You would think that her husband would have given her better campaign advice than to run an ad like this, which had the high probability of backfiring like it has. Bob Dole never really dabbled in such hateful adds or politics, even when he was running against Clinton. He may have been known at times as a "hatchet man," but even this would be below him. I'm surprised his wife let this add go out.

Great news but remember:
Here are the bare facts about polling. History is written by those who show-up. It only counts on election day. 28% of the electorate still thinks George W Bush is doing fine. If they are so numb to think that about George W Bush then that 28% probably does not see Sarah Palin as un-qualified or John McCain as eratic for selecting her. Say what you want about that 28% but they always vote and they always will. If you are okay with letting them decide the election then I guess you could stay home on Tuesday. If only 50% of the electorate votes than that 28% is a majority for McCain. If 60% vote, advatage Obama if 70% of the electorate would vote Obama will have a landslide of epic propotions and a clear mandate for getting our country back on its path to the 21st century.

Lib Dole has been a disaster for North Carolina and has only been a "rubber stamp" for bush and his policies. Instead of telling us what she would do to help the people in North Carolina; she makes up lies and runs horrific ads because she has done nothing for us and she thinks this is the way to win. I have no respect for her at all, and I thought that Christians were supposed to love one another and not try to tear down someone's character. Do so hope Hagan can be our Senator as we have not had anyone to speak for us for the past many years.

I was surprised at the ad, but not really offended, since it was clear the voiceovers were not Hagan. And living here, I have yet to see a positive ad from Kay Hagan, so she's not exactly sunshine and roses herself. I think the only one I've seen where she isn't spewing venom about Dole was the one where her name is attached to Obama and Perdue.

There is a third-party option on the ballot for the Senate race, and I have yet to see a nasty Libertarian ad.

It's not Sen Dole's idea. It's the Republican machine. It's not Sen McCain's idea. It's the Republican machine. Negative selling is taboo for most individuals. I know, as an industrial salesman, that negative selling never works. it's a turn-off. I have actually received orders from custoemrs where my competition negative sold me and my company. And those customers told me that I got the order because of my competitions' negative selling. Will the same thing happen to the Republican machine?

To everyone who says elect McCain because he has the experience, experience at what! No one, absolutely no on has any prior experience in dealing a bad economy, bad healthcare, 2 bad wars, bad education. The only one is Bush and he was horrible. But even though I am a democrat, I HAD always admired McCain and would have probably lived with him being elected, that was before he picked Gov. Palin, she is in no way prepared for VP or the Presidency. And the way McCain has run his campaign, I don't even recognize him anymore. He sold himself out for a shot at the commander in chief, you don't give up your core values for anything, no job is worth that. The exact same thing is true with E. Dole, what a horrible thing to do, she doesn't deserve to serve ever again.

You know, I'm sick and tired of these attacks on people's faith by the GOP! I'm a life-long liberal Democrat and proud of it! I've had a personal relationship with God since I was 3 and went through my spiritual crisis when I was 13. I absolutely despise people who try to tell me what to believe and who think that they're the only ones "going to heaven" because of the particulars of their faith. I live in NC, and this is another reason why Obama supporters need to make sure they vote. Dole's commercial is guaranteed to mobilize the Religious Right (which is large in NC) to show up and vote on Nov 4th. All of us Obama supporters need to do the same (I have actually already voted, but I suspect many others do not).

Disgusting on Dole's part, on two grounds:

1) Separation of church and state is written into the Constitution. If Dole wants to compete with Hagan on the basis of faith, let her do so in church.

2) Hagan denies knowing she was meeting with "godless" Americans, but even if she was, so what? These people are not criminals.

I have had it up to here with the effort to suffuse religion into the public sphere. if you want a theocracy, move to Iran.

I hope Liddy Dole loses bigtime.

The total failure of the current Admin has brought low the good as well as the bad. Unfortunately, even though Ms. Hagen is a Pres. Sunday school teacher and an Elder in her church, all the public will hear and latch onto is the "Godless" ad. Dole needs to take a trip to the Jefferson Memorial, on which this is inscribed into the second panel: "No man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship or ministry or shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief, but all men shall be free to profess and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion. I know but one code of morality for men whether acting singly or collectively."

The fact that the claims in this ad turned out to be blatant lies says much about the desparation of the GOP candidates in this year's elections. I've seen only one GOP candidate who's running an honorable campaign and deserves to be re-elected this year. He is Oregon's Gordon Smith. Most others, whether it's Minnesota's Michele Bachmann, or North Carolina's Dole, have run a disgraceful campaign and should be punished by losing this election.
