YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (CNN) — Mandatory stops on the GOP campaign trail this year: Pennsylvania. Florida. Saturday Night Live.

Two weeks after running mate Sarah Palin made an appearance on the late-night comedy show, a McCain campaign aide tells CNN that the Republican presidential nominee will appear on the NBC program tomorrow night.

The Arizona senator has appeared on the show several times over the years.

McCain's most memorable appearance on the long running show was in October 2002, when he hosted the program for a night: In a spoof commercial hawking an album called "McCain Sings Streisand," sang several of the Democratic loyalist's songs.

CNN: McCain to Do SNL This Weekend | John McCain   November 1st, 2008 2:09 am ET

[...] to the Political Ticker blog, John McCain is going to appear on this weekend's Saturday Night Live, where he's been a favorite guest over the years. [...]

My vote is NOT FOR SALE – AT ANY PRICE.

But if yours is, here's some FACTS to all who love the Obama Tax Plan.

I went to his website and used the "savings calculator". Some quick numbers for you…

My wife and I combined make about 100K. We no longer have dependents, and we have a mortgage. Popped those numbers into his calculator – I save $1800.

So let's see… averaged out, me and my wife each get a raise of 42 cents an hour.

YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

So if my vote was for sale… which IT IS NOT… we'd get an extra Domino's pizza (no toppings) every week!

Do the math people. What would you rather have – a cheese pizza or your job?
———————————————————————————————–

What you neglected to say was how much you saved under McCain. Could it be that you didn't save SH!T under McCain's tax plan? How much is your mortgage, I want to see what you're talking about based on your post or are you just full of crap. Just unnecessary hate against a man who has not done anything to you.

What a joke for John McCain to be on SNL. He and Sarah should be clowns for circus instead of running the government. We don't want these clowns in White House.

John McCain & Sarah Palin are not trustworthy just like President Bush & Vice President Cheney.

JOE THE PLUMBER is a SKIN HEAD and has the hair cut to prove it!!! He was caught on camera speaking to "so-called" supporters about Israel and even though the "other guy" was off camera – you got a "head full" of what he was saying and what he stood for.

Then, Joe the "PUMPER" agreed with him and shook his hand… You already can tell the crowd he is collecting is not your BEST CROWD of people. He and PA'IN are very capable of "igniting" an already "sensitive" moment in our history and cause problems in the very near future.

Apparently you never watch "Morning Joe" on MSNBC – they trash Obama every single morning to the point where i could not watch any more – every day – "why can't he close the deal" – Joe Scarborough, Mike Murphy, Mika B. , Pat Buchannan – they LOVE to talk down Obama every morning. McCain never talk about what people wants to hear about that's what is upsetting voters also he is so busy trying to tear Obama down that he can't see the writing on the wall , then he had to go and pick that woman and that really send people running the other way. The Republicans keeps sing this song about Obama needing on the job training but face it people so will all of them. If you have never done a job before then that means you have to learn the job. It is funny that it seems like when Obama went over seas he got a warmer greeting than McCain then, face it folks Obama just something about him that people seems to like. Just like Martin Luther King. Cindy McCain doesn't look that well either and it is not the looks but the brain power that draws people to Michelle Obama thank you.

Maybe Palin and McCain, if they lose, will leave government and take their comedy acts on the road. They both seem more suited for jokes than putting their country first. I thought the Clintons were divisive, but the two of them are even more so, and they actually think that no one else notices. remember, you can fool some of the people some of the time.

I don't think it's fair to give a candidate and/or his running mate airtime on a show so close to the election, just because the show dared to poke fun at them a few weeks ago when the campaign was still rather young…

So much for the often claimed "bias" of the "liberal" mainstream media…

Dave From Philly (born in MA)   October 31st, 2008 10:26 am ET

At this point Sen. McCain would sell his sole to get elected. It was funny to see Gov. Palin (and Tina Fey) on SNL. It will not be funny to see him.

I also did my tax cut on Sen. Obama's website. I would get $1,800 back too. I have two kids, a house and my household income is between 130K and 140K.

I would glady take the $1,800 back. If you don't want it, then give it the Commonwealth of MA. It is my understanding that Gov. D. Patrick has had to cut alot of spending and the budget is still not balanced.

gman   October 31st, 2008 10:26 am ET

They need to do a skit with McCain doing his stump speech and a fat lady with a viking hemet is walking around in the background humming. Tina Fey comes in and is trying to get her off the stage. McCain trys to break up the fight and he and the fat lady falls off the stage. Tina steps up to the mic and start doing her acceptance speech.

I can't believe how many people are supporting a man who has ties with terrorist. Wake up – read his own books about marxism.

You need to think about the right candidate and not the person who can give a good speech. No substance there.

To Concerned in MA   October 31st, 2008 10:21 am ET

I would think that nearly $2000 EXTRA wouldn't be lost on a sensible family making $100k a year. Your math needs work or you are foolishly wasting your money for your "cheese-only" pizza. $1800 is $35 extra dollars a week. That's gas money or you could even try something different and take your wife out to the pizzeria.

John in Ohio   October 31st, 2008 10:21 am ET

"If Democrats win full control of government, they will want to give civil rights to terrorists"

We will give basic human rights to suspected terrorists. The Bush Administration has released dozens of detainees from Gitmo, which pretty clearly shows that not every person the US government detains is NOT actually a terrorist. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were not deprived of their civil rights. They were tried, and they were punished. McVeigh was sentenced to death, Nichols was sentenced to life in prison, but at no point did they lose their basic human rights. Charles Manson faced trial. Jeffrey Dahmer faced trial. Saddam frigging Hussein faced trial.

That red herring aside, the fact that Arizona is in play shows how totally sunk McCain is. I don't expect him to lose there, but a slim win in AZ will be further humiliation for him.

For you obama writers writing all the insults about MCCain and Palin here are some for you. Mrs. obama is to ugly to be first lady. Her mother had to tie a pork chop around her neck so the dog would play with her. If she traveled around the world she's so ugly she would scare the other leaders so bad they would run and hide. Iran would start a war with us just to get rid of her. She is just as weird as her husband.

WOW! outright ugly and offensive. Vote or don't vote because you agree or disagree with a canditate's policies. Personal attacks and just unchristian and unjustified. Whoever you are…I'm praying for you. May God take the hate out of your heart.

early on I considered voting for Mcain because, even though I am
a democrat (although I have voted here and there for certain Republican
candidates)…

that all changed when he chose his running mate…Sara Palin….that
all changed when he showed the bad judgement his addled mind made.
as they say, he made a deal with the devil showing even the best of us can be bought….

I began to form opinions on him….other than the ones ads and media drill into us all…..

these are my thoughts here that I share with you: The Keating Five -
he was one of them (not mentioned much in the press). His first
marriage which ended because he loved a rich, young, woman more
than he loved a woman crippled by a horrific car accident (what does
that say about marriage vows?)….and last, probably because it irks
me the most……the clothes that Cindy McCain flaunts…$300,000
dress for the convention….not dwarfed by the daily fashion show
we see…utterly incredible ….a true life barbie doll….the cost of this
extravaganza of a wardrobe is beyond one's imagination…how dare
she and her husband flaunt such riches while our country is
bleeding financially.?????

IF, Portugal   October 31st, 2008 10:18 am ET

McCain's campaign is pitiful. He doesn't focus on WHAT he will do or HOW he'll do it. He's just making absurd accusations like "measuring the drapes" or "Obama will redistribute your wealth around". It doesn't seem to matter how many times those pseudio-facts heve been disproven. He hammers on like a broken record, hoping undecided voters are dumb. And now it's robot calls… underground accusations delivered at home. Ayers, Wright… the PLO, McCain has tried it all. No matter that by the same reasoning McCain chaired a committee that had the same involvement with the PLO. No matter some of the preachers that support McCain have some very extremist, some even abhorrent, views… McCain keeps accusing. That's not determination… it's pathetic and despicable.

I don't think the american people know McCain at all. Everybody says he is an honourable man. I thought so, too. But the McCain that's been revealing himself in this campaign is anything but honourable.

Ron , West Coast   October 31st, 2008 10:18 am ET

I`ts amazing how John McBush / Sarah Palin are getting all this free air time on the tube lately …….
The media complained about Palin not exposing herself to the news media , as other VP candidates did in the past , so why give her or John McBush any free air time ?
I , for one am sick and tired of the way the media bows down to these republicrook liars and fear mongers .
They try to devide America . I`m sick of Joe the plumber , hockey moms , nascar dads , and all the other juvenile slogans the McBush campaign spews on a daily basis .
If they cant expose themselves to the legitimate media to be asked , and answer questions that the public want , then I say , make them pay for their air time .

Last night in his speech in Missouri Obama said he wanted to fundamentally change America. Can someone please tell me what fundamentals he wants to change? Because I like America's fundamentals. He already said he is going to change from capitalism to socialism with his spread the wealth plan. Is he also going to change the fundamentals like the ability to bear arms, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and one person one vote? I know many of you feel the way I do that things need to be fixed in our system, but I for one do not want the fundamentals that built our nation and made it the great nation it is, changed. "Do the math people. What would you rather have – a cheese pizza or your job?"

I take that to mean if I vote for Obama I will get cheese pizza every week and if I vote for McElmerFud I will lose my job. Thanks for enlightening me. I think I'll take the pizza!!!

Concerned in MA   October 31st, 2008 10:10 am ET

@ Advocate50 -

It's not that $1800 is insignificant. I'm simply saying that the Obama supporters think that because they're going to get a tax break (or for those who don't pay taxes, a welfare check), they should vote for him.

Just trying to put it into perspective, my liberal friend. A cheese pizza for electing an unknown quantity?

No thank you.

All these people who claim that they have not made up their minds needs to stop fooling themselves think about this if ANd That"s A big If McCain should steal his way in this election the world would be in even a bigger diaster with Palin in the White House she has already overused her power in Alaska so she would try the same thing in DC so please don't give her the chance to do so. That is why you now have a lot a Republicans backing away from McCain. Then I understand she said she would cut funding for special needs children just thinking of all the familys that would hurt. The Republicans would get rid of her but it is to late to do so, so they are stuck with her and her family trailing alone with her.

Mn Voter: It saddens me to know that people like you exist. Your hateful remarks about Michelle Obama's looks are a disgrace. How shallow. It is no wonder that the superficial McCain/Palin campaign appeals to you. But, I have faith that the majority of the voters in this great land are NOT like you. Soon, we will have a man of integrity in the White House, and even YOU will benefit from his leadership.

But, actually, I think you are so narrow minded that you are better staying with your husband's "hate America" party and seceding from the rest of real America.

John McCain does make a good Comedian and is well suited to shows like SNL.

Sarah Palin does make a good sports broadcaster as she does read a teleprompter well and looks pretty good in front of a camera.

To Mn voter
You are such a loser. Michelle Obama is a well educated, dignified and beautiful lady and she is a great mom too. Do you see the Obama kids being dragged around from rally to rally? They are in school where kids should be. Michelle has her priorities correct unlike sarah palin who parades her kids at the rallies. BTW doesn't Piper palin have school that she has to attend?

Maggie from peterborough   October 31st, 2008 10:08 am ET

How can anyone with a lick of common sense vote for a candidate who has yet to talk about issues and how to resolve them. Unless I've missed something in this campaign John McCain has yet to show how he would do one thing different on economic and foreign policies than what the Bush administration has done for the past 8 years.

Qualified   October 31st, 2008 10:07 am ET

John McCain has a record of serving the country and knows the specifics of how to get things done while Obama hasn't even completed his first term in the senate and spent the majority of his term in the senate politicking for president. As fluent a speaker as Obama is, he has done nothing for this country except take liberal stances and pretend to be a moderate. John McCain should be our Commander and Chief.

If I was a republican, I would feel really bad about the level of education my supporters have. Do you ever hear these people speak? Hell, just read how they post. Obama has said (saw it myself) that he will not fund MISSLE DEFENSE or ANY new Defense projects. Our military is the best because we have the best trained and best equipped forces. And we have this 3rd character : Joe the scum_bag.. wow…wake up my friends — do you think America needs this drama now?
Obama will be a World leader like Bill Clinton and that is what we need right now. Restore our image, respect, faith in the entire world. We need a President who would stand by the people, for the people and it is " That One " – Mr. Barack Obama.
He is not going to spread anyone's wealth (truely, all Mccain cares about is his wealth).. All he is saying is that he will remove the unnecessary tax breaks the " Failed One " – George Bush gave away to himself and his wealthy friends.
Like McCain says, give aways to the rich and making the rich richer, poor poorer – is a path to life in a 3rd world country.
So it is your choice. We have a wise, honest, well educated, disciplined, god loving, family man – Mr. Barack Obama. On the other hand, we have the worst, angry, lying, desperate, jealous – Mr. John McCain.

Where do you get all your hatred from? When I, as a European represented by more than 30 million coming from my country and now Americans, read anything like that, I have to mobilize all my psychological awareness to accept the fact that within the Republican Party, there are a lot of scared people. You need a statesman like Obama who could do a lot to change your reputation as a country on the whole, because it has been low for a looong time now! I am a great friend of the US of America, having been through 41 states during a long period of time with several friends in your beautiful country (but you are not selected by God to be the chosen people on Earth). You have to start communicating with Europe and other parts of the world, otherwise the risk is big that you will isolate yourself, which perhaps will suit radical and ignorant radical republicans! Obama will be the best that has happened to your country for a long time! Fathom him, support him and unify instead of splitting! You will crack from within!!! Go Democrats, use your positive energies!!!

Where are the Republicans who are not mean and fear mongers? I know you are out there. The Democrats may say some disjointed, unpleasant things and there are one or two crazies out there who may put up effigies of Mrs. Palin, but these types pale in comparison to those who write comments in columns representing the Republican point of view. How can one have such hatred as the person who wrote about Mrs. Obama? Civility is gone. What is nice about the Democratic Party, among other things, we may agree to disagree, but we don't have such blatent hatred as demonstrated by the other side.

How pathetic a once great man turns to comedy for notoriety. Instead of focusing on issues and trying to win this election McCain thinks it more important to do a comedy show. The real comedy of this election was Palin as his vp pick. Perhaps McCain doesn't get it that he is the butt of the joke. Obama may not have the experience but he has shown calm leadership qualities and I;m sure will fill his cabinet with the most qualified people he can find. I wish john McCain and Sarah Palin the best of luck in whatever they go on to after this election But my vote will go to Obama/Biden. They seem far more focused on issues and the American people. John is dividing this country not unifying. This redistribution of wealth issue is huge. It has no merit and John McCain should be ashamed of his self and his "dog from hell" Sarah Palin should be sent back to her kennel. To even make this statement at a time when folks are loosing their homes, committing suicide because they have lost 60% of the retirement and savings, not the mention the growing number of homeless (w childern) on the street. Is disturbing. If the Govt can help the banks (cough cough) SOCIALISM. Its dam n well time to start helping the American People with the wealth they have given their govt since they able to work. People who need, are people who pay taxes, people who need help just lost their jobs, due to upper crust greed. This sick selfish attitude that is going around is just disgraceful and very UNAMERICAN. Good Help us all.

To "Concerned in MA" Since $1800 is such an insignificant sum to you perhaps next year you should tell your employer that instead of giving you a raise next year he should take that money and plow it back into his company so it can create additional jobs since you'd simply waste it on cheese pizzas.

It is fitting that he will spend the last Sat. of the campaign on SNL. His entire campaign has been one big joke and maybe he can make us laugh for a little while to forget the mess he and is party has given us.

Dale   October 31st, 2008 9:49 am ET

Sad state of affairs for SNL. It used to be a place for satire of political figures, – where even the then-President Gerald Ford would make an appearance and STILL be made fun of to the point everyone thought it made him look ridiculous.

Now it's a place for polticians to advertise their "fun-loving, I can take a joke, so I'm better than my opponent" abilities, with writers afraid that if they say anything bad about someone they'll end up not working in the business.

Then again, SNL has been afraid of celebrities for years now, so it's no wonder they're willing to be let the Republicans run rampant on the show. After spending so much time praising Hillary and trying to make Obama look bad, it's not surprising.

McCain still has not uttered a word of intelleigent speak on what his plan is for the economy. "Cut taxes and hope for the best" just doesn't work. It may have worked if we weren't in such huge debt but we are. If by chance the wall street welfare program works what will have happened to medicare and social security by then.

McCain has zero plan but he is good at lies and promoting false negative attacks. Age wasn't a factor in my decision for this election but when he picked a pom pom girl for VP now age is a factor. McCain is simply a bad cjhoice no matter how you look at it with intelligent eyes. I am glad to see that the eductaed of Arizona have seen enough.

Obama puts out a 30 minute ad on major networks. You get Larry King. Obama gets a spot on the Daily Show. You get a bit role on SNL.

Maybe you should spend more time in your own home state since you are slipping in the polls there Johnny.

Debbie Black   October 31st, 2008 9:46 am ET

Much has been made of what the world will do after the election to test the new president. The world is watching now. Barack has shown himself to be steady, calm, decisive, and willing to listen to other people's ideas. John McCain has shown quite the opposite. The world is depending on American's to elect a world leader. Not a petty, selfish, angry, divisive man; whose campaign has focused on turning American against American.

These people are obviously desperate! Palin's appearance on CNN this morning, with her pregnant daughter holding her Down's syndrome baby brother dressed in a Dumbo suit is just one more example of how much they don't get it. And why aren't those kids in school anyway? I doubt they're getting any smarter following her around the country.

Will he revisit the role of the "stalker" as he did years back?

I will certainly tune into see this Must See event. Either way, the die is cast and McPalin characters without real character will go into the dust bin with the rest of the sleazos who thought that they could lead a nation with the support of the fringe only.

And they will not have learned anything. The new GOP will either rebuild so that some of us might come back, or be reduced to the "limbaugh" party (Limbaugh et all call moderates and indie voters the "liberals in waiting) in which case they can angrily feel marginalized by the left when it was THEM who marginalized themselves, putting their narrow interests above the interests of the majority of Americans.

Mn voter October 31st, 2008 9:28 am ET

For you obama writers writing all the insults about MCCain and Palin here are some for you. Mrs. obama is to ugly to be first lady. Her mother had to tie a pork chop around her neck so the dog would play with her. If she traveled around the world she's so ugly she would scare the other leaders so bad they would run and hide. Iran would start a war with us just to get rid of her. She is just as weird as her husband.
—————————————————————-
Ha ha, funny…NOT!

What the heck does that have to do with anything? Mrs. Obama isn't entering a beauty contest…and by the way she still wins because beauty isn't just a pretty face and body. Those contests also judge intelligence and brains. Gov. Palin can't even answer a question. And she isn't running against Gov. Palin anyway. The fact that you're even comparing her to either McCain or Palin on looks is very telling about what you think about your candidates on their real qualifications. How idiotic are you? Unbelievable. If you want to vote for McCain and Palin for more dumb reasons like this, have at it.

And by the way, she would make a better President than McCain and Palin combined, just like her husband. Unbelievable.

Mr McCain seems so desperate in his desire to be president, that he has shifted his position more since 2000 than a greased pig. He lies, abandons a wife of 15yrs, after she is no longer the swimsuit model due to a horrify auto crash, and in 1 month marry a rich heiress, hook up with Keating, mad at Bush after 2000, best friends with Bush 90% of the time, now he don't know Bush in 2008.

Too bad that after all that has been spent by McCain and Obama, the only candidate to candidly discuss his ACTUAL PLAN is Bob Barr, the Libertarian party candidate.

McBama is an empty vessel. The Republicans and Democrats are trying to woo us through "hope and change" and "fear and divisiveness" rather than through facts, plans and strategy.

There is a real choice for a better direction on Nov 4: Bob Barr. He is against the war, against raising taxes. He will shrink government and stop pumping up our debt. He is the ONLY CANDIDATE who will lower taxes (see the National Taxpayer Union). McBama will raise taxes, albeit one more slowly than the other.

We need overwhelming Democratic ticket victories at all levels to send a unified message to all America (and the Republicans in particular) that bombastic messages of hate, distortions and lies will no longer be accepted in political campaigns.
Maybe, then in future, we can have (all) contestants from all parties focusing upon substantive issues that affect our lives.

PALIN PROMISED TO RELEASE HER MEDICAL RECORDS, WHERE ARE THEY?

The campaign said early this week, they lied.

Mark, we as Obama supporters as well as Obama himself only want the election if we win. It is not necessary to cheat when your candidate is talking about things the american people cares about.

See republicans need to cheat this year because they have an old candidate that only expects people to vote for him because of racism and their desire to see a woman, qualified or not on the ticket. He expects to scare people into voting for him rather than voting out of their hearts for the best candidate for the job.

Same old speech, different $150000.00 costume.

My wife and I are teachers with two teenagers…we'd LOVE to have $1800 rather than give it to rich corporate CEO's. All you Repubs had nothing to say in 2000 when W. stole the election from Gore…but MAN are you scared you might actually LOSE this year and EVERYONE is watching to make sure you don't cheat again!

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia in CA   October 31st, 2008 9:34 am ET

All McCain has to do is use his lines when introducing "Joe the Plumber" on the stump "great american, hero, etc…", that should get him a lot of laughs.

McCain has become a joke. I never thought of him much as a war hero, since he chose to disregard military protocol and got caught. I think his 30 years in the Senate with really nothing to show for it speaks for itself.

So, yes, go on SNL Senator, make it memorable.

Joe The Engineer   October 31st, 2008 9:34 am ET

McCain can't win at all . Yes he brought along a very attractive woman, but you can't win by looks alone. The American people are smarter. You can no longer fool them using the republican fear tactic or Joe the fake plumber. They are literally hungry and angry. Try honesty and one thing you will do concrete to make it better people who are hurting.

Dean   October 31st, 2008 9:33 am ET

Didn't SNL start out trying to be an outlet for what was "in" with its targeted demo of young people? This choice is the equivalent of starting out in 1975 not with George Carlin and Richard Pryor but with Rich Little and Jerry Lewis.

SNL is not a news organization and seem to be thinking a little too highly of its own role by playing "fair and balanced". Can't recall them finding it necessary to let Ford come on and disprove Chase's riff or have Bush counter Will Ferrell.

Your job is to poke fun at the establishment, not be a part of it.

Tim E   October 31st, 2008 9:33 am ET

Obama is a questionable candidate   October 31st, 2008 9:29 am ET

After Law school, he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he
did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which
is Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office
in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter
David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate
race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in the Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million
(less than asking price).
With ALL those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day;
Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that
Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new
home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss. She is now
Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where
was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz , Iran ! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?

Jeff   October 31st, 2008 9:29 am ET

McCain has demonstated himself to be a belligerent and unsophisticated man. As much as I do not agree with his politics and policies, I am equally, if not more, appalled by his poor demeanor as a leader and role model. (In addition, I find Palin to be as fabricated as a boy band). It saddens me that much of America is as naive or short-sighted as recent media exposure has shown them to be.

Her mother had to tie a pork chop around her neck so the dog would play with her. If she traveled around the world she's so ugly she would scare the other leaders so bad they would run and hide. Iran would start a war with us just to get rid of her. She is just as weird as her husband.

country. I am a Democrat voting for McCain. I, or should I say we
as there are 7 voters for McCain in my home, all family members and
registered Democrats also. We are just getting tired of the media sucking up to Obama. We have seen through his phoniness and
would encourage others to look deep also. It really frightens us.
You can count on our votes Senator and as many more we can muster
for you … Hopefully we are looking at a Truman effect in this election and
you come out the victor. We all thank you have made a great choice in
Sarah. So you keep it up ( Mr. President ) !!!!! McCain/Palin Nov. 4 th.

Mel B.   October 31st, 2008 9:26 am ET

It is not over until the fat lady sings. I don't hear any choirs. I am just wondering if this is going to end up being another George Bush election and wins by cheating and lying his way into the White House or is he and the poll workers for McCain going to play by the rules fair and square? I will be on the edge of my seat until 270 is reached. And by the way if he is so not race baised why is his state the only one in the nation that DOES NOT celebrate King Day????

Please print this CNN

Anna PA   October 31st, 2008 9:26 am ET

Another CNN story tells us that McCain is stumping in his home state. If McCain is catching up to Obama the way some reports are saying why would he have to campaign in his own state?

He is because the race is not tightening nation wide but is tightening in Arizona for Obama. The poll that reports McCain catching up is the Mason/Dixon poll. It is one poll not a group averaged together.

This Mason/Dixon poll has always shown the race tighter than any other poll but has always been averaged with many other polls. So the McCain campaign has been pushing for reporters to show this poll as proof that McCain is gaining on Obama. The only thing that is true is that the area where this poll is taken the race is getting closer together but only is this area not nationally and most importantly not is PA. where McCain really needs to win to win at all.

Nice try McCain but overall this poll shows no real proof of you gaining any real ground.

Bill   October 31st, 2008 9:25 am ET

I just realized that John McCain is tragic character, much like Oedipus. He doesn't have a complex about his mother as much as trying to measure up to his father and grandfather. Unfortunately, as hard as he tries, he DOESN'T have the right stuff. He continues to only make things worse for himself, his campaign, and the country if elected. Therefore, he doesn't belong on a comedy show. He belongs on a psychotherapists couch.

obambi   October 31st, 2008 9:24 am ET

"Obama’s election invites a major international crisis he will be unprepared to handle alone. If Democrats win full control of government, they will want to give civil rights to terrorists and talk unconditionally to dictators and state sponsors of terror."

I almost couldn't beleive what I'd read, and can't imagine voting for these people – just lies and more lies – anything at all to win… Every point has been clearly refuted both by the Obama campaign and the media. Now a no-brainer – Obama/ Biden 08/12

Pitiful. A hail Mary.

And regarding the underlying notion, "As polls tighten…", it's hogwash.

The polls aren't tightening. Look at ALL the polls. Take the averages after dropping the highest and lowest in your set. You'll see that the race MAY have shifted half a point. Maybe.

CNN, or FOX lite, NEEDS to have a tight race for ratings. The better the ratings, the more they charge for advertising. Ad dollars are the only poll that matters to broadcasters.

Seems like the GOP loves to look foolish on SNL…I mean Fey and the gang did a great job basiclly using nothing but verbatum spoken material making the GOP look like a bunch of morons. I think its good for candidates to go on there and have a little fun but in this election cycle I think it's clear SNL is no fan of the McCain/Palin ticket. Curious to see if they let Fey play along side Mac as his dopey sidekick..if Mac agrees to that then he in essence is agreeing with the notion that his VP pick is an imbicile.

What a twit! Instead of going out and trying to convince people that he is worthy (somewhat), he is going on to a TV show that will do nothing to help. Of course his Lipstick lapdog will be out there continuing her ridiculous tirades and "you betchas" for the lemmings to lap up. The rest of the country will sit back and laugh at her lame efforts to convince people that she is nothing but an empty pants suit that doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the Oval Office

The race is tightening and that shows that voters are not buying what Obama says about McCain :
"McCain is Bush" & " With McCain there will be 4 more years of Bush"

People should vote for Obama if they think Obama is ready and has easy solutions to everything..Otherwise better vote for Mccain…

The tides are turning and the wind is behind McCain not the annointed one. Character, ability and proven leadership do matter to the American voter, especially in these trying times.

Obama is a bag of hot air, and his 30 minute speech contained no new information, soulutions or a hint that he was able to solve any problems.

Keep drinking your Kool-Aid and enjoy SNL as you watch the next President of the United States show that he too has a sense of humor.

JW   October 31st, 2008 9:02 am ET

McCain doesn't need the same amount of funds that Obama does to get the exposure or get out his message. He or Gov. Palin is always on Larry King Live as well as CNN, Fox (their own personal cable channel), ABC, GMA, NBC, SNL, as well as others. CNN usually plays sound bites from every campaign stop for Senator McCain or Gov. Palin for 1-5 minutes while only playing Senator Obama's for 30-45 seconds and then letting the talking heads explain what he said. I guess "No Bias No Bull" is the same as "Fair and Balanced".

Pamela   October 31st, 2008 9:02 am ET

Newscater: You don't mind if I take some of it and give it to Senator McCain? He doesn't have as much.

Obama: You can't do that! I worked hard for that money! That's my money!

Newscater: No so much fun when it's your money getting spread around is it???

EUROPEAN GUY   October 31st, 2008 8:58 am ET

I' m from Europe and have been following this election very closely. Why do I care? The entire world cares who will be your next President, because we are all affected by your policies!

I can say that I've been around a lot. I've lived in 4 different countries and travelled to approx. 35 others. Maybe it is due to my experience that I had with many people of different coulture, mentality, race etc. that I cannot understand – and I'm not alone there – that this presidential race is still so close.

For almost a decade the USA have shown to the world how it shouldn't be done. And the world hates you for that, be sure of that. It's pretty easy to blame your current moron president for everything, but you brought this on yourself by electing him. As if it wasn't enough after his first term, you went and reelected the guy in 2004! I admit that it looked with both elections that there was foulplay going on, but after Bush's 1st term he should have lost in a landslide.

Now we have pretty much the same situation as 4 years ago where the whole world is confident that the world power USA will finally have a reasonable and intelligent leader again. But I'm not very confident….
Although I pray for a landslide victory for the Democrats, I fear that you Americans are not smart enough to do it. I believe that if any other country had to choose between your 2 candidates (on one hand the pathetic old man and his even more pathetic sidekick who shout war, war, war all the time and on the other hand the charismatic, inspiring Obama who has a true vision of how America and the world should be) there would be no question as to the outcome of the election.

You Americans are the best in the world in so many things, yet so many of you are ignorant. If you elect Mccain and this annoying Palin as your leaders then you really don't deserve any better. But the world does, people, the world does.

So please go out and vote for OBAMA / BIDEN !!!

I wish McCain had the charisma of Obama so we could just vote on the issues instead of likability. McCain would win in a landslide.

For anyone who actually understands how the economy works McCain is an easy choice. For those who blindly follow and are easily swayed by the unbelieveable amounts of infomercials, etc., I guess Obama is your man.

I understand that Obama's biggest concern right now, as reported this morning, is how to downgrade people's expectations if he is elected. Wow!! Already worried that he can't deliver what he promised and he isn't even elected yet. I wish the American voter would really look at the issues and what caused them and reevaluate their choice for President and look past the empty promises and rhetoric.

Then on November 4 I could actuall say, "President McCain"!

guythegood   October 31st, 2008 8:54 am ET

How appropriate : McCain and Palin are after all a comedy act.

Now McCain accuses Barrack Obama of voting on the side of Big Oil while Palin denounces him as a socialist ?

Who can beleive them any more ? I guess the less clever of the gun-totin' , goose-stepping right wing proto-fascist, red-neck evangelical freakshows.

Mike   October 31st, 2008 8:54 am ET

Funny that the ticket that criticized Obama for being a "celebrity" is feeling like it has to do the SNL circuit in the final days of the campaign in a desperate attempt to turn things around. First Sarah, now John. You'd think that John would have different priorities for his time in the last days before election day, but that is the campaign that he has run. Transparently desperate.

Republican Woman for Obama   October 31st, 2008 8:54 am ET

Okay that's nice….who cares? We are going to vote for someone because they appear on SNL…maybe his appearance will have the same effect that the Palin appearance had.

Dana from NY   October 31st, 2008 8:54 am ET

I do not understand CNN… in a post last night they titled it "Buyers Remorse" stating their poll of polls shows Obama's lead shrinking to 5 points…then this morning they say their poll of polls have him holding steady @ 8 points! Why do they have to be so contradictory? Every poll shows Obama with a 6-8 point lead on average…but last night just to "create" a story they make it appear as though his lead is slipping away to do what exactly?
I mean I think its good in a way, b/c Obama supporters should not get too comfortable and think this is in the bag in any way…EVERYONE HAS TO VOTE!! However- the way you word your headlines is rediculous… I do not have buys remorse… the only remorse I will have is if I wake up on Wednesday November 5th and McCain and Palin are going to running our country- I think I would go into depression- never mind mourning!
My point is CNN is allll over the place- no coverage of Obama's ad, no coverage of Bill Clinton's speech Wednesday night- one of his most phenomenol speeches yet… anyone who says CNN is in the tank for Obama must not really be watching and reading lately… they contradict themselves at every turn, trying not to hurt anyones feelings- give me a break! How about you report the ACTUAL news- if it favors Obama then so be it, the truth is the truth- but to compare Obama's negative ads to McCains was where I drew the line- that was when I realized these reporters were puppets to Exxon advertising dollars and nothing more!

When McCain gets away from the tactics of the campaign trail, loosens up and shows us the "old" John, he's a really likeable guy. Too bad he's made horrible decisions politically and embraced both the policies and tactics of the people who smeared him so badly in 2000. He might be in a very different position in the election now if he had stayed true to what he stood for 8 years ago instead of listening to the Bush cronies and selling his integrity for votes in the right wing "base". I'll watch and likely enjoy him on SNL, but he's not getting my vote.

It is a mistake by SNL to even invite McCain within 10 days of the election to appear on their show. It invites the possibility of helping him appear less wooden and puppet like to the American public. At this point SNL needs to stick to its internal skits etc. and stay out of it. It is also a mistake by the CNN and the media in general to over cover McCain and his sinking ship saga day after day after day. It is tantamount to throwing a drowning shark a life preserver to build the hopes of his handlers and allow the tense ratings building saga to coax those that always love the underdog to vote for him.. He has been savaging Obama day in and day out, yet I see a preponderance of coverage given to his efforts and that of his Barracuda moose milk maid, Sarah Palin. Equal coverage guys and stop playing to the angst of American voters for ratings!

Noah   October 31st, 2008 8:44 am ET

McCain has a great sense of humor and, unlike Obama, he can poke fun at himself. He will be great on SNL. It is unfortunate that the Liberals have decided to make this election largely about race and, as a result, we are not allowed to poke fun at Obama or even criticize the man for fear of being called a racist. It is disgusting. I thought Obama was the candidate that was above race? I thought he promised not to use race in the election? He went back on that promise as well. If Barack Obama were a white man named Bobby O'bannion, who had served only 2 years in the Senate and had an undistinguished record and little experience I would still not vote for him. So do not make me feel like I am being racist because I choose not to vote for a man whose entire politics I disagree with. if Obama loses it will be because the majority of Americans have rejected his radical left views, not because he is black.

Yeah, we can laugh all the way to the polls but FINALLY, within the last couple of weeks before election day, we are finding out what Obama is all about, and when the facts are presented the Republican campaign is accused of fearmongering. The truth is, an Obama presidency IS something to fear. The man will bring this country into further despair as he injects his socialist/marxist ideology into our Republic and destroys this nation. If you want to call this fearmongering go ahead and choose your mode of denial, but when you have to face the reality of this please don't try to again blame the republicans for the disaster he and his cronies subject us to. Not only will Obama's agenda bring us down further but as Biden said (NOT the Republican campaign) an Obama presidency will invite an attack on this nation; don't be surprised just keep on supporting him, that way we can all come together again as we are totally destroyed.

McCain is extremely desperate right now and doesn't know what to do. His running mate Palin is backstabbing him behind the scenes and he is snubbing her on the bus rides. Can you imagine these two in the White House together? They can't even get along for a few months let alone 4 years? The would be an internal war in the White House let alone all the other disasters happening around the world.

And McCain turns more and more into a joke. The SNL skit did not help palin because she is too light weight.. it just made her lighter. And Mccain oddly has now become a shell of his former self. He talks about nothing that would make my life better. He just talks like Hannity. Only about 30% of the people like Hananity. The rest think he is over the top or flat out nuts. McCain is now with the far right ranters. That turns him into a joke.

Will they call the show " Saturday Night Bareley Alive "?

Carl from MI   October 31st, 2008 8:35 am ET

Yeah, because THAT will convince people to vote for him and help him get elected where all his Obama-bashing failed.

When in doubt and trying to get elected and sleeze tactics fail… use comedy and send them laughing to the polls, right McCain?

It's too bad our nation's voters will be laughing at you and your sleazy campaign as they're leaving the polls come Tuesday as they vote Obama our next POTUS.

WAKE UP, AMERICA!! VOTE SMART… NOT SENILE!!!

Rapidray   October 31st, 2008 8:35 am ET

He must have a death wish.

SNL did a number on Palin, and now the top of th ticket is lining up for more of the same.

Is this a surrender?

Veterans 4 Obama   October 31st, 2008 8:35 am ET

What a nice fun thing for John McCain to do before he goes back to work as a Senator.

Jeffer65   October 31st, 2008 8:33 am ET

Yeah – that's a good reason to vote for him, because he appears on SNL, not!. Maybe part of the skit could be him actually talking about issues. What a transparent ploy to gain the interest of the young voters. Or is it damage control for what's left of his political career?

Anna PA   October 31st, 2008 8:33 am ET

I really wish he wouldn't. McCain and Palin are ruining the very funny roll that SNL was on. Being on SNL will not change the race.

T'SAH from Virginia   October 31st, 2008 8:32 am ET

McSAME and his PA'IN is "HEAD STRONG AND DEAD WRONG"!!! That is why they are losing…. Case in POINT!!! If they weren't so NASTY and DIRTY, they nay have had a chance.

McSAME made one of the MOST important decisions he could make when he picked his VP!!! He FAILED!!! So how would he run the White House? The same choices will be made that was in his mind when he choose PA'IN. SNL CANNOT HELP HIM!!!

OBAMAN / BIDEN – 4-DAYS LEFT TO VICTORY!!!! YES WE CAN!!!

BJGT   October 31st, 2008 8:32 am ET

Can he stay up that late?

Paul, TX   October 31st, 2008 8:31 am ET

McCain is too old to be president! I have great respect for the man, but i do think his age is a valid issue.
Especially because his running mate Palin terrifies me! If she becomes president the USA would fall apart! And Americas already poor global reputation will be shattered!!

Imagine Sarah Palin dealing with the Iraq war….. the economic crisis she knows nothing about….. What if USA is attacked again while she is in charge. That is Scary!

Tom   October 31st, 2008 8:31 am ET

Is SNL the new place for desperate candidates? He'd have better luck with a "Colbert bump".

republican voter going for obama   October 31st, 2008 8:30 am ET

go out with Dignity John, or not, but go out. Palin was a horrible choice. What were you thinking?

Steve   October 31st, 2008 8:30 am ET

Times are to serious to be joking around. McCain need to focus on his concession speech.

CL   October 31st, 2008 8:30 am ET

Can anybody say "TOAST".

Mike T. Vaughn   October 31st, 2008 8:28 am ET

WOW last minute stop on SNL to tell more lies.

Is that an iceberg I see?   October 31st, 2008 8:28 am ET

That would make sense since McCain and Palin's campaign has been ONE BIG JOK E! Reminds me of the captain in the movie Titanic, asking for the band to play on as the waters rise ever higher around him Still better for McCain to laugh rather cry in the final days of his failed bid for the presidency I guess.

Barbara - 65 yr old white female in NC   October 31st, 2008 8:27 am ET

Finally, a joke that isn't cruel. He's cruel – he's a hypocrit, liar, fear-monger, hate-monger, and many other evil things.

Would you want your children to tell the tall tales this man does? Or would punishment be in store for them.

McCain wants his own war in Iran. That's all he wants.

HC4BO   October 31st, 2008 8:27 am ET

It ain't gonna help him …

He might as well stay home …

KJL   October 31st, 2008 8:26 am ET

It's sad that McCain's mental decline is taking place on a world stage, and Palin always was a joke.

Lorna, NY   October 31st, 2008 8:26 am ET

Nothing is going to help him.

Cathy   October 31st, 2008 8:25 am ET

Maybe Tina Fey would kindly tell McDuh Joe (not) the Plummer
EATS PASTE!!!!!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08!!!!

Awaiting Moderation by CNN   October 31st, 2008 8:25 am ET

When did SNL start doing comic tragedy skits?

vote! OBAMA-BIDEN NOV.4th   October 31st, 2008 8:24 am ET

MCCAIN AND PALIN HAVE MADE A JOKE OUT OF THIS ENTIRE CAMPAIGN, IN OUR WORST ECONOMIC CRISIS EVER, THEY STILL THINK THE VOTERS ARE IGNORANT, SHAME ON THEM BOTH. VOTE OBAMA-BIDEN

theogracias   October 31st, 2008 8:24 am ET

That skit where McCain announces the stupid guy pretending to be a plumber is at the raly but he is not there. That was too funny and then McCain says "you're all Joe the plumber" Wow that was really far fetched and not at all realistic but I guess that's what made it funny. Great job SNL.

John in Ohio   October 31st, 2008 8:22 am ET

Desperation is a stinky cologne.

Spencer/Virginia   October 31st, 2008 8:22 am ET

It won't help him gain any new votes. i think everyone is decided John. Give it up already. I'm not even a pundit BUT I'm writing you off.
