CNN Electoral Map update: McCain loses ground

CNN

Check out CNN's Electoral Map.

(CNN) - Some tough news for John McCain in his own backyard, as his home state of Arizona moves from “safe McCain” to “lean McCain” in the latest CNN poll of polls.

And the Republican nominee continues to lose ground in reliably-red areas, as North Dakota moves from “lean McCain” to “toss-up” – meaning three electoral votes that had been counted for McCain are now considered up for grabs.

But there’s some good news for McCain down south: Louisiana has moved from “lean McCain” to “safe McCain.” And the movement on the map is far from done.

Barack Obama now leads McCain by 131 electoral votes, up from his 128-vote lead yesterday. CNN now estimates that if the presidential election were held today, Obama would win 291 electoral votes and John McCain 160. There are 87 electoral votes up for grabs. Again, 270 electoral votes are needed to win the White House.

The CNN Electoral Map is based on analysis from the CNN Political Unit and takes into account a number of factors, including polling, state voting trends, ad spending patterns, candidate visits, and guidance from the campaigns, parties, and political strategists. The list will be updated regularly as the campaign develops over time.

Team McCain has lost the election. So what do they do? They plan to muddy the waters by spending all their remaining resources to post every vicious attack ad and smear over the next 5 days. Instead of trying to make he country better, they will make it more difficult for a new Congress and a new Administration to bring to nation together and rebuild.

Shame on you John McCain and all that follow you for not holding you accountable.

Once again everyone. LETS VOTE ISSUES. Do not vote republican because you grew up a republican! Do not treat republican as your career. That is why they know you as RED STATE! what is that? Think for yourself and you will vote right. This time around...It is all Obama. When is the last time MCCain talked to us about his agenda! He always talks about Obama and people are tired of that.

Sarah Palin is already showing signs of putting in her bid for 2012.
Joe the Plumber was recently a no-show at a McCain rally.
Add the fact that key Republicans are beginning to endorse Obama.

And now even AZ may be turning against McCAin.

These are all troubling signs for the GOP.

I'm just waiting for the day when FOX news gives Barack a ringing endorsment.......

He's lost more than ground. He's lost his marbles (not just his bearings). Anyone that would have the BAD judgment to pick a ditz like palin ought to be locked up in a mental institution. HE'S gone crazy. Dementia? Strokes? Senility? Alzheimers? His left eye looks funny – it seems to be getting worse.

God help us all if this man gets anywhere near the white house.

    Voted early for Obama/Biden

Birds of the same feathers flock together:

As a pilot, McCain was in his cockpit shooting down the poor and the weak ("Thou shalt not kill; no exceptions, period) until he was captured.

As a candidate, McCain chose a lady who shots animals from her own helicopter cockpit- Cowards.

True heros of this nation include: those who "face" the enemy in battle; those who feed the poor and the hungry (e.g., Late Mother Theresa); those who fight for the small people; those who stand up for losers!

No one should be surprised about this. McCain has run a campaign that lacked a message and direction. The best he's been able to come up with are disjointed and nononsensical attacks aimed at Obama.

Well.....I, at least, voted last week!!!

Sarah Palin just entered one of her rallies on the song "Thriller". Very approriate for a witch. Wonder if they got Michael Jackson's permission to do that.

Does anyone else notice that Arizona is now only "leaning McCain" instead of "safe McCain"? Is he actually losing ground in his home state that voted red 3 out of 4 of the past elections?

John McCain losing ground, surprise surprise what did you expect from the George Bush clone.

John McCain is a dazed and confused old man that has forgotten what honor to your country is all about with his dirty corrupt campaign. John McCain is continuing with the same divisive politics of George Bush bringing the country to a new low.

We desperately need change and only President Obama can bring that change.

TO TIM- YES THAT WAS VERY FUNNY- BUT WHAT MOVES ME THE MOST IS THAT OBAMA CAN BRING UP PRESIDENT CLINTON TO THE STAGE, HILLARY CLINTON TO THE STAGE- AL GORE ON VIDEO AND ETC ETC.
MC CAIN HAS JOE THE PLUMBER- WHAT A SAD BUT FUNNY COMMENTARY ON THE REPUBLICAN MESS.
HOWEVER THEY MORE THAN DESERVE THIS
DO NOT BELIEVE THE POLLS , I DO NOT TRUST WHAT CAN HAPPEN WITH DESPERATE REPUBLICANS – GET OUT AND VOTE VOTE VOTE.

  23. A Republican from Texas for Obama

McCain should run the last days of this campaign with dignity and grace. I would want to go out in that style.
FYI – I just found out that many, many republicans on my job also voted for Obama. We just couldn't see Palin in the White House.

CNN MAP: I have a question. You just turned LA solid red and McCain is leading there by 7. Why then are the states of Maine, Michigan, etc. still light blue for Obama? He's up 21 in Maine and at least 12 in Michigan. I don't understand this at all.
