(CNN) - Even before the economic crisis, voters listed the economy as the top issue in the presidential election.

In a CNN.com special report, Battleground Voters, we talked to voters in five battleground states - Colorado, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio - to find out how the economy would influence their choice for president.

In the last of four parts, we talked to the unemployed, who say keeping jobs in their communities and in the country is key to their vote.

How do we keep jobs in America? 1. Quit penalizing American companies with higher taxes and encourage American jobs by American people! 2. Allow people to keep more of their own money! 3. Quit lying about socialism being good for the US economy!

Ps. Why do all the Obama supporters attack McCain-Palin in order to support Obama instead of touting Obama's platform? Is it true they don't even know what Obama stands for?

Cricket   October 31st, 2008 4:41 pm ET

I don't understand how anyone can feel "safe" if McCain is in office and we have a terrorist threat or international crisis. His temperament alone scares me. And his poor judgement just makes it that much worse.

OBAM/BIDEN

PDXGal   October 31st, 2008 4:39 pm ET

Anybody that seriously thinks that McCain can bring jobs back is lying to themselves.

Seriously- if you can't see through the right wing fear machine by now, it's likely because you do not want to.

Luckily, most of the US is more concerned about the economic health of our nation, rather than nursing their own prejudices.

Jason   October 31st, 2008 4:28 pm ET

In 2006 the economy was strong. It was'nt until the democrats took over the senate that thing started to go south. They are the ones to blame for getting nothing done and turning a blind eye. Obama made out well off of freddie and fannie and then has the nerve to joke about people loosing their homes at that black-tie dinner two week ago? I love Obama slogan now " Look in the rearview mirror" . With Obama why do we want to look in the rearview mirror when he has Rev Wright, Rashid Khalidi, and William Ayers riding shotgun in the front with him. You can look on youtube to see Obama mocking the bible. Then he removes the flag off of his plane and does not salute the flag among many other things and you all want to elect this guy. ((Come on Americans!!!))

HEY SARAH,
I hear Walmart is hiring! Think you can handle a cash register! My 18 year old son can. Sorry, I know its quite a step up for you!

John, if you had picked anyone else, you might have had a chance–a slim one, but a chance anyway.

Lets elect Obama/Biden and restore this country back to promise of having a job, health insurance, etc. Like it was back before Bush took over the presidency.

We hear the scare tactics being spewed out by the McCain campaign..We even hear talk of a potential message from Usama Bin Laden. Bin Laden must be a republican operative..after all they supported his Jihad effort in the 80's.

What has McCain said that makes people want to vote for him? – Be afraid of Obama.

Is Cowardice a new American characteristic?

We hear the Reps. warning of disaster under democratic leadership.. Funny how they can always see fault with others when they are exponentially worse.

BS not Maverick   October 31st, 2008 4:09 pm ET

Obama is the one with the best plant to create jobs. McCain is the same old bologna sandwich.

Liz in Texas   October 31st, 2008 4:08 pm ET

Some of you need to ask yourself why many Reagan Republicans have and are a switching over to Obama. Many Republican friends of McCain that know McCain have switched over to Obama. You're not seeing it the other way around. I think they know alot more about McCain than you. If that doesn't tell you something then I don't know what does. Along with the fact that McCain has run a horrible campaign and his first executive decision was to pick Palin as his running mate which tells us what kind of judgement he has.

Jan   October 31st, 2008 4:08 pm ET

Ok. I am one of those undecided voters here trying to determine which way my vote will go this weekend when I vote early.

I would like to hear from each side why I should vote for your candidate. Persuade me why your candidate is the best one suitable for the most important job in the nation. By the way, we have 11 undecides in our family that will be taking your words to heart.

I await with great anticipation your answers.

Thanks.

When shall you stop this deception!   October 31st, 2008 4:08 pm ET

- Why are Sen. McCain and his team using Joe the Plumber the Fraud to insinuate that "Obama's Presidency will mean the death of Israel"?
- Why has Sen. McCain not allowed Sarah Palin as promised alone to do interview with LKL, if she is qualified to be a VP of USA?
- Why is Sarah Palin’s windfall tax distribution to Alaskans not wealth distribution and “socialism”?
- Why are those checks from Bush Administration last May not wealth distribution and “socialism”?
Sarah Palin is a Fraud and must bet stopped before she messes up USA and the world!

Rose   October 31st, 2008 4:06 pm ET

Obama doesnt care about jobs, he cares about getting elected. He will say or do anything to accomplish that. Obama will be a disaster.

_________________________________________________

Sorry Ted but you are obviously confusing Obama with McCain. He is the one who is saying any and everything to try and get elected. I do not see that as country first, I see that as his needs above all else go the hell. He throws out lies and sees which ones will stick. That is dirty.

Obama has been saying and doing the same thing from the beginning. Who is putting party first? He is not trashing the Republican Party like McCain is trashing the Democrats party because he knows that it was not all Republicans but the Bush White house and all his buddies like McCain who sold our country down the toilet.

I what to know what if McCain does wins? Will he has continued to divide this country with the us vs them attitude who is going to want to work with him? It will be just like a Bush white house all over again. Thinking that he is the only party and his way is the only way that is right. Very prejudiced narrow way of thinking and not good for America that is a country of many different points of view.

Obama is trying to include everyone under his plan for American and I can see anyone would want to work for him and with him from any party.

AJ   October 31st, 2008 4:04 pm ET

COLORADO   October 31st, 2008 4:04 pm ET

What are we now, 900,000 jobs lost just this year? And all at the helm of a Republican administration, namely Bush? McCain doesn't care about jobs, he cares about giving big tax cuts to big corporations, and the employee doesn't see a dime of it. McCain is bad for America and dangerous for the American workforce. VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN and help get the U.S. back on track!

alan popper   October 31st, 2008 4:04 pm ET

For those who think Europe and Asia vote for Obama, think again. America has become the greatest and most affluent nation on earth because of our free enterprise spirit. Other nations envy us. Do you want to join them and become a socialist state? That's not America.

Marcie, Toronto   October 31st, 2008 3:59 pm ET

McCain say tbe Bush administration and Washington ruin the economy and the country and he is going to change all that when he gets to Washington. How is he going do that, when all the same people will be in the senate and the congtess with supporting him. They are all running for re-election. IS HE GOING TO CLEAN HOUSE? HO? OR IS HE AND SARAH PALIN GOING TO RUN WASHINGTON BY THEMSELVES?

I cann't wait to see how he is going to accomplish this.

RRR   October 31st, 2008 3:59 pm ET

Jon, don't worry if you made a lot of money in your last job, it would still be as if you are unemployed if Obama takes over.
The reason the Dem. think things will get better is because anyone who makes over $150K will not be asking for a raise so they don't have to maintain the slackers who don't want to work and feel everything should be handed to them because they were not born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Shameful , we live in the greatest country in the world with every opportunity available to lift ourselves out of poverty, and people feel the rich should pay for the ones who feel they are entitle to a free ride in life.
McCain is no saint either, but I feel safer with him then allowing the slackers take over the country.
I work hard for the things I have, everyone in this country can do the same.

Bill Swift   October 31st, 2008 3:57 pm ET

We should hope tons of jobs are created but we all know that is simply not true at all. Over the last 8 yrs we've seen the complete cataclysm and dissapation of American jobs. Please someone tell me if campaigns are run by volunteers not including the main staff, tell me where are the jobs created? I mean really it's like saying we all should intern at GE for free. Mainstream American is hurting Jack! Hurting in a very bad way.

Bill:

I have an important question for you since you seem to have an opinion about abortion even though you will never have to make that choice.

When a woman gets pregnant and cannot or does not want to have a baby AND the father of that baby does not want to have a baby – why should the woman have to suffer – yes, suffer financially, emotionally, socially – but the father of that child does not. My point here is that THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT EVER CONSIDER FORCING THE FATHER OF THAT UNWANTED CHILD TO KEEP THAT CHILD – SO WHY SHOULD IT FORCE THE MOTHER? HMMMM? Double standard, maybe. Get a life, you make me sick.

Dean in Florida   October 31st, 2008 3:51 pm ET

CNN's Early Voting map is hilarious. Breakdown by party is only supplied if more Dems voted than Republicans. Otherwise, all votes are lumped together. That's a very good sign for Republicans. Thanks for the info CNN.

Cynic   October 31st, 2008 3:50 pm ET

The last eight years of Bush have been hell. And, the next eight years look just as bleak. It's a sad day for our country when we have suffered through a Bush/Cheney Administration only to find our two choices for President are a community organizer and an old man. When is this country going to get a candidate who really cares about America as a whole, not just a segment of the population? I guess never given the ridiculous and immature reasons that people give here for voting for either one of the candidates.

Ty   October 31st, 2008 3:48 pm ET

To "McCain is Comfort Food":
Can you really take "Comfort" in knowing that there's a REAL possibility that PALIN might have to take over as PRESIDENT should something happen to "Comfort-food McCain"? How safe do you really feel about THAT possibility? I feel a whole lot safer knowing that if something were to happen to OBAMA(God forbid), the U.S. would be in very CAPABLE hands with Joe Biden. I actually feel that we'd actually be more vulnerable as a country with John McCain because of his questionable temperament and terrible judgment. His years of military service...although honorable...do not make him the safer or "more comfortable" choice; I do respect your opinion, however.
OBAMA/BIDEN-THE SAFE AND SMART CHOICE!!!

Jennifer   October 31st, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Bill...Good for you bill. Coz abortion is the last thing americans should think about deciding whom they should vote right, given the condition of economy. Pro-choice people dont understand that they cannot tell other person to believe in the things(life starts at conception) which are solely based on their religious faiith. There are lot other non-christians who are as much devotees to their religions as christians but might not have same opinion about abortion. Why you want to enforce on them to believe what your religion says? Where is the freedom for religion?

McCain 2008   October 31st, 2008 3:47 pm ET

I don't think any comment made on here is going to change my vote. Especially when the only ones seem to be saying people are ignorant, uninformed, or stupid if they have different views than yours.

I an not a racist, do not care about the religious back ground of the president, am very well informed on the issues, do care about experience, do care about friends of the candidates but not acquaintances, and on all the issues important to me believe totally that McCain is the better choice for President.

I do believe it is Fannie Mae and government regulation that caused the banking fiasco. I believe that raising taxes on those that make over $250,000 a year or on corporations will only move jobs and investments out of this country, (I do not make over $250,000 a year by the way), do not believe most of the promises that Obama has made because a president probably has less to do with laws and regulations than congress so why make promises you can't keep and such bold promises. I do believe that since the democrats took over congress things have gotten worse through their leadership.

So if Obama is the choice, please, please, please realize that the current democratic congress has to go!!! Go ahead and vote for Obama for president, that's your right as mine is to vote for McCain, but vote out the democratic congress.

Bigbubba   October 31st, 2008 3:45 pm ET

For McCain to win he only needs to do four things:

1. Replace Palin with C. Rice.

2. Go on National TV and admit his negative campaign was wrong for the country and wrong for the Republican party.

3. Go ahead and copy the rest of Obama's programs as his own, not just the ones he has already stolen and claimed.

4. Visit every state not looking to go staunchly Red already and lay out real programs instead of just telling us he has ideas and he will tell us about them after the election.

In reality, he will still lose the election, but he will at least appear to have some trace of dignity and self-pride. Something sadly lacking in his campaign this year.

Gilbert   October 31st, 2008 3:44 pm ET

McCain is only going to make things worse in this country. he's out of touch and doesn't really know what's going on half the time. The other half of the time his main focus is on keeping his republican friends happy. Just look at how many former Bush employee's he has running his show.
MCCain 08 = more of the same.

90's Democrats in power, one of the greatest times in american history

2000+ Republicans in country = THE EXACT OPPOSITE

Leigh:

Please post here one actual courageous, heroic thing that McCain did.

Hero: a man noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, one who has risked or sacrificed his life. Now, note that this risks and sacrifices must not be of one's own making, as in you engage in risky behaviour to satisfy your own need for excitement. So McCain flying stupid over Hanoi (he admitted he didn't do as he should have) and getting shot down due to his own recklessness, does not a hero make.

The only person who is qualified? McCain? Are we talking about the same senile old man and his air-head running mate. What qualifications are talking about? More experience playing the politics game? More experience using his position to influence others and profit from his actions? More experience in lying to the public?

The truth is that McCain is the Repub nominee because the party did not have anyone else that could approach the middle ground in any way. McCain does not live in the middle either, he is just better at lying to people to make them think he is somewhat moderate. You are as pathetic as he is!

The problem with imports/exports is the labor over seas. it's cheaper to ship metal to Japan, make a car, then ship the car to america and sell it that it is to simply make it here. We need to bring tarriffs back on imported items that have crushed US industries. I am a democrat and will vote for Obama, but Clinton really screwed us on NAFTA.

Beyond that McCain is NOT the answer. All his promises of not spending and this that and the third will only lead this country into more of a mess than it's already in.

it's been said over and over again, if he has all these great ideas then why wait till NOW to speak up? We could have used these "answers" long ago

Lucille Mann   October 31st, 2008 3:34 pm ET

What is the matter with saying that a woman should not have to suffer for the rest of her life because of an unwanted pregnancy? That is simply a fact. I had a baby when I was 17 years old and though I love my son, it was not easy raising him at that young age. I was not ready then for child rearing.

Obama did not mean that we should not love our children and care for them, he meant that it would be hard to have a baby at a young age with someone you might not even be in love with.

We have to face facts and put some realism in our decisions.

I used to like John McCain, but his entire campaign has been to bash Obama. If he could speak just once, just once and not mention Obama's name but tell us his policies, I would be so grateful. I still don't know what he plans to do but I do know that he can bash Obama like any street thug. Enough already!

There's a five-year backlog for offshore drilling rigs. "Drill, baby, drill" is an empty slogan McCain's throwing out as a smokescreen. We won't be expanding offshore drilling significantly, because it's beyond our capability.

To create new jobs won't be easy if GM and Chrysler both keep strugling as they are.

The foreign companies of Toyota and Honda do not pay taxes for the public schools, roads, or anything else. They might make a donation here or there, but 95% of the money earned here goes back to China and Japan.

If Chrysler and Gm go under, it will also be the people employed at the dealers, the parts people, the independent restaurant workers across the street from big employment complexes....this is going to be a lot worse than the mortgage crisis, and harder to come back from.

To whose it may concern: America rewarded Mccain with 26 years in congress and senate, more than many veterans who have and are still losing limbs in Iraq and viet, but coming back to sleep in the street due to bill gramm/Mcain/Bush deregulation and foreclosures.

I don't owe Mccain any more than I owe these people. THey deserve better health care, housing and employment than this administration has offered. we need change for other vets to get a better chance under Obama/biden.

What we owe all Americans is a better future, in the global economy, not a reward for a viet vet of the 60s.

Lulu   October 31st, 2008 3:32 pm ET

The thing that makes Obama seemed to be the best choice is how he has organize and ran his campaign. How he brought millions, literally millions of people together and ran such a successful campaign. This alone shows the intelligent of the man. I can just imagine how that kind of intelligent could bring the country together and get the country moving forward for the better. John McCain wants to take the country backwards to the days when it was those people and us. Every time you listen to him or Palin or any of his supporters, you hear those liberal or those people are not one of us or like us or real Americans or Christians or hard workers. Bill Clinton said it the other night in Florida, when you go to an Obama campaign speech you see America, a diverse America, when you go to a McCain speeches you see the past America. Why is that? I will never understand why Americans at McCain's rallies do not want all Americans to do well and survive in this country and why that TRULY does not matter to them. And one of the biggest puzzle in my mind is that the majority of these people would have a better life with Obama and they don't get it because they are too busy looking for a reason to dislike a good man. I am an Obama supporter but I don't dislike McCain, I just think McCain is a bad candidate.

The economy is all about supply and demand. The extreme policy focus on the supply side of the economy has finally starved demand away to the point that the economy can't keep running. More supply-side policy will only make the economy worse. McCain doesn't understand this, so he takes the supplt-side policy he's been spoon-fed as dogma.

If elected, McCain's going to make Hoover look good.

First it was 250,000, then 200,000, then Biden told us 150,000 and now Richardson has stated 120,000. I guess Obama is getting his thugs to quote these so when he taxes us as rich, he can tell everyone, he wasnt the actual one who said it!!! McCain is a selfish, self centered egotistical old man and never has or does he care about main stream America!!! He NEVER worked in main stream America and no idea about it!!! Born with a silver spoon in his mouth!!
Obama cares deeply about Main stream America and has worked his entire life to produce jobs, jobs and more jobs for America and will do so when he is president!!!
THis AZ republican is voting Obama/Biden
I'm disgusted with the rep party, the robo calls are awful and McCain is way tooooo old and Palin doesn't have a clue what she is doing!!!!
Rep party–go back and check out Eisenhower's era and take some pointers!!! Skinheads and right wing radicals do not make up Eisenhowers republican party!!!

Did you say vote John McCain?   October 31st, 2008 3:16 pm ET

Whoa, thought it was too quiet on the "far-right-side" today. But here they are!

@ BILL: you know what's so hypocritical of the Pro-life vote? That you want to force your beliefs down the throat of women who do not share your beliefs! BUT..........when Bush/Cheney LIE and attack a sovereign nation, Iraq, killing countless civilians and 4400 American Soldiers......that's okay? You are either for LIFE or you are not!

God calls us to value ALL LIFE......NOT JUST THE BABY IN THE WOMB!
HOW ABOUT THE POOR?

How about the 4 MILLION American children who were DENIED healthcare BECAUSE BUSH VETOED AND MCCAIN VOTED AGAINST INCLUDING THEM IN THE .......S-CHIP INSURANCE?

ISN'T ALL...........LIFE.........SACRED? WHAT ABOUT THE EARTH? ITS CREATURES? THE ELDERLY?

You see, BILL, that the ISSUE of LIFE is much more complicated than JUST the Baby in the womb!

And its interesting that Catholics who vote "ONE ISSUE" want to force women to live by their values........but the SAME CATHOLICS DO NOT ALWAYS FOLLOW THE TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH, BECAUSE WE, PRO-LIFE CATHOLICS USE BIRTH CONTROL! WHICH IS ALSO IMMORAL AND AGAINST THE TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH!

Hypocritical to judge and condemn!

Birds of the same feathers flock together:

As a pilot, McCain was in his cockpit shooting down the poor and the weak ("Thou shalt not kill; no exceptions, period) until he was captured.

As a candidate, McCain chose a lady who shots animals from her own helicopter cockpit- Cowards.

True heros of this nation include: those who "face" the enemy in battle; those who feed the poor and the hungry (e.g., Late Mother Theresa); those who fight for the small people; those who stand up for losers!

I own a small business and use to be republican.
When I see how bad our economy is and how many small businesses are closing I have no choice than to vote Obama.
I think he will bring this country back to where we are going to have employment and health care.

Look at all the polls in Europe and even China they all want Obama to win.
I think that tells us something. Are we blind here? Why would anybody vote for McCain and the same old politics. He is along with Bush responsible for this mess we are in.
If McCain was really trying to help us he would have done it way before election, afterall he has been in senate for ever.

shahid   October 31st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

What I meant was: I have been unemployed several times in my career life. We tend to envy successful/wealthy people, but we must understand that they work very hard and long hours with many failures and losses before becoming successful. They have visions and guts. They are the ones who likely create jobs, innovate and contribute more in tax revenues to help run this country. They're also more likely donate a lot to good causes.

We need them around by not bashing on them or punishing them as Obama plans to do. His economic plan may sound ideal – just like Robinhood. But you know what Robinhood has been tested every where, including communist states, such as Russia, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, etc., and they all failed. The idea attracts a lot of young people who tend to be idealistic, but fails miserably in reality. Look at the country mentioned.

Hope you vote rationally, not emotionally.

Michael watching from Canada   October 31st, 2008 3:12 pm ET

Polls show that 80% of those of us outside the US see Obama as the best choice.

Fact: Any form of taxation redistributes wealth.

How can McCain suggest that Obama is a socialist when McCain's tax policies also redistribute wealth, but more for the wealthy!!

And how can McCain suggest that Obama is a socialist when it was Bush who spearheaded distribution of rebate cheques this past Spring?

And how can McCain suggest that Obama is a socialist when it was Bush's administration who initiated the bailout of AIG, the bailout of Lehman Brothers, the bailout of other banks and the $700B bailout for Wall Street??

Bill says he sold his "SOLE" for McCain. Hey Bill, why sell your shoes?
As for the Republicans desperately sceaming that one party government is a threat to democracy... I remember the Republicans having the House AND Senate AND Presidency in the Bush first term. I clearly remember the way Cheney & Rove ridiculed any who opposed them, coerced Colin Powell to lie to the UN, bullied countries around the world to back the invasion of Iraq, etc etc.
I for one am looking forward to the Republican Party being driven into the wilderness of obscurity for a good 40 years!

I will be voting for OBama. And as a vote I will think of Martin Luther King Jr, Thurgood Marshall, Medgar Evers, the 3 girls in the bombed Baptist Church in Atlanta, and the future! McCain is the last of us oldsters who have hung on far too long!

Thanks Hillary   October 31st, 2008 3:10 pm ET

Michael   October 31st, 2008 3:09 pm ET

Republicans had 6 years out of 8 and did little damage control over the ' plunder and pilaging ' of the country.. Decades of life work – saving and loan investments along with the surplus down the drain . I seen this coming long ago, the writing on the wall ... Share the borrowed Chinese money to pay for oil and borrow against our future was and is the reason tax is an issue at all . Deregulating a system in times of war was a republican blunder of the worse kind. Allowing employer lawlessness to go widely unchecked and allowing the unfair free trade to plunder the US job market was also a republican blunder which caused the home owner to loose ground and loose the american dream... Mccain shows Joe as concerned? Joe needs to be concerned that because of mccain backing unfair deregulation his business was doomed then .

What about Joe the in the unemployment line ? or Joe who cant proper feed or house his children ? Then there is Joe who cannot get health insurance ? Joe 's investments and life's savings all washed away because of the greed backed by deregulation ? rational reality is needed to bring the US back from the pits of insanity and selfishness by the few who managed to destroy the dream's and hope's of millions . This independent voter for Obama for rational change with the best interests of the people in mind .

Bill   October 31st, 2008 3:09 pm ET

If keeping their job is so important then I suppose they would not want major companies to start looking outside the United States. That is exactly what will happen if there is substantial increases in corporate taxes. They will do a combination of 3 things to compensate for more taxes: 1) eliminate jobs – the most costly expense running a business; 2) increase prices which in effect is a tax on buyers and 3) look to move in part or in total their business out of the United States to a business friendly country where taxes are lower and labor is cheaper.

Matt   October 31st, 2008 3:08 pm ET

Randian trickle-down reaganomics does NOT work. Cite evidence of it working in the past half century. Oh yeah, you can't because all the evidence shows that it doesn't work.

People who think that tax-cuts for the rich would trickle down to main street are living in a fantasy world. Those tax cuts are simply considered a widening of the profit margin and go straight into the excessive compensation packages given to executives. Most of them have compensation packages based on % to incentivize performace, i.e., a tax cut for them automatically raises their pay.

It's really funny how everone blames Bush and the republicans for this bad economy. I recall the first 6 years were pretty good, 4% unemployment, job growth exceptional, loan rates low etc...Then oil prices went crazy and took most other commodities with it. The answer is produce our own energy and let OPEC raise the price of oil to 7 million dollars a barrel if they like, we won't need it. The rest of the economy will fall into place on its own. Government is not the answer. Flat tax is by far the most fair, and kills bickering between parties.

People, take a look at California (which used to be my home) the liberals have hijacked that state with policies very similar to that of Obama's. It got to the point where I could not afford to live there and moved to a state that is (or was)run by Republicans, I finally was able to buy my first house, and generally afford to LIVE!

The Calif governor at the time was Grey Davis, he tried like hell to blame everything on Bush, but the people didn't buy that crap and ultimately was thrown out of office. Now poor Arnold is left to try to clean up the mess left by Davis, but he still has to battle the liberal state legislaters.

Let this my friends be an indication of what the country will go through. One problem though....where will we possibly move next?

onelove   October 31st, 2008 2:58 pm ET

I would encourage all voters to visit Barack Obama's website for tax information. I just did and based on my house hold income we would save or be given a tax credit of $1,800.00. The plan is very detailed and you can compare McCains verse Obama.

Bill, do you have a comprehensive grasp on the facts when you speak? Sen. Obama has two beautiful daughters so he understands about life. Please fact check your information before posting. The lies about his position on abortion have been debunked and fully explained. As a woman the government does not have the right to tell me what to do with my body. Audience members escorted out of Sen. John McCain’s, R-Ariz., campaign event in Cedar Falls questioned why they were asked to leave Sunday’s rally even though they were not protesting.

“I saw a couple that had been escorted out and they were confused as well, and the girl was crying, so I said ‘Why are you crying? and she said ‘I already voted for McCain, I’m a Republican, and they said we had to leave because we didn’t look right,’” Elborno said. “They were handpicking these people and they had nothing to go off of, besides the way the people looked.”

Despite repeated attempts, McCain’s campaign could not be reached for comment.

Promises and more promises but no solutions. (Other than I will tax the wealthy. Popular theme.)

McCain doesn't know how to negotiate and that is one of the biggest quality a leader should have- someone who will gather information and think first before responding on instinct as John McCain did when Bush lied to us about why we needed to attack Iraq!

Think again people- John McCain very bad choice, bad judgement and no where as intelligent as Obama!

Just let me give some advice to the GOP...

In case you haven't noticed GOP, I have a riddle for you.

How many people does it take to satisfy one party? One in your case. And how many people does it take to satisfy a country? Exactly one! In case you haven't read history GOP, my advice to you is making sure that one party is NOT bigger tha one country...I'm sure you thought about that early on, right?

You got until Monday GOP to change the electoral map. Let me remind you that when my boy faced Hillary during the primaries and in Penn, she was always up! As a matter of fact, my boy tried to close the gap but...you nkow what happen, don't need to remind you.

And by the way GOP, Abraham(Lincoln), Teddy(Roosevelt), and Ronald(Reagan) taught you better. I'm sure you knew that...

Later guys!

If one of your family members or stranger raped your daughter (god forbid) talk about it then. Until then, SHUT UP!

OBAMA/BIDEN -08!

David   October 31st, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Let's send McCain into retirement. I'm tired of his ego (read his book-those are his words and I doubt this has changed in 8 years) and his attacks. He does not deserve the presidency because of his family line or because he was in the military and suffered in Vietnam.

Obama is trying to get us to get back to thinking about our common purpose for the common good. He is trying to unite whereas McCain and Palin want to divide. Bush's election victories did enough to divide this country and it is high time we started getting back to that common purpose.

Just think how great our relations will be around the world when they see our nation that once was a country of slavery and segregation elect Obama as our next president. He is what the future of our country needs.

Our country is becoming as diverse as the world and we need to be willing to put aside all the nonsense and garbage that has come out of this campaign and look honestly at the two candidates and what they represent. Remember Republicans and Democrats fight side by side in Iraq. They do not only fight for the Republican Party the fight for the United States of America – Republican and Democrat alike.

Democrats are patriotic and believe in God, they laugh and cry just like the Republicans do. They care about this country and want everyone to have chance at wealth and prosperity not just a select few. when everyone can earn a good living the entire country wins.

I'm looking beyond John McCain's attacks and putting my vote in for Barack Obama – a patriotic, Christian who is putting "country first" in wanting to unite the country for the betterment of all.

Jobs will be created through hope for our future.

By the way why is Obama a socialist and McCain is not when he proposing to buy up mortgages so people can stay in their homes. Taxpayers are being asked to foot the bill that the banks themselves should be responsible for-such a move is a socialist policy. I don't want people to lose their homes either but should the government bail out the banks? This is a trick move McCain is trying to -pull over us. We on Main Street lose yet again-the banks win. This is not bailing out Main Street it just digs a deeper ditch in witch to fall.

Protect and create jobs and vote Obama.

KNIGHT-7579   October 31st, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Exactly how many jobs does a president create? And it is a president's fault when the economy does what is normal and has good days and bad days? Maybe we will start blaming the president for our personal health next. The economy operates because of supply and demand. The more demand there is for something, the more is produced. The less it is demand, the less that is produced. When that happens, jobs are shut down until the need is there. We have lived on credit for too long and it bite us in the rear. So blame the president for running up your credit cards, for buying a house that you had no business buying because it was too expensive, for NOT reading the terms of the mortage, for being gullible enough to fall for no interest, interest only, adjustable ARMS, and for the fact your company's goods and services were not wanted by consumers and you lost your job.

So when Obama fails, and he will, to keep his promise of a handout to those that won't work, and his promise to create millions of new jobs will you blame him and the Democrats like you have Bush and the Republicans?

Matt   October 31st, 2008 2:36 pm ET

It's all over folks...the executive branch (justice department) has mobilized to help suppress the vote. Now we know the underlying reason for the McCain campaign trumpeting the ACORN accusations from the hilltops. You'll see. You better hope you didn't forget to dot an "i" or cross a "t" on your registration...especially if you look like you're going to vote Dem (and yes, that was a nice way of saying "if you're an african-american").

thomas   October 31st, 2008 2:35 pm ET

The U.S. must remain competitive in the world economy through research, development and innovation. The government must invest in the future and rebuild America. Well kudos to Bush who have sold our jobs for oil, war, greed. Everytime I look in my review mirror I see Bush/McCain it make me want to puke!

Rachel Farris   October 31st, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Obama has already said what he is going to do and it is a good plan! McCain and Palin have yet to say anything but bad mouth Obama so wake up America. You want jobs, you want to keep your jobs, you want
a better economy, a good healthplan you then need to get the vote out for Obama. He's the man you want. The Three Stooges minus one (McCain/Palin) have to idea what to do. McCain is predicting a comeback. in his dreams!!!

TJ Johnson   October 31st, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Why would anyone vote for Obama because the economy has turned down? He has said not one word about it; became mute as a cat. Even if he offered up something to fix it, he has no background to show that he can do anything. Only loonies would vote for him because they "Hope" he can "change" something.

- Definitely the smartest group that CNN.com special report has interviewed.

When your back is up against the wall you realize who is better candidate. America, our back is up against the wall. Let's get this right on Tuesday.

sabuc for Obama   October 31st, 2008 2:17 pm ET

"It's the economy stupid!". Sound familiar?

VOTE EARLY and encourage and demand others to do so as well. We cannot let the GOP pull a hat trick with 3 stolen elections come Tuesday night!!!

cindy   October 31st, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Obama the only intelligent choice!

Obama the only one with good judgement!

Obama that only uniter!

All the economic pros keep saying the sub-prime mortgage problems are what tanked the economy. The real culprit is lose of jobs in the United State. Prime or sub-prime, if you lose your job, you can't pay your mortgage... The only way to address the problem is at the source. IT'S NOT JUST THE ECONOMY STUPID, IT'S LOSE OF JOBS...

mitch   October 31st, 2008 2:16 pm ET

if mccain is elected we will keep losing jobs. ask the employees of DHL.

McCain Is Comfort Food!   October 31st, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Voting is ver personal, though I am sorry to say that the "Economy" is not my #1 criteria for voting.

It is serious and sad that people have and are continuing to lose their jobs.

I however, feel for confident & comfortable with John McCain in the White House; in the case of a National Incident, I would feel more confident with his experience.

Larry   October 31st, 2008 2:15 pm ET

People in the USA,have been so well protected by Bush, that their concern is about money, not being attacked by terrorist.I think that's what Bush should and will be remembered for.

j   October 31st, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Statistically the economy has faired better under a Democrat in the White House – look it up. Did you do better economically under Clinton when jobs were created, wages went up & there was a surplus or under Bush where jobs have been lost, wages have shrunk & there is a huge deficit? Check history – the country does better economicially with Democrats. Obama supporters vote as if your future & your childrens future depended on it – VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN!

Emit R Detsaw   October 31st, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Just lost my Job – Thanks Republicans

Regulation is good for the country!!!

shamous mc   October 31st, 2008 2:12 pm ET

I don't mind "trickle down" economics as long as there are penalties in place for companies that would outsource or use illegal migrant labor. Country First should be AMERICA First. Not Corporate America.

Until McCain recognizes that American companies need preference to employ American workers, I can't vote for him.
As it stands right now, his incentives only promote executives to line their pockets and stop the trickle down.
The only trickle left is a not-so golden shower.

Loyal Democrat in MD   October 31st, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Too little too late is right! McCain is trying to make his Last Stand & it won't work. It will be GREAT if he loses his home state!
Don't slack up now...over the top with Obama/Biden!!

Vegas   October 31st, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Work is for suckers...

Obama 08

Liberated!   October 31st, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Vote for the man who's conditions are closer to yours y'all! McCain has 9 houses, 12 cars and worth over $100 million. Obama has 1 house, 1 car! You think McCain gives a crap about Joe the Plumber and the like.....if Joe the Plumber showed up at McCain's house he would have to have on plastic shoes and go around back. Don't fall for the okey doke!

Sam SixPack   October 31st, 2008 2:09 pm ET

We've got those Republicans on the run!

Just look at them scurry away like rats with all their obscene wealth in their greedy little paws!

We don’t need their lousy demeaning jobs. We will soon live in dignity – off tax refunds.

Vote For Barack   October 31st, 2008 2:09 pm ET

Vote for Barack Jon, you'll be amazed at how easy it will be to take this country back to a better place.

Bill   October 31st, 2008 2:07 pm ET

Obama: "A woman shouldn't have to suffer the rest of her life for a mistake she made when she was young."

Mr. Obama, then you are lucky to be here today. You do not understand the value of a human life, your mother did.
What happened, you sold your sole….

You have sealed my vote for McCain.
