins on Nov 4th it's clear that we as a nation all hunger for change. Change from the washington insiders looking out for mainly washington insiders collecting from the washington lobbiest for personal gain. I hope no matter which candidate wins they will see that the other candidate can help change the direction we are going now. I am voting for Obama, yet I hope he will place McCain in a postion that he can help support the needed change. Though who we actually need is all of us, quit turning our heads and letting politicians take advantage of the system. Sure when the economy fails everyone has there eyes on Washington, but when times were good everyone had there blind eyes on. Wasteful spending is wasteful if you have $1 or $1 trillion wasteful is still wasteful. I do look forward to an Obama Presidency and I hope he can turn his web site into a tool to help the American People help bring about this change.

Steve   October 30th, 2008 9:25 am ET

Do you know that Barack Obama supports and voted for partial birth abortion and the clone and kill act. He also said that he will repeal the Hyde act when he gets into office. The Hyde act protects children that are born alive during an abortion. If Obama rescinds the act, the hospital will no longer "have" to keep the baby alive. Instead, they will watch the baby die and feel no compunction. I have never seen someone so pro-Abortion in my life. Even his running mate, Joe Biden, a staunch liberal, does not support partial birth abortion, the clone and kill act, or repealing the Hyde Act. I understand that a lot of you are Pro-Choice, which is your perogative, but do we really want to ally ourselves with someone who takes such a bleak view on human life. There is no rationalization for this. Obama is a dangerous man and I'm very concerned. We need to stop fantacizing about this ethereal notion of "change" and snap back to reality. I do not support John McCain either, but Obama, is no more than a fancy facade. Please cast your vote with care. Unfortunately this election comes down to the lesser of two evils.

At times, there are way more stories and headlines given to McCain just so CNN won't come under fire like MSNBC. I love MSNBC because I know they are bias and left-leaning. Wnenever I need a reality check, I come to CNN. Fox News is unworthy of my time and effort if I require objective information. BTW, Hussein means handsome in Arabic. It is an awful shame when people take such a stance without be extremely informed. Do your research then you have to the right to speak because it has been shown via fact check that many things that the McCain/Palin party have said are outright lies and even though it has been indicated as such they still continue on with the lies. I guess all those that are for McCain/Palin and happy with the current economic stance of the country so they find nothing wrong if the trend continues for another four years. CNN thanks, I've been censored again. I made a comment about seeing what an extra 4 million dollars and a giant ego can do for television and it was "moderated" out of existance, but ALL of the Pro-Obama stuff about the BOmercial is all still there. Where is the freedom of speech today?

Angel   October 30th, 2008 9:21 am ET

Victor,
when was the last time you've seen a presidential candidate not raise money for their campaign? Are you speaking of Barack the way you are because he has made history by raising more than any other candidate? His raising so much money is evident that he is knowledgeable and very much capable of handling the economy and other facets of this country. Why would you call him evil and what has he done that is so evil?

-McCain scares me- his ideas on health care are a disaster, his nasty attacks and how off base they are -are bizarre, how he thinks the american people are so stupid to buy into his commercials- he's never been president either, he made such a poor choice for his running mate- he picked a person that is everything he attacked Obama for being- saying that he's not ready, please. Illinoisans are as skeptical about politicians as they come these days- and I see Obama as the best choice

The more votes for Obama the better this country is! Obama has run as clean a campaign as possible. He has remained steady, dignified, and intelligent from the primaries to the financial crisis. We need a president with the integrity of Obama.

It's been a very long primary and general election season and I'm so sick and tired of erratic and nasty (and lies) McCain and his diva VP. Obama has been tested and proven his "presidential" abilities. McCain has shown he can't handle anything in a logical, dignified manner.

I am praying every day that Obama and Biden will be our leaders and once again, we can regain our economy and our standing in the world.

I am one of the unfrotunate one's that lost their home due to the economy crunch. I bought a house for $185,000, with a fixed rate monthly payment $1,253. In 8 months that payment went to $1,853 which was way above what we could afford! I was told it was taxes and insurance that brought about the rise in cost! After research found that my insurance didn't raise a penny it was all taxes! Then I get a state appraisal saying my $185,000 home wasn't worth but $127,000. I went to the Stae appraisal Office and was told I couldn't negotiate the taxes for months and still had ta pay taxes on $185,000! Well that was under the rule of the rep. I voted all Dem this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last 8yrs. has been HELL( because of G.W.Bush ). I refuse to deal with it for 8 more years. It is truly time for a change. YES WE CAN with OBAMA. P.S. If you want to talk about Barack being a terrorist, that's a lie, the terrorist is that man this country elected to lead us for the last 8yrs. and Mcain is his best friend.

""Obama is racking up support among blue collar voters in Nevada," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Two weeks ago, he had a six-point lead among people with no college degree. Now he has a 23-point lead over McCain among that group. If the unions are making a big push for Obama in Nevada, it seems to be working.""

Hmmmm. I guess this means that more of uneducated people are voting for Obama. Maybe if more people did thier research our economy would be in a better state. Let alone we would probably have better educated congressman and senators to actually make good decisions. More than likely if these people did not want to further their education(and don't say that can't afford it, I did working at McDonalds full time),so what makes you think they are even going to research either of the candidates. More than likely they just listen to biased media outlets and the first to reach that person with biased information is going to have the most effect. People are easily manipulated by the media because they are not educated enough to find the truth. I have to give props to abc, nbc, fox, cnn ect. ect. .. for knowing this last statement to be true and using it to their advantage. If the people are stupid enough to believe then they deserved to be duped.

Ken   October 30th, 2008 9:19 am ET

How is money buying votes? Did it pay for yours? Money may pay for ads as it for does McCains ads. I just don't listen to all the negative ones. I only pay attend to the things a candidate says to help this country not venting his disapproval about someone else. If that all a candidate can come up with in a speech then it is apparent that his ideas of how to run this country is not appealing to the majority of his audience around the country.

Don't let the polls lull you into complacency. It's still possible for the Republicans to pull this off if we THINK that we have it in the bag. Right now, for example, early voting in Nevada is down for young people and Hispanics–people that are strong Obama supporters. If they don't show up, then being ahead in the polls means nothing.

Lets make this happen with big numbers in both the popular vote and electoral college vote. I live in California and I'm voting today even though it SEEMS obvioius that Cali will go Obama. I want my vote to be in that number of votes counted next Tuesday.

Its okay to disagree with his policies, but if you are a person that agrees with his policies stop making excuses and join him and making this country a better place for all of us. Say what you will about BO he has taken on a tough fight, and has proven himself over and over again. African Americans should be proud of him this is a dream come true for America as a whole. We preach all the time about what is right, but we all know what is really in our heart, and we know what the right thing is, and therefore you have to search your very own soul because at the end of the day, you have to live with you no one else.

The Obama video highlighted the difference between DEM and GOP *perfectly*: The video was all about issues. It didn't mention McCain or the GOP even once. The GOP talking points couldn't be more different. The *only* thing they talk about are their opponents. To them it's all about inducing fear among the voters, intimidating the media (see Tim in Texas, above), and ultimately, partisanship. Ask yourself this question: if the GOP was suddenly given 30 minutes of airtime on all those networks, what would they do with it? You know the answer already, don't you …

Cnn will not touch this group why? News agencies continue to state that John McCain is a former Chairman of the Board of Directors, yet there own website still list him as current? This board of high powered lobbiest and business types are a concern to some. What are we getting for our money here and with this type of direct contact with Sen. McCain what type of policy influence do they have? Very simple questions, see Bill Ayers, does not bother me. But lobbiest and big business type do!!! We can't even get our own elections in order and yet we are around the world influencing other governments elections. Big business only has one interest exploiting others for profit.

Where does IRI get its funding?
The International Republican Institute (IRI) is a 501 (c)(3) IRI is funded by U.S. tax dollars.

Who is on the Board of Directors?
IRI’s board of directors is chaired by U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ)

Sorry but I stopped paying attention to CNN and NBC polls because they are so clearly biased. They always poll more Democrats than Republicans, so clearly that skews the results. How else can you explain those polls showing Obama with almost double-digit leads but the 3 most accurate polls (Rasmussen,Zogby, and TIPP) have it between 2 and 3 points nationally as well as in the swing states.

S. Holt   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Fantastic video. Pulls the nation together, unlike the division that McCain/Palin is drawing. Why should he take public financing? He said he would think about it. Voters started donating to his campaign. I donate every month. Why should he do townhall meetings? That does not allow you to reach a vast number of people. McCain is sowing sour grapes. Obama and team are organizers. They know how to run a campaign. McCain started the negative campaigning. I love Obama's last ad on McCain's pick for VP. Outstanding.

WeLuvObama   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

I beg to differ with you McCain/Palin supporters. Lately the ticker has been all about John McCain and Sara Palin. Why are you all so angry that Barack Obama was smart enough to not except Campaign Finance? He needed as much money as he could get to fight all of the lies and smears of the republicans.

John McCain is such an old whiner. Get over it, the people financed Barack Obama's campaign because they want change. McCain is more of the same. We will not be fooled this time. These are the same tactics the republicans use every election when they can't win on the issues.

Go Barack! I am praying for a landslide.

Steve - Minneapolis   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Victor – there are different kinds of money being spent in this election. Barack is spending MY money and that of millions of other “regular working guys” who want to return an intelligent, capable individual to the White House. McCain's money comes from a smaller pool of larger contributors, many of whom are expecting favors.

The issues we are facing require more than a ready-fire-aim ideology and a reckless "drill baby drill" mentality. Barack, and the competents who will surround him, will take a studied approach to solving these issues.

Feel good about voting ability and intelligence. Vote Obama.

Brad   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Dorothy in NC   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Barak Obama is a descent, hard working brilliant man who, I believe, will change Washington by working together with all people, talking to all world leaders and bringing common sense back to the way business is done. You don't get to be the President of the Harvard Law Revue unless you work hard and have a good character.

All I hear is "black man" this and "black man" that. This is 2008; slavery is over; there are good people and bad people of ever race. We need to grow up in this country and start thinking about the things that matter; things like world peace, economy, universal healthcare, and jobs and stop this senseless bashing of a man who is the best hope we have had in years of trying to get our problems straightened out.

I honor the service of John McCain but when does the statute of limitations run out on what he went thru? A good soldier doesn't necessarily mean good president. His campaign has been running the most negative ads and lacks any kind of sevility. Ok…..but there has been very little said about John McCain leaving his first wife after she was disfigured in an auto accident and having an affair with his second wife while he was married; or of his history of anger. We could go back and forth all day but what does it really accomplish?

The fact is no one is perfect but I think it is time to put the negativity behind us; put all our prejudices behind us and work together to try and solve our country's problems before they totally destroy our way of life, regardless of who wins. No other time in my 60 years have I seen things so bad in our country. Our standing in the world is terrible, people in this country are truly hurting from loosing their jobs and homes and retirement and not having proper health insurance and our infastructure is crumbling before our very eyes. We have rebuilt Iraq, now it is time to rebuild the United States.
I hope we wake up and grow up before we destroy ourselves. We are well on the way.

Don   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Obama was very specific last night in what he will do. Too bad the only tactic the Republicans have left is linking him to the so-called "shady" figures in his past life, which now nobody cares about. How lame. Obama is going to win, so you might as well get used to the idea.

Tom in Wheaton, Illinois   October 30th, 2008 9:13 am ET

I am so happy that the American people are waking up (and not falling for the desperate tactics of McCain and Palin to instill fear and spread lies about Obama) and are making a smart choice this year (unlike the last 2 elections).

Obama's television special last night solidified what my friends and I already knew- he is a dignified man, with morals, family values, and the intelligence to take America where it used to be 8 years ago and beyond. He is what America needs especially during these troubling times.

I don’t understand how ANYONE can trust Barack Obama. As Dennis Miller says: “he creeps me out”. It amazes me how many people actually trust this man. In every political race, both sides promise things that are not in the spectrum of reality. But, for me, it comes down to “WHO CAN I TRUST?”. I’ll tell you one thing….how anyone could TRUST Barack Obama boggles my mind! We all know everything about John McCain. He hasn’t tried to hide ANYTHING. Obama lied about public financing for one thing. We don’t know about anything else because he hides EVERYTHING from his past. He is NOT an open book like John McCain.

On election day, ask yourself one question: “Can I trust this man?” That’s the guy that you should vote for this Tuesday!

I saw fox trying to pull up the fact that Obama was tardy to senate hearing but they said nothing about McCains over the pst 26 years. They know that it is Obama 08 and that there is nothing that they can do. However, what makes up all of our minds is the quote from President Regan "are you better off than you were four years ago?"

Let's get real! Let's look at yourselves in the mirror and just come out and say what you've been thinking all along. You won't vote for Obama because he doesn't "look" like you! To "Tim in Texas" … this is "Dave in Texas," your Democratic counterpart (Yes, there ARE Democrats in TX). Step outside your door and I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for: right-wing, bible thumping, religious right bigots that go around using veiled racist comments like "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" to get their point across to white voters. Well, Tim, start gritting your teeth even more when next Wednesday you see in Big BOLD letters across Texas newspapers – "President Barack HUSSEIN Obama." Whatever you may think, CNN reports news – plain and simple. If you don't care for it, seek out Fox News (as most scared, rural whites do) and hug your hunting rifle close to you because this, my friend, will be a loonnnnnggg and well deserved ride for Rrepublicans. did it conduct an interview with John McCain last night allowing him to make more verbal attacks but refused to
allow an interview for Obama at a later time before the election? So much for your pro- Obama theory. All you have to do is listen to CNN for a couple of hours and you can pretty much tell who they really promote.

This is the time now that we have merged. We have someone that is bringing us together finally. My father was mixed. My Grandmother was black, and my Grandfather was white. I have a half Aunt and Uncle that is fully white that I have never met. My parents are now deceased. I have always wished that I could meet them, but I never did. Because of the prejudice of the south. I always felt that they never wanted me. I know where they live and their names. I truly wish that one day we can all come together and love each other like GOD has intended for us to do.

McCain is such a liar and Palin has the audacity to point fingers when she has done nothing but abuse her power. McCain is still harping on the fact that Obama has raised more money and he is still whining at this late date. The only reason he didn't raise money on the internet is because he doesn't know how to even use a computer! That's the only thing he couldn't copy from Obama!

MD   October 30th, 2008 9:05 am ET

Senator Obama has been called every name in the book, has had people threaten his life, had almost the entire American population question his faith, etc., etc., etc.,

Whether anyone is willing to admit it or not, this Presidential race will likely go down in history as one of the nastiest in American politics.

The only tangable thing Senator Obama had going for him (besides his intellect and an excellent campaign staff) was the extra money little people like me were willing to donate to the campaign.

He needed every penny of it to fight the double standards that still exist in this country. Those of us who donated know that without the extra money for additional adds and staffers for the ground game, the polls would not be where they are.

When you are fighting for the chance to get the United States back on track and you just happen to be African American you have to pull out all the stops.

Georgia Girl   October 30th, 2008 9:05 am ET

Tim in Texas, give me a break. The infomercial last night was amazing. I actually got just a bit emotional about it.

You know the best thing about it? McCain's name wasn't mentioned ONCE. It was positive, it provided policy statements, and it left me feeling hopeful.

McCain and Palin's speeches are nothing but snide and derisive. They don't detail policy, they don't tell us what they're going to do for us, and all they do is bash Obama.

I voted for the guy who has a shot at restoring this country to its former glory…I voted Obama/Biden.

To those who think CNN is "biased" in favor of Barack Obama:

I am an old journalism graduate. CNN is trying to report on the largest and most enthusiastic groundswell in two generations without seeming to be a cheerleader. It is a tough road to walk. What are they supposed to do? Perhaps NOT report the paltry crowds that McCain is drawing? Maybe NOT report that the folks who ARE showing up at these rallies are a cross-section of tractor-pull enthusiasts? Or, maybe they should ignore the biggest story in American politics in the last 40 years all together and just show sports.

Even Fox news has been unable to "spin" this election to make it look like McCain has a chance. And believe me, they've tried.

BJ   October 30th, 2008 9:04 am ET

After watching Obama's ad last night, how could anyone not feel hope and inspiration? No snipes, no smears, no negativity. Having listened a lot to both campaigns, I must say I do hear more details of his plans and how he would like to help the American people, but with the speeches from the McCain/Palin camp, there is a lot more negative stuff being said, more smearing, and no details at all of how they are going to help the people. McCain says he will do this, do that, but gives no details whatsoever. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that whenever McCain sees something working for Obama, e.g., change, education, to only name a couple of things, he then gets on the bandwagon. I get the feeling that he doesn't have any clear plans of what he is going to do if he wins. Isn't it best to prepare for whatever may be to come? McCain/Palin camp has also made a great deal of character, but what kind of character does McCain have….one who cheated a lot on his first wife? The Republicans go on as if they are so Christian, but they are such hippocrites. Christians do not behave the way they have behaved in this campaign. Quotes from the bible – “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight." and “He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.”

Why? Because Americans are taking another long, hard look at the GOP ticket of corruption, both of whom have been found guilty of beaking ethics laws.

Americans are saying, "these criminals (McCain/Palin) don't represent me and the values I hold dear".

Brielle   October 30th, 2008 9:03 am ET

Just because CNN is reporting the facts, it doesn't mean they are biased. The Republicans are just mad they're losing, and they're going to blame anyone they can, including the media. CNN makes a point of being fair and weighing both sides–don't you even watch the shows, "Time in Texas"? If McCain wanted to pay for advertising space on CNN's homepage, he would be there too, so quit whining–your candidate chooses to advertise to different audiences.

McCain is not a maverick, he is a coward who sold his soul to the right wing of the party.

KD   October 30th, 2008 9:02 am ET

I saw the Obama special last night, It was fantastic, he stayed right on message and showed he connects with the average american struggling to survive and did not once mention McCain. McBush, Palin and the GOP can't seem to voice a coherent policy without mentioning a democrat, go trying to say Obama is buying the election (I donate to twice to Obama, I decided to do without something I wanted to do so) I don't mind him doing the ad, you can bet if the GOP had the money they would have done it, they are just mad that they are getting beat at they own game. So they continue trying every dirty trick in the book (Karl Rove's book), but after 8 years americans have finally opened their eyes. We are watching closely now and watching the voting machines. To all the Democrats and Independents who are sick of the GOP and their tactics: get out and vote, to students: get out and vote, everyone needs to help those that don't have a ride get to the polls. Last night CNN's subheads, kept flashing things like 'Is Obama Trying To Buy The Election?' And Lou Dobbs is *very* anti-Obama. So I definitely do not consider CNN to be in the tank for Obama. MSNBC? Sure, like Fox is in the tank for McCain. In answer to the first question, I'd say Obama's *supporters* are trying to buy the election, one $25 donation at a time. Unlike any previous election, individuals are voting with their wallets and they've already elected Barack Obama. Now we get to see whether the results hold up on November 4.

There isn't a link on here Tim in Texas for the McCain camp because they can't afford to buy it and I'm pretty sure CNN doesn't give discounts on links. Barrack bought the link on the website as an advertisement, which any citizen, business owner, or presidential candidate has the right to do. Victor, Barrack isn't buying the presidency, because it's something that can't be bought. He's only using an advantage in hard earned solicitations of the American people. Anything otherwise is only an accusation, and a falsehood. You nor Sarah Palin or McCain are smarter than the FBI and if there was a direct involvement with Obama in a campaign funding theft ring, he'd be on the news yesterday. He is black remember. Unless you think the FBi is in the tank for Obama also…

California Gold   October 30th, 2008 8:58 am ET

After weeks and weeks of nonstop personal attacks, inuendo, blatant name calling, and general fear mongering it is clear the 30-minute campaign video by Barack Obama made it very difficult for the voter to reconcile the McCain-Palin portrayal of Obama as a supposed evil terrorist socialist: the man in the video. No wonder McCain is in a tizzy. He just regrets he didn't have a 30-minute spot scheduled for 8:30.

I do believe the Obama campaign will be the gold standard for effective campaigning. Let's hope the sickening McCain-Palin tactics are abandoned or at the most severely limited.

joseph marcucilli   October 30th, 2008 8:58 am ET

It is not money that bought the election but small contributions averaging 86 dollars. The point of buying elections is when you have large contributors you owe favors to.People like Obama well enough to send him money.I guess that is why McCain took public financing, since the poeple do not like him well enough.

Joe Green   October 30th, 2008 8:58 am ET

I saw Obama's cartoon last night on youtube.

I'm going to vote for him anyway.

What a waste of 30 minutes, though.

Doug R.   October 30th, 2008 8:58 am ET

The people will speak and McCain deserves to be publicly humiliated on 11/04/08. He has run a dirty, dishonest, and fraudelant campaign. Nothing good or positive, just smears and attacks and lies. He has become angry, nasty, and very frustrated. It's written all over his face.
And Palin is the very worst possible selection as a VP running mate. She has no clue what she's doing or talking about. You cannot be serious to believe she is ready to be President if something happens to old man McCain.
The choice is crystal clear…Obama/ Biden 08.

I don't have an idea about the economy but I know how to fight. I have fought all my life and I have scars to prove it. I will continue the fight in Iraq until we take it as the 51st state of the US. I have fought Obama and I have scars to prove it, my friends. I will give the richest people a tax break. No health insurance. I shall continue with Bush's policies 90% in line with the time I have voted with him. The exception will be that Sarah Palin will get a clothing allowance of only US$ 150000 per month and a make up allowance of US$22,000 per week from the government. She will also get a jet to take her kids to school. I have nothing else to offer you. Please offer me youe vote and elect me as your President.

I wish McCain would be a true American hero and accept defeat with dignity, but I'm afraid the republicans will do everything they can to steal this election. We must all vote and watch carefully to see that this is done in a just and legal way. Palin is the Anti-Christ – do not trust her or her minions!

As a Psychiatric Nurse, I see distrubing behavior exhibited by McCain. One moment he is grinning, the next he flys off the handle and almost spits malicious statements. His body language and facial expressions give him away even when he has his mouth under control. I know how long he spent in a prison cell , under torture, and I cannot believe this man does not have risidual mental health issues. When he is pressed by the media, his stress is evident and he does not react well. I admire his service to the country, but I don't want him as the President when we are in a time in history which requires strong, steady temperment and strategy.

Sen. Obama is admired and respected across this world we all live in. The world has not been this excited since Nelson Mandela was released and transformed this country.
And yes, he was called every name under the sun by a lot of right wing nuts.
Sen. Obama, this South African wishes you the best for the future and look forward to you being a responsible, level-headed, smart, diplomatic (which America has been lacking for the last 8 years) president of the US of A.
I hope that every registered voter gets off their backside's and goes to VOTE!

OK, so I'm not rich enough to be a Republican, and not dumb enough to be a Democrat. We need to rid ourselves of these pollitical parties, as George Washington advised. With the 2 party system, there is only room for the extremes, while most people are somewhere in the middle.

We need an America of the PEOPLE, with people who are responsible for themselves and their own actions. WE DON"T NEED THE GOVT. TO WIPE OUR BUTTS FOR US OR PROTECT US FROM OURSELVES.

I guess another vote for the Libertarians in in order just as another message.

John McCain and Sarah Palin have a lot of nerve trying to connect
Barack Obama to Rashid Khalidi. Here is McCain's connection:

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.
A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, "West Bank"). The grants totaled more
than $800,000.

Paul DObro   October 30th, 2008 8:53 am ET

Why doesn't CNN review the editorials running totals? It is very interesting that the McCain campaign can claim Obama is a terrorist, a solcialist, enemy of Isreal, and unprepared when the eidrial boards, which split basically 50-50 in 2004 and historically have favored the GOP can be 222-104 for Obama and with a circulation of 21 million to 7 million.

I mean, over 40 have swiched from Bush 04 to Obama 08 and only 4 (in former confederate states) swiched Kerry to McCain.

Tim in Texas:

Stop whining. If Mccain loses this election and it appears he will it will be no one's fault but John McCains. And here is why…..

Picks a lousy VP running mate that is killing him in this election.
Decides to go negative rather than staying above board.
Exchanges his positive war hero and experience arguement with negative attacks against his opponent.
Lacks a single consistent message (is all over the place).
Ignores the middle/independents while playing to his base.
Ignores the Hispanic voters.
Attacks Bush policies but fails to propose anything new (until it was too late).
Tries several grandstand moves that backfire on him (suspending his campaign during the bailout votes).
Fails to drop the appaearance of a grumpy old man that allows for questions regarding his temperment.
Listens to Bush advisors rather than controling his own campaign like the maverick he was in 2000.

These and other errors on his part is what cost McCain this electioon. Not the media nor anyone else.

So stop whining.

I will continue to see there rethoric as purly "entertainment"

Joe   October 30th, 2008 8:51 am ET

For anyone who hasn't already voted, and those who haven't yet decided who to vote for:

Consider the "Wealth Redistribution" that will occur if, as he intends to do, Obama succeeds in giving:

(1) Amnesty, citizenship, and full voting rights

(2) Medical Insurance,

(3) Social Security, and

(4) Welfare, Food Stamps, etc.

to the 11 million (or more) Illegal Immigrants who

(A) are already here, plus

(B) the untold number who will come here immediately when they hear about it!

That will: (1) buy the democrats the votes of those people for a long time (the goal),

(2) require taxing a lot more than the "top 5%" to pay for it,

(3) bankrupt this country, and possibly bring on Socialism as a result (possible goal)

(4) happen if Obama is elected, with democrats controlling the House and Senate.

You can (A) vote to let it happen, or

(B) vote to prevent it.

This is the whole Republican ideology that we cannot be friends with people we don't agree with, and if we are friends with them we are just like them? Its ridiculous!!! I am LONG-TIME friends with Republicans, does this mean I have Republican views??? NO! Don't drink the McCain/Palin KOOL-AID!!! Anytime two countries are at war one always thinks its the other ones fault. Being a Palestian blaming Isreal for the conflict does not make you like a "NEO-NAZI" as McCain is comparing it to. Tim,

It's advertising. Obama has space on the Web and on TV bought and paid for. It's the American way. Quit whining. You've never seen "unbiased" in your life.

As much as it makes logical sense for Obama to become president, I still have a very bad feeling about Tuesday. Bush is manufacturing a military crisis as we speak, and I have no doubt he intends it as a political gift for McCain's use.

Besides, the McCain campaign is relentless in repeating every imprecation that comes into their rotten little noggins, and there are still a LOT of stupid Americans out there looking for an excuse to vote against Obama. Lots of people willing to have their political opinions shaped by fictional characters in the news.

Please, America, prove I'm underestimating you.

They are playing with dangerous fire to try and win this election and it will get them no where. Have they already forgotten how unhappy the made the American people when they tried this the first time?

The question that I have for anyone who believes some of the lies out there about Obama. If he is the things that McCain say's he is, Marxist, socialist, PLO supporter and terrorist supporter how did he get vetted to be a state Senator and then a U.S. Senator? The thing I find most pleasing is that the more negative the tone of the McCain/Palin campaign, the lower the numbers they get in the polls. It is refreshing to see negative campaigning backfiring. Obama is clearly head and shoulders above McCain in intelligence, emotional stability, ability to get along with others, to make a long term strategy (two year campaign) that was so well planned out. This is the WORST campaign ever.

Matt Shine   October 30th, 2008 8:44 am ET

Sorry Tim, but CNN was one of only two networks (the other was ABC and that was the Obama campaigns choice) not to air the 30 min presentation last night. Even Faux news aired that.

I would say CNN is one of the more balanced stations out there. If you see only negativity towards McCain, there's a good reason. Perhaps you should wake up and realize why.

Besides, if the McCain camp wanted to buy ad space on the CNN site, they could have (or maybe they can't given their fiscal situations).

Tim in Texas- the "link" is a paid advertisement, and McCain could pay to have one on CNN's website- as a matter of fact, I think there is an advertisement from the McCain campaign.

Stop looking to place the blame for your favored candidates flaws on someone or something else. The McCain candidacy does not appeal to a majority of voters, plain and simple. This is no "conspiracy"- it is fact.

Stop acting like a snivelling 5 year old- sometimes you just don't get what you want!

Extremists from any party are a sure-fire way to lose an election and McCain has listened to them and he has paid with losing not only this election but any self-respect as he will find out when he takes a long look in the mirror on November 5th when it's all over. He's become so nasty that even republicans can't stand it.

His choice of Palin just further illustrates his poor judgement and will probably take much of the blame for his resounding defeat as will his dramatic personality change.

Little credit will be given to Obama's carefully thought out plans, policies and vision for America.McCain and the republican party will say it was because of all the money that the Obama campaign had and will go through a witch hunt just to make us forget how nasty they've become.

However,McCain will have to look himself in the eye and deal with the man he has become and not the man he was.He is the one with the final say as to how his campaign has been run and he has no one to blame but himself for that!

McCain's campaign is paid for by my tax dollars.

MCCain is the socialist and is on welfare with my tax dollars paying for his campaign. Too bad you can't figure that out for yourself.

Beth   October 30th, 2008 8:41 am ET

Victor,

Not sure what you mean about your comment "I am feeling sorry for the American where only MONEY can buy presidency!"

Are you talking about Senator Obama's ad? Why is it so hard for Republicans to understand that all those millions of dollars were given to Senator Obama because people believe in him! Do any of you think that the American people are stupid enough to part with their hard earned money in times like this without a good reason? People gave that money to change the current system, to do away with the old and get someone into the White House who will work for them. What you see when you see all those dollars is millions of peoples love, trust and hope in Senator Obama. Now, go out everyone and vote!!!

BJGT   October 30th, 2008 8:40 am ET

The only thing that's working for the McCain campaign is the daily inciting of rage, fear and hatred among the people at his and Palin's rallies.

MarkieBee   October 30th, 2008 8:40 am ET

Hey Tim, it's called advertising. You see, pay attention here, Obama has A LOT MORE MONEY than McFailin' right now and he's spending it on advertising. Hit your refresh button if you'll likely see something different.

larryprouse   October 30th, 2008 8:40 am ET

Tim in Texas When will you Rep. learn that hate and bashing the media is considered the politics of the past by most Americans. This is the reason why you will loose this election . Your candidate has no answer to the problems we face. The rest of the country except for you few right wingers will move on the face the challenges of the future but unlike your party, we will welcome you when you decide to catch up.

michael   October 30th, 2008 8:40 am ET

To me the decision is pretty easy — Over the last year, my decision has gotten easier and easier as the number of reasons to vote for my candidate continue to increase — NOW,

One candidate has talked about uniting the country.
The other continues to try and attck the character of their opponent rather than talking about what the country needs.

If nothing up to this point has convinced you to vote for Obama,, maybe that should.

James L   October 30th, 2008 8:40 am ET

Wow. .. I must say I was very impressed with the 30 minute slot. … nice clean politics at its best. … and not once did He bash John McCain or the GOP. He simply put his platform in primetime and it was really well done. … Now that's how this thing is suspose to work. The GOP, John and Sarah will come out complaining today but will offer no solutions, they will try to distract and tie Obama to someone or something somebody said or did, but THEY will offer no solutions. …. Sad but true. … Wow. …

CNN is if anything bias for McCain. They carry more stories about him, and WAY more about Palin. And she seems to have a really fan club with some of the Commentators (which is Bias AND Bull)…

Perhaps tho, Obama is really NEWS–and History in the making rather than the repetetive same old hate spewing from McCain et. al. Blather blather blather. How many times should the keep covering the same story????

Go Barack. Tim, Obama obviously BOUGHT that space on the CNN website, are you that blind? It's advertising…you know, positive advertising. McCain could have his own space, but he's rather send out "Terrorist" flyers and slimy robocalls. That's why he's behind and falling…negative ads don't work any more.

AM   October 30th, 2008 8:38 am ET

The Palin pick can only rally a hard core Republican base. It has alienated the independents across the country. For his first major decision, McCain failed…and the rest is history (or will be on Nov 5 th).

Jim in Texas   October 30th, 2008 8:38 am ET

Hey, Tim in Texas-

If McCain knew what the Internet was, he could also pay to have his banner ads displayed on this site. The Obama campaign paid for it. It works both ways. Obama's campaign is just smarter, frankly. Too bad your guy can't figure it out. But it's ok – he'll have plenty of time to think things over once he bows out next week.

You are one of the dingbats who pick on Obama's middle name as though it has some kind of hidden meaning. Did it ever occur to you that Cain, the name of the evil, murdering biblical son, has a little meaning itself? Ever hear of the mark of Cain? Maybe God marked McCain's face to warn us against him. Small-minded people like you never notice the bigger picture, so I thought I'd point this out.

Somesh Ponmani   October 30th, 2008 8:37 am ET

I agree with Victor. In these unprecedented times of crisis, unless one has a magic wand, things are not going to improve overnight. Let us all brace ourselves for some hard times before we see the light at the end of the tunnel. Mccain's bosom pals took the country to the end of abyss after being at it for the last eight years and it is time, we vote for a real change.

andreas   October 30th, 2008 8:35 am ET

What's even more awesome is the early voting numbers so far. As of yesterday, there were 160,000 votes cast for dems in Nevada versus 90,000 for republicans. We got a 70,000 vote lead in a state that Bush won last time 418,000 to 397,000. At the pace we're going, the race will be over BEFORE election day : )

Do not put anything past the GOP and the McCain camp. They are already lying. Get ready for them to cheat and steal to win this election. We must vote.

Daniel   October 30th, 2008 8:33 am ET

Tim, the media exists to sell itself, therefore, it exists to report on what people want. The media is not a "liberal rogue agent" as typical GOP hysterics would suggest. They do extensive market research and then cover what's hot. More people are donating to Obama, more people are talking about him, so it only follows that he receives more press. The public has always created the demand for what stations like CNN show — yes, even Fox news — so it's a ridiculous premise to accuse CNN and the media of being in the tank for Obama. Coverage, for the large part, has been fair – and let's not forget that Obama had to defend himself against Rev. Wright, but by and large there has been no mention of Palin's fundamentalist pastor making inflammatory statements towards Muslims.

INDEPENDANT VET   October 30th, 2008 8:32 am ET

Seems likeevery McCain Palin supporter has a bad attitude. It has been geeting worse as the polls continue to show Obama leading. Back a few weeks when things werelooking better for McCain they were quick to point out that Obama supporters were being nasty about the way things were going. Maybe they have listened to the LIES for so long they really think they are ture. One thing for sure they will have to accept the new president just as the Dems had to accept Bush in 2000 after he had the cort apoint him president because he did not WIN

Don from Miane   October 30th, 2008 8:30 am ET

McSenile is right-change is coming, only he and Palin won;t be a part of it.. Americans have had enough of of the negativity and lies. 8 uears of republican rule have left the economy in shambles. all of McCain;s military experience becomes a moot point-we haven't had any terroriist activities here in america since 9/11, McCain himself stated that he did'nt know much aboyt the economy. Palin doesn't seem to know much about anything. It is no wonder the tide is turning in several republican stronghold states. Calm cool reasonable and intelligent leadership behavior trumps angry rhetoric and lies. Having come from a military family, been a POW and then a senator does not mean you are owed 4 years at the white house. There is no doubt that McCain loves america-however the elite america that he wants to preserve is not the america that most of us hard working people live. I only have 1 house and 1 car-I don't wear $500.00 shoes and I'm not married to a millionaire heiress. I think the corporate tax loopholes should be closed and I agree with Obama that in a country as great as america health care should be a right to all citizens. I agree we should stop this useless war in iraq and spend that 10 billion a month right here in america. Get out and vote for your childrens future. Yes we can and yes wel will.

Last night when Sen Obama said abot not being a perfect man and how he won't be the perfect president but he is going to do his best and that he will keep an open mind when people disagree with him, to me that is intelligence. Most people can see that Obama has a better Tax plan for them. Only the few that make over $250,000.00 are afraid they might have to pay 3% more TAX. If someone would pay me $250,000.00 I would gladly pay the extra tax. I would still end up with a lot more money than I make now.

and one more thing oh great CNN – it is quite evident who YOU favor, promote, cater to, kiss you no what of, etc, etc. I don't see a link on your website to the McCain campaign but you can't get away from Barack Hussein Obama II on your website. He is the most prevalent thing on your site. Shame on you for you "unbiased"????? stance.

Candy West Virginia   October 30th, 2008 8:16 am ET

Did it ever occur to you rethuglicans that if there was any truth to the lies that mccain/palin spew, they would have been uncovered by now?? No it doesn't occur to you people because your foundation is hate and hate brews hate so you are willing to believe anything to foster your hate. All this terrorists ties, socialism, marxism crap your hearing is lies put out by a desperate team for the truly ignorant to swallow hole. You should feel insulted that your candidates take you for fools and know that in your hate you will believe what they want you to believe. It is sad and I feel sorry for you people.

Independent from PA   October 30th, 2008 8:15 am ET

As Obama said, let's vote and not take this as 'in the bag.' We need to vote out those who would use divisiveness and race-baiting to the highest office. Americans are sick of it; and hopefully Shrill Palin will go back to Alaska soon!

Fatal Blow   October 30th, 2008 8:14 am ET

Cool, come on Palin/McCain, keep up the attacks, we are looking for a landslide here

becky   October 30th, 2008 8:14 am ET

I pray that the people who support McCain wake up and see the truth!
You have been lied to by McCain & Palin . Listen to many other Republicans that see the truth and are supporting Obama.
Also….
Why on the fact check on Palin's comment about Rashid Khalidi did CNN not also point out that a group McCain was part of gave Khalidi $450,000? Is it because you are biased?

America is broken and we need INTELLIGENCE in the White House.

To
Dawn Chisholm:
I would rather give all my tax dollars to the people of THIS country than to Iraq. You, my dear, are fooling yourself. You have to work in this country to get a tax break!
My husband and I will glady pay more taxes to fix our broken country. Why is our country broken? Because of narrow minds such as yours. Vote Democrat – we just can't take any more help from the Republicans. Too many jobs lost, too many without healthcare, too many seniors who cannot heat their homes and the list goes on and on and on. Thanks, Republicans for totaling screwing up our country!

Thanks for all you have done for our country, but now it is time to go.

Ken in NC   October 30th, 2008 8:12 am ET

McCain could have won the election but his staff controlled him enough to make him run contrary to what he is. Had he run his campaign on Honor and Clean as he said he would do then the nation would have elected a National Hero as it's next leader. Instead his staff ran him as "Another dirty Politician".

McCain is the captain of his ship and it was his responsibility to stop and change the direction they pointed him in but he did not do it so in conclusion, he shot himself in the foot.

Dawn   October 30th, 2008 8:11 am ET

I hope that he does win in Pennsylvania.. I watched his infomercial, and yet the Phillies did win the World Series? Mmmm… was Obama a good luck charm for them? LOL

I do not like baseball, but this is the first win for them in 28 years, it was in 1980 when the last time they won.

Go Obama/Biden08/12

Mel B.   October 30th, 2008 8:11 am ET

Has anyone bothered to bring up or ask McCain why is his state the only one in the nation that doesn celebrate Martin Luther King Day? You would think every minority in the state of Arizona would be voting for anyone but him!!! It just makes me wonder about McCain

Patriot   October 30th, 2008 8:11 am ET

Get out and vote for real change! Vote Obama!

theogracias   October 30th, 2008 8:10 am ET

Wow this is great news for John McCain.

JV   October 30th, 2008 8:10 am ET

OBAMA 08.

REDNECKS LOVE OBAMA   October 30th, 2008 8:09 am ET

Excellent news….. Voters are "SMARTER" this year…. McCain will NOT DIVIDE AND DESTROY our Country. I VOTED for Obama because I want our great country to be U-N-I-T-E-D.

On the home stretch   October 30th, 2008 8:07 am ET

Obama supporters… don't get too confident with these poll figures. The most important thing at this point is to get out the vote on Tuesday. You, your friends, your neighbours, your colleagues. Don't worry which way they will vote, just get them out there. Given the way this is going, the more people that vote from across the political spectrum, the better Obama's chances. VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!

AJ   October 30th, 2008 8:06 am ET

And I bet you folks at CNN are wetting your pants with glee??
I am a lifelong Democrat who was unable, for the first time in my life, to vote for President when I mailed in my absentee ballot. I think the thought of either McCain or Obama to be nauseating. I sincerely hope that Obama is as good as he thinks he is because there are serious problems for the nation ahead. I'm not counting on it though; I think it will be a disaster.

Michigan Voter   October 30th, 2008 8:04 am ET

As usual, polls are meaningless. They also showed Kerry ahead in 2004. The only meaningful poll will be on Nov. 4.

Deer Hunter for Obama   October 30th, 2008 8:01 am ET

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOVA   October 30th, 2008 8:01 am ET

Lets keep on gaining…

If you haven't voted yet, and you can early vote – GO DO IT! and take a friend or family member with you.

If you're waiting until the 4th, get to the polls at like 5AM!!

Lets take our country back from the crooks and businessmen!!
